sneetches and other stories
could never find this book in the stores if i tried. amazon has every old book ive ever looked for. love these stories the most. my mom read this to me when i was little and now i read them to my 4 year old. she loves them just as much as i did 20 years ago. great book!

Sneetches-The Book to Read
This book is fantastic. My daughter age ,11 took the book to school and her teacher created an assignment around it. The lesson was about class and race and that everyone is the same. What a way to teach children about discrimination and segragation in a simple fashion and fair treatment! This book deserves 10 stars. I would reccommend this book for any age group from 5 and older.

Ah, Sneetches.

This book comes with four Seuss stories. It is a mark of the man's skill that he was able to write a clear moral for each of them without being too preachy. (He didn't always succeed at this, which is why I refuse to buy a copy of the Lorax, but when he got it right he was SO right.)

The first story, Sneetches, is a pretty clear moral about discrimination. The ones with stars and the ones with "none upon thars" run back and forth and back and forth trying to have the right number of stars until they are all fleeced out of all their cash. And then they figure out that a Sneetch is a Sneetch, stars or no.

The second one, about the Zaxes, is what happens when a south-going Zax meets a north-going Zax and neither is willing to budge an inch. The world doesn't stop, no matter how long they stand there, and a whole city goes up while they glare at each other.

Mrs. McCave had 23 sons and she named them all Dave and if there's a moral here (other than "Knock it off with the zany theme naming!") I can't find it. Good fun, though :)

And finally, that one about the scary green pants that walk around with nobody in them and scare our narrator witless until he realizes they're as scared of him as he is of them.

They're fun, most of them have a good moral, and they're Seuss. What more can you ask for? (Note: Some kids might find that green pants story a little scary.) ... Read more

one of my favorites.
This is one of my favorite books by Dr. Seuss. I think it is a really well-written story about the who who is afraid of the pale green pants with nobody inside them. It is a typical Dr. Seuss book, which the typical rhymes and some non-sense that everyone loves. The two characters glow in the dark (if the pages have been under light first), which makes it even more enjoyable for children.

Great book for thrill seeking Kindergarteners
My Son is showing interest in "scary" books. This is a great book and the glow in the dark feature makes this a bedtime favorite. Keep a flashlight handy!

We Are Not Scared of Dr. Seuss!
We read this book as a class with Mrs. Lowe in first grade to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday.Caroline likes the main character, the little yellow guy, who was afraid of the yellow pants.Roosevelt like the part when the yellow guy would run and the pants would follow him.ZyQuan said this book was a little scary when the yellow guy hid in the tree and first saw the scary pants.Jesston also said the pants were scary because there was only air in them.Even though the book had scary parts we still loved it.Great job Dr. Seuss!

Great great story!
It is amazing that the book shows kids this type of teaching SO thoroughly!!!
Everybody has an experience or two of scared/afraid feelings of getting to know a new thing/people in their lives. My kids are 2,3, and 5 but they SURE understand pretty well of the concept!It also glows in the dark, so it was even fun for them to see :)

It's nice to go back & re-read Dr. Seuss, and then look at the parallels Kemp draws with Bible verses & stories.Makes for good discussion.

Enjoyable
I found this book interesting, but I only suggest this book to someone using it as a sermon or a lesson plan. It's a good book, but when going with the books concept, you're better of using the Peanuts books of the same nature.

For the Kid in All of Us . . .
While reading this excellent book, I was taken back to my own childhood days, back to Green Eggs and Ham, The Sneetches, and of course, that loveable Cat in the Hat.Of course, author James Kemp brings out subtle details in the stories that I never saw as a child . . . a deeper truth that permeates the writings of Theodor Geisel, also known as Dr. Seuss.

A great way to use this book is to read one of the short chapters for yourself, then reread one of the Seuss classics with your kids.You'll be able to share spiritual truth with them in a fun way.

