4-0 out of 5 stars The Wayward Wind
Sloan Harper has not had a good decade.Five years ago, he watched his family all perish in a horrific fire that was set by another. Then he was sent to a federal penitentiary for a crime he didn't commit. Both the fire and the trumped-up charge for his imprisonment were done by the same man, and Sloan vows that someday he will get revenge. When the opportunity arises, he escapes and heals from his ordeal. Then he sets his plans in motion. He is going to steal his enemy's only heir and beloved daughter (who are one in the same). He figures that is the only thing he can take from Dalton that might hurt as much as Sloan has hurt.He plans to get Peyton pregnant, thereby setting her ruination in motion and damaging the Dalton name. What he didn't count on were the feelings he might develop for her, or how her father will react to the capture.

Payton Dalton has long wished for a life different than the one she has.She wants a family to call her own with a husband and maybe even children. But her controlling father will never let that happen. He has groomed her to take over the ranch and all that entails, though it will deny her what she really wants. Then suddenly she is kidnapped and her world is turned upside down.

The Wayward Wind was a good, solid story, but it is not one of my favorite stories by Ms. Boyett-Compo.I felt that the story was set up nicely, but then it seemed to skip a number of steps in relationship building in the middle.I felt that the way Peyton accepts things and how Harper seems to change his mind happened a little out of the blue.I did like the different characters, especially Snake, and the descriptions of the times and border areas. So while The Wayward Wind is an interesting look at the ruthless land barons in early Texas, it just didn't click with me.That being said, Ms. Boyett-Compo has written a number of books I have thoroughly enjoyed, so I will keep seeking her out as an author.

5-0 out of 5 stars WindKeeper
Prince Conar Aleksandro McGregor is the Prince Regent of Serenia. He is arrogant and somewhat childish, yet honorable in all his dealings with others. As a child, he had suffered dearly, with that pain being etched into his soul.He will let no one know what has been done to him.Upon being the recipient of an attack in a stable, he is surprised to receive assistance not from his Elite Force but from a beautiful young woman. His pride takes a beating when he realizes that this woman has saved his life.In his arrogance and conceit, he reluctantly allows her to travel with him to his home since that is her final destination, not realizing that this journey will change him completely. He tries to find out more about Liza to no avail. They encounter dangers, and along the way he finds love. The problem lays in the fact that he is betrothed to another and is to be married within the year. His heart lies with Liza, yet he has a duty to his country in marrying his betrothed, Princess Anya Wynth, Firstborn Daughter of Oceania.

Liza is a courageous and secretive woman who knows how to defend herself. From the moment she saves Prince Conar from an attack, she is intrigued and curious about him.She worms her way into riding with him to his home as well as into his heart. On this journey, she learns more about Prince Conar and slowly falls in love with him, the person, not the title. She is powerful in her own right, and allows Prince Conor to see her power in order to save him.Liza freely gives herself to him, knowing that he belongs to another.

Windkeeper: Wind Legends is a story full of love, romance, adventure and intrigue.Charlotte Boyett-Compo has created a world that I could clearly see in my mind's eye.I suffered and cried with Prince Conor, and I cheered for Liza. When an author can draw me in as Charlotte Boyett-Compo has done, I know that the story is a winner.I devoured every word and sighed with longing when the story ended too soon for me.Charlotte Boyett-Compo leaves you with a great follow up ending, and I can't wait to read her next installment in this series.Windkeeper: Wind Legends is a recommended read for all

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Dark Fantasy Romance....I Loved It!!!
I think this book rates in my top 5 as far as keepers.I devoured this dark fantasy, and believe me....it is dark.
Prince Conar McGregor is only 20 years old, but one reading this book wouldn't think so.He is far more mature than his age.He has responsibilites. He is to be King one day.He has trained to be a soilder, is well educated, and even has a handful of illegitimate children. And he is also hiding a dark secret, a secret that has ruined his childhood and scarred his soul. And with all that against him he was still able to love.

