The book arrived as promised in great condition.
The book is one of James Patterson's earlier works (1977),
and is very dated, but still a decent book.

Early Patterson
I re-read the paperback so many times it fell apart and had to buy it in hardcover.
The story of Damian and Carrie Rose high priced contract killers who create a bloodbath

Good, but not his best
I have always enjoyed James Patterson. This book was good, but a little more violent and graphic than I like.Still a good read.At the time I bought this book, I also purchased Leith MacArthur's "Losing Amber Lee".That was an excellent book with a different twist.Worth reading.

Patterson does it again
James once again, gives us a lightning fast, action packed story with twists and turns to make Sherlock Homes grin. I had to read just one more chapter, until I finished the book in one afternoon. Get this one, you'll love it.

worst patterson book yet
I've read several of James Patterson's books and enjoyed almost all of them -- except this one.Not only was it difficult to get interested in, it never seemed to move along.Typically I can read one of his books in a few days, this took almost 2 weeks and I quit reading it twice before making myself finish it.

Black Friday
I thought it was extremely interesting.As I read it it really got me hooked.Towards the end it peeked my interest in that I really couldn't put it down until the last page was read.

Not so much
I am such.........SUCH.......a Patterson fan.I love the reads and I love the drama......but when there isn't a personal connection.....a bite to sink into that connects a story to another story........not so much.Single stories just don't seem to be the forte.The series books, yes.........the singles.......not so much.I read it out of respect for the author.......but I was not impressed.I need more nail biting........more anticipation.....more familiarity........this just didn't do it for me and I'm thankful that I didn't pick it for a "summer read".Sorry.........truly do love Patterson.

Probably the dumbest book I have ever read
I like a light read as much as the next person, but this book goes way beyond that. The storyline had potential to be good, but the writing was so awful, I could barely finish the book.The book felt way too rushed, especially at the end and left me with so many questions.There was absolutely no character development at all. I have never read a James Patterson book before and now I know I can stay away from any of his other books in the future.

SUNDAYS AT TIFFANYS
James Pattersons book Sunday at Tiffany's was a page turner. I love reading books about love and mystery, but that make me think a little. In the book I got a little taste of everything; love, humor, sadness, happines all mixed in one which was really interesting to read. In the beginning I couldn't put the book down. The way Jane had a special connection with her imaginary friend Micheal really felt like I was inside of it and the way everything was described was also phenomenal . But on her ninth birthday Micheal disappears and Jane is crushed inside. She doesn't have many friends so without Micheal she is usually by herself not interacting with kids her own age. Jane's mother is only around her once a week because of her huge job and busy schedule she has as head of a theatre company. When an imaginary friend leaves you, your supposed to forget about them forever, but for some strange reason Jane doesn't and she can't get him off her mind. Those years are tough for her, but 23 years later he runs into her. They re-connect and never stop talking. Each day a new subject rises and are not able to keep their mouths shut. They actually start to fall in love, but will he disappear again like he did the last time? Is she really ready to settle down with him? Each chapter a new problem comes abroad which makes you keep wanting to reading even more. It's a quick read, but one defenitly recommended. Jame Patterson is able to make the childhood friend feel realistic in numerous ways, it warms your heart, and is a great read for kids in middle school and above.

Good premise, poorly executed
I had high hopes for this book. The first third is actually quite good, probably the section the publisher read, but from there, it starts to really disappoint. I actually wanted to like this book so I was especially frustrated when it started to tank.

It's a very short, spendy little book with undeveloped characters and more flaws that I care to dictate. The invisible childhood friend turns out to be a complete flop, and the relationship between the girl and her mother has no substance. They spend their lives unable to get along and then, voila, everything is fixed. Not very realistic.

I think this book would have worked better for young adult audiences, especially since it's written at about a fifth grade reading level. But then, there's that stupid sex scene, so I can't even recommend it to a kid.

Easy read
On one of my short backpacking trips, I had to pack light, physically.So I went to the library and saw this book.It did not feel heavy and looked like a light read, which is what I wanted after hiking 10 miles a day.This book kept me entertained throughout the trip.It was complete fluff and the character developments are rather poor (like who exactly is Michael...?).
But I am giving it 4 stars because this book fulfilled my requirements for my trip.
I did read one reviewer say that "The Time Traveler's Wife" was much better.Somewhat different premise, but I did get the same sense as I was reading it.And yes, I agree that "The Time Traveler's Wife" is a better written book.

