5-0 out of 5 stars Love Nora Roberts
I love most of Nora Roberts' books. This on was no exception.Really enjoyed this book and would recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Homeport comes Home
I thought Dr. Miranda Jones portrayed a very educated and convincing Renaissance authenticator together with Ryan Boldari (who by the way was a HOT thief), makes a convincing team. The only other problem I had with the story was the part of Elise it was great that she killed someone but I felt the story could have been better if they eliminated that she was doing it for revenge because she was a illegitimate relative. Other than that it was one of Nora Roberts better books.

4-0 out of 5 stars One of Nora Robert's first romantic mysteries
I first read Homeport as a condensed version published by Readers Digest in 1998.It was the first - of many - romantic mystery/suspense novels by Roberts I came across.
This is the complete book, a large format paperback published by Berkley in July, 2009.This version expands on the earlier condensed version I read, fleshing out both characters and story.
Art scholar and museum director Miranda Joens is called to Florence, Italy by her mother Elizabeth to examine a recently discovered bronze statue.Miranda is to determine if this statue is a true Renaissance masterpiece, or is it a clever fake?Miranda is convinced it is real.
But a back-up expert in Rome claims it is a fake.
On Miranda's return home from Florence, she is accosted in her home by a debonair art thief. He has stolen a bronze treasure from Miranda's gallery - and has determined it is a fake.Since Miranda's career depends on her authority as an expert in bronze artifacts, she is appalled and puzzled. She is determined to discover the truth, but her search leads her into a labrinth of deceipt and murder.
Definitely worth reading again!

5-0 out of 5 stars A fun thrilling mystery involving art and sex.
A strong principled but introverted heroine finds herself forced to work with a dashing, rambunctious thief in order to unravel the mysterious art thefts and forgeries surrounding her.
In my opinion this is one of Roberts's best novels: no supernatural stuff, nothing too gory or dark, and what it does contain is wonderful: two very different characters who challenge one another, fabulous works of art, many mysterious crimes and lots of beautiful locales. It's romantic, very sexy and funny. Enjoy!!

5-0 out of 5 stars love those jewel thieves!
I'd forgotten how much I like this book. Gotta love those gentlemen thieves--art thief in this case.Ever since I had a conversation a while back about the appeal or not of outlaw heroes, I've been trying to figure this one out. I certainly wouldn't want one IRL, appealing as they are to read about. I'm a terribly law-abiding citizen. It's the bad-boy appeal, of course, but it's more than that. I think what really grabs me about these heroes is their absolute confidence in their ability to sneak in and out of secured areas, and the intelligence it takes them to do so. They're also, without exception,non-violent. They're not thugs. And while they're not complete Robin Hoods--they don't steal ONLY to give to the poor (though many of them do contribute heavily to charity to assuage their consciences), neither do they steal from anyone who can't afford it, or isn't insured. Sure, that would end up making everyone else's insurance rates increase, but this is fiction--I don't
have to worry about it.

Okay, now that I've defended why I like Ryan Boldari, on to the rest of the story.

I love the way Ryan acts toward Miranda. He wants something fromher, but then he meets her and feels protective toward her, sympathetic of her problems, but not condescending, and not letting the problems be an obstacle. That's another reason why I like Ryan Boldari so much--he's supportive but trusts that Miranda can solve her own emotional problems--he just supports her, doesn't try to fix her.

And it's a good thing Ryan is so great, because boy, did I HATE a lot of other people in this book. Especially Miranda's mother. Too bad we didn't get to see what they ended up doing with the Dark Lady, but I'll bet Ryan ensures "mom" ends up eating her share of crow.

I was just reading something about "write what you know." Well, I'm pretty sure Nora doesn't know how to authenticate &/or restore artwork, or how to cast bronzes, but boy, is she good at making you think she does. Maybe an expert would find flaws, but for the average reader, she writes with such authority that I believe. Some authors you can tell that they researched something. They'll have lots & lots of details, and it doesn't come out as if the author knows what she's talking about--it comes out as "darn it, I did all this research, & by Jove, you're going to read it."Nora's a definite expert at appearing to be an expert.

Hmmm. Haven't said much about Miranda. I wouldn't have reacted to her mother the way she did--especially at the beginning. Taking the chastisement for being "late" and not countering with her mugging. But then, she's grown up with this all her life. She's been made to feel ALL HER LIFE that she doesn't matter. And so her reaction is spot-on. Excellent characterization, IMO.

And Andrew & Annie. Very sweet romance. Andrew was again, excellent characterization. Alcoholic, feels like a failure, and then the growing self-awareness. I could so relate to Annie when she arrived at the gala and felt so out of place, like her clothes were all wrong and she didn't fit in.

