4-0 out of 5 stars Charlie and the Chocolate Factory it Ain't
But, if you liked Charlie as a kid, you may just have the twisted sense of humor it takes for Dahl's adult fiction. And I do mean adult. It's a human pheremone-toutin, spouse-swappin, hoppin into bed with an unknown lepersort of extravaganza not for the faint of heart. If you like your storieswith sex and your sex with irony and your irony with extra spicy irony ontop of that, you may have found your new favorite author. ... Is it really possible to invent a machine that does the job of a writer? What is it about the landlady's house that makes it so hard for her guests to leave? Does Sir Basil Turton value most his wife or one of his priceless sculptures? These compelling tales are a perfect introduction to the adult writing of a storytelling genius. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Well Worth Reading
Though Roald Dahl's reputation comes mostly from his children's books, these stories, though mostly aimed at adults, are worth reading. This book is full of short stories with somewhat bizarre twists to them, though they are enjoyable all the same. My favorites are Mrs. Bixby and the Colonel's Coat, The Butler, The Landlady, Parson's Pleasure, The Umbrella Man, Vengeance is Mine Inc., and Taste.
In Vengeance is Mine Inc., Two brothers named George and Claude move to New York with only four hundred and fifty dollars. When they run out of money, they become desperate. Then, Claude gets an idea. The brothers start a company called Vengeance is Mine Inc., which sends out letters to rich people who have been insulted in the newspapers, offering to punch the offensive columnist them in the nose, black their eye, put a rattlesnake (with venom extracted) in their car, or kidnap them, take off their clothes (except for underwear), and dump them on fifth street at rush hour.
After just two days of sending out letters, they already have to punch someone in the nose, put a rattlesnake in someone's car, and kidnap someone (with the above specifics). Do you want to know if they succeed? If you do, you'll have to read the book.
However, if you do decide to read the book, you will end up reading a lot of other great stories in addition to this one. The endings are just as varied as the topics of the stories. Several are slightly gruesome, others are very interesting, and one of them is very sad. Generally, though, they turn your expectations inside out and upside down, with witty (though sometimes outdated) humor and clever plot lines. If you enjoy this kind of thing, I highly recommend that you read this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars The umbrella man and other stories
It has taken me nearly ten years to complete my collection of Roald dahl books in hard back and this was worth the wait.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
Simply an amazing book. Roald Dahl does have quite the reputation for creating children's books, but this is no child's book. Each story is so brilliant that you would think there were several decades of planning put into each one. A few will leave you frightened, some will leave you gasping, some might leave you roaring with laughter, and others will have you feeling sad.
But I assure you, no matter what feeling these stories leave you with, each and every one will be accompanied by satisfaction.
Roald Dahl was a saint when it came to children's books, but if you haven't read any of his Young-Adult (I like to call them) classics, then you have no idea what true literature is. I also recommend some of his other non-children's books, such as, one of my favourites: Going Solo.

5-0 out of 5 stars Umbrella Man
I am a huge Roald Dahl fan, so naturally I am a bit biased.I love this compilation of short stories, and I constantly reread my favorites, which include Mrs. Bixby and the Colonel's Coat, The Butler, Man from the South, The Landlady, The Umbrella Man, The Way Up to Heaven, Royal Jelly, Taste, and Neck.If you like Roald Dahl's stories as much as I do, I recommend Dahl's Omnibus, which compiles most, if not all of his short works.