This was a charmingly romantic love story about a girl whose dream comes true.The imaginary friend who left when she turned 9 was supposed to have been erased from her mind as well as from his mind.When this doesn't happen, magic instead happens!I read this in one afternoon and thought it one of the most romantic love stories I have read in a long time.

Good Book to Take to the Beach
Jack Mullen is a lawyer in training. He is devastated by the death of his brother, reportedly a suicide, but apparently a murder. But the more Jack and his friends look into it, the more people around him end up dead. It comes out eventually that even those appointed to protect and serve are not always very good about protecting and serving, and this leads to a pulse pounding climax and a rather unbelievable ending televised from the tip of the Hamptons on Community Access Cable television. If you're looking for a page turning story filled with murder, mystery and mayhem, this is a good book.

What a waste--don't bother
This was one of the worst books I have ever read.It was the most corny and predictable plot I have encountered since middle school.I had never read Patterson before, but having heard such great things and seeing that he is always on the best sellers list, I decided to give this a try.What a complete waste of time.I thought it stunk a few chapters in. but continued because I thought it would get better.It never did, and in fact, it got worse and more unrealistic as the plot went on.The latter parts of the book are cheesier than a soap opera.I don't want to give anything away in case someone out there is crazy enough to want to waste their life away, but the ending is absolutely ridiculous.Please don't buy this book.Do something productive with your life and read something that you won't have figured out in the first 10 pages.

God awful, but you can't not finish it, unfortunately
The basic storyline is good and the characters are interesting, but this book very quickly diverges into the realm of "Oh come on!" and doesn't look back, but rather drags you down deeper into the quagmire of "I can't believe I'm still reading this."Its one of those books that you have to finish, but unlike a great book, you are quite happy when this one is over.

Solid thriller, good read
Like most Patterson books, "The Beach House" is a solid thriller that provides an entertaining read.What more can a person ask for?

Jack and Peter Mullen grew up in the Hamptons with their parents and grandfather.Now Jack has finished his 2nd year of law school and is spending the summer working for a prestigious law firm in New York, while Peter (who dropped out of high school at 15) does what he normally does - which is pander to the rich and famous, doing odd jobs to help out at parties, etc.However, everything starts to go wrong for Jack when he gets a call that Peter's body has been found washed up on shore.Although it is frighteningly obvious to anyone with eyes that Peter was beaten to death, money equals power in the Hamptons and the official cause of death, despite autopsy results to the contrary, is ruled drowning, and all the bruises and broken bones are written off as being caused by damage in the water.Jack vows to get justice for his brother.

I can't tell much more than that - this much was more or less outlined in the information provided with the book, but if I tell you more, I'll spoil it for you.Suffice it to say that Jack and his grandfather - Macklin Mullen, known as Mack - do everything in their power to try to get justice for Peter.They learn some very disturbing things along the way, and discover that not everyone they thought were their friends really were so.

If you're looking for a solid thriller to while away a plane trip, or something to read on the beach or something like that, this is the perfect book.It is a good read and highly entertaining.Then again, I'm sort of twisted.Give it a try!

Great Buy of a Great Book

Excellent Children's Book
I am in the process of collecting every book written by James Patterson, and was very surprised when this children's book came along. Very cute story and excellent illustrations.

Ho-ho-wholly uninspired
I took this book out of the library, and found it painful to read.My son was fairly interested, I admit, but the concept is not so much the problem-it's the prose.The sarcasm in the attempt to make fun of Santa's "job" has the opposite effect it intends; the only sentences that seem to land are the ones questioning the plausibility of Santa's work.The main character as many have written here, is thin, and sappy; it seems like a book that was sketched out to be the basis of a third rate kid's movie, with the undeveloped stock characters and cardboard dialogue you'd expect in that genre.The attempts at adult humor which drive the plot are forced and unoriginal. Santa Kid could have been much more, but it wasn't.And I agree with the reviewer who thought the poster "gift" in the back of the book is quite lame.

The James Patterson Missing Book
I purchased this book for my mother who is a die hard Patterson reader. She had searched locally for this book which was the only one lacking in her collection. Much to my delight (and hers) I found it on Amazon and it was the "perfect" christmas gift she wasn't expecting. It is a cute story that we began reading to the family every holiday now along with the traditional stories.

