I am one of the fortunate few have read NORA ROBERTS from her very first book right through to this one....And I have to say she continues to deliver some of the best dialogue between characters that I've ever read.
Maybe it becomes a little too deep for some people who want a little more playtime and action. (I don't know) For me ...it works!
This book was all about a seriously strong woman who got that way because of a life threatening experience with a serial killer when she was younger and a lot less experienced. She loses her police officer fiance and his canine partner and helps stop a killer and put him in prison. Instead of allowing these things to cripple her she then heals and from those ashes gains a sensitivity into how to get people and animals to work well with one another.
I was intrigued by the tough aggressiveness of the characters and how Nora made a reluctant relationship work! The rescue training helped me relate better with two people who are in no way easy to predict and are what most strong/alpha types have to be. It allowed the author to show pieces of their character that could not be seen otherwise.
This was not a book about training search and rescue dogs ONLY. It is a story about a woman who has a gift for training dogs to be life savers and can also use that training to understand and deal with a very intense and hard to please man.
Its about a woman who is once again in danger of a killer and how she deals with that reality.
This book is able to impress upon women how strong they can be if only they try and not be victims in the face of everpresent danger.
I loved this book...felt happy about the end and can't wait to read another new NORA ROBERTS novel!!

Nora Roberts is losing me
I thought this book would be a fun read because I am raising a service dog.I don't know diddly about search and rescue, but I know a lot about training a dog.Kinda back-fired though because I found myself skipping the lengthy training episodes; while fairly accurate, it wasn't new to me.I thought the female character was well developed and the male was suitably hunky and I liked that he was grouchy and rude, but they were both kinda boring.Even the steamy parts left me short.One scene, set on a pedestal dining table, left me worrying that the table-top would never be stable again rather than focusing on the developing romance.I once commented that I like Nora Roberts because her characters lead real lives and feel like I could step in their shoes, unlike many jet-setting, rich, skinny and beautiful romance novel leads.Now I feel like Ms. Roberts has carried her "normal" characters a bit too far.I could have easily been Fiona but, and this is where the increasingly unexciting plot lines are making me less of a fan, why on earth would I want to be?With the notable exception that no one is trying to kill me (thank you Lord), my life is exceedingly routine and hardly worth writing about.Hmmm, kinda like Fiona.

Would have given this 5 stars but . . .
it had some problems.I really enjoyed the book and as I released my tight grasp on the book at midnight last night I felt a little let down by the ending.Given that so much attention had been given to the dogs and the search and rescue scenes throughout the book,I would have expected them to have been more involved in the take down.This book could have had a much better ending that way.I thought the dog training was interesting and made me want to buy a dog.Simon wasn't your usual perfect guy and the plot, serial killers and interaction among the characters were all interesting and believable. It would be interesting to read a sequel to this book to learn how the other friends and relatives fare and to see if Fiona and Simon are still together in a year from now.

Boring book
I like Nora Roberts, but this book is not worth reading..I had a very hard time making it through it. I kept reading in hopes it would get better no such luck. Unless you want to know how to train dogs , you may want to skip this one.

Wonderful Read
This was one of the best books I've read in months - I wanted to read it every moment, thought about it when I couldn't be reading, and have started it again because I was so sad to see it end.

I admit, I'm a sucker for dogs, so that lured me in to start with. But it was the characters and solid plot that kept me turning pages. I don't know how Ms. Roberts does it, but her characters typically feel so real to me - with plenty of flaws, lots of attitude and more heart than any folks should have. The hero of The Search, Simon, is so far from perfect it's humorous. He's irritable, grouchy, intolerant of fools. He seldom says anything just plain nice, and couches any flattery with plenty of insult. That makes him sound annoying, but he's not. He's just a normal guy who's used to being on his own, so when you throw in a new puppy and a sexy dog trainer who isn't his type, he's crankier than usual.

Fiona, owner of three search and rescue dogs, is a strong woman - almost TOO strong. She's the sole survivor of a serial killer, a man who also killed her fiancé and his K9 companion. Since that time, she's made every effort to take care of herself, which occasionally leads her to exclude those who love her from things that are important in her life. This causes trouble between her and Simon as things begin to grow between them, especially when copycat murders start showing up and Fiona is directly threatened.