Great Small Group Study or Personal Devotion



James Kemp has crafted a little devotional book with a substantial amount of meat. Based on the story within beloved and not so well known Seussian characters and books Kemp shares some the basics of the Christian life and faith. Topics like ecology, racism, forgiveness, humility and faith are covered in the thirteen short lessons. Only ninety pages, this is a perfect book for small groups. Though there are no follow-up questions, a creative person could easily craft some. Teens might find the writing a little adult but the ideas could easily be adapted for a youth group.

Dr. Seuss Goes To War: Suess before Mullberry Lane
This book is full of very interesting facts and compilations of Dr. Seuss' work before he started writing for children.I enjoyed every bit of it and give it 5 stars!

Dr. Suess Goes to War
I have not purchased this book yet but my 11 year old son and I look at it in the store. These cartoons are fascinating, but I was especially intrigued by a group of them depicting the major newspapers and groups creating division among people of the United States. This is obviously going on now with the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, but I never knew that the media back then was pulling the same thing! Very interesting book.

History buff husband loved this volume!
My husband studied WWII history in college and is fascinated with all things from that time period.Our toddler loves the Dr. Seuss books, and this was a home-run Christmas gift received this year.Perfect for the history buff dad in your life.

entertaining and educational--the best
I really liked this book. I found it fun and educational. The whole point is the art. The book could stand alone without any additional comment. I found the commentary about right in length and tone, but this is a real judgement call. I was very interested in the evolustion of the message from before the war through the time that Seuss left the paper.
I had not heard of the PM so that was another thing new to me. One additional cute personal story. I ran into the book at the lirbary today and read it in one sitting (not a problem with a graphic book like this). When I found it at the library, I remembered that I had purchased this book, but had not read it. When I pulled up the book here on Amazon, it told me that Ihad ordered it on December 24, 2007. Now, I hope that I can find my copy!

An excellent reference, but still incomplete
The cartoons collected in this volume are a fascinating retrospective of an early, and largely unknown facet of Dr. Seuss's artistic skill. While it is understandable that it was not possible to include all of Dr. Seuss's editorial cartoons in this book (about half of them are reproduced), it is very frustrating to read repeated notes in the text to cartoons that were "not included" - if they were important enough to be mentioned, they should have been printed, as well.
What makes this worse is that large portions of the text are not commentary at all, but merely restate what appears in the pictures as published. It would have been much more efficient to dispense with the superfluous textual descriptions that merely parrot the cartoons, and concentrate more on the (very valuable) explanations about the background and the persons that Dr. Seuss has parodied in each drawing.
Some of the most valuable comments include instances where the caption that was pencilled in by Dr. Seuss is different from the caption that was published. Unfortunately, these important references are not footnoted on the page of the affected cartoon, instead, they are left buried in the text.
Happily, the book does (on the very last page) include an Internet reference to the University of California, San Diego, where one may (with a little dogged persistence) find a collection that includes all of the Dr. Seuss's editorial cartoons, including all those that were described, but not printed in this book. ... Fun book!
Fun book to read! The rhymes are incredible and very tongue twisty. I enjoy reading it to my son, which is a good thing, because he asks for me to read it all the time.

Granny Goose
I am going to be a new grandmother soon and I wanted to get my new 'little person' the books that my children enjoyed the most to keep the legacy moving forward. A few years ago we lost my precious developmentally delayed daughter. This was one of her favorites. This is our way of keeping her memory alive in the generations to come. Best childrens' book you'll ever read... FUN!
If you've never read this book, read it out loud to your kids, and if you can get through it, you were reading too slow... Too much fun to read!

Oh, my brothers! Oh, my sisters!
This is Seuss at his best! All kids enjoy this book, mostly because of Dr. Seuss' infectious rhyming and made-up words, but partially because it's fun to hear your mom or dad stumble and trip over silly tongue-twisters. My boys cheer if I can make it all the way through the freezy cheese trees. I bring this book with me when I do story times, because it's a consistent crowd favorite. Nothing like a good Tweetle Beetle Battle to get kids excited about books.

