Product Description
When you exhibit at a trade show, you’re in competition with everybody else. The average attendee who walks the show is exposed to a mind-boggling array of sights and sounds. You need YOUR booth to cut through the clutter. Get a head start by designing a "Wow!’ booth, using the tips in this powerful book.

This book starts by explaining the "why" of booth design, and how to avoid the traps that many exhibitors fall into. The authors explain why you have just one chance to get the prospect in your booth. They also tell you how use your booth to send the right message, one that will make the attendee want to stop. The book takes you through the "how" of booth design - from planning and budgeting, to choosing a designer, to making the maximum impact by creating a "visual speedbump." Whether or not you have a big budget, you can use the information in this book to design a booth that will stand out from the crowd. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Save Your Money!
This book is a total waste of money. Also, the author profile on Robert Sjoquist are exaggerations. This man has not started seven companies!I worked for him for two years and he is dishonest, has been married three times, and has been sued numerous times by his employees. He has also been sued by his customers. Not fit to give business advice.

2-0 out of 5 stars Wow! A basic book for absolute beginners...
The cover image is poor and a reflection of the mediocre contents. The title is a misnomer, as the author advises the reader to hire a designer. This is a very basic general overview of trade shows. Also, it is almost entirely focused on trade shows related to selling products.

1-0 out of 5 stars Told me absolutely nothing
The gist of the book is: 1)don't be like everyone else and 2)find a company to design your booth for you. There. Now you don't have to waste hard earned money on this one. If you use a trade show booth company to design for you, then you WILL spend a fortune. I am a designer and was expecting tips and tricks such as suggestions for lighting that are cheap (Exhibitors at the Buyers Market of American Craft liked track lighting at the Home Depot). Perhaps tips on building tables and other displays that are toolless to keep from using union labor to screw together a shelf...stuff like that. Instead, this book actually suggests using Installation and Dismantle supervisors...come on, how much do THEY cost? This book talks about the cost of the show and to which department various expenses should be billed to. If you have a company with different departments, you don't need a book with "without spending a fortune" in the title. Where's the book for the little mom and pop outfits that are dragging out the router and the dovetailing jig and building the display in the garage? The title is misleading. Nothing in there about cutting costs. If you really want some valuable info, check out: http://www.americancraft.com/toolless/index.html

2-0 out of 5 stars Does not tell you how to avoid spending a fortune
Before spending money on this book, if you have not seen it in a brick and mortar store, you should know that it is essentially an article typeset with a large enough font to be book length. This would not be a problem if it were full of useful information. In fact, about 1/4 of the book is excerpted from the author's other book Over 66 Tips and Tricks to Supercharge Your Tradeshow Promotions. That title is a better buy.It is also basically an article stretched out to book length, but it does offer some useful tips and is worth a read.(My only complaint about that book is one self-serving section suggesting that the CEO give copies of the book to everyone in the company).

The main problem with this book is it does not live up to its title. It is not written with the small business person on a shoe-string budget in mind.It devotes whole chapters to choosing the right person from your corporation to design your booth. If you have a small mom-and-pop operation you probably already know who will be designing your booth-- one of your three employees, and they will all be at the conference. There are some good suggestions for companies on tight budgets, but not as many as you might think based on the title. There are few specifics on how to be eye catching or on money saving ideas. Most of it is impressing upon the reader that you *should* be eye catching. That, you probably already knew. The other main piece of advice is that you should be targeting your display to those most likely to buy. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Beginners start
this is a great pack to get if you are begining to play star wars role playing game. it has every thing you need

1-0 out of 5 stars Very poor first outing.
I had very high hopes for this book. But it is a huge letdown. The infomation for the most part is not new. They mention equipment and give very few pictures for it. The Trade federation is in it. What for? They attacked Naboo they are not a part of it. They are interesting but needed to be in a different book.
There are NO prestige classes at all. Could they not think of any Prestige classes that would be Native to Naboo? It seems not. The whole book just comes off as a poor effort.
The adventure is close to half the book and isn't that exciting and is also set in the battle of Naboo. Too bad if that isn't where your campaign is set.
Is there anything good about it? yes there is. But not alot. They need to do better. Much better in future and give the players something real. Like what happened to Naboo during the Rebellion era and the new Jedi order? What events have shaped it if you want to use it in a future game. But it has nothing.

Very weak. If you have to have it then get it. Otherwise save your cash for some other SW products.

3-0 out of 5 stars Secrets, No. Some useful Material, Yes.
As the first real supplement for the new Star Wars Role Playing Game from Wizards of the Coast, `Secrets of Naboo' could have had a little more...well, a little more. `Secrets' is a complete misnomer, because it reveals nothing that could be considered unusual or out of the ordinary. In fact there are no secrets revealed that any moderately dyed in the wool Star Wars fan wouldn't already know. The proper title should have read something like `Fodor's Guide to Naboo', because although it is well written, it reads a little like one of the many country guides available in most book stores today.

It briefly covers both species to the planet-the humans and the gungans, but doesn't go into much detail about either. It talked about how when the humans first arrived on Naboo almost four-thousand years ago they went to war with the gungans because of vast differences, but in the end both races come off as being basically they same-both revere nature, but the Naboo build in harmony around it the gungans build in harmony with it. And the highly artistic, refined and intelligent Naboo view the gungans as backwards, primitive screwheads. It does have some Naboo customs, but most involve the Queen (as if she were the only interesting person on the planet), and what it lacks for either species is diet-what kind of foods do they eat, manufactured goods-what stuff do they make, marriage customs, you know, important stuff.