Though this is a mystery/suspense novel, there are so many fun moments that it keeps it from being an adrenaline-pumping, can't-breathe-for-the-worry kind of book. The suspense tends to linger in the background for the most part, with the romance taking the forefront along with Fiona's search and rescues assignments. I loved watching Simon with his puppy, Jaws, as they found their way together with Fiona's help. I thoroughly enjoyed observing Simon and Fiona discover they like each other, much to the surprise of both of them. Neither wants a relationship, and they aren't each other's type in any way. Yet... the attraction is there, as well as the enjoyment in mutual time spent together.

I can't say enough good things about the dog aspect of this story either. Though non-dog lovers and owners will assuredly enjoy this book, those of us who do enjoy canine companionship will find this book even more enjoyable. I smiled, laughed, and even occasionally snorted at the troubles Jaws got into. He's such a classic puppy, a loveable trouble-maker, I couldn't help but be charmed (and also be glad my four-footed family members are all well past that stage).

The love story is delightful as well, full of as many problems as sweet moments and with such a perfect ending that my heart couldn't help but sigh. Add in a memorable and delightful cast of secondary characters, and what you have is a favorite of Nora Roberts' books to date. This will be a novel that I read until it falls apart at which point I'll buy another copy and start all over again. I'd be surprised if you didn't feel the same.

Heroine annoyed me
I loved this book, except for Margo. I think the other characters were great and couldn't wait to get to their books in the trilogy. If you are on the fence about reading the other two books in the trilogy after reading this one, don't be, they are worth it.

A thought provoking start to a new trilogy
I am a big fan of Nora Roberts, especially her trilogies - there's something utterly delicious about knowing that when you finish one book, there's another one ready for you. I was a little unsure of how I would enjoy this book. Like many of the reviewers, I wondered if I would ever warm to Margo. She probably encapsulates everything most women dislike about gorgeous model types, however as I stayed with the story, I found that Margo did get into my heart. Yes, she's brash, cocky and totally beautiful but when you get past her facade, to me she is a woman that I would be proud to call a friend.
I loved her spats with Josh and her vulnerability at times got to to me. Her desire to be someone, to be a success because she thinks it's the only way the people around her will really think anything of her reminds me of a lot of people and I enjoyed the ride I took with Margo. She made me laugh out loud at times and I loved her for this. (I don't normally laugh out loud when I'm reading!)
A book that you will enjoy and be sorry to put down.

domestic violence is so sexy
I'm not familiar with the Romance genre.I thought I'd try something new, recognized Roberts' name from the bestseller lists, and bought this thing. Mistake. I only got to page 256, so read my review with that in mind.

This book features: poor writing (unsignalled point of view shifts happen multiple times), shallow and unlikeable characters with little or no actual emotional attachment to one another, and a control freak hero who constantly demeans and belittles the heroine.During arguments he also grabs her, slings her around like a caveman, topples her into a full bathtub and holds her head under the water.

But its not violence because he looooves her?It's okay because it just shows how passionate and out of control he is over her?Or maybe its okay because he's being playful.As long as he doesn't *intend* to hurt her that makes it all right, right?Seriously, I cannot imagine in what world anyone would find this behavior romantic.It certainly isn't legal.

Anyway, I threw the book in the trash.

Enjoyable
Very easy read. I have never read nora roberts but this book will keep me coming back for more. It is very seductive and has alot of very sensual scenes in the book. I really enjoyed it.

UGH!---

Great read!!!

Beautiful compliment to the other two!
I enjoy Nora's ability to create characters that are a family..even when they are not technically related.. She has a way of making stories, and lifelong friendships blend as one..

Also with each couple they have there own way of handling things..I never feel like the same scenario is being repeated over and over again..It always feels like a natural progression of that couples relationship..

Nora in my opinion is one of the best women writers in this genre..I will read anything she puts out and I am always thrilled with the result and the amazing characters she introduces me too..Savor the Moment (The Bride Quartet, Book 3)

Lovely
The third book in the bride quartet and it is as good a story as the first and the second.I just wish I could see the lovely cakes that Laurel makes in this book.This is also a wonderful romance between the two characters of Laurel and Del.I am still waiting for the fourth book in this series to come out.I know it will be as great as the firtst three books.