So. Bottom line: fabulous story. One of my favorites.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Little Fate
This has 3 great stories of love and magic and true destiny. Each one shows how if you believe in love than anything is worth it in the end.

5-0 out of 5 stars Adult Fairy Tales
I'm as hardened a reader as the next, but sometimes life throws one a curve and you just want to curl up with something magical which will be uplifting and *happy*. Not only are these stories uplifting and happy but they are written with wonderful language. I am so sick of the word "fisted" in chic lit ("he fisted his hands in her hair".....it is halfway between fight night and school yard brawls...........THAT is modern romance? ugh)..............this is softer, dreamier and perfect for winter's end. I wish we had more of these out of time, out of space ADULT fairy tales.

3-0 out of 5 stars Life Everlasting in Love & War.
This is one of her three-for-one deals.Three favorite tales of love and magic!Others such as this are A LITTLE MAGIC and FROM THE HEART.Early in her career, she wrote under the name of J. D. Robb, seventeen with "Death" in the titles and now REMEMBER WHEN using the old name. She is most prolific with seven series of three to six novels on a particular topic and/or same characters. She has twenty-two other novels, two anthologies under the old name and, also available, THE OFFICIAL NORA ROBERTS COMPANION.

In THE WITCHING HOUR, a wizard's spell brings a heroine to the kingdom which has been plagued by tragedy. She is a lovely woman who must follow her destiny in battle as well as heart in love.Even the gods can't save this place until the 'lady' arrives on the scene in Twylia. This reads more like science fiction with the strange fantasy names.Sometimes, fate is deceiving with its promises of better things to come. Our fates are decided by a higher power, no matter how we may strive to change it.We are here for a purpose, for a certain time, and when that is reached, we are needed no more."We'll be happy.""Yes, until the end of days."It's just a fairytale to have eternal life.

In WINTER ROSE, Deirdre wearing a red cloak, thinks "Men are such odd creatures" as she discovers a young wounded soldier lying out in the eternal winter. He had fought three enemy soldiers and lay bleeding in the snow, which saved him as his strength waned. He'd give half a kingdom to spend the last hour of his life by a fire's light and heat, he thought. He reached up to her red hood and realized that she was real and not a rose at all.The young queen's magic healed his wounds, and he warms her heart with the joys of true love. Now, that is what I call fate, to almost die and then find someone you can love until the end of time.

IN A WORLD APART is so like THE GIRL OF HIS DREAMS by Stephen Donaldson, which takes place in Medieval times only this time the Demon Slayer is the female and the 20th Century New Yorker is male. She finds a strange new world in America as did the woman librarian of the Donaldson book when she was transported back to Europe during Medieval times, where things were primitive and 'hard.'These are romances in the vein of Rosemary Rogers with passion, desire and much lovemaking.

Nora Roberts also wrote a similar title LITTLE FATE, A 12-COPY FLOOR.Magic and love abounds in her stories. They are great for young housewives whose lives have lost that loving feeling.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can not get enough
I love these stories with magick and love. It truly leaves you with a wonderful feeling.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not one of my favorite Noras
I am a HUGE Nora Roberts fan, but this book was not one of my favorites. It wasn't the quality I've come to expect from reading so many of her other books. However, I hesitate to judge too harshly, because they are short stories, so the characters and stories are not as in depth as her others. If this is your first Nora book, please try another- she's an excellent author! ... Read more

Waiting for Nick

Frederica Kimball had been waiting all her life…waiting to grow up…waiting forever for the day when Nicholas LeBeck would fall as desperately in love with her as she had always been with him.

Nick didn't know what had hit him. Sweet, adorable Freddie, whom he'd always loved like a kid sister, was suddenly all woman. And his feelings for her were anything but brotherly!

Considering Kate

Kate Stanislaski Kimball had turned her back on glamour and fame, and she'd come home to begin a new life. The only thing more perfect than the beautiful—dilapidated—building she'd bought for her new dance school was Brody O'Connell, the frustrating and surprisingly fascinating contractor she'd hired for the renovation.

But Brody was determined to resist Kate's effortless allure. She was Natasha Stanislaski's pampered, perfect daughter, after all. Still, every fiber of his being longed to make her his.… ... Read more

I absolutly loved these stories.Of all the Stanislaski seris, these were my favorite. The last book reminded me so much of the first, however it was wonderful in its own way.I love the way the end storyline circled back to the beginning. It was a very fitting end to the stories.I erally hope that she will continue with the Stanislaski's.I LOVED them!!