Bad read
Bad writing, everything about it is cliche especially dialogue, unrealistic, bad and inconsistent characterization, characters actions, likes, dislikes, and dialogue are not consistent, seems like it was a rushed to finish book, after the main character and the children literally dodged bullets in a sappy romantic scene she asks if she is over reacting about being worried about them being safe as she shrugs off the kids flying around the area which is supposed to be a central dangerous location. Obviously she forgot what had happened literally a day before. I loved some of patterson's other books, this one is terrible, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, I am sure he is not proud of this one. I seriously hated all of the characters. I heard it on audiobook by the way, so maybe hearing it aloud made all of the bad writing mistakes more visible, but either way if you are expecting it to be beach road good, you will be SERIOUSLY disappointed. I wish I would have read this review before wasting my time.

Ridiculous
This book is the sequel to Patterson's novel When the Wind Blows. It's about a genetically related family of test tube kids who are half human, half bird. This book is their fight to be taken into custody by the kindly veterinarian Frances O'Neill and her FBI agent boyfriend. It is also about their struggle to live in a world where some people hate them because they are different.

The book is so ridiculous and farfetched that I finally put the book down.

Not worth it
I've probably read about 15 of Patterson's books.

This is the FIRST one that I couldn't even get to Chapter 3.

I didn't realize when I picked this up at the library, fortunately I didn't buy it, that it was a sequel to "When the Wind Blows".

Now I know NOT to pick up "When the Wind Blows".

The Worst Book, Ever
I Can't believe that this book was for sale anywhere.I got it at a book sale for fifty cents and feel that I paid way too .much for it, about 49 cents too much.

Theplot was stupid, the characters were stupid, and the only reason I finished it was because I was hoping that it would get better.There was no flow in the dialogue, the scenes kept switching without a reason, and the end was gratefully received.That was the first James Patterson book, and probably my last.

The one star was only because I had to put at least one in, but really it was a minus.

The Lake House

Surprise!You just wasted your time!
The other negative reviews basically said it all. I can take absurd surprise endings IF there is SOME attempt made to explain or justify it.None with this ending.It just dumps you there.And I wasn't about to spend any more time on it going back to reread sections and see if I had missed something along the way, especially with the initial disclaimer that some narrators might 'lie'.This was the first Patterson book I've read, and it'll be the last.

don't bother
I have to admit that I didn't finish this book. I needed a couple of books for a long car ride and picked this.Having read Patterson before it seemed like a good choice.If I had read the Amazon reviews prior to purchase, it would have been a more enjoyable trip. Don't waste your money or time.

Simply awful....
I purchased this book a while ago and for some reason, never read it.My Kindle seems to be on the fritz, so I've been scrounging around for some reading material.I picked this up and wondered why I never pursued it when I bought it.I guess I read the jacket and wasn't impressed or just had too many other books I wanted to read first.

At any rate, it was simply awful.The "twist" was so bad - and the whole concept of the novel just SO poor, SO unremarkably predictable - it was hard to get through.I was bound and determined to read it though, and I did. I hated the short chapters, the writing style and the whole name-dropping, "star studded", pretentious dialogue.

Do yourself a favor and take a pass on this - I'm sending my copy off to the Goodwill. No more of these for me.There are FAR, FAR better writers out there and publishers just keep churning out this drivel and taking away from a writer who DESERVES to have works published!

Beach Road
I have never reviewed a book before but I just had to send a review on this book (Beach Road).I have read several of James Patterson's books and have always enjoyed them until now.I was so disappointed by the ending that I almost threw the book in the trash.When the killer and his accomplice was revealed, I didn't want to finish the book, but I did and it left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

Save your money/time
I am sorry to report this is the last Patterson I will buy. This book tries an unusual technique of telling the story in a series of first person chapters. I find it annoying and disruptive to the narrative. I felt grossly manipulated at the wrap up at the end.

Didn't like the audio book...
however I'm not sure if it was the reader or the actual story. But I was really bored with this story...definitely wouldn't recommend.

False advertising
This book seems like a courtroom thriller/action book. It does have a bit of both, but not enough to qualify really being within either genre. It's no great book, and makes for a nice, light read (definitely better than Maximum Ride)

I understand that everyone has their own writing style, but I found Mr. Patterson's own to be rather irritating. He often forgoes a lot of detail and some of his scenes simply feel thrown together. if Mr. Patterson would work on fleshing out scenes and thinking more about his characters and their actions, he'd be a better author. Quality over quantity, after all.