Vision in White
I read Nora Roberts and J.D. Robb books all the time and I will have to say that Vision in White is a great book, it has to do with friendship, love, and family, mixed with a little business and marriage. I think that you would enjoy reading this book. And of course don't forget the second book Bed of Roses.

I cried at the end
Ok, it's obvious we all have different opinions and some may love this or this type of book and others will hate it.The Bride Quartet are the first books of Nora Roberts that I have read.Predictable?Yes, Romantic? Yes. Sappy?Possibly.Hey, I wanted "light, fun, romantic, girl gets the guy" book and that was delivered.So far out of the 3 books I've read in this series, I liked this one the best and yes, I really did cry at the end.(I'm the type of woman that will cry at the end of 50 First Dates every time I see it too!)I think I cried because of the guy character in this one.You get in his head more and actually see what he's feeling - not like that happens in real life! Very good book.Worth the time and money.

Beautiful story
I truly enjoy Nora Roberts style of writing.This is just one of the books in a quartet about four childhood friends that went into the wedding business together.As always it is well written and tells a love story of one of the friends (in this case it's Emmaline who handles all of the florals for Vows which is the name of their business).I have read three of this series and am waiting for the fourth to be delivered.I can hardly wait to read the last one.

Let's be truthful: it's long and it's boring..
Common, people let's be truthful. Unless you're a florist this book is a terrible drag. Every minuscule detail of (here I have to pause to search for the heroins' name because, really I already forgot it) Emma's work is discussed until you can't stand it anymore, than she whines, debates with her boring friends on having a cookie, exercises and has sex. Although this doesn't sound like a bad life (you go Emma!) reading about it is a real bore. This is my first Nora Roberts and I am amazed at the lack of.. anything in this book (the writing was good, don't misunderstand me! Very professional, well edited and it left me cold). No true romance, no interesting conversations.. Just two uninteresting people with nothing to say to each other. And the worst: just past the middle of the story I started to dislike flowers.. (Flower overdose!) You tell me, should I buy another book by Nora Roberts? I want to say no, but this might be a fluke. The whole world seems to like her books..?! Am I missing something? ... Great book!
I totally enjoyed this book.It was hard to put down in between reading times.

Very little romance
I would have liked to see more of Michael and Emma together. For the majority of the book Emma was with Drew (absolutely no romance there) or she was nowhere near Michael. I did get that is was suppose to be endearing that Michael's feelings for her never waned over the years, but the distance did not make for a great romance. By the time that they finally spent quality time together and were in a quasi relationship the book was almost over. Dissapointing, because Michael was one of Nora's few male leads that wasn't so standoffish with the female yet he did not get to be near her.

The book was not lacking in suspense however. It did have excessive drug use, but I guess that what comes with the rock star story.

This is a really great book
I have been a Nora Roberts fan for a long time and I really loved this book. The reader feels like they are part of the McAvoy family and know all of their inner secrets.Emma is a fabulous character and the book was very hard to put down.

A real page turner
I've read a number of Nora Robert's books and this was my favorite. The characters were well-developed and believable, especially Emma McAvoy and her rock-star father. Nora portrayed her characters in "Public Secrets" very realistically. She was not afraid to show their weaknesses. The murder of Emma's beloved baby brother was a tear-jerker and made me cry. I did figure outthe identity of one of her brother's murderers halfway through but it wasn't obvious like in some of Nora Robert's other books. The second murderer was a shock. I love how NR adds a touch of mystery and suspense to all her stories--some better than others. The romance in this book was exciting and sexy, not raunchy like in other romance books. Dreamy
This is the first series of Nora Roberts books I have had pleasure to read. I have read the full series and waiting for the last to release next week...and cant wait. The story lines are predictable and you can see after book one how each character's lives will play out however you just enjoy reading how it happens, the details and enjoy the rush of falling along with them. The series leaves you saying "Gah, I WANT that too".

Imaginatively Romantic
Words can not describe the way Nora Roberts futs fantasies to paper. Everone dreams of their ideal mate, running into him/her in a romatic, yet aloof way, and then finding out that they are "the one." That is exactly what Roberts does in the Bride Quartet. She mixes fantasy with the ideal reality that we would all like to have. These books let the imagination run wild and that, my friends, is the key to a great book. You will imagine every romantic moment along with every frustrating one. This is a non-stop read; one for not only the romantic, but also the imaginative. Wondeful Love Story
Vision In White is the first in the Bride Quartet series from Nora Roberts, and it does not disapoint.I truly love the writng style of this author.This story is about one of four childhood friends that become business partners in the wedding industry when they grow up.Mackensie is the wedding photographer of the group and is the first of the girls to find the love of her life and become engaged.The story is endearing and a great read.