Nat's 1st book
I loved the story and the pictures, I'm kind sad because the book is soo tiny... It's a great book.

Great for bonding with your partner and your belly!
Although the size of this book is small, the joy we got out of reading it to my belly was not! It states right in the title that this book is meant, "... to be read in utero" and that's exactly what we did every night. My husband and I would read to my belly every night before going to bed. After about a week, the baby would respond, by moving, every time we read it. We would take turns reading it so that our son could hear both of our voices. I never read it to my son after he was born because we have the original book, but Dr. Suess books are some of his favorites to this day (and he's 18 months old now).
I am purchasing it this time for my best friend, who is expecting her first child. My husband and I are now expecting our second son and we plan to start reading it to him every night as soon as he can "hear." I would recommend this book for exactly what it states itself to be: "A book to be read in utero."

Disappointed in size
I didnt look closely at the dimension size of this book and was disappointed to see how tiny it was. I had originally purchsed it as a gift for a baby shower to have guests sign in lieu of a card. It unfortuntaely is too small to use for it. The book itself is cute incorporating the different Dr. Suess books that children will be introduced to. It should be noted that this book is not like oh the places you will go despite the cover being similar.

Fun book and helps baby know parents' voices
Of course this can work with any book you read out loud during pregnancy but this one is fun with it's silly words and of course it's Dr. Seuss. We read it out loud during my 1st pregnancy and when my daughter was born she recognized my husband's voice right away and stopped crying. I've bought this for a bunch of my friends for their 1st pregnancies.

Not the right book for everyone
Unlike some of the negative reviews, I am not slamming this book because of the small size (which Amazon clearly describes), nor its intended purpose (again, also advertised: "To Be Read in Utero"), nor even because it is essentially a laundry list of Seussian keywords inserted into the classic Oh, the Places You'll Go!, itself a great book for children and young adults alike.

But not growing up with Dr. Seuss myself, I tend to have a critical eye when I read them now as an adult. The rhymes are all-time classics and the artwork is both fanciful and bizarre, however some of the messages are questionable (i.e., peer pressure in Green Eggs and Ham), and some of the stories themselves are quite violent (i.e., Thidwick the Big Hearted Moose).

Oh, Baby is therefore best for those parents who: A) enjoyed and fondly remember Dr. Seuss stories themselves; and B) plan to read many if not all of the full-length versions to their child in the future.

Not really for the nursery
Although this board book is very clever and well done, it has parts to it that a child under 3 years old will not be able to handle with the care it needs.There are great textures for touching and an adaptation of a Dr Seuss story, which are always fun.I would definitely recommend it, just not too early.

Our daughter's favorite book!
A friend of ours had this on her baby registry; on a whim I picked up a second copy for our baby.What a stroke of luck!Our daughter loves this book.We keep it in the car, where she has "read" it to us on nearly every car ride since she was 8 months old.Although it's showing some signs of wear, it's been sturdy enough to handle the rough attentions of a very active baby for more than 10 months now.She loves to turn the pages, she loves the pettable interactive characters and activities, she loves the bright colors... and hopefully someday she'll love the words, too, but for now, we love listening to her babble happily with her book.We can't wait to give her "Happy Birthday Baby" from the same collection for her first birthday.Happy Birthday, Baby (Dr. Seuss Nursery Collection)

My son's favorite for months!!!!
This is my son's absolute favorite book!He loves it so much that if he's upset and see's the cover he gets really excited.He's 7 months now and started to adore it at about 5 months.In the last 2 weeks he started interacting with all the pages.He loves it so much and I've read it so many times that I have the book memorized and even if we're in the car and I start quoting the book it makes him happy.I'm going to purchase some others from the nursery rhyme series and hope he loves them just as much :)

Great interactive book
Great for babies and my 2 year old likes it, too.There are different things to feel on every page, not just the same thing in a different color.And there are just the right amount of words, and the rhymes are really cute.I highly recommend this book.