Conar met Liza while on one of his journeys. She basically saved him from death while he was fighting some thieves. One snuck up behind him and that was when Liza intervened. He was astonished to find out the person who saved him was a woman. He was impressed with her warrior skills, and later when she tells him her intent is to love him, he is astonished. He doesn't have high regard for her race. But that quickly changes when they began their journey to his home in Serenia. He begins to see she is differnet from any woman he has ever known. She cares about him not as a prince, or what he can do for her...but as a man.The man he really is inside, the man no one else knows.

But their love does not seem destined to be as Conar is to be married to Princess Anya from a different land. This kills him for he will love no other but Liza. And on top of all that, there is an evil sorcerer named Kaileel Tohre who wants to destroy Conar.Tohre has made it his life mission to make sure Conar feels no happiness.

In this book Conar is made to endure such pain and loss, that my heart went out for him.But that pain was rewarded richly at the end, and was a pleasure to read. I loved this book.Their was so much depth and emotion.Liza was such a strong character. She was smart, independent, and a skilled warrior. She was also devoted to Conar, and to her love for him.And Conar was one of the strongest hero's I have read about in a while. He had endured so much physically and emotionally, and still he was able to give and love.I cannot wait to read the rest in this series.

5-0 out of 5 stars terrific romantic fantasy
Hearing rumors about his fiancée whom he never met, Prince Regent of Serenia Conar McGregor dreads his upcoming marriage to Princess Anya though he knows he must fulfill the obligation his parents made for the good of his country. However, he reconsiders honor and obligation when Liza the keeper saves his life using a dagger more adept than any warrior he knows. At first thinking "he" would make a fine soldier apprentice, Conar realizes that his rescuer is a female as she rides off on her steed Windkeeper with him following her.

A storm sends the couple seeking shelter in the keep of Conar's younger twin brother Galen who detests his sibling for being in the way of his inheriting the throne.Galen has allied with the evil sorcerer High Priest of the Brotherhood of Dominion Kaileel Tohre, who "owned" and abused Conar as a child leaving him unable to love anyone. With Liza assisting the Prince against deadly foes, Conar begins to learn that life truly is leaving behind his living dead existence for her love.

The opening tale of the Windlegends Saga, WINDKEEPER is a terrific romantic fantasy that stars a powerful cast who make Charlotte Boyett-Compo's sword and sorcery world seem authentic. The story line is action-packed from the moment that Liza rescues Conar from thugs and never slows down until the final altercation, which provides a fine finish to this tale and sets up the next book (see WINDSEEKER).The lead duo is somewhat typical of the sub-genre, but no one will care an iota as they go about their adventures with fans rooting for them to succeed as a couple and against the Brotherhood turning WINDKEEPER into a keeper.

Prince Conar McGregor and his wife, Princess Anya "Liza" Elizabeth, were still deep in love. Conar and his father, King Gerren, ruled the Serenia region of the world. Liza was part of the Multitude, one of the Daughters of the Sea. Few knew that, of course. She was more well known for her ability with a crossbow. Conar and Liza were dedicated in their quest to destroy the Brotherhood of the Domination.

Conar's evil twin, Galen, wanted Conar dead and Liza by his side. Knowing this, the Domination planned to use Galen as a way to force Conar into returning to the Great Abbey of the Domination - from where he had escaped just before the age of thirteen.

The sorcerer known as Kaileel Tohre had always had a dark fascination with Conar. He wanted Conar the same way Liza did, as mate. To save Liza, Conar would return to the Domination and complete the Rite of Passage to become "One of the Chosen". Then he would go through the Final Rite of Consecration. If Conar lived through it, he would BE "The Chosen One of the Chosen"! Conar would possess the combined power of the White and the Black Paths.

The battle between good and evil continues!

***** RATED R for dark fantasy scenes and violence. No one under the age of 17 should read this series! Fans of Charlotte Boyett-Compo will cheer the release of WINDKEEPER, originally available only in paperback under the title THE KEEPER OF THE WIND. Complete with previous pieces that had been edited out, WINDKEEPER is destined to become a best seller.