5-0 out of 5 stars NORA ROCKS!!!
Nora Roberts is my favorite author and no matter how bad her day may be she always delivers something worth reading.A bad day for her is probably someone else's best.As J.D. Robb she has given me a wonderful dreamscape and deep personalities that take me away from the mundane.Overall, she's great.Thank you Ms. Roberts.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very happy!
I am trying to rebuild my collection of Nora Roberts books and this seller seems to have what I'm looking for. Great prices and FAST shipping!!!!Thank you so much!!

5-0 out of 5 stars waiting for nick& considering kate
THANKS AGAIN TO NORA FOR ANOTHER OF HER GREAT STORIES. I THOUROUGHLY ENJOYED IT.COULD NOT PUT MY BOOK DOWN UNTIL I HAD FINISHED THE STORY.LOVED IT.

4-0 out of 5 stars Waiting for Nick \ Considering Kate
Bullheaded is what I would call the main characters in this book. Nicholas is scared to take a chance on a woman who he has always looked at like a sister. but the things she does to make him see she is all grown up show him another side to her that he would like to have kept in a box. Kate is a strong willed woman who knows what she wants and will go after it no matter what is said. Love is abound in this book it just takes some cutting through the baloney to get to it. which is bound to happen with any strong willed person or family for that matter. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I liked 2 outta 4
Wolf Moon - Nora Roberts
THE STORY - This is about a young ambitious girl, Simone, who is bitten by a werewolf. She then dedicates her life to finding a cure while making her special bath and home products. While in town she runs into a man she instantly recognizes as her mate. She doesn't allow anyone close for fear of being found out, but she can't deny the instinct to be near her mate. Gabe has the same pull to her, together they work on finding a cure.
THOUGHTS - I liked this quick story. Gabe and Simone are well written and belong together. This isn't my favorite of the bunch, but it was good.

MOON WITCH - Jill Gregory
THE STORY - Princess Gwynna wakes up to find that the health and beauty of her sister has been stolen by a witch. In order to save her sister she must go to the witches evil lands, but only one man has ever made it out alive. Keir never wishes to return to those evil lands, but he is unable to allow the proud beautiful Gwynna go by herself. Together they must help eachother to keep sane and accomplish their tasks for justice.
THOUGHTS - this is my favorite book of the bunch, but as usual I get disappointed in the length of the book. I wish it was longer. All the characters are well written. The connection between Keir and Gwynna is tangible. I wish there was more of them to read, but I am now going to investigate Jill Gregories other works.

BLOOD ON THE MOON - Ruth Ryan Langan
THE STORY - In the highlands of scottland there is a rebel clan burning down other clans, abusing their women and children and killing all the men. Brave little Royce watches his brave brother die, then is stabbed himself. By a miracle he is still alive and he teaches himself to take out the rebel clan members one by one. One of the last clans still standing is run by Lady Alanna, she has taken in all the women and children that escaped the evil clan. Royce is drawn to Alanna and is unable to leave her to fend for herself, together they protect her clan.
THOUGHTS - this is my second favorite story in this book. Royce's and Alanna's bravery and cunning help save themselves and their clan. This story is fast paced and intriguing, but again too short. Their love is innocent and just made me smile.

WEST OF THE MOON - Mariane Willman
THE STORY - Phoebe has always loved Gordon, who is her cousin - that part is weird.... They were supposed to marry but 7 years ago he cancelled on her. She is now broke and going to live with Gordons father - she thinks to be a servant. Upon arriving she finds Gordon horribly scarred. He flirts with her, but keeps his distance. Phoebe is drawn to different fae workings trying to draw her into their trap. Gordon trys desperately to save her from his fate that is his personal hell. He is almost free, but if they draw her in he will lose her forever.
THOUGHTS - This book was very creative and well written. I would have liked to see more of the fae world, but in this book it is written as something bad. How can the fae be bad? =)

4-0 out of 5 stars MoonShadows
This book was a surprise to me how entertaining it was.I have been a Nora Roberts fan for years and had never read this one before.Three out of thestories werevery good . The last typically was lacking.Overall an excellent read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good
Nora Roberts her books speak for themselves.I don't think I have ever came across a book of hers I did not like.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nora Roberts "Wolf Moon" makes this worth buying...
This is a loosely connected set of paranormal stories. Nora Roberts "Wolf Moon" is ultimately the story that makes this anthology a keeper and it is the only reason that I gave this book 5 stars. The other stories were so-so and dull to the point of actually skipping pages just to get through the story.

"Wolf Moon" is the story of a female werewolf who caught the werewolf "virus" while on a vacation in Europe. Since then she has moved from town to town and has struggled to find a cure for her condition. She ultimately settles down and meets a vet who falls in love with her and wants to cure her.

I don't normally read werewolf fiction, but this story is so well written and the characters are so real that the story draws you right in. It's so good that you ultimately wish the story wouldn't end, like a good book.

