Extractions: by Rev. Daniel A. Lord, S.J. Colette lived in dangerous times. Three men all pretended to be the real Pope. Many Christians did not know which was the true Pope. But Colette did. When she was a little girl she became a sister. Saint Francis appeared to her in a vision one day. He asked her to love God very much. "And make your sisters good nuns," he begged her. So she did. She showed them how happy a good nun is. She taught them how to take care of the poor and teach little children about Jesus Christ. This little nun loved the Catholic Church very much. So God showed her which was the right Pope. Bravely she told the Bishops and Cardinals what to do. They followed her advice. One Pope was elected and the Church was happy again. The devils hated her because she was so good. They feared her because she loved the Church. So they appeared to her in ugly shapes. They played horrid tricks on her. They tempted her severely. "Stop praying to Jesus," they cried, "and we will stop bothering you." But she only prayed the harder. She died smiling as she was praying to God to forgive all sinners. Her Feast is March 6th. Pourtant parler de Colette, c'est avant toute chose parler de sa mère, Adèle-Eugénie-Sidonie Landoy, dit Sido, qui restera sa conscience campagnarde et lui donnera le goût de la liberté. Auprès de Sido, la jeune Colette a une éducation assez libérale : en majeur, les joies de la nature et le plaisir des lectures libres ; le catéchisme et les contraintes de tous ordres étant quant à eux relégués au second plan. De cette enfance bourguignonne, elle gardera une conscience profonde de la nature se mêlant à une sensualité souvent provocante. D'un côté les treilles et les jardins, l'aurore et le crépuscule, de l'autre l'agitation mystérieuse des animaux et des hommes et une innocente effronterie. Un parfum de scandale l'accompagnera souvent : " Vous n'êtes pas du tout une femme convenable , Madame Colette, lui dira Jean Anouilh. Vous êtes la fière impudeur, le sage plaisir, l'insolente liberté, le type même de la fille qui perd les institutions les plus sacrées et les familles". Pendant plus d'un demi-siècle, de Claudine paru en 1900 jusqu'aux Paradis terrestres (1953), elle va publier une multitude de romans et récolter honneurs et gloire . Elue à l'académie Goncourt au fauteuil de Sacha Guitry, promue Grand officier de la Légion d'honneur en 1953, elle mourra l'année suivante. Son enterrement provoquera un dernier scandale puisqu'elle bénéficiera à la fois d'obsèques nationales dans la cour d'honneur du Palais Royal , tandis que l'Eglise catholique refusera à cette femme de spectacle par deux fois divorcée , un enterrement religieux.

Extractions: Born in 1380, Nicolette was named in honor of St. Nicholas of Myra. Her loving parents nicknamed her Colette from the time she was a baby. Colette's father was a carpenter at an abbey in Picardy. Quiet and hard-working, Colette was a big help to her mother with the housework. Her parents noticed the child's liking for prayer and her sensitive, loving nature. When Colette was seventeen, both her parents died. The young woman was placed under the care of the abbot at the monastery where her father had worked. She asked for and received a hut built next to the abbey church. Colette lived there. She spent her time praying and sacrificing for Jesus' Church. More and more people found out about this holy young woman. They went to see her and asked her advice about important problems. The knew that she was wise because she lived close to God. She received everybody with gentle kindness. After each visit, she would pray that her visitors would find place of soul. Colette was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. She knew that the religious order of women who followed St. Francis' lifestyle are the Poor Clares. They are named after St. Clare, their foundress, who was a follower of St. Francis. During Colette's time, the Poor Clares needed to go back to the original purpose of their order. St. Francis of Assisi appeared to Colette and asked her to reform the Poor Clares. She must have been surprised and afraid of such a difficult task. But she trusted in God's grace. Colette traveled to the Poor Clare convents. She helped the nuns become more poor and prayerful.

Some identify him with Saint Balther , the hermit of Tinningham (Benedictines). Died 756. A monk-priest of Lindisfarne, Balther became an anchorite at Tinningham on the Scottish border, where he lived on Bass Rock, near North Berwick, surrounded by the sea. His relics were enshrined at Durham, with those of Saint Bilfrid (below), the anchorite (Benedictines). Died 335. Consecrated bishop of Bologna by Pope Saint Sylvester , Saint Basil ruled his diocese for 20 years (Benedictines). Died c. 758. A monk hermit at Lindisfarne off the coast of Northumberland in northern England, Bilfred was an expert goldsmith. He bound with gold, silver, and gems the famous Saint Cuthbert's copy of the Gospels of Lindisfarne, written and illuminated by bishop Eaddfrid. Today sucked, yeah, my router was giving me hell and wouldn't let me access the internet, i had to reset it (last resort method and it worked...bastard!) So i didn't write my english online thingie yet, even. hohohoho, well, i was well reading the assignment but then mother called and asked if i wanted to go with her to some guy's retirement party. Of course not, but hey, I am always so cruel and mean to my mother so as an effort to be kinder, i agree. It takes her forever to get ready (i should have written everything, then) and we verbally fight all the way there. Pisses me off all the time! The little things, you know. When you live with someone so long and as silent as me, it really becomes irksome, and soon you find yourself with mini-eruptions to respond to their anger. And I'm admitting this because i feel i should say things here i would not otherwise voice, but thinking of Chris. kyaaa x_x how ashamed i am! I think of him more than I'd prefer in the fact that i think of him at all. But he is actually my only friend here (though it's hard to say 'friend' i guess, he's never sure of our non-existent relationship) so i presume it only natural to think of him. Besides, he was something to do in my doldrum life and now he occupies my thoughts. This is dangerous, though, i'm fully aware I'm capable of morphing my feelings into almost anything i want. I can make myself like somebody. If i think of him, bad things may happen and i say NEVER! And I don't think I'd ever admit, even to myself if it is true, that because he's my only friend in this area, i'd have nothing to do without my torturing him. I musn't need anybody. I've been alone plenty of times, i'd be okay, i have my Marylanders!