The three thieves thought him an easy mark, little suspecting that the intended victim was Prince Conar Alexsandro McGregor. Conar would have fairly beaten all three of them in a fair fight if the innkeeper hadn't arrived at an inopportune moment. But help quickly arrived from a most unexpected direction. Concealed in the loft, a mysterious stranger leaps to the Prince's aid, showing deft proficiency with weapons. But this was no ordinary weapons expert. Indeed, when the expert of blade and crossbow is revealed to be a woman, Conar is astonished. His rescuer only gives the name Liza, refusing to reveal her surname, heritage, country or past.

As they journey together, Conar falls madly in love with the mysterious beauty. But he has been pledged to another since birth. It was the deceased Queen's wish that he marry Princess Anya of Oceania as her parents were close friends to herself and the King. Conar has refused to journey to meet his intended, relying on another's account of the young woman, who has been described as a limping toad -- certainly no comparison to the mysterious Liza. And so a promise is made, that while on their journey, they might be together. And when the journey ends, so does the romance. But a heart is a delicate thing, and not likely to give up that which it loves.

Beneath the surface of Boyett-Compo's romance runs a tantalizingly evil subplot. Conar, without full memory of his past, has fallen victim to the evil Brotherhood of the Dominion, a sinister sect of warrior priests dedicated to the erudition of free thought and the enslavement of humanity. A vicious and cruel sect, the Domination is led by Kaileel Tohre, a priest who intends to control the prince and has sorely underestimated the adversary he faces with Liza.

A rich and complex weave of adventure, romance, and fantasy, WINDKEEPER is an extraordinary tale with great promise of powerful sequels. As readers have come to expect, both humor and grace are well balanced in this tantalizing novel. Indeed, move over Robert Jordan, for you have competition. With the depth of characterization so easily penned by Boyett-Compo, these characters live long in the readers memory, demanding the story continue. This reviewer not only very highly recommends WINDKEEPER, but wishes the sequel were ready now! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful fantasy
After torture as a child and not knowing any nurturing outside of cruelty, Prince Conar of Serenia is loved and returns that deepest of feeling to his wife, Princess Anya "Liza" Elizabeth. Before meeting and falling love with Conar, Liza was a member of the Daughters of the Sea.Together they are a formidable team dedicated to the destruction of the Brotherhood of the Domination.

Conar's twin brother Galen wants his sibling dead and Liza by his side. The Brotherhood of the Domination evil sorcerer Kaileel Tohre sees Galen as a pawn to use to regain control of Conar, as he once had when he subjected the lad to his abusive hegemony. He plans to lure Conar back to the Domination's Great Abbey where he ruled supreme over Conar the child.Liza will serve as bait for Conar will risk his life and his freedom to keep her safe even if it means completing the Rite of Passage to become "One of the Chosen" with the powers of the White and the Black Paths.

The second tale in the "WindLegends" saga is a fantastic fantasy that as with the first tale, WINDKEEPER, the story line is character driven with an intriguing triangle.Liza and Kaileel "compete" for the "affection" of Conar while Galen wants him dead as he covets his sibling's relationships with the two of them.It is the love-hate that Kaileel and the hate that Galen bring to the plot that turns WINDSEEKER into a unique fabulous tale that can stand alone, but it would behoove the audience to start with the excellentWINDKEEPER to understand the fab four even better.

WINDSEEKER, by Charlotte Boyett-Compo, the latest installment in the Wind Legend Saga, continuing the great love affair between Prince Conar McGregor and his wife Liza, in addition to the battle against the evil of the Dominion, a sect of evil determined to conquer mankind.

Conar holds a long denied appointment with destiny. As a child, Conar fell victim to the Brotherhood of the Domination, those who would use his throne to serve their needs. In WINDSEEKER, the Dominion uses his brother Galen and wife Liza to lure Conar into their evil clutches, intending to complete the rites begun when Conar was a boy. In those early days, Conar was victim of the evil priest's desires and lusts. When he came home to his father's palace, his spirit was broken, he was ashamed to live, and tried to commit suicide. Nevertheless, the much-scarred boy survived to become a devoted, loving man and future king.