I highly recommend this anthology, but only because of the Nora Roberts story. Perhaps borrowing from the library is the best bet for someone who wants to read before buying.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not The Best
As some of the other comments go, the only story worth reading in this book was the one written by Nora Roberts. Her story was great, the others . . . not so much.I struggled to finish the other stories in the book and considered it a huge accomplishment when I was finally done reading it.As a whole the book is definitely not the best. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Futuristic
I read this a few years ago and lent my daughter the books, she read the first and could not locate the other two.I bought the series for her as she enjoyed the first, but as she received the new she located the remainder of the first set. Thus I returned the new I purchased when I got them.We both enjoyed the novels thought very futuristic.Got to get her a kindle so we quit duplicating.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nora Roberts - Key Trilogy
Very captivating reading!!I read the Key Triology and was literally hooked. It was after that I purchased the Three Sisters Triology and am currently reading The Circle Trilogy.Enjoyable is all I can say.Not your everyday romance.Written as only Nora Roberts can do.

5-0 out of 5 stars Keys Triligoy
This was my second Nora Roberts Trilogy...I had previously read the Three Sisters Island trilogy and was so "sold" that I just had to have more Nora Roberts. This was as good if not better than Three sisters. The plots always seem to revolve around one of the 3 characters (one per book).I have just completed my third trilogy: Diamonds of the sun, Tears of the moon and Heart of the Sea.I loved this series so much I started thinking with an Irish "brough" (sp).I am now ordering my 4th set and can hardly wait to receive shipment, I feel I am not "reading" unless I am reading a new trilogy. As with the New Moon series, it is pleasant that the story doesn't just end, you know there are more to come...until you come to the end of the 3rd book at which time you are ready to move on to some new characters and plots...but certainly not disappointed.I hope there is a Nora Roberts fan club, because I will join...some of these trilogies I believe would make great mini-series on Lifetime Movie Channel.Happy Reading!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Must Read Trilogy
This is a MUST read trilogy for any Nora Roberts fan.I had a hard time putting each of the 3 books down. I had to really work at pacing myself while reading the stories.

Each book is about 3 women who've been chosen years ago to find 3 keys to unlock a box of souls & set free the Daughters of Glass.Mallory, Dana & Zoe also have to work with Flynn, Jordan & Bradley to help find their key.Rowena & Pitte will help them, to an extent. Then you have Kane, the angry god who will stop at nothing to keep the women from finding their keys.Even going so far as to trap each woman in her fantasy world.

As with other books of Nora's, you'll be glued to each page, not wanting to put down the book until you've read the whole story.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not the best, but a decent "trash" novel
I wouldn't call this trilogy a literary work of art, but it was a decent read for some cold winter days. Set in northern PA, the book takes a magical element and throws together a hodgepodge of 3 men, 3 women, a kid and a dog into a magical 3 month adventure. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Book
I have become a Nora Roberts fan and I am trying to "catch up" on her books.I like her books and enjoy the books with more than one story.I think that any Nora Roberts fan would enjoy or just anyone looking for a good beach read.

2-0 out of 5 stars 2 out of 3 stories a waste with thoroughly unsatisfying male leads; all just too short
This is a collection of three stories:

1.Risky Business: 1 star
2.Storm Warning: 1/2 star
3.The Welcoming: 2 1/2 stars

The truth is, they were all too short to be fulfilling in the suspense department; 150 pages just is not enough time to create a truly scary villain and suspense and romance at the same time. Also, the romance in "Risky Business" and especially "Storm Warning" was just really off, with two thoroughly unsatisfying male leads.Lucas in "Storm Warning" is just an absolute jerk and comes close to raping Autumn at one point, and I didn't find that romantic at all.Roberts slightly redeems herself with the last story, "The Welcoming," which had just a really sweet cast of characters and a touch of humor in it that the others were lacking. However, it still was just too short to be really fulfilling and do the storyline justice; I don't know why Roberts does these little short vignettes when they have enough storyline and meat to be full tales.Borrow it for "The Welcoming," but certainly don't spend money on this one--not up to Roberts' usual standards.I recommend Roberts' Blue Smoke or the O'Hurley series (Born O'Hurley (The Last Honest Woman / Dance to the Piper) and O'Hurley's Return: Skin DeepWithout A Trace (The O'hurleys)) for the best of Nora Roberts.

3-0 out of 5 stars Too Harlequin for me
I liked the story and the characters, but it was just too Harlequin for me.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing
Let me start by saying, I absolutelylove Nora Roberts. She is right up there with Sandra Brown, Judith McNaught and LaVyrle Spencer for me, a real leading lady in the romance/mystery novel genre.