I think we all know by now "A person's a person, no matter how small!"

Horton, the hero, runs around trying to save the little whos while everybody else, of course, derides him and even tries to harm the clover for no reason other than that they don't understand.

There is a happy ending, and most children old enough to sit through it will enjoy it. As an adult, though, one thing keeps running through my mind, and that's the fact that the whos were in no danger at all UNTIL Horton decided to "save" them! I keep this thought to myself when reading to the nieces, though. I'm not sure they'd appreciate it :)

One of the all-time great children's books
Horton Hears a Who is one of the best children's books ever written. It has everything - entertaining, fun writing, a memorable main character, good illustrations, and a good message. A few people have said that this story has an anti-abortion theme. I admit that this thought also came to my mind; however, I think this is irrelevant regardless of your views on this issue. Children surely will have no concept of this. They'll simply understand that Horton trusted his own mind and stood up for the "little" people despite the obstacles and nay-sayers in his path. What a wonderful message for kids!

Horton Hears A Who by Dr. Seuss
I needed the book fairly quickly and received it in a timely manner. I had no problems searching or ordering the book. I teach preschool and I am able to find books and other resources on Amazon. The fact that there is no shipping and handling makes it more appealing to me as I don't always have the extra funds. I recommend using Amazon for your on-line shopping.

Perfect.

Hatful of Seuss
This book is great for children.I rated it 4 stars because I think the book is larger than it should be for children.The book has several stories in it and is rather thick.The stories are great for children learning to read on their own and learning rhyming.

Wonderful Seuss
Typically wonderful Seuss.A collection of favorites which still entertain and delight childern of all ages!Told in the whimsical, melodic, rhyming style that is Seuss' alone these stories present the challenges and triumph of basic human goodness that we want our children to learn.I highly recommend this collection.I read them to my grandson and notice that by the end of a story the whole house has tuned in and is anxiously awaiting that heart tickling sensation that comes at the conclusion of every Suess tale.

A good buy, but Six by Seuss is better
Two of the books collected here are classics (Sleep Book and The Sneetches) and the other three are also pretty good, so this is well worth buying.The now out-of-print "Six by Seuss" however, is an even better value, since it includes five of his very best stories (Yertle, Mulberry Street, the Grinch, the Lorax, and Horton Hatches the Egg) under one cover.I would recommend looking for that book first, then getting this if your child turns out to be a hardcore Seuss fan. ... If I Ran The Zoo
I read this book to our daughter all the way to Florida and back and thousands of times after that.I have now purchased it for my grandsons and it is by far the best of the Dr. Suess books.I recommend it to every parent and grandparent.

Dr. Seuss is So Stinking Creative!
I have to remember that this book was written back before political corectness went haywire.I had a little giggle to myself about the "helpers who wear their eyes at a slant," and "...from the blistering sands of the Desert of Zind. This beast is the beast that the brave chieftans ride...A Mulligatawny is fine for my zoo, and so is a chieftan. I'll bring back one too."and "I'll go to the African island of Yerka" which isn't bad, but the illustration, of two black men looking more like monkey than men is quite bad by todays standard.

There are a few more P.R. things your wouldn't see nowdays, but you have to date it to the time when it was written.It is still a great, creative story.The first words out of my daughter's mouth were, "Hey mommy, if ~I~ ran the zoo, I would..."

Good `Ol Dr. Seuss.Even though the rhyming got to be tricky reading aloud for my tried at 8pm brain, everyone enjoyed it.

A religious conversion guide for young readers
That may be a bit harsh, but as with many of Dr. Seuss' classics, _How the Grinch Stole Christmas_ can be read on more than one level. The Grinch himself is, after all, an anti-Christmas zealot so threatened by the Whos' enjoyment of Christmas that he resorts to trespassing and grand larceny.