No man goes to the Great Abbey unless he seeks the Rites of Passage into the Order of Dominion, but when Dominion kidnaps Liza with Galen's aid, Conar risks his very soul to rescue her. Conar knows that the Dominion may allow him to go back to to his father's kingdom, even sit upon the throne of his homeland, but They would rule him; They would control who and what he was. He also knew the Dominion might even allow him to keep Liza at his side, but it won't matter. After the Rites of Passage, he will be One of Them, and Liza would be lost to him forever. The Dominion strives to posses Conar because of his special gifts; that is, he will have the combined power of The White and The Black Paths.

Once again Boyett-Compo weaves a fascinating tale of love, betrayal and passion; one that holds the reader rapt, praying for a glorious hero's survival and mourning the damage inflicted by evil. As Boyett-Compo's Wind Legends saga continues to develop its mythos, the extraordinary power of the tale leaves the reader enthralled, appalled, and desperate for more. Combining the Brotherhood of the Dominion with its counter-group, the Sisters of the Multitude, Boyett-Compo delivers richly varied characters of depth and power. I for one look forward to learning more of the mysterious sisters and of the gifts Liza keeps hidden. Hurry, Charlie, I can't wait for book three! Very highly recommended. ... Read more

Charlotte starts the story in a contemporary setting. However, she nicely incorporates the past with the present along with twists and turns that bring the book together in a rather spiraling ecstasy that intimates with raw sex and storytelling bringing the novel to a fulfilling conclusion.

Along the way, the novel suggests moments in which the novel shows pure strength and structure, while in others, it puts forward moments of confusion, especially when the story brings in more Reapers and Demons among others besides the main triangle affair.

The novel has explicit moments that are nicely incorporated giving us a better understanding of the triangular reciprocal affair. One of the best parts of the story is the story telling within the novel, along with the triangle love affair between the three main characters. There is sadness from the loss of a close friend, strength, love, laughing along with wit and justice, Reaper versus demon justice.

I really like the novel, mostly for what I didn't anticipate. - Dyanne Doezz ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An Unholy Love!!!
I had searched for a copy of this book for weeks.I am soooooooo glad that I finally found a copy.Nightwind is a chilling, incredible read but it is not for everyone.

Lauren Fowler is in her forties, plain and somewhat mousey. She has never known love, not from her parents or from anyone in the town in which she lives. She has no friends and is somewhat tormented at work. She is constantly overlooked and is utterly alone. One night, her desolate cries of anguish are heard and are about to be answered.

Syntian Cree, a NightWind Demon, hears her cry.It is different from all the rest and he centers in on it, instinctively knowing that Lauren is different. She is meant to be his and his alone. He rises out of Hell's own pit, bent on claiming her.

As soon as Lauren encounters Syn, life begins to change for her.He is alluring and seductive. With his charm and handsomeness, he easily sweeps the lonely Lauren off of her feet. She cannot prevent herself from falling madly in love with him.But there is a chilling side to Syn one which she does not see.Bad things happen to those who hurt Lauren . . .

This is an incredibly written story filled with love, sadness and betrayal. The ending totally left me stunned.

I would recommend this book to all who love paranormal romances. If I could change one thing, though, it would be the ending. No!I won't give anything away but for me, Syntian Cree was the ideal "dark" hero. I know there are those out there who would totally disagree with me but I (like Lauren) grew to love Syntian Cree.Despite his chilling wickedness, I didn't want his story to end in the manner in which it did.Despite this, NightWind was an incredible, chilling read.

Highly Recommended!!