So, I was thrilled to see this book during one of my weekly trips to my local thrift store to search for new Nora Roberts fare.I have read probably 85% of her romance books and am getting in to her mystery books as well.Because of my love for her, and my avid addiction to her books, I am very familiar with her nearly flawless writing style.

The first two stories in this book are a huge disappointment. The worst offender is Storm Warning.Honestly, it was nearly unreadable for me.I considered giving up around Chapter 3 but forged ahead and it barely got any better. Then I looked at the original published date and discovered the problem. For Storm Warning, it was 1984 and you can really tell how immature Nora's writing was at the time.Seriously, it is just so awful.Beyond the actual writing and style issues, the main characters have zero chemistry.Lucas doesn't come across as even remotely attractive, but more weird and creepy, and beyond mean.

The first story, Risky Business, is only slightly better.I believe it was published in 1987 originally. The general plot is better and you really are rooting for the main characters to get together, even though you know they will. With Storm Warning, I really didn't care whether they did or not.And once Lucas declares his love for Autumn, it is so unbelievable and ridiculous that I almost laughed. You get absolutely no hint that he has any real feelings for her up until that point. And their past is so under-developed that it's absurd that it was even part of the plot.

I am a few chapters in to The Welcoming now, published in 1989 I think, and already it is so much better. The main characters already have tons of chemistry and are both very likeable.I am excited to read this one but would never recommend the first two.Do not waste your $$ on this.Buy it at the thrift store (like I did, for 99 cents) or borrow it from someone.

Sorry Nora, I love you and own most of your books but this was not worth re-printing.

2-0 out of 5 stars What a difference 22 years makes...
I am a huge Nora Roberts fan, but it is evident in these early works what a difference 22 years of writing has made for her.
These are so-so short stories that show hints of her current style without the polish.
Risky Business and The Welcoming were okay - nothing special - but could have used a little more character development. Okay as a short stories go.
Storm Warning was definitely not her best effort and could have used about 100 pages of character development to explain the history of the two lead characters - especially the male. (Maybe his character was indicative of the time it was written in and the style used back in 1984.)
All in all an interesting look at her early efforts/style, but her more current works are much better. ... Read more

I love Nora Roberts books and these books are no different. I love the fact that she based them from the man's perspective and added the adventure of the Pagan Stone. It was a very interesting read.

Deanna Reynolds was happy working in her chosen field of reporting on the news. She didn't mind starting at the bottom, and almost didn't mind being at the beck and call of the self-important Angela Perkins.Dee was learning a lot from Angela, but she also knew she wasn't above taking advantage of Dee's generous spirit.Never before considering herself a rival, she was beyond hurt when Angela seduced her current love interest, Marshall Pike just to try to keep her in line. When Angela took a job in New York, Dee felt she could breathe a sigh of relief and concentrate on her career. She thought she had everything she could ever want.Deanna had an enviable career, and her new love Finn at her side. It was then that the other shoe dropped, and her life spun out of her control.

This book had everything you want in a novel - lust, love, hatred, and betrayal. The cutthroat world of television is captured as only SB can.I am constantly amazed at the wonderful characters she creates spun into a well crafted story.

1-0 out of 5 stars REALLY SHOULD HAVE SKIPPED THIS ONE---
I barely made it through it. Sadly, I found all the characters extremely annoying...especially the bland too-goody-goody-trying-to-be-tough heroine, which was a shame as I thought the book's setting in the world of television an interesting subject. The stalker was too blatantly obvious and the whole book seemed to go on F-O-R-E-V-E-R. Also, like another reviewer stated, the narrator (Julie Finneran) was herself annoying which didn't help my overall experience.

4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting TV Mystery Romance Novel
I really enjoy this book.Although it was a super slow read for me.It took me almost 2 weeks to finish.Normally it takes me 4 days so you can see I was struggling with it a little bit. It's not that it's not interesting. It's very good but it just took me a long time to finish.

Deanna and Angela's competition for daytime talkshow was really interesting. And the way Angela is suppose to be the "bad guy" in this case, "bad girl" was great. She comes off as really mean and confident. But deep inside, she was a very insecure girl. The love story between Deanna and Finn was romantic enough. With Deanna's skeleton's in the closet, Finn comes off as a very understanding person. It's a very adult relationship that actually takes time to develop. Not the love at first sight and go straight to bed and fall in love romance.

Overall, it's a good ADULT read.It was well written and not over the top sex scenes. It does drag in some places but it depends on if you are interested in the making of TV talkshow and the TV business.Since I'm not in the TV business, it was rather interesting to read.Although it might not be real, that's why it's FICTION.I do recommend this to anyone who is looking for something romantic, with a little bit of kick and a little dark. But the most important part is......its a happy ending!^^

Wondefful character development.Good environmental development.Enough mystery to keep the villain from being discovered too soon.