The final irony is that _How the Grinch Stole Christmas_ *does* make an excellent choice for young children despite its religious message--the townsfolk display Job-like patience in the face of a seemingly ruined holiday--because it validates freedom of religion. Furthermore, the book rewards pacifism on both sides, as the Whos get everything back (and perhaps more significantly, win a convert in the process!) while the Grinch is never brought up on charges and instead joins in the celebratory feast. Pass the roast beast!

The heavy-handed lesson? All you need is (pun intended) a CHANGE OF HEART.

The book for the person that must schedule life around visits to the doctor
As we age, consulting health professionals becomes more and more frequent, with more body parts being examined in more and more detail. The extra scrutiny is not flattering; it is more in the line of frustrating, tedious, sometimes frightening and generally boring. Seuss captures all of these aspects of the life of the aging person and interjects a bit of humor into the natural consequences of aging. Few aspects of the inevitable medical consequences of growing old are enjoyable, so any humor or fun that can be poked at the process is of great value.
Dr. Seuss is associated with verse and prose for children, that doesn't quite apply here, the target audience is older adults in need of a bit of refreshing. I found this adventure through the medical maze enjoyable and plan on reading it again right before my next visit to learn the results of the latest sequence of medical tests.

Birthday Happiness
I bought these books for my seven year old twin grandsons and they love them.Since they are good readers, they are able to make entries independently of their parents' help so they're having lots of fun.The books were in excellent condition.

Not even in the same class
Total crap.I had to check whether he had this book ghost-authored and ghost illustrated.No clues yet.Did he do it on a bet to prove Random House would publish absolutely anything?

The writing is not even comparable to his earlier, familiar books.Those books were written in rhyme with nearly flawless meter.The meter is practically absent in the writing of this book.Yes, the lines end in rhymes, but the words are no fun to read at all.The book lacks a plot or unifying theme, unless it is that reading with one's eyes shut causes hat sag and eyebrow disomfort.That just doesn't do it for me.

It looks as if somebody tried to draw in his style but wasn't up to it.Several things depicted in the illustrations and the writing seemed to be picked out of earlier works ("mice on ice/ice on mice", as if the writer and illustrator didn't want to stray too far or come up with anything original for this one (other than the "young cat" character, which is in the lame and tired mould of cartoon "sidekicks" that were always added to 1970s cartoons in the second or third season after the writers used up all their good ideas).

Save yourself a couple of bucks.

Not so hot.
This book is disappointing, it is hard to pinpoint but somehow this book defeats itself in its attempt to encourage reading.Maybe in the part about red hot eyebrows or later but whatever the case I would read this thoroughly before buying.

Sadly, not Seuss' best
When I rediscovered my old trove of children's books and began to read them to my son, I found that Dr. Seuss' works held up the best; many of them, like "And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street," "Yertle the Turtle," and "Oh, the Thinks You Can Think!," are witty and charming enough to entertain an adult.

"I Can Read with My Eyes Shut!" is not a member of this category.

Seuss completely phoned this one in. The art is subpar, the meter -- usually the central feature of a Seuss book -- is inconsistent, and very little of Seuss' trademark mischievous whimsy is present. It's apparent that, regardless of whether he was doing this book for the paycheck or whether his deadline was too demanding, he just didn't invest as much effort into this one as usual. The bulk of "I Can Read with My Eyes Shut!" comes across as a joyless, fumbling retread of "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish," but with a tacked-on "reading is good" subtext.

Still, it's Seuss, and a two-year-old won't know the difference. But parents will, and you can't help but unfavorably compare this book to the rest of Seuss' oeuvre.

The Shape of Me
Children love Dr.Seuss! The fun rhyming rhythm even held the attention of my son when he was 6 months old! He's 10 months now and they are his favorite! It's also great that they come in a board book format so I don't have to worry about him tearing the pages!

Not quite my favorite
Dr. Seuss, of course, was extremely prolific. What this means for me is that some of his books I *adore*, but some I'm ambivalent about. This book is definitely in the latter category.