5-0 out of 5 stars I very highly recomend this book
I highly recomend this book as well as all her others. Each book captures your attention and you won't stop reading till the very last page. In "NightWind" you will find, love, happiness, obsession, magic, and triumph, all of which Lauren finds as well as finding her ancient heritage and magic. And Sentian, a very sexy man and one who finds love across the ages proving that love can be found everywhere. This is a very compelling story that will stay with you, a story that you will not soon forget. For all you dark fantasy fans and romance fans alike, Charlotte Boyett-Compo's books are not to be passed up. She gets better with every book she writes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very highly recommended
In the "Afterward" of NIGHTWIND, Charlotte Boyett-Compo tells the story of sitting in a bus station waiting for family members to arrive. She loves to watch people, and a young woman who went totally unnoticed by everyone around her captured Boyette-Compo's interest. Her skirt was a little too long, her blouse a little too loose, her hair mousy, and she seemed to shrink into her surroundings. Amid the hustle of the terminal, she was an isolated island of loneliness. A gorgeous guy approached where she sat, and as her gaze lingered on his sexy attractiveness, he didn't see her, but looked right through her as if she didn't even occupy space. Boyette-Compo vividly carries this image of loneliness, of a woman who longs for her presence to be noticed, in a vivid, haunting tale of the paranormal in NIGHTWIND.

At forty-six, Laureen Fowler had never been kissed, had never been on a date, had never had friends, and had never even been given a polite greeting by her neighbors. She was the target of disdain and cruelty at the bookstore where she worked and of her mother's cruelty outside of her job. In her loneliness and isolation she often cried herself to sleep, crying out to the universe her agony. She didn't know someone heard and answered.

Syntian Cree, the NightWind, heard Laureen's call and takes vengeance on Laureen's oppressors. Under his loving attention, she grows into her full potential, becoming a strong, forceful, beautiful woman. Syn's victims lie damaged or dead, and Laureen is vindicated. She's also in love with a force she does not understand. And as powerful as he is, Syn is oath bound to another. Refusal to answer this other's call will cast him into the pits of the Abyss. Indeed, Laureen has many powerful, dangerous secrets to learn and battles to fight if she is to find the answers and results that she seeks.

The first novel in the WindDemon Trilogy, NIGHTWIND Combines elements of the paranormal, including demonology, witchcraft, and the supernatural. Indeed, Boyette-Compo captures the very essence of what it is to be isolated, and the amazing transformative power of love and faith in one's self. NIGHTWIND is one of those gripping novels that shocks, horrifies, and mesmerizes the reader. The highly developed characters, the mythology that provides the foundation of the tale, and the deft plot twists and turns lead to a satisfying, though shocking, conclusion. This novel is a must read.

4-0 out of 5 stars No go-away-closer escapade
As my introduction to this genre (dark fantasy/romance) I found Nightwindto be an entertaining and fast moving story. The heroine Lauren Fowlerdoes not fit the standardwriter's guidelines for romantic femalecharacters. She's forty-four, and old maid, notparticulary good looking, and a bit of a wimp as she first appears.Of course a handsome intelligent hunk (chisled features and all) arrives on the scene to engageher disusedlibido, and by the end of the first chapter a lurid crime iscommitted on her behalf.

It takes off from there at a high pitch, nodull backstory warm ups, no interminabledescriptions of romanticlandscapes or gothically furnished drawing rooms, nor the usualcatalog ofcute quirky personality traits so common to the perky and spunky youngwomansetting off on a romantic go-away-closer escapade with dark andhandsome virile maledestiny. Not that Synthian Cree, the male interest, does not fit that description to a tee. But he's hardly Mr.Right.

Indeed, potential male readers can rest assured that Nightwindis not a ladies book perse. It holds some shocking surprises. It couldhave benefited with is little more mundaneguy appeal. A little moremachinery or technology, maybe.Indeed there were two glaringlapses ofyour basic car knowledge that threatend to nosedive my suspended disbelief. Now,if Lauren could have been a shy female computer programmer or automechanic...

This is a well crafted story and it's obvious thatCharlotte Boyett-Compo has done thissort of thing before. The plot iswell paced and structured. There is always some elementof troublebrewing for the heroine, pushing the reader on to the next chapter. Itslinear unfolding of events and graphic scenes would make it work well as ascreen play. Background information on the characters is inserted deftlywith short narrative summary instead of story-stopping flashbacks. Not apretty story, it's actually gets rather ghastly and gory, as Lauren moveson to her real destiny, with romance on the back, albeit hot, burner.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Spellbinding Treasure
If I could give this review more than 5 stars I would. This book has surpassed all of the other books I have read by Ms. Boyett-Compo. To say it is spellbinding, fantastic and outstanding would still not be sayingenough. If you haven't read this book yet, you are missing a truetreasure.