Just a short story
I was very surprised when I received this and found it not to be a novel but more of a short story

Good story, but short
Calin is a famous photographer, known for having an overly active imagination. Little does he know that what he sees in his dreams isn't just fantasies; his long lost love from another life, Bryna, is calling for him. He tries to be normal and shut her out, but eventually, destiny has its way and he finds himself travelling to Ireland on a vacation trip. Once there, he is stuck in the middle of an old powerstruggle between good and evil, and whether he likes it or not, his life has just changed forever.

I like the story, and I like the way the story is told. When reading, I can almost hear Bryna's Irish accent, smell the countryside, see her hair, and feel the cold morning mists. I also liked the tempo; stories like this when things keep happening capture my attention and my imagination, and I keep on reading. There's an appealing balance between romance and action.

On the downside, I didn't realize how short the book was. I expected a full length novel, but it's not. It feels like there might have been more to say on the matter, and I felt a little cheated when I turned the last page and realized that yes, this was it, the book was really over.

I did not know it at the time (& Amazon nor seller told me) but this is a little bitty book. I am talking maybe 60 pages if that.I read (I say read anyway) this several years ago in a compilation book with 3 other authors.It's not 1 of Nora Robert's best. In fact it may be her worst in my opinion.My advice?Order another Nora Roberts book unless you just want to make your Roberts library complete!

Just what I would expect
A must read - but read the other 2 first. This Trilogy is great one and Nora Roberts knows how to keep your interest

The best one out of the three in this series!
You can usually predict that the third one is the best but this one was especially wonderful because there are a lot of single moms out there that the dads just don't do what you expected of them as fathers...I'm one of them.Although like in my story this story has a knight in shining armor to take charge with Laura and her darling daughters!!!Perfect ending to this series!

Trilogy of Dreams....
I can't seem to find the right words to express my love for the "Dream" trilogy, so I'll just say if you don't read it you're doing yourself a great injustice. I never thought I would find another series like Nora's "Born In" trilogy, but I did, and I have to say that I enjoyed this one more. I'm once again so very sad that I will never be able to read these books again for the very first time. Keep dreaming!!!

Loved it!
I absolutely loved all three books of the Dream Trilogy! All in all, I was sorry when the last book came to an end. I felt like Margo, Kate, and Laura were my friends and I hated to leave them. I would have liked to have read a fourth book incorporating Laura and Michael's marriage and the arrival of their children; Tommy and Susie's story; and more of Annie's story.

When an author writes a story that makes you want more, you can say that he/she is a great success. Needless to say, Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors.

Love Nora Roberts books
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.It arrived promptly and was in excellent condition.

An earlier work, not Roberts' best; unsatisfying suspense and romance
More like 1 1/2 stars.This is one of Roberts' earlier works, and I must admit I just wasn't impressed with it.I just didn't feel a connection with the characters as I usually do in Roberts' books, and the romance didn't really ring true to me.I did find the philosophical question of rehabilitation versus restitution interesting to explore through a psychiatrist versus cop viewpoint, and the story with Joey was compelling and interesting.However, I just did not feel any chemistry between Tess and Ben, and the suspense wasn't really that suspenseful, even when Tess confronts the killer.Lastly, whether this is fair or not, I've been reading a lot of Roberts' earlier works and her tendency to have one or the other of the main characters' smoke has been distracting and annoying me.Hardcore Roberts' fans may enjoy borrowing it, but otherwise Roberts' and other authors have far better fare out there and it is definitely not worth buying.I recommend Roberts' Blue Smoke or the O'Hurley series (Born O'Hurley (The Last Honest Woman / Dance to the Piper)) and O'Hurley's Return: Skin DeepWithout A Trace (The O'hurleys)) for the best of Nora Roberts.

Could Not Get Into It
I did not make it very far into this novel without giving up. I could not get into the psycho killer priest character, and he seemed to be driving the plot. Also the repeated murders of solitary women walking around the city at night did not make me want to keep reading.