It's very easy for beginning readers to read, though.

The Shape of Me and Other Stuff
I used this for my preschool class during 'Read Across America'.It followed a 'shadows' unit, so the children related to it as a Dr. Suess book as well as a book illustrating shadows.Nice easy text and rhyme.

Entertaining
As with all Dr. Suess books, this one keeps you entertained. My little granddaughter (6) said, "Nana this rhymes!" Bright isn't she?

We got this book off our baby registry and I'm so very glad we did.One reason why I chose it is because they say babies can see high contrast (black and white and bright colors) the best during their first couple months and I wanted a book I could start reading to my daughter right away and would hopefully keep her attention - This is the perfect one for that!I thought the silhouettes of the figures and shapes would be great for her little eyes and little brain as they developed and she has loved this book right from the start!Now she is five months old and can't get enough of it!Not only are the high contrast illustrations perfect for babies but so is the text!The words are so easy to read, they pop right off the page - Plus they are so fun to read aloud.And the fact that it's a smallish sized board book makes it perfect for little hands.This is definitely a book a baby can grow into and love for many years!Perfect first book and a great way to get your baby hooked on reading from the get go.I highly recommend it! ... excellent spanish book
This book is absolutely awsome, not only because its author is Dr. Seus; it is also because it came in a beautiful edition with hard cover and the best translation in Spanish.
For a little girl who loves Dr. Seus stories and who is learning Spanish as second language, Un Pez, Dos Peces, Pez Rojo, Pez Azul is a great approach to the world of literature in a foreing language.

I am a native Spanish speaker and find this book pretty fun to read.I do not agree with some of the other negative reviews and think that the rhymes are nice and catchy, better than other Dr. Seuss books I've seen, and my daughter loves it.

Horrible traslation
One of the worst translations that I have ever read, don't waste your money, if you want some Dr Seus go for Huevos verdes con Jamon, that one has an excellent translation.

Excellent book!
I love this book! The translation is excellent and the rhymes are very funny! I read it to my nieces, who are bilingual, and they enjoyed it as much, if not more, than the English version. I own both the original version and the Spanish translation. Both of them are great!

One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, You didn't bother to make it rhyme??
Dr. Seuss is all about rhymes...this literal translation was obviously commissioned by someone only interested in making a few bucks, no consideration for the story or the kids reading it. Unfortunately, I did not realize that when I bought this book.

Could be better
At 71 I have memories of WWII. Even with those memories, the cartoons are lacking some background. Sometimes identifiers should be added. I don't recognize all of the carictures. Certain persons were mostly forgotten in post WWII histories so why they are lampooned is unknown by myself. I suspect that the selection is representive of the period but 60+ years later ....

Very cute book!
Dr. Suess is great and this is a great version of this book.My two-year old still has to have board books and loves this one about teeth!!

Not the best...
We love The Eye Book and The Ear Book, but this one is not the same quality of writing (in my opinion).It's okay, but I think there are better books out there that cover the topic of teeth.

Not as Good as Seuss's Own Illustrated Works
This book is a brief and playful introduction to the different kinds of teeth that are found in the world -- reminiscent of The Foot Book but not as good.The text is by Dr. Seuss and illustrations by Joe Mathieu; while children might enjoy it, it's not nearly in the leage of some of Seuss's best work, although it does include wordplay and the wonderful rhythmic text he is known for.It is disconcerting to hear Seussical rhyme with illustrations that are so different from his, and the effect is a little incoherent -- not quite hitting the mark.

Great rhyming book for little ones. Also like many Dr Suess books has an underlying message.

Great kid book
I got this from the library today. When I saw it on the shelf I did not think it was a Dr.Seuss book and almost did not pick thebook up. That just shows you really cannot judge a book by its cover. The pictures in the book look like something children would draw and I think that is part of why my children find it intriguing. The ryming helps the story flow and teaches kids about colors and helps them use colors to relate their feelings.