Syntian Cree, a NightWind demon has come back to Earth. Thelonely and desolate cry of a woman has beckoned him once again. This timehe knew it was different, she was different than all the others before her.He was lost to her even before he arrived; she would be his and hisalone.

Lauren Fowler is in her mid-forties and has never known love fromanyone, not even her parents. She is lonely and friendless, even in thetown she has lived all of her life. She does not know her cries have notonly been heard and answered, but also her life is about to change in a waythat she never could have imagined.

Syntian sweeps Lauren off her feet, courting her in the old-fashioned way that befits a lady. Although strangethings have been happening since Syntian arrives in town, she neverquestions him and allows herself to fall deeply in love with him. So muchso that she agrees to become his wife, without knowing the truth behind himand what he is.

This begins a story of love and heartbreak, betrayal anddeceit. The results will stun and shock you, leaving you speechless andwanting more, all at the same moment. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Timeless Tales 5 Star Review

DarkWind, second book in the Demonwind Trilogy, by Charlotte Boyett-Compo, is an excellent read and can be enjoyed as a stand-alone. This second book starts onboard the United Space Alliance Medivac ship where Dr. Caitlin Kelly is forced to tolerate an incompetent Captain Wellmeyer. With a crew that feels that Dr. Kelly was unfairly denied the command position of Captain, Caitlin finds it a little too easy to mock the captain and approach dangerously close to insubordination.

Then the crew answers a distress call and pick up faint life readings on a planetoid devoid of indigenous life. Soon Caitlin finds herself in the midst of a queer scene full of bodies of amazon-like women; the only survivor was their tortured prisoner, Khiershon Cree. Cree was a Reaper, bred to be an assassin, wanted by the society of women know as the Amazeen for crimes they perceived were imposed on them. Cree soon realizes that Caitlin is his soul mate and he sets out to win her heart, despite the objections of his friend and protector, McGreggor. In the meantime, Cree takes command of the Medivac and intends to use it to infiltrate Amazeen space in order to free his fellow Reapers.

Across the cosmos on the planet Earth, another Reaper, Kamerone Cree, loathes the boredom that has been forced upon him in order to remain free from the Amazeen women. His struggles in frustration are something that his human mate Bridget cannot understand. His boredom is short-lived, however, when a squad of Amazeen women captures him and heads back to Amazeen space with the intention of viewing his execution. But he finds sympathetic women among those who captured him, as they come to realize he may not be the murdering assassin they were led to believe.

Charlotte Boyett-Compo's DarkWind is a well-written piece with an intriguing plot. The action and brisk and holds the reader's interest to the very end. This novel is so enticing that this reader intends to purchase the first book to learn more about the Amazeen's war. I'm also anxious to see what happens in the last book of the trilogy. This novel would appeal to readers who enjoy vampire or werewolf books since the Reaper is a similar shape-shifting creature. It will appeal most to readers who enjoy a novel with a strong science fiction plot with some romantic aspects.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Incredible Read: DarkWind-Book Two ofWindDemon Trilogy
I hadn't had the pleasure of reading this author before, so when I received an ARC version of this novel, I was very leery. Not only was it listed as fantasy, which for the most part seems hokey and lame to me (just how many rings and swords are missing in the world) but more importantly, it was a second volume of a series. I usually stay away from series I can't read from the beginning, because it usually leads to a bad reading experience. However, my fears were ungrounded and this is simply a wonderful book. I have no idea how the other ones are, but if they are even close to this one in regards to the quality story telling, you are in for a real treat.

Simplifying greatly, as this novel opens, Khiershon Cree has a problem.

"He was hanging spreadeagled from thick chains embedded in the cave walls, his feet barely touching the ground, his manacled writs flung wide to either side of his sagging head. His bare chest was a riot of star-shaped burns that glistened with each shallow breath he took. His black leather britches were torn at one thigh, ripped along one cuff."