Sacred Sins
This novel may not be the quality of Roberts' newer work, but it delivers a satisfying romance and a surprise ending. It took me a few chapters to really feel riveted by the story, but I liked some of the characters right away.

This is one a die-hard Nora fan would want on her shelf.

A little simple
This Nora is a little simple. Once you have read some of her novels/trilogies where she has so much detail, these stories seem like Harlequin Romances.

Not one of Robert's best
I usually love Nora Robert's books.However, I feel that this is not one of her best efforts.The stories were on the short side, with not enought character development to feel the usual connection...as a romance, great!...as a Nora Robert's romance, so-so.

Enchanting Romantic Fantasy
This book contains three really enchanting romantic tales from Ireland.Each delves into a fun paranormal world, but in the traditon of Fantasy, the characters are believable yet extraordinary.

Nora Roberts paints a beautiful portrait of Ireland with her vivid description of the scenery, cottages, and castles.

The only thing I didn't like was the phrase that appeared more than 4 times, "he (or she) angled his head". Don't know why, but that phrase bugged me.

I would recommend this book for anyone looking for a fun Romance/Fantasy.I enjoyed it.

Very good.
It was a very good book.Wasn't something I expected with Addy being the thief.But had a great ending.

Loved the Story, just getting past the mistakes...
As usual Nora Roberts is wonderful weaving her tale of crossing lives and intrigue.I have never been disappointed in one of her books.However, this Kindle edition had so many typos it was tough to not be distracted... I am sad that this was a problem.I've seen this in other Kindle books, but this one was the worst I've seen.I'm not sure what the technology is that brings a Kindle book to be, but please get someone to edit...
Nora Roberts will always be my favorite and this book is no exception...just please proof them sometimes...

another great read by roberts
this was a fantastic book! my only disappointment was that it did not go into more detail for the ending. loved the characters and roberts does a great job of describing scenes to make you feel like you are there. you will not be disappointed with sweet revenge.

I have never been disappointed by a Nora Roberts book before.
I bought this with high hopes as I love Nora Roberts.

As soon as I hit the Middle East part of "Jaquir" my heart plummeted. Every cliché was dragged into this, and every misreading of a wonderful part of the world. While it is obvious that she has researched Saudi Arabia I was so disappointed that it was just another "Choose a baddie from the Middle East" option - and even included a 'good hearted but poor mother of the hero" with a cockney accent.

I just could not get past the clichés.

I think it is best to stay with what you know, and not make up theoretical ideas about a culture important to the book, but so synthetic that it raised every hackle.

DELIGHTFUL TO READ A NORA ROBERTS' THAT NOT FULL OF REPETITION AND SAME-OLD, SAME-OLD.STORY WAS WORTH READING AND REREADING SOMETIME IN THE FUTURE. CAN'T SAY THAT ABOUT MANY BOOKS. SHE PAINTED AN ENJOYABLE PICTURE OF THE RACING WORLD AND FAMILY TIES. THE VILLIAN IS OBVIOUS, BUT DOESN'T TAKE AWAY FROM THE STORY AND THE CHARACTERS ARE WELL-DEVELOPED AND VERY LIKABLE.

Could not stop reading it...
When you read too much from one author somewhere in the journey you'll start to identify a pattern in the stories and if you're a "fault finder" you can be tempted to look for something different ... So there I was at the store looking for a new book to read... tried to look for a different author when the cover of True Betrays caught my eyes and I ended up buying it... anyway I loved. This book is different from the other ones I read from N.R. it was a very nice surprise... the romance was there, but also lot's of family stuff that you can identify with, day by day situations, mystery and everything else you want to see in a good book!
Highly recommend it!

Truly Good Reading

Though I enjoyed Nora Roberts' novels, I took a sabbatical from them as too often one novel had too many similarities with the next.Needing escapism reading, I picked up some of her books again.I have found the same issue with some of the trilogies, but True Betrayals stands on its own.Characters are well developed.When trouble occurs in two of the horse farms, the culprit or culprits are not obvious and do not become apparent until revealed later in the book.There is a well developed connection between characters.I think it is one of her better novels and highly recommend it to anyone - especially Roberts fans. ... Disappointing
I have somewhat skipped through the last chapters of the book as the mystery part grew boring.
The reader knows early on who the killer is and his reasons and motivation seem ludicrous and uninteresting. There is hardly enough tension to bulid up the suspense or the romance.
I wish I had bought some other book for the week-end.