Purple is sad?And other bizarre color associations...
I'm a school social worker so I spend lots of time talking with elementary aged children about feelings & doing art therapy.I thought this book could be helpful in facilitating some conversations.ABSOLUTELY NOT.This book, unfortunately has several very bizarre color associations that I did not find helpful, and in fact, found to be downright confusing.To top it off, the book sends negative messages about the colors black, brown, and purple.

Here are the associations:
red = brave(most kids I have worked with use red for anger)
blue = bright, flapping wings (uh, didn't we learn from Joni Mitchell or Picasso?Blue can be sad & longing or CALM or peaceful... but since when is it bright & flapping???)
brown = slow & low low down
yellow - whee! busy buzzy bee
gray = nothing moves / everything is gray.
orange = circus seal
green = deep deep cool & quiet.
purple = sad.groan.dragging.walking alone
pink = happy (& impulsive: "it's great to jump and just not think.")
black = mad.loud.howl.growling.

I found the odd associations and language to be very off-putting.Some colors are paired with feelings that don't match in my mind at all, and others aren't even paired with feeling words, but moreso with animals.If you don't mind the weird match ups, the book might be fine for you.Otherwise, steer clear.

A must for your Seuss Collection
Our three year old daughter loves this book!A great book for talking about the different emotions that a person can feel.Also great for learning colors.A must for your Seuss collection.

Negative portrayal of "Black" and "Brown" colors
I was really excited about this book when I first saw it.The artwork is beautiful, with bright and vibrant colors.But then I got to the pages describing black and brown as being low and mad.How could I read this book to my brown/black child?She will already hear messages as she gets older that black and brown are negative.I did not want to start impressing on her these messages at home.I'm disappointed that Seuss would present such negative words for these colors that are used to also describe groups of people.I'm shocked by the insensitivity to issues of diversity, especially as this book was published not so long ago, relative to his other books.Needless to say, I wasn't comfortable reading this book to my child and returned it.A much better book to teach about colors is Brown Bear, Brown Bear Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?: 40th Anniversary Edition (Brown Bear and Friends). ... Green Eggs and Ham book review
Dr. Seuss breaks down the limitation of the norm with the book Green Eggs and Ham. He takes the unreal and applies learn strategies to it. I gave this book five stars because it gets the job done.This book introduces rhyming words and site word recognition.I would recommend this book for all students that seem to have a problem with identifying site words and rhyming sounds. The controversy of the green eggs and ham keeps it interesting which makes it fun to read.

Dr. Suess for when you're Seussed-out
I purchased this and "The Cat in The Hat" CD and they are the B-E-S-T thing I've picked up in a long time.My son loves reading and being read to, esp. Dr. Seuss, and these come in handy after I've read the 10th... 12th... 14th book with him that day.He plays these at least 3x every day.The voices (all well known actors) are very well suited to the stories they read and give a great alternative style to "mom's".Plus with 2 CDs in each collection my son never gets bored.

These audio books are great. The kids love to go to sleep listening to them which saves my voice. a great buy

my to-be 1st graders love this CD
The best readings on this CD are the ones by David Hyde Pierce (he played Niles on the tv show Frazier). He has a wonderful way of conveying the sillyness of the words and gives feeling to the repetition of words and tongue twisters. My sons love One Fish Two Fish (I like to box my glox)and Fox on Sox the best. They also like Green Egg's and Ham by the guy from Seinfeld (Jason Alexander I believe) and laugh everytime during the part when he goes underwater. They seem less impressed with the other reader, he's ok though.

Love the cd, but I'm not thrilled with the performances.
My two-year-old son and I have a lot of fun listening to some of our favorite stories in the car, but the performances are a little lackluster.I think Jason Alexander puts the most into his performances, but David Hyde Pierce and Michael McKean are just okay.In fact, since they are the only three voices on the cd, I get a little tired of them.But overall, the cd is enjoyable. ...