Loved this book-Judge & Jury
I heard about this book from a gal walking the treadmill next to me in my gym.She raved and said she could not put the book down.
So I ordered it and found the same feeling.Could not wait to see what was going to happen next. In the beginning of the book the main character is chasing the villan. The man is caught and now there is so much that happens with a Juror at the trial.
I do not want to give away anything.It really, really is a page turner.
I have now sent the book on to a friend in another state and she called to say that she could not wait to see
what will happen in each chapter.Great fun read.

Neither an interesting courtroom drama nor an action packet mystery thriller

With Patterson it's either hit or miss. This one is a miss.
The story revolves around an FBI agent, a juror, a mafia don on trial and a whole lot of bad writing. I tried to get into the story, but it was neither an interesting courtroom drama (like Grisham's) nor an action packet mystery thriller like some of Harlan Coben's stories.
While the FBI agent is desperately trying to see a convicted don, he indirectly becomes the reason for the death of juror number 9's young son. Time moves forward and as expected, the FBI agent falls in love with the juror, the mobster escapes bail and we are left with a grueling read (chapter 40 through 110) to find out where he's hiding and how the agent and the mother will get their vengeance.

Do yourself a favor and skip this one. Instead, read some of Grisham's books...ANY of Ghrisham's books. ... Read more

Grandson loves this book
My grandson recently started reading the teen series and really enjoys them.I was delighted that this book arrived in time to be part of his birthday present.

Max, A Maximum Ride Novel - Cool stuff

I picked up MAX - A Maximum Ride Novelin an airport for two reasons. 1) Seemed like a cool concept - human children grafted with avian DNA fighting against various villains, and 2) I wanted to see how James Patterson wrote for Young Adult.

I wasn't blown away but it was better than what I'd been expecting. The flavor I felt was definitely James Patterson and I've read a few of his adult novels (you will probably know him from the Alex Cross books, Kiss the Girls, and Along Came a Spider, or The Lakehouse). His chapter format is definitely similar to his adult novels, and while the language was very teen-oriented, I still felt the James Patterson vibe throughout.

The book itself was a light, quick read with a lot of sarcastic, witty teenage humor written from the perspective of the female leader of the flock, Max. I'm not sure whether this was the first installment of the series but it read pretty well on its own as a standalone. I don't think I would go out and buy the series, it just didn't grip me that much, but it fulfilled its purposes both on the plane and my curiosity about James Patterson writing for YA.

So briefly, Max and her flock, a hodge-podge group of 5 kids ranging from 6 to 17 (oh, and one more flying dog, Total, making the flock count 6), were genetically created from merging human DNA with avian DNA. Apart from various other skills like super sight and super strength, they have wings, as in real bird wings with a 14 -foot wingspan. In this book, they team up with the US Navy against the mysterious Mr. Chu who has captured Max's mother. Add in some romance between Max and Fang, the love of her life and one of the flock, and you've got the requisite teenage angst for any YA novel. During the search for Max's mom, 3 of the flock learns to swim under water - they develop gills, and they meet some sea-creatures who have been mutated from radiation who help them rescue her. Angel, one of the flock, can read minds and speak to fish.

I know, I know. It all sounds a little far-fetched, right? The neat thing about it though was I didn't feel while reading the novel that it was far-fetched at all. It just felt like part of the story, like a natural progression of the flock's talents. And I guess that is all due to the author's ability to spin his story in such a way that it's entirely believable while you're reading it.

Kudos Mr. Patterson. Not that the man needs it - he is a genius. There was a recent article in the NY Times Magazine about him a few weeks ago, "Patterson may lack the name recognition of a Stephen King or a John Grisham or a Dan Brown, but he outsells them all. Really, it's not even close." He is a novel-writing machine as well as a business and marketing genius in every single genre. As far as young adult titles, add Witch and Wizard to the bookshelf as well as graphic novels like Daniel X. I haven't read either of these series but that's not to say I won't. Check out the NY Times Magazine article if you can, it's pretty awesome (and inspiring for all you would-be writers).

Overall, I'd say not bad for MAX - A Maximum Ride Novel. Fun, light read. Love the language and the witty dialogue between the characters as well as Max's humorous internal monologues. I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars.