5-0 out of 5 stars Northern Lights
Nora Roberts is an fantastic author. Each book has twists and turns and Northern Lights is no exception. I love how you can't put the book down. Each book is a thrilling.

4-0 out of 5 stars Well written romantic suspense
I enjoyed the audio version of this book, narrated by Gary Littman who is a talented voice actor. Nora has written a good, solid romantic-suspense plot with well developed characters. I especially liked Chief Burke, the new police chief in the small village of Lunacy, Alaska. He discovers some of the town's upstanding citizens have a past that has a part in the crime he is attempting to solve. Meg is his love interest, and while she is a little too bull-headed for my taste, she grew on me toward the end. This is a 16 hour audio tape.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fantastically read, and not your stereoptypical Nora Roberts
The way Gary Littman reads this book, alone, is worth the purchase price.I listen constantly to audio books, and I can't think of a more vivid reading.I wish he'd would record oodles more books! And this is not, to my mind, a stereotypical Nora Robert's plot.I'm no expert on her, but I've read enough of her stories to make some comparison. In fact, "Northern Lights" is a pretty good crimi/adventure story, with enough romance to please her devoted fans, I suspect. To me, it's primarily about Alaska and about the life of this town, plus its interesting residents. I'm sure much of my enthusiasm for the story comes from Mr. Littman's considerable talents as reader/performer.I shared this with a male cousin who ordinarily would not pick up such a book, and he thoroughly enjoyed it.

3-0 out of 5 stars NOT A KEEPER---
Sort of a light take on a James Bond--Spy Who Loved Me type of romance story. The book was okay, but the ending was quite dull.

4-0 out of 5 stars without a trace
This story without a trace, I would say is a very good novel to read, it exposes how the tourist operates in the real world. I felt sorry for Dr. Gillian, what she had went through trying to locate his kidnapped brother Flynn and her nice Caitlin.
The entire story was so excited, romantic and sorrowful, because each time Dr. Gillian and Trace O` Hurley thought they are getting close to the solution, it would became harder. Charlie Forrester died because of the situation, hoping that might help solved the entire problem; but the poor man died in vain, because Gillian's brother and her nice are no were to be found.
To me, I think this book is a good book to read; it put your mind in suspense and I think one can also learn from the story.

4-0 out of 5 stars Trace is My Favorite O'Hurley!
One of Nora Roberts' most dynamic family creations is the O'Hurley family. Frank and Mary O'Hurley are the parents of very talented children and the stage is their home - they are traveling musicians/singers/dancers and go from performance to performance. Frank and Mary's first born is Trace, who plays the piano for the family act while his sisters, mother, and father dance and sing. IN the family chronology, after Trace came a set of triplets: Chantel, Abigail and Maddy. Chantel's story was told in Skin Deep, Abigail's story was narrated in The Last Honest Woman and Maddy's story was recounted in Dance to the Piper. In Without a Trace we finally get to learn about the brother of this group - the quiet one who left the family act and seemed to disappear off the face of the earth.

Trace and his father had always been at odds with each other and as Trace got older, it was more difficult for him to understand why his father pushed the family the way he did. During one of these heated arguments, Trace walked away from his family only to be heard from infrequently since. Trace struck out on his own and didn't want commitments or responsibilities - he was basically a talented drifter using his musical abilities to provide food and shelter. At a seedy bar in a foreign country, Trace was approached and became a modern day mercenary/spy. Without a Trace picks up at the end of this secret agent type career with Trace trying to figure out where he wants his life to travel next. As fate would have it, into his life walks Gillian Fitzpatrick. Gillian's brother had disappeared under mysterious circumstances and she needs Trace to help her find him. Of course the sexual chemistry is there to add spice to this tale of intrigue.

Nora Roberts deviates from the standard romance genre in Without a Trace and throws a little mystery and suspense into the mix. It's enough to keep the reader interested and results in the book being a "page turner". Some of the plot lines are a little far-fetched but somehow Roberts takes them from a "no way would that happen" to a "well, maybe" type of thinking.

Once again Nora Roberts shows her devoted readers why they should remain diehard fans - the story is one that has wit, humor, romance and excitement. While I was reading the books about the O'Hurley triplets, I often wondered what had happened to Trace, as his sisters were always wistfully thinking about him. And it seemed like he never showed up for the important things in their lives (weddings, births of babies, etc.) but sent word to them instead. If he was able to show up, it was a very special occasion and resulted in much celebration. You could always feel the love this family had for each other, and Trace was always the quiet, mysterious one that the reader never heard much about. Nora Roberts built up the suspense through three previous books before we finally get to learn all about Trace. After reading Without a Trace I can tell you that it was definitely worth the wait! Now maybe Nora Roberts will continue with this family like she has with the MacGregor Clan and tell the tales of the offspring of the O'Hurley siblings. I can always hope...