4-0 out of 5 stars Rain Rain Go Away
Thirteen tales of horror and hilarity from master storyteller: Roald Dahl. How much will you pay for revenge? Would you stake a bet on your little finger or on your only daughter's hand in marriage? Each of the thirteen stories collected here will grab your attention and keep you riveted till the very last words. By turns shocking, ironic, humorous and touching, these tales are filled with bizarre twists and unexpected delights. This collection proves Roald Dahl's standing as one of the world's finest storytellers. My favourites in this book are The Umbralla Man, Mrs Bixby and the Colonel's Coat,Parson's Pleasure and Taste. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Adventures of an Obedient Child
Mr. Dahl recognized exactly how to keep children amused. There are thirty chapters in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"; each chapter is short and ends with a suspenseful line or paragraph. There are twenty chapters in "Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator"; although the chapters are long but the ending of each chapter is still able to evoke a child's curiosity thus suggesting to them to continue reading. Although "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is more well-known especially with two movies out (so far) based on the story (of course the storybook is much better although the efforts of adapting the story onto screen for both versions were pretty amazing), I prefer "Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator" because it is sillier; the adults are portrayed to act eccentrically juvenile. The number of made-up words are many more and the jokes surrounding the words are out-loud laughable. Also, the relayed messages or the lessons learned have deeper and truer meanings. Although the titles for both seem to indicate that Charlie is the main character, in actual fact, the major role is played by Mr. Wonka. But, since these stories were written for children as the key audience, the adventure of another child would grasp the interest of a kid better. Mr. Dahl was a genius! If "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is a children's fantasy, "Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator" is more or less a children's science fiction, and both are delightful. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars thought it was a hard cover
I wish I had known that this book was a paper back. I had seen the hard cover in the library with beautiful color illustrations by Quentin Blake and was disappointed to find that this was a b/w, pocket paper back version.

4-0 out of 5 stars A cute Dahl book for very young children
I have read many of Roald Dahl's books and enjoyed them all. I picked up a clearance bundle of Dahl's books so I could read them to my son and this book was in there. I have never even heard of this book. It is just a slip of a novel; around 70 pags or so. It was a cute little read and enjoyable. Nothing outstanding, but a fun read all the same and short enough to keep the attention of a younger child than most of his stories are aimed at.

A little boy lives next to an old shut-down building that used to be a candy shop. Then one day he sees that the building has been cleaned up and now has a sign on it "Ladderless Window Cleaning Company". The cleaning company consists of a pelican, a monkey, and a giraffe. And the little boy is whisked away on a window cleaning adventure that in the end makes all his dreams come true.

This was a cute, short novel. Appropriate for very young children; I think even a 3 or 4 year old would be able to follow it and enjoy it. The pictures are black and white sketches and enduring in their own way. It makes a nice addition to my collection of Dahl books.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun read
I would recommend any Roald Dahl book for a child. Its definetly a fun way to learn to read.

4-0 out of 5 stars An inviting way to compare literature
Reading, James and the Giant Peach, as a story first created interest in the Play Copy of the story.Envisioning the interesting characters talking, interaction and setting was enlightening and enjoyable. My grandson, Parker was introduced to literature's written connection to drama.

4-0 out of 5 stars Easy fun on stage!
I love the play versions of Dahl's work.
Same magical stories adapted into a very managable script with ideas for staging, lighting, costumes and props.I am a teacher and this is a script I will definitely consider using when teaching Children's Theatre.

3-0 out of 5 stars An OK play but...
Although this is a perfectly adequate play for elementary schools to perform I was disappointed that it was so much shorter than the book and left out alot. The heavy use of a narrator to tell much of the story rather than the actors detracts from this adaptation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Recommend Highly
Roald Dahl has always been one of my favorite children's book authors. His books often are slightly dark, but triumphant in a way that remind you of Lemony Snicket and Harry Potter. In this tale, however, James is an orphan living with horrible aunts. He escapes his horrible existence when he climbs aboard a peach that keeps growing and growing. Delightful in that he gets to live in a peach, and everything in the peach including a worm gets to become James' size as well. Also recommended are Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events and the Emily Cobbs Collection.

4-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable tale of a boy who fights for freedom, magically
This tale is full of magic, suspense, wonder, and even bugs.
Get half a page in and you already find out where JK Rowling got Harry James Potter's name from (James Henry Trotter is the star of this book). This is such a great book to read to yourself and an even better book to read to your kids. The imagery and the magic are great. The Cloud Men and the rainbow paint are just imaginative enough for little kids to love.
I docked the book a star painfully. It was because Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is so much better than this and there has to be some kind of scale.
James and the Giant Peach is a book you should read; it's a book that tops most peoples' kids' books of all time lists. ... Read more