One of the best series I ever read
My 11 year old nephew doesn't like to read, so I got him the Maximun Ride series of books on tape. I read the series myself and enjoyed them.Now he and his mother listen to the books when they are in the car running errands. They love the stories and talk about the characters. It is their special time.You should check out this series where in paper or audio form.

Max Book 5
Max, book 5 in the series started off rather slowly by repeating many of the known facts from the previous books; however, midways through the momentum picked up and it got more action packed like the previous novels. Can't wait to read book 6: Fang.

Didn't live up to the rest of the series
I teach Middle School Reading, so I'm always looking for great books for 6th-8th graders. The first 4 books in the Maximum Ride series are fast paced and fun. Maximum Ride Rocks
The Maximum Ride series is AWESOME. They are so funny, and full of action. They are almost never boring. For people who say it's totally unrealistic, I encourage you to keep reading the series. James Patterson talks about real world problems like global warmimg and pollution. Sure, flying bird kids may not be real but it's fun to imagine and I think Patterson makes it sound real. I think thesebooks are amazing ad everyone should read them!!

The Angel Experiment
The Angel Experiment is a quick, light read. It's decently entertaining, and targeted, I'm sure, towards a youngermore reluctant reader. Although I may have been just a little disappointed that my personal view didn't match up with the high ratings from others, I think the series shows promise for the subsequent installments.

The writing was very basic, and not very interesting at all. I'm not sure James Patterson is the kind of author who can right from a 14 year old girl's point of view, especially seeing as he's a 63 year old man (not saying no male author can do this, just saying it didn't work out in this case.) At times, The Angel Experiment lacked substance, and more than once some of the characters came off as bad actors with clearly staged lines, rather than realistic people.

The plot, while adventurous, was predictable and repetitive. The idea is so creative and original, and I can't help but feel that the quality of the writing and the monotonous plot take away from that. The rescue only takes place in the first half of the book. After that it pretty much goes downhill. A big chunk of the book was dedicated to switching back and forth from running from the Erasers, and descriptions of the large quantities of food they ate, without any other plot progression. The ending was a bit abrupt, and the resolution of their goal in the book was very anticlimactic; it was just rushed right through.

Aside from the negatives, I did like the characters; they're probably the only reason I liked the book at all. They show a lot of promise for future books, and are the sole reason I will continue to read the series. I think they all complimented each other well, and I loved the way they interacted with one another. They each had their own distinctive personalities. Max was a motherly type who looked over the flock. She was a strong character, and always looked out for the underdog. I liked Fang a lot too, and I can sense some future romance between him and Max, which I'm really excited for.

While I, personally, may not have enjoyed The Angel Experiment as much as I had expected, I can say it would be a good book for reluctant readers. And I will continue to read the series, if only for the characters and the hope that the series gets better with each new installment.

I love this book so much!!!!!
This book is amazing!I don't like the cover as much but that is the least of my concerns.There was no marks on the book which I liked.overall this book was fabulous!

Great, but lacking something...
I really enjoyed this book. The plot was suspenseful, yet written in a young teen's humorous voice. This book was absolutely a page turner, forwards and backwards. What I mean by this is; the plot was full of that "I NEED TO READ MORE", but there were times where you had to flip back a couple pages, and re-read certain things to fully understand.
I did like the characters, but just a warning, there's quite a few, and they may be easy to mix up.
This book was written in the form where the main character is the narrator. But the fun thing about it, is that there were chapters where you were brought into the other characters mind. This helps explain the characters, which in some areas, this book lacked. Only near the end of the book do you find out the character's appearance, which can throw you for a loop.
This book has a lot going on, and for the majority of the book, you felt as if you too were experiencing the stressful days with Max, Fang, Angel, Nudge, Gazzy and Iggy. But certain areas near the end of the book seemed slightly rushed.
The idea of the story, which is young humans with animal DNA ( you have to figure out the rest ) is interesting, uncommon and fuels up a great read.
In conclusion, I would recommend this book to anyone who respects books with sci-fi, suspense, and flickers of romance and humor. This would be a good book for ages 10 and up. This isn't a personal favourite, but i might consider reading the rest of the series.