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent story
Nora Roberts is a great writer and I always enjoy her stories. Of the three stories in this series this is my favorite. I would love to see a follow up and find out where these characters go on to. There is a bit of magic but not too much. I read this one over and over whenever I can.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Escape!
I love Nora Roberts but this book is one of my favorites. The setting is amazing and I feel like I am sitting in Ireland.

You won't be dissapointed with this book.

3-0 out of 5 stars Well written but dissappointing
Here is what I liked about this book: The writing style and also the dynamic between the tree sisters. However, the whole romance was based on a very limited and strict "love at first sight" idea that basically undermines the real and deep love that can only be achieved through knowledge of your lover. It was like a very naive 13 years old and a very mature woman have written this book together. Don't even get me started on all the sex-with-no-condoms scenes that had me cringing instead of enjoying them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Always enjoy Nora Roberts Books.
Born in Shame was the perfect ending for the Trilogy. I enjoy most of the books that Nora Roberts writes but mainly the ones with Irish backgrounds as that is part of my heritage. Good reading.

4-0 out of 5 stars Family Secrets and Shame
In this third book, all of the family secrets are out and we meet the results of those secrets.Shannon is a New York at heart, the lights and bustle of the city are what she lives for. After the death of her mother she dicovers secrets she wished she never had learned and with those secrets come the reality that she must face those secrets headon, whether she wants to or not.She is forced to travel overseas to deal with this past face to face and there she meets Murphy, a strong able bodied farmer with a heart of gold and a body not many woman could resist.Again, although Shannon refuses to see the truth, she fights every single minute against falling in love with Murphy despite his constant efforts to get her to believe he is truly in love with her and they are meant to be together. This book brings the meaning to meant to be together to a whole new level as it appears their past lives come back to haunt them.In the end as Nora Roberts is very good at, love wins every time.Shannon and Murphy find themselves at a crossroads they had been at a lifetime before, the only difference is whether this one will end the way the last one did. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Trilogy
This is my first review so it may not be as detailed as the others but I needed to let everyone know that this was my favorite trilogy of Nora Roberts. When Nora comes out with a trilogy I won't buy them until all three books are released because I want to read them all at once and this one was no exception.I couldn't put them down and had all three books read in two weeks!Working full time with three kids...this feat is a challenge and needless to say the laundry didn't get done. The magic, the dark side, the love, the war and the erotic sex made this her best yet!I downloaded these books to my Kindle but will now purchase them in hard copy so that I can share them with my friends and family.

5-0 out of 5 stars Morrigan's Cross by Nora Roberts
Good book if you like Nora Robert's as an author you will love this book.Short not a lot of pages but good plott and storyline.Interesting book.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ho hum
I typically love Nora Robert's trilogies when in the mood for "comfort" reading. It's predictable in a fun way when not wanting to tax my brain too much and wanting to be entertained.I typically read a book of this size in about two days but this one took me four. The reason being - it was not particularly interesting. The first half of the book drug along at a snail's pace but (fortunately) it picked up in the latter half and moved much more quickly.

This first of three vampire books involves time travel, romance and reminds me of "Twilight" for adults.I am not a huge vampire book fan though have read the occasionally. This had some fun/interesting moments but much of it was all about the six main characters preparing for battle with the vampires wishing to wipe out mankind.A little more action and a little less preparation (and preparation and preparation) would have caught my interest and provided a better read.

I bought all three of the books already so I will go ahead and read the next two, but at this point I'm fairly lukewarm about the series and hope it perks up.

3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good
Nora Roberts stuff is usually fun, if nothing else. Her work is of course of the formulaic flavor but at the same time satisfying solid. This was the first fantasy Nora Roberts book that I had come in contact with. I've only read her more realistically modern pieces up until now.
I felt as though this book was a fluffy version of The Stand in some ways + romance. A lot of the same themes apply: Armageddon, battle vs good and evil, god or gods appointing a rag-tag resistance to save the world. But in this case it seems that the love story between Hoyt and Glenna got in the way of the bigger battle at foot. There are scenes devoted to what the characters are fighting, how they are going to do it, etc, but in a very general way. I would have liked more exposition on Lilith and her "army" of evil. It seemed a bit disproportionate. The majority of the novel details the main characters lounging around Cian's Ireland home, reading, eating soup, doing katas?, and above all Glenna and Hoyt's constant love making. Their actual skirmishes with the enemy were brief at best and spottily narrated.
I had ALOT of problems with Glenna's character. Her forced toughness fell flat with me as it seemed all she did was write checks with her mouth that her butt couldn't cash. She constantly touts her steely reserve while the first time she encounters Lilith her response is to run naked into Hoyt's bedroom for comforting. Her romantic development with Hoyt was predictable and uninteresting. I did really like Hoyt's character, but that may have been solely due to the fact that I kept imagining Gerard Butler in my head when he spoke, so who knows.
Nonetheless, the supporting characters are wholly more intriguing than the central folks, but I suppose that they are more focused on in the sequential novels of the trilogy.
I suspect that Cian and Moira will have a romantic entanglement in the sequel, that will be a lot more interesting to see played out in comparison to that of Hoyt and Glenna's.