A Good Read
I purchased this book because I'd hiked in the Black Hills and loved the area, and am also a fan of this genre. The weak points in this book are 1) the slow start and 2) the lack of description of the spectacular setting. The strong point is - and there's only one,but it's significant - the second half! It's definitely worth a read, and once readers get past the defining entrada, it's a great story. Well worth the price of a paperback.

Childhood Sweethearts
Nora Roberts never fails to provide a wonderful story.She manages to catch your attention for the start and keep you holding on to the very end.Coop and Lil meet as children, fall in love as young adults then follow their own paths that years later do full circle back to each other. Coop and Lil have to face a lunatic to save Lil's life and find their way to the truth about each other.LOVED IT!

Black Hills by Nora Rorberts
Great audio book ! I actuallyread the book first then bought the audio version for my husband. I couldn't resist it and listened to it again myself.

Major Disappointment
I've been a huge fan of Nora for a long time, but the last few years her books don't read like Nora wrote them, same goes for her J D Robb books.

I used to sit and start one of her books and get mad if I had to put it down before I finished it. Now, Black Hills has taken me well over two weeks and I'm only at chapter 21. It's boring. The characters aren't interesting; the first ten chapters should have been dumped, it's all backstory referenced to when the real story finally appears. They were so hard to read. It's like having a person sit down and write what they can recall as far back as they can recall. It's a hit and miss memory lane. No one scene is complete, sometimes the scene jumps ahead and your head is swimming with confusion until you learn it's been years. And there are too many people with a point of view. I'm used to her mixing the point of views of the main characters and love it, but geese - what is there, at least six point of views. It causes the story to drag on and on.

I'm sorry, it's not a good read. I expect better of Nora. If she can't write like she used to, she needs to retire.

And the research, or lack of. Moose in the Black Hills? None. I don't recall ever hearing about wolves. Antelope are everywhere, yet there is no mention of them. The whole deal about her little animal reserve sounds like a spin off of Bear Country. We lived there from 1986-1994.

Hated the heroine, couldn't care about the hero
Of the three, this book really let me down the most. I just read Nora Roberts' MacKade brothers series, and I loved those characters, so I had a skewed sense of expectations when I started the Quinn brothers' saga. Of the three brothers, Phillip never really caught my interest. Cam and Ethan aside, I could never quite get my mind around the fact that Phillip a) looked like a god; b) had the brains of a genius; c) was an all-around handyman at the family boat-building business. I understand this is fiction, and this is romance fiction, where a hero who doesn't look manly when shirtless is no hero at all, but Phillip's flawlessness really irked me.

And then there Sybill. Heroine of the piece, and entirely detestable. She's supposedly a PhD, too, but she appears to have the brains of a flea. She comforts her own inaction by focusing on her own hurt, but she comes across as self-serving, self-righteous, meddling, and stupid. If she were truly concerned about Seth's welfare, the logical step would be for her to contact social services herself and reveal her relation, rather than going vigilante and attempting to gather evidence on her own. What she had planned to do after her surveillance is unknown, and therefore, her entire motivations seem shaky, at best. Her romance with Phillip seems contrived, especially following the revelation of her relationship to Seth. Phillip's character, too, suffers by his continued selfish pursuit of a physical relationship with her despite all the issues surrounding them and the Quinn family.

As with the other books, the talking-to-the-ghost bit seemed entirely out of place in this context. I'm not against a little but of supernatural happenstance, but in this series, the occurrences seemed contrived and heavy-handed, a mere author's ploy to prod the characters into action and/or reveal necessary bits of plot-centric information. In Phillip's book, the interference of the ghost was taken to a new level with physical interaction between the characters.

As with the previous books, it was Seth who made up for the failings of the other characters. I did enjoy seeing the development of his relationship with the brothers and their wives, although his easy acceptance of the only relative who could have saved him from the misery of his earlier years seemed a bit odd to me, and out of character for a boy too used to bitterness in his short life. The plot developments seemed predictable, because the Mighty Quinn's character could never have been proven to be flawed. Even the ending with the inevitable confrontation between Seth and his mother was a letdown, and turned the focus of the entire trilogy from the relationship of the Quinn brothers to the relationship between Seth and Sybill, and Sybill and Seth's mother. This was a major disappointment after following the Quinns for the entire trilogy, and Sybill only for one book.