What it does spell out is that the Naboo are influenced strongly off Plato's Republic and Confucianism-children are constantly tested to see where the aptitude lies and they are placed into the profess. It also said that even the lowliest sanitation workers talked about poetry, and then went on to say that there is rising organized crime, and one is given to wonder if Naboo gangsters discuss politics while they break someone's knees. It doesn't really detail any of the cities other than brief mentions, and the maps are such a complete waste of time that might have not bothered with them at all.

Where it is good were portions on the various flora and fauna-including a section on poisons. All of the animal and monster stats were much appreciated as well. Plus the section on the criminal element on the planet was good, but again it could have done with more detail. And excluding the pictures from the film, all of the interior art and maps are basically worthless. But there just isn't enough meat to this source book, and I am pretty sure they could have filled the last 36 pages of a 96 page book with yet another retelling of the invasion of Theed! Come on, they already have a boxed set- that does just that and the Phantom Menace video game, and it really doesn't matter if this adventure is a little more detailed-it has been done already.

Is it worth owning. Tough call, but I'd say that it is. The game information is quite good and it is a genuinely well-written book. Plus, if you're like me and have to have most things Star Wars, then yes, go buy it. I only hope Wizards can stop fixating on the Phantom Menace.

3-0 out of 5 stars If your looking for "secrets" look somewhere else
Let me start off by saying that I LOVE the new Star Wars role playing game by Wizards of the Coast. These folks have done a great job at bringing this game over to the d20 system and Bill Slavicsek (Designer) is a gaming GOD!

This book is generally good stuff. The graphics are nice and all orignial. (keep up the good work guys). It's well organized and has many interesting things in it about Naboo and it's denizens. The part about the Trade Federation and their place in the galaxy is a particularly good read. There are a few stats that are new but that's basically about it. The page that deals with creating and running handmaidens is interesting.

While the book's generally good.... there are some major concerns I have with it. If you're looking for some good, new role playing things to throw at your players, you might want to look somewhere else. If someone from Wizards of the Coast is reading this: PLEASE GIVE US NEW ADVENTURE MATERIAL! It would have been nice to play something after the Phantom Menace had happened that had nothing or little to do with it.I realize you were maybe gearing this for inexperienced or new role players, but I don't like the "pull you by the nose, heavy handed", adventure in this book.

While I'm on the subject of this adventure... this is my biggest problem with the "Secrets Of Naboo" This adventure fills almost HALF THE BOOK. And in my humble opinion it'snot really anything new or exciting. The pages could have been better utilized with new info about the Gungans (the section on Gungans and Otah Gunga are enemic at best) WHY is boss nass green and different shapped then Jar Jar? Why is Captain Tarpals Purple colored. WHAT exactly is the sacred place the Gungans were hiding in? Where are detailed maps of Theed, Otah Gunga, the swamps, plains or the REST of the planet? (The sacred places, mountains, forests, swamps, ANYTHING).

This is good for info on the Trade Federation, various weapons and creatures found on Naboo. But there is nothing new or any "secrets" per say.

While this review may sound a little harsh, I would still buy the book again if I had to do it over. But hopefully further offerings for the Star Wars R.P.G. will be more thourough. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Dated computer technology, still can be read with benefit
This book is very dated in terms of computer technology, the computer whiz writes programs in BASIC on a computer with 16K of memory. Chip and his best friend Katie are allowed to work on the computers in the basement of a museum. Katie notices that some of the valuable gems in a case have been switched. Therefore, Chip and Katie decide to stake out the case to find out who the culprit is. They have a list of suspects, but none appears to be a more likely one.
Unfortunately, Chip falls asleep on stakeout and misses watching an additional transfer of jewels. However, they have a list of facts that he programs into his computer. The complete program is included in the book. It is five pages of BASIC code that could be entered and run. If that is done, then the solution will be generated. Readers are encouraged to type the code into their computer and run it. Once they have the answer, Chip and Katie go to the museum director with their information and the thief is apprehended.
Although the computing makes the story somewhat archaic, there is still enough here to make it interesting for a child. It is a mystery with many clues where a successful and logical analysis will lead to a solution. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars amen !
I've owned this little booklet for years and refer to it often.
Today a friend was trying to find some appropriate bible verses
for a bereaving friend, so I went to this booklet.
Mine has an adhesive on the back and sticks to the inside back cover of your bible, brother does it stick!
Problem is, I use a different bible now and can't un stick it from the old bible!
I am very particular about recommending books of this type, but this is a good thing to have, enough so that I am about to buy another one for myself and at least 1 or 2 more for friends.
Remember to think long and hard before you attach it to a bible, if indeed this one has that feature, cause it will be there forever lol!
When you need to find something on a particular subject, such as , bereavement, comfort, death, discipline of children, God's guidance, heaven, hell, joy, loneliness, pornography, stress, wisdom, and many, many others, this will refer you to the proper places in the bible.
This world needs to get it's nose in the bible and perhaps this aid will help!
Would it help you? go for it! ... Read more

If you ever work a trade show,or are in charge of staffers who do...YOU NEED THIS BOOK!Trade shows can and should be great sales and marketing tools for corporations today. But like any other tools, they have to be approached carefully and intelligently. The problem is that too many exhibitors and exhibit staffers don’t take the time to do their homework when preparing for a show. Sure, they put together a great looking exhibit and jam it with lots of products. Sure, they take thousands of brochures and catalogs to give out to “prospects.” Sure, they have preshow meetings to teach staffers about what products are on display, what their work shifts are, where the bosses will be hanging out, and where everybody will be having dinner. But the hard fact is that most corporations rely on the “experience” of their staffers to ultimately achieve success. They rely on staffers to already know how to work a show. They rely on staffers to know how to approach attendees, initiate conversations, determine the quality of the interaction, identify top prospects, capture contact information, and establish a mutually agreed-to, post-show follow-up action step....and too often that reliance would be sadly misguided. ...