If being barely alive thanks to the attentions of the Amazeen isn't enough, he is a Reaper. He is the most wanted man in the universe as well as being a skilled assassin. Within his body, lurks a parasite that provides him extraordinary strength as well as healing abilities. In exchange, because of the parasite, he is part humanoid and part something that closely resembles a werewolf. The parasite, at times, demands of him that he must feed and during those times known as the "Transition" he is almost a mindless beast capable of incredible violence.

The Amazeen were torturing him and planning to kill him because after being forced to do their bidding, they fear his as well as his son's existence. Unfortunately, for them, the warriors guarding the prisoner ingested Hemlock for some reason and had not managed to kill him first. His parasite allowed him to hang on, barely existing, for Dr. Caitlin Kelly and the crew of the United Space Alliance Medevac Ship, The Orion to find him.

Despite dire warnings of doom from the last guard as she died, Dr. Kelly orders the prisoner to be cut down and brought aboard ship. All that come in contact with him, seem to be strangely attracted to him and this is just one of the puzzles the crew must unravel as they struggle to keep their patient alive. Slowly, the pieces begin to fit and the crew begins to understand who, or more importantly, what he is. Dr. Kelly is strongly attracted to Cree and he is as well to her, and their budding romance serves as a backdrop and motivation to save his life beyond the normal doctor/patient relationship. She helps him hide when the Amnazeen come looking for him but soon discovers that while she is deeply and surprisingly in love with Cree, he is something completely beyond her experience.

At the same time, while Cree is a skilled assassin and warrior in his own right, the Amazeen are a powerful enemy. With possible links to the ancient race of Amazons on Earth, they believe the only good Reaper is a dead Reaper. The chase continues across star systems and planets as the Amazeen seek to find and destroy Cree and his bloodsons.

Combining romance, science fiction, fantasy and other elements, this novel was simply a great read. The characters are complex and engaging with great writing as well as some humorous interjections and social commentary. This novel was extraordinary and simply a pleasure to read from start to finish. This is one novel, even if you are not a fan of fantasy, well worth the investment. Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars A brilliant sequel!
Man, I spent an entire afternoon absorbed in this book! While the wife yelled about the gutters, I was hiding in the den so wrapped up in the tale, I read right past lunchtime. This was a great continuation of a really terrific tale and I am looking forward to reading the third book in the series. Believe me when I say this is one heck of a great read! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars LOVED this book.
I'm not a big fan of romance novels at all. But the romance between the two main characters here felt very real, and was easy to get into. The science fiction element was an extremely big part of the plot. If you don't like space ships and robots, this isn't the book for you.

Action, romance and occasional humor. Great read. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Hardwind
Dáire Cronin was almost killed on his last mission, thinking about the fight he had with his lover, Star Kiernan. He works for a top-secret government agency and Star is fed up with all of the secrecy and long absences. She is moving on, but Dáire can't seem to let her go. She is the only woman for him, will always be the only one for him.

Dáire's boss, Tyndall Gentry owns him. She dominates every aspect of his life, but she has failed to make him want her like he wants Star. She is a dangerous foe, more so than Dáire and Star thought possible.

Hardwind is an edgy and fast moving erotic thriller. I was captivated by the relationship between Dáire and Star. They had sexual chemistry that leapt off the pages, and the reader warning was very appropriate; sexually explicit with steamy love scenes. With a vividly presented emotional conflict between Dáire, Star, and Tyndall there was no doubt in my mind this would be a rocky journey for two people who were meant to be together. Together, Dáire and Star are a formidable force to be reckoned with.Tyndall is a truly obsessed and nasty individual while Daniel Jackson, Dáire's friend and partner, is a charming one. I thoroughly enjoyed the fast-paced storyline, the brilliant characterization, and unique twist to an old scenario.Charlotte Boyett-Compo is a gifted writer to watch. Her storylines drawn the reader right into the midst of the conflict and doesn't let them go until the dramatic conclusion.