I've heard Seth's story is better, so I'll keep my fingers crossed, but I'm not holding my breath.

A great book, but not as good as the first two.
I enjoyed this book a lot, but it isn't as good as the first two in my opinion.This book does tie it all together for you though in the end.

EXCELLENT READ
Once again, Nora Roberts has outdone herself. This trilogy is fantastic. I am SO very glad that she added the last book about Seth!!!!! A+++++++++! A must read!

As a stand-alone book, it was lacking, but it was good because it finished unresolved issues from the first two books.
THE SERIES:
The Chesapeake Bay series includes four books which tell a continuing story about a family.Ray and Stella Quinn adopt three troubled boys who came from abusive homes.In the first three books the boys are about 30 years old.They left home, have good jobs and are single.Stella died several years earlier.In the beginning of the first book Ray took in another boy, 10-year-old Seth, who was abused by his mother Gloria.Gloria offered to give legal guardianship to Ray in return for a large sum of money.Before anything was official, Ray died in a car accident.Shortly before he died, he asked his three sons to move back home to take care of Seth.All three men promised they would.They decide to start a boat building business.In the first three books each of the three men meets and falls in love with a woman.The fourth book tells the story of Seth, who is grown, returns home and falls in love.The best parts of the first three books are watching the developing relationships among Seth and the three men and seeing Seth blossom.Each book has a minor amount of fantasy due to some conversations with a ghost.The four books, main characters, and my ratings are:

STORY BRIEF (Inner Harbor, Book 3):
Phillip's mother was a stripper and prostitute.Phillip survived by stealing, using drugs and sometimes selling himself.At age 13, he was shot in gang crossfire and nearly died.Ray and Stella discovered him in the hospital and took him home.Due to their love and environment, he changed and thrived.He is now a successful advertising executive in Baltimore.He dresses well, drinks fine wines and eats healthy.During his three-day weekends, he handles administrative details, legal issues and paperwork for the brothers' boat building business, as well as some of the sweaty carpentry work.

Dr. Sybill Griffin has made a career out of the study of urban life and has published two books.She has degrees in anthropology, sociology and psychology.She comes to Chesapeake Bay to observe and study small town life for her next book.However, the reader soon learns that she chose Chesapeake Bay because of Seth.She purposely meets the brothers and finds that Phillip is attracted to her.She begins a relationship with him in order to be closer to and learn about Seth.Gloria (Seth's mother) returns to the area.Gloria has a bigger role in this book than in the previous two books.

REVIEWER'S OPINION:
This was ok, but I couldn't get into the characters.They were good as supporting characters in the Seth story and for the series, but the story about their relationship wasn't as good as I'd hoped.They each were wounded in the past in different ways.Now they are smooth and polished.I didn't see how they grew to love each other.They were sort of thrown together, and then they have sex because they are physically attracted to each other.The value of this book is learning about Gloria and seeing some of her actions.It finishes some of the unresolved issues from the first two books.So it's worthwhile in that way.

Good story with a surprise ending!!!
N. Roberts does it again--------Great story with an ending like Hitchcock was famous for-----I'm always a little disappointed when I've waded thru a fairly long interesting story to find that it ends a bit too quickly and leaves some open items------I've been accused of being a revenge freak, and I guess I am.But Nora remains one of my favorite authors!!

One of her best books!!!
I love most of NB books (especially the newer material romantic-suspense) and this one is by far the best.I picked it up at Walmart and by the title I thought I would not like it.I could not put this book down from the first page I read but it also was not a quick read because I didn't want to miss any parts!!!