Product Description
Danny’s life seems perfect: his home is a gypsy caravan, he’s the youngest car mechanic around, and his best friend is his dad, who never runs out of wonderful stories to tell. And when Danny discovers his father’s secret, he’s off on the adventure of a lifetime. Here’s Roald Dahl’s famous story about a 9-year-old boy, his dad, and a daring and hilarious pheasant-snatching expedition. Just as important, it’s the story of the love between a boy and his father who, in Danny’s own words, is “the most marvelous and exciting father a boy ever had.”
Amazon.com Review
"My father, without the slightest doubt, was the most marvelous andexciting father any boy ever had." Danny feels very lucky. He adores hislife with his father, living in a gypsy caravan, listening to his stories, tending their gas station, puttering around the workshop, and occasionallytaking off to fly home-built gas balloons and kites. Hisfather has raised him on his own, ever since Danny's mother died when hewas four months old. Life is peaceful and wonderful... until he turns 9 anddiscovers his father's one vice. Soon Danny finds himself the mastermindbehind the most incredible plot ever attempted against nasty Victor Hazell,a wealthy landowner with a bad attitude. Can they pull it off? If so, Dannywill truly be the champion of the world. Danny is right up to RoaldDahl's impishly brilliant standards. An intense and beautiful father-sonrelationship is balanced with sublegal high jinks that will have even the mostrigid law-abider rooting them on. Dahl's inimitable way with words leavesthe reader simultaneously satisfied and itching for more. (Ages 9 to 13) --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Danny Champion of the World
This is a sweet, sweet story of a father and son working together out of love. The ending is great!

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed with Danny Lit. Guide.
To say I was disappointed with this product and how much it cost me is an understatement. The content is minimal. When I went through the sample pages it seemed to show a lot of potential. But when I received it there was very little further content. In total there are 16 pages 2 of which are title page and contents page. There areonly three reproducible pages. The chapter summaries are quite good, but the Vocabulary builders section is very limited as is the Cross-curricular activity suggestions. Regarding the price of the book, that in itself was not expensive at $5.00 however, by the time shipping was added, I ended up paying $40.00 +. I thought I was getting a pack of 4 or 5. But on receiving and reading the single copy I would not consider giving the extra copies to colleagues or our school libraryas I initially thought of doing. I have used this service before and have been happy with it but this episode has me thinking that buying sight unseen material is not recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good father-son book!
Let me first start by saying that not only am I purchasing this book so that I may read it to my son but I am trying to find a hardback worthy of passing down to him so that he can read it to his kids as well. I read this myself around 4th grade or so and now am wishing that my father could have read it with me. I'm not sure "Right-of-passage" is the best term but... for a young boy who is staring to enjoy the art of imagination through reading, this is a great start! Just as I'm sure Little Women is for girls. I followed this up with Johnny Tremain, The Hobbit, Tom and Huck and Moby Dick...just to name a few more adventures. I read a review that condemned this book and the only thing I can say is that "he" must have been a sheltered child and has NO imagination even now.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mischief and Adventure!
A story that some say promotes mischief in the form of poaching pheasants!

No stranger to mischief as a child, I loved it! Particularly the part where the drugged pheasants all wake at the wrong moment and reveal the scam! The main character, Danny, is imaginative, intelligent and brave which will appeal to most children.

So many great books by Roald Dahl (ah, the BFG! Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!), but this one resonated with me because of a place we lived when I was young, a little English village called Horringer, with a beautiful park called Ickworth. A place of gamekeepers and poachers where a walk at dusk became an Adventure and the whirr of a pheasants wings exploding from the grass beside your feet would make your heart pump and your skin tingle!

A wonderful, fun and imaginative story! Kids will love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars A delightful adventure
One of the lesser-known works of the late Roald Dahl, the author behind Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach, Danny the Champion of the World is the delightfully fantastical account of a young boy and his father taking on a small patch of tyranny and emerging in snickering triumph.

Danny lives with his fun-loving father in a small rural caravan in England, helping with the family service station and soaking up Dad's country wisdom. Along with the craft of vehicle repair, Danny learns to find adventure using everyday objects. The pair creates all types of toys, from kites and boomerangs to "fire balloons" and stilts.

One night, Danny wakes during the night to find his father missing. Though his father comes home safe, Danny's life will never be the same.

Out spills a secret about not only his father, but many of the townspeople he grew up knowing. Soon Danny has hatched a plan to carve out his own place in the history of this fantastic secret.

Dahl is known for his ability to delight audiences of all ages. Like Charlie and James, this work reflects his ability to see through young eyes. Danny experiences life, from listening to his father's bedtime stories to sinking his teeth into a delicious meat pie, with the thrilled awe of a child.