Best book ever!
This is my favorite series that I have ever read! I'm a 12 year old girl and my friends love it too. I read some reviews that people wrote saying that it shouldn't have been written like it is. I totally disagree. It is witty and sacastic in the best way. It is a teen and tween book so you adults should not be complaining. I read every book in just a few weeks it was so good! love maximum ride
while this book wasnt my favorite of the series it was still a good maximum ride book! Yes patterson does express his views on golbal warming but so what? j.k rowling demonstrates her views on witchcraft, but nobody finds that annoying. I dont even believe in global warming really and i still really enjoyed this latest installment of maximum ride. Max is still kick butt and theres even some romance between her in fang in this book. I overall really enjoy patterson, and will continue to read this series with enthusiasim

The Final Warning is a great book.I would recommend the book to anybody of any age who wants to read a thrilling action novel mixed with some comedy and drama between characters.

This book has multiple settings.The setting mentioned the most was Antartica, but towards the end, the characters went to Miami.The story is set in the future.

The main conflict in the story isman vs. man because the characters are always fighting someone or something.For example, in the beginning of the book, the mutant kids had to fight Ari.Then he was a friend.Then Ari ended up dying.There is also man vs. nature because the characters have to fight the freezing cold of Antartica.

The story is about seven mutant kids who are trying to save the world from global warming by warning the world about it and by telling how to stop it.They must do this while fighting government agents and super soldiers.The agents want to capture the kids to study how their mutant powers work.The mutant kids are only aided by their mutant dog and Artic scientists.

The book takes a twist when a government uber-director and his newest super soldier show up.The main character has to show how much of a hero she really is.I will stop here to keep the ending a surprise.

Way too Preachy
"The Final Warning" is a children's fantasy about children with wings, narrated by the 14-year old girl, "Maximum Ride" (which sounds a bit kinky to adults). The story is obviously slanted to young female readers.The premise is obviously appealing, but poorly developed in "The Final Warning"---albeit probably adequately developed in earlier installments in the series.

The story could also be described as "science fiction without the science"---the sort of cliched pseudo-science fiction of Hollywood screen writers who flunked their high school science courses.

Unfortuntely there is little plot or adventure.Instead, there is heavy-handed preaching about "Global Warning".I found the long stretchs of "blog" entries to be particularly tedious.Finally, what the heck is "The Final Warning".The title has nothing whatsoever to do with the story.

Disappointing
A bit of good Maximum Ride action, but mostly just a preachy book about global warming.No building up of relationships, character development, or even a defined enemy.It's not even scientifically accurate, yet tries to influence young readers who don't know enough to really research.If this had been the first of the series, I certainly would have stopped there.I know Mr. Patterson can do better than this!

Great read

Painful!
Hated it!Truly one of the most painful novels I have ever read, and I love James Patterson's work. Read other 1-star reviews - the Readers nailed it!

Interesting Subject
I have to admit I do not usually read James Patterson, but the back cover yelled at me to read the rest - the whole supernatural devil re-born thing, we all seem to be so interested in.
Anyhow, I degress. I enjoyed every word of this book, and I could not put the book down once I started - really!! Even while I was cooking I had it open next to me, sneaking in a word or two here and there. I don't really know what it was that drew me into the book so thoroughly, because I did not find it suspenseful, and neither the romance - it must have been the whole devil and evil demon thing.
I enjoyed his descriptions of Ireland - post EU.
I was so thoroughly shocked when it was the girl you would expect the least to have given birth to the demon child and I loved the end - it could so easily be the opening to a follow-up novel.

An ok read
This is not my favorite James Patterson book.Did not think it was one of his best efforts.

Neat premise, but terrible execution, plot, and ending!
The only writer who should get any acclaims on this book is the one who wrote the jacket copy! It made me interested enough to read it (well, listen to the audio version anyway). A little disappoined
I was disappointed in this one. I had a hard time with the characters and it took me longer than it should have to finish it. Not JP's best work, but I still love him.

The worst Patterson book I have ever read
Other than the stilted writing, the under-developed characters, and the fact that the book reads more like a screenplay then a novel, Patterson's attempt to sprinkle in German words to add flavor to the book backfires because of incorrect use.

For example, he calls a day trip a "Wanderjahr" which is a completely different concept. It's been years since I took German in college, but I still can read understand enough to know when words are not being used correctly

I LOVE James Patterson's books. This one is a keeper. I locked myself in the bathroom for an hour, because I just couldn't put the book down.

Dinner wasn't cooked, wash wasn't done, and the dogs were begging to go out.As with everything I have ordered from Amazon, I am pleased with the price, the timely shipping, and the quality of products.