A good summer read
Okay, so I love to listen to Nora Roberts audiobooks.I picked up Carnal Innocence a couple of weeks ago at the library and just got around to listening to it this weekend.I thought that it was one of those books when you want something light and you end up getting involved in a really good story that you weren't expecting.When I say this book has lots of twists, please believe me, not only that but as a Mississippi girl myself, some of the sayings used in the book had me laughing when I remembered people I know saying them.I think that this book is one of those great books that you would read on a lazy vacation day.Highly recommend it.

couldn't wait to get to the end
I love Nora Roberts. I "think" I have read and enjoyed everything she has written. Carnal Innocence was so long and boring. I mean realy, it took forever to get to the end. Great ending, but by the time you get there you're like "oh ya I get it".I hope the next Nora Robert book has a little more meat it. - Remember "Northern Lights"? Now that's a Nora Roberts book. ... Same Old Same Old
If you've read Nora Robert's Unfinished Business, then you've basically read this book too. There are many similarities between the two, each as predictable as the next. I've realized that a lot of Robert's older books have the same plot line as some of the newer ones, just with different character names and a different setting.

Read Holding the Dream only if you want to read it after Finding the Dream and before Daring to Dream, but don't expect too much or an exciting read.

Gotta love Nora and her series...
What can I say besides I love how Nora developes her characters and their stories.This one had a smart woman go through some healh and fraud at work that could easily happen to any normal person.This was very down to earth and again I loved the love story!Can't wait to read about Laura in the third book though!!!

"Holding"... just ok for me.
"Finding A Dream" to me was not as good as ("Daring To Dream") the first book in the trilogy. Maybe it's because Margo was a little more exciting and Josh was a little more...Josh (what a great character he was!). Kate's story was ok, but I guess to tell Margo's and Laura's story Kate's has to be told as well. Now I'm onto "Finding The Dream" (Laura's story), and I can't wait to see what kind of man Roberts has in store for her.

Genuine Lies, Nora Roberts...
Actually, got away from her for awhile.Well, was I taken back by this one!Held my interest till the end.What a different read for me and I have an abundant amount of NR's paperbacks!So many, I have to check printings to make sure I won't purchase again, LOL.Anyway, getting back to reading NR...hope to find more that intrigue like this one and once again, get attached to characters.Great read, sorry I stopped, but maybe it was an omen.Tehe.Thanks Amazon for having such a selection to chose.On site now to make more purchases, Nora Roberts, you got me back!

I love her books! And just like all of the others, I couldn't put it down!

CHARMING MYSTERY / ROMANCE
Set in Philadelphia, the story brings together Jed, a strong, brooding man and a discontented police captain and Dora Conway, intelligent, independent woman and an antiques dealer. Jed has no desire to get connected with anyone as he fights his own demons, but can't help himself. There's intrigue and suspense around antique smuggling, humor and romance, and cute interplay that keeps the reader hooked. A fun read!

Some other favorites of mine are LUNCH IN PARIS, EXPLOSION IN PARIS, Lucia, Lucia, and VERY VALENTINE.

Great Read!
I owned this book and must have loaned it out but it never was returned.I could not recall the exact title and wasn't sure it was written by Nora Roberts.I wanted to read it again so much that I searched the web for books by my favorite authors until I came across the title, Hidden Riches.I read the trailer and was so glad I found it so I purchased another copy.It has romance, suspence, family, and humor.One of Nora's better stories.

Nora Roberts At Her Best
Nora Roberts is so dependable to release " Just What I Am Interested In". Although I also enjoy " True Crime"- I have purchased many more by Roberts.
She is a Genius in keeping my interest- I would suggest anyone interested in Suspense- Romance & a Dash of Comedy at times- check out her work.

I liked it...
After reading the first two in the trilogy I couldn't wait to read more about the third, mysterious sister. I did expect a bit more out of the character, but truly enjoyed reading Mia's story.

good vs evil
very well written,keeps you guessing to the end if you are into covens ,ect this triology is for you ,read thr whole thing ,you wont be sorry

Ehhh
Now, I have not read the other two in the series, so I will not comment on the supernatural plot (which I actually found to be kind of stupid).

I could not connect to Mia. She was just too cold, and so were Nell and Ripley, to Sam. Yes, he left her. But the fact that he wanted to fix what he did is mature. And the way she talked to her friend's husband Mac really pissed me off. He also seemed to be affected by it, like when he'd blush, which made Mia seem like such a flirt, and not very intelligent. I really liked Sam's character, and felt that everybody was just too mean to him.

Not having read the other two, that's all I can really say. Though I don't think I will go out of my way to, judging by how I felt about this excuse for a finale.