Dahl's descriptions of people, particularly the not-so-nice varieties, are hilarious. One of Danny's teachers is described as having "fiery carrot-colored hair and a little clipped carroty mustache and a fiery temper. Carroty-colored hair also sprouted out of his nostrils and his earholes." A childish word like "earholes" thrown in with the vivid description of "Captain Lancaster" is a nice touch.

The book features illustrations by Quentin Blake, who provided drawings for many of Dahl's other works, as well. Though simple in form, the illustrations are a nice compliment to the story. The pictures of Captain Lancaster and of Mr. Victor Hazell, the story's primary villain, are particularly nice.

Danny will appeal to anyone who likes a bit of adventure in everyday life. The book, at just over 200 pages, is probably best for readers ages nine and up. The tale itself is good for anyone who's old enough to hear it read aloud, perhaps as a nightly installment of bedtime stories. ... Read more

Product Description
This book is a mixture of anecdotes covering Roald Dahl's family, his childhood, and his happiness at home with Liccy, his wife, and their numerous children, grandchildren and friends. For this extensive family, there is no more enjoyable way of relaxing than sharing good food and wine. The meals they enjoy together round the old pine farmhouse table at Gipsey House are either fine examples of national dishes of their heritage - Norwegian, French, British, etc - or favourite recipes that have delighted three generations of discerning eaters. Many recipes have acquired a particular significance for the Dahl family over the years, and these are introduced with reminiscenses rich in nostalgia and humour. The recipes are for all occasions, covering family birthday parties, Christmas and Easter celebrations, Roald's passion for chocolate, onions and wine, his enthusiasm for gambling and gardening and finally, a Dahl-style chapter: "Hangman's Suppers" - contributed by Francis Bacon, P.D. James, John Le Carre, Peter Ustinov and others. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Eclectic Cookbook
This is not your regular cookbook. It is part memoir, part love letter to family members and part recipe book. His words and wisdom are warm and touching and, whilst many of the recipes seem to hark from another, slower era, it is a fascinating read, along the same lines as Jane Grigson or Elizabeth David. Deeply British.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good

There's a quiet zaniness that runs through the lot of these stories. Most of them are crisp, surprising and smoothly written at every turn. "The Way up to Heaven," "Parson's Pleasure," "Genesis and Catastrophe" and "Pig" delivered the best twists and overall fun for my tastes. Great literary and psychological foreplay.

5-0 out of 5 stars No wonder Roald Dahl's stories are always macabre...
It's no wonder "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "The BFG" and even "Matilda" are thrillingly outrageous stories, because the short pieces in "Kiss Kiss" also display Roald Dahl's macabre and unexpected thoughts. In this case he weaves them around seemingly real-life situations. "Georgy Porgy" is particularly disturbing as George ends up getting drunk and then going mad when he feels he's conquered his fear of women, while "Royal Jelly" shows Albert Taylor turning his baby daughter into a big human bee like himself. Then there's the birth of Adolf Hitler in "Genesis and Catastrophe" and his mother wanting him to live after the deaths of her three previous children - and the whole world knows what he did during the Second World War - while "Edward the Conqueror" shows Edward obstinately refusing to believe that the cat Louisa discovers is a reincarnation of Franz Liszt...before throwing the creature in the fire. In "Mrs. Bixby and the Colonel's Coat" it is clear that Mr. Bixby found out that the mink coat his wife pawned was given to her (by the Colonel) and he punished her by secretly giving it to Miss Pulteney, while in "Pig", vegetarian Lexington becomes a tragic hero by eating a piece of pork and then meeting a death in the packing-house as horribly cruel as it is for pigs. But my favourite story is "William and Mary". It is unnerving in that Mary is appalled by the idea of William's brain being kept alive, together with one of his eyes, after he dies, but when she goes to the hospital to see the conclusion of this experiment, she likes the sight of William's brain immersed in Ringer's Solution with the eye glaring at her, and is adamant about bringing "him" home with her. The experiment itself is also unnerving, as is the short film that Landy watches showing the Russian dog's head licking away food and watching people that gives him the idea for the experiment. It just goes to show you how imaginative, how remarkable and how successful Dahl was as far as all age groups are concerned during his writing career, and that even his adult stories are as macabre as "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" etc. Truly masterful.