Not bad for his 3rd book
"See How They Run" aka "The Jericho Commandment" is not bad for James Patterson's 3rd book. I found it an easier read that his first two: "Season of the Machete" and "The Thomas Berryman Number".

I was able to see his well-known style of writing suspense developing from his first two projects and that kept me interested in spite of the number of characters and foreign words.I found I was "on the edge of my seat" at some points of this book, however I was slightly disappointed with the ending.

I agree with some of the other reviews posted here, but please keep in mind this is one of JP's earlier works. I will continue to read and enjoy all of his works, and I hope you do the same!

Would Be Hard to Recommend This Book
I have read many of JP's books and find this is not one of his fast-paced, keep you on the edge of your seat, waiting to turn the next page books. It has several implausible, seeming contrived ideas (microwaving entire dormitories!). The main character has suffered the loss of all his immediate family and a wife he cherishes by terrorists, but quickly takes up with an old girlfriend who is also (unbeknownst to him) one of the bad-guys. Seemed very contrived and a bit stereotypical, i.e. all the Jewish Holocaust survivors in the book had become wealthy and internationally known personages. Not here too. *GROAN*
I enjoyed reading the first two books...then I got about half way through the third book. "Saving the world" means lectures about global warming in the third and fourth books. Just writing fiction is no longer good enough for James Patterson. He now has to indoctrinate children too. Not to mention the rant against the United States. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but when you start trying to get children to feel like if they want to continue to identify with the characters they should start hating their country for causing a problem that is not the fault of the country and has also been proven to be over stated, I draw the line. I will not pick up another James Patterson book.

Great Book, Great Service
The book arrived in perfect condition.I've been reading it a little at a time, for time's sake; I love Moynahan, and relish his words.

Rambling and Incomplete -
Ronald Reagan was fond of saying that "The best minds are not in government. If any were, business would hire them away." An effective quip; it was, alas, demonstrably untrue - well demonstrated by Daniel Patrick Moynihan. (Another myth, that government can't do anything well is disproved by the Allied victory in WWII, the Marshal Plan, NASA's reaching the moon, and the interstate highway system.) Moynihan's "The Negro Family: The Case for National Action" was released in 1965 and showed "startling increases in welfare dependency, matriarchy, and illegitimacy rates among blacks." At the time, these rates were about 8X that of whites. Yet, the 23.6% of black babies born out of wedlock in 1963 jumped to 72% by 2007, at which time 40% of all U.S. births were illegitimate. Another negative trend was that of AFDC families missing a father, rising from one-third in 1935 to two-thirds in 1963. (However, the meaning of this trend is unclear - due to changes in law aimed at focusing on single mothers, or growing family breakup?)

Problems with Patterson's book about Moynihan's report include too much space devoted to Moynihan's early life, and not enough detail about what it contained. The title, "Freedom Is Not Enough" comes from LBJ's 1965 speech calling for equality of result, not just opportunity. Unfortunately, Moynihan's report also showed that by the early 1960s inner-city welfare rates and unemployment rates were moving in opposite directions ('Moynihan's scissors'). Had to laugh
I had to laugh when I read the review about this reading like a Hulk comic book. I couldn't agree more. It was a fun read, but it was a little "hulk, smash!"

Hallowed Be Thy Name
This was a fun read! Enjoyed it from the beginning and it kept me turning the page to see what happens next. Before I knew it, I was at the end and saying..oh wow, that was good!

A Modern Day Jekyll & Hyde Taken to an Extreme
This novel has a very interesting premise and hooked me at the beginning. The action and suspense was non-stop and kept me turning the pages in anticipation throughout the novel. The characters were interesting and well developed. I was somewhat disappointed with the nature of Trenton Hallowed's second "evolution" but the continued suspense and action made up for this.

Overall, a very good read. However, I must state that the tremendous number of typos created an unwarranted distraction throughout the book.

It reads like a Hulk comic book!
I enjoyed the beginning of this book as Trenton Hallowed starts mutating and becoming more powerful. Then, it devolved into a prose Hulk comic book ("Hulk destroy") and sort of left me a little cold.This from a guy who owns over 6000 comic books.

So, I was disappointed as I felt that a promising start really went off the rails. Still a lot of action and well written.But I had been hoping for better.

The Kindle edition had NO formatting issues.
