Another early but confident;sorrowful but deep collection from the master poetess of this planet.

This is a beautiful, well-crafted work of poetry only Louise Gluck couldhave written. Though this is only her third collection of poems,"Descending Figure" possesses as much---if not more---power asany other book she has published. The most provocative poems are:"Descending Figure," which includes a brilliant sectionconcerning a child dying in his mother's arms; "The Garden;" and"Lamentations."