5-0 out of 5 stars so mind boggling, it'll twist your world
This book was great!I haven't read Roald Dahl's other adult books, but they're probably just as good. It's a collection of short stories with a twist at the end.My favorite would be Georgy Porgy, if I remember the spelling correctly. That ending was so twisted, I'm still trying to figure it out.Anyways, I recommend this book to people who love weird stories.Hope you enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite Roald Dahl collection!
This is my favorite collection of Roald Dahl stories.Regrettably I bought my copy while traveling. As the idea of adding the weight of books to my increasingly large pack became less and less appealing I opted togive my copy away.I now wish I owned a copy of this.I consider it hisbetter collection of macabre stories.

4-0 out of 5 stars Dahl-icious
Too bad Dahl's short story collections are so hard to find; he was one of the best, right up there with Saki and O. Henry. This early collection has a few really delicious tales, particularly "Parson's Pleasure"and "The Landlady," and one about a baby that gets fed some sortof special food and gradually turns into a giant bee -- just the kind ofthing only Dahl could pull off. This collection is worth tracking down, especially if you are a Dahl fan. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Really only suitable for Primary School productions
Although this script tells a shortened version of Dahl's great classic it has become too simple. I bought this script with the intentions of using it for a Secondary School production using pupils aged 11-16. After reading it through I realised the script was far more suited to younger children. Its clear though that it has been adapted to suit a cast of about 20+ (Including Oompa Loompas) by allowing extra parents to accompany the ticket holders into the factory.

Personally I'm going to use small sections of the script alongside some sections of the film. (The first version, as I preferred it and it is available online if you google it) I'll also probably adapt some sections from the book.

I would however commend the writer for providing scenery, prop and costume advice in a section at the back of this book.

If you want an easy production with young children then go ahead and buy this script. I would especially reccomend this option to anyone who would need the extra advice in the back about staging and scenery. If you want something a little closer to the book you might be better off adapting your own. A lot of extra work I know, but far more worth it... cheaper.. and you wouldn't have to worry so much about paying for the rights etc to put it on.

5-0 out of 5 stars good deal
I found this play purely by accident. Our school is intending to perform this play, and I was looking for the actual book and other resources that might help us with our production when I came across the play.It is actually the same script (in a different cover) as the one sold by a script company, but the price was much cheaper. We still have to pay the royalties to the other company, but we were able to save a little by purchasing the script from Amazon.Imagine our surprise to be able to get them at Amazon's special four-for-the-price of three price.

5-0 out of 5 stars "It's Scrumdidilyumtious!"

"It's Scrumdidilyumtious!" those are the famous words of Willy Wonka the chocolateer. He is an inventor of many candies from his factory. One day Willy Wonka said "All right I'm sending out 5 golden tickets in the candy bars. Then every one started screaming for them.

Charlie Bucket the 5th golden ticket finder is a considerate and very nice to people. Charlie is very poor, and lived with his four grandparents and his mom and dad. Veruca the 2nd golden was very snobby and very rude. Veruca was so snobby that she fell down a shoot because she was being rude. She asked her dad for a squirrel. Then she slipped and fell down the shoot. Violet the 3rd golden ticket finder turned into a blueberry. She did not listen to Willy Wonka. She had eaten a piece of gum that was not ready yet. Then they had to roll her out of the room to squeeze the juice out of her.

Augustus Gloomp was the first golden ticket finder. He got stuck in a tube full of chocolate. He could not swim so he got sucked up in the tube. Mike Tevee was the kid that got turned into a candy bar. He got turned into the candy bar because he got put into a TV that turned him into a candy bar. To find out what happened to Charlie you have to read this book called "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: A Play" by Rauld Dual.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great adaptation for kids
As a teacher, I find this book a valuable resource for teaching the different forms of theatrical plays. As the latest Tim Burton's adaptation opens wide, my pupils will experience a whole range of text types from the source material. An excellent read too! My kids had a good laugh, just from the experience of role-play and Reader's Theatre. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully entertaining and original stories for kids and parents
Before buying this audio book, I did not know very much about Roald Dahl's stories.Even Mom and Dad have enjoyed the eccentric characters, great voices and witty dialogue. My kids (ages 5-13) listen to these stories again and again.Very silly and slightly scary in places (like all good fairy tales), but thoughtful and interesting for the whole family.

5-0 out of 5 stars Supurb!
These are absolutely wonderful stories told by a fabulous storyteller: the author.Who else could express the works better?Mr. Dahl has such a soothing voice that my family often listens to these tapes at bedtime and gently drift to sleep.I have two daughters, 7 and 3 years old.We highly recommend these tapes.

Product Description
Published in 1943 and long unavailable, Dark Horse Books is proud to present this landmark book from the author of such beloved tales as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach and Matilda. Digitally restored, this remarkable presentation of Dahl's classic story, lavishly illustrated by the artists of the Walt Disney Studios, will delight readers of all ages! The Gremlins is the story of Gus, a British World War II fighter pilot, who during the Battle of Britain turned to look out on the wing of his plane only to see an amazing sight: a little man, no more than six inches tall with horns growing from his head, drilling a hole in the plane's wing. Gus was the first man to ever see a Gremlin, and what happened after that would change the war, and the world, forever. Bought by Walt Disney to be produced as an animated motion picture (and considered to be the first story featuring the mythical airplane sabotaging creatures known as Gremlins), the project was ultimately shelved and is reprinted here for the first time in over 60 years. ... I gave this book to my father -in-law for Father's Day. He had remembered it as a boy growing up in India. His father was with the British military and he could recall reading it as a youngster and enjoying it. Fortunately it had been reprinted so it was easy to find on Amazon. He is still talking about it and it proved to be a wonderful gift!

I remember that my Grandmother gave me this book shortly after WW2 when I was about 11 or 12.I fell in love with it and was sorry that it got lost somewhere. To find it again and see the original drawings (just as remembered) and the story was wonderful.Thank you for this treasure.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Classic
Over 60 years ago, the talented Roald Dahl was not the author we know him to be today.

Instead of finding him at his typewriter creating stories for children of all ages, he was a RAF pilot. As any airman knows, strange unexplained things can happen to aircraft. Taking this as an inspiration, Mr Dahl made use of the word 'gremlin' and soon, the RAF had a new enemy that took a place beside the Germans. Gremlins....In the original story, these gremlins could be seen on wings and fusealges of aircraft mid air. Un-noticed pings were caused by these tiny, mischevious beings with drills, hammers, and tools designed to undo the manufacturers best.

Where did they come from?

According to the 'myth', the gremlins lived peaceably in a forest glenn until an aircraft factory replaced their familiar home. Not a race to take their eviction sitting down, the gremlins fight back by attacking the very planes that leave the factory. During the Battle of Britain, Gus is downed during a dog fight with a Messerchmitt squadron. Landing in the hospital, he realizes that the Gremlins can be used for good, and trains them to repair rather than destroy. The war ends, and Gus purchases the land near the factory, preserving a solitary stand of forest for the gremlins.

Fast forward to 2008. Gus' grandson, Gus, crosses the ocean from America to sell the house and return home. Good plan, but he does not know about the clever inhabitants of the house who will do anything to preserve their native forest. Exactly what they will do is yet to be seen.

Like any Roald Dahl story, Gremlins (as re-released by Dark Horse in 2006), is a wonderful, innocent story with simple truths. Mike Richardson has re-captured the feel of the original with his continuation that brings the mighty mites into our century. His Gus, is a man of integrity. Old Gus, was a man of integrity. Old Gus worked with the gremlins. So far, young Gus has been captured by them, but he has already discovered that the quick sale was not all it seemed, and that the little folk have minds of their own. The odds are that we will soon find a cross generational team that will take on all comers.

The art by Dean Yeagle is perfect for the book, and reminiscient of Richard Sparky Moore during his Disney tenure from the 50's to the 80's. Yeagle illustrates the book with clean lines and simple panel structure. Viewed as a continuity, it could even serve as a rough story board too!

As a special bonus, the original story is presented in the back of the book. But, why settle for a 4 page version when you can buy the fulll, original 1943 book by Dahl and Justice.

This is one book that all ages can enjoy. You might want to wait for all three issues to be available, these guys are too much fun for just one issue!