4-0 out of 5 stars CIRCLE TRILOGY BEGINNING

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Series!
People probably do not associate Nora Roberts with the paranormal or horror. This is a series which delivers the romance one expects plus an often scary ghost story. I was uncomfortable more than once while reading it late at night. The characters are well-developed; readers will feel like they know them. The story is not overdone. There is humor, drama, and romance, all seasoned with a sprinkle of ghostly flavor. A real treat.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ghost love stories that send shivers down your spine!
A riveting ghost story with sparkling love stories intertwined. These books are enthralling with characters that are as interesting as the ghost itself! Nora Roberts has the ability to weave plots that keep you wondering, all the while you're falling in love with the story itself. I especially enjoyed the gardening aspects - considering that I'm not much of a gardener, all her references made me want to become one.
A truly terrific trilogy in the successful vein that has made Nora Roberts the queen of romantic fiction.

5-0 out of 5 stars Has Nora Roberts ever written a BAD book?
This trilogy was great!! I hesitated reading it because OTHER books seemed more appealing to me at the time.I finally got around to reading this set and thought. "Oh my, why did I put these off so long? They are amazing."

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful as always!
This trilogy was great. As always, I didn't want it to end.I love Nora Roberts' books, especially the trilogies because they go on and on.I think it would be great to go further, but I guess it might be difficult to come up with more and more of the same people. It's nice to be in their lives and watch their families grow. You really feel like you know the characters.I've read some reviews of other books of hers saying that they are all the same.Well, basically they are, but that's why I love them. They are different enough to keep you reading, but you know everything will end wonderfully.I love how she has witches, ghosts, etc. in them.I think this makes them even more interesting.I am so glad I discovered her books. Can't get enough!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Re-packaging is getting old... .

3-0 out of 5 stars Nora Roberts is awesome

5-0 out of 5 stars received this book
I have not had a chance to read this book yet. But did receive it and am looking forward to reading

4-0 out of 5 stars Not a risk to read
Nora Roberts always builds characters and their surroundings with skill, these 2 stories are no exception. `Partners' and `The Art of Deception' are 2 books previously published but not readily available until now in "Worth the Risk'. First this should get the proverbial gold star for not hiding the fact that they are previously published books, (1985 and 1986). So many authors/publishers seem to try to hide that fact that they are issuing works you might have read before.
Both stories of course deal with romance and you know in the end the couples will find each other, but Nora Roberts is so good at adding a dash of mystery, suspense and describing the scenes and surroundings it really makes for an enjoyable reading.
The first story `Partners' deals with 2 newspaper reporters in New Orleans. You can just hear and picture the newsroom and the swamp; and best ofall you are not quite sure of the surrounding mystery's solution.
The second story is `The Art of Deception'. It deals with 3 artists and forgeries in a castle along the Hudson River. Once more, until the end you are not sure ofwho is responsible for any events or what is going on - you wind up making the discoveries and solving the puzzling activities along with the characters. That alone is extraordinary for romance novels where usually 10 pages in you really know exactly what is occurring. Nora Roberts is indeed the consummate romance writer and this is not a risk of your time to read this.

4-0 out of 5 stars I read the originals.
This is a reprint of two older books from Nora Roberts. Although Partners was ok, the Art of Deception was one of my favorite from her.It is playful and yet the father/daughter interaction is so moving - a daughter who wants to protect her father but knows he is not quite on the up-and-up. The dialog is so great, and I enjoyed the tale many years ago and will enjoy reading it again. ... Read more

Good Book.enjoyed reading about characters and how they relate to their grandfather and their reaction when they realize that they were set up

5-0 out of 5 stars A Favorite!
One of my all time favorite books. Read the "Grooms" book, too. The entire MacGregor series is a pleasure. The grandfather tickles me. I loved all the characters and their stories.

5-0 out of 5 stars Humor and romance
In these stories, The MacGregor plays match maker to his granddaughters. As The MacGregor sets the stage for each match, none are suspecting, even down to the thrid granddaughter. Each story is strong enough to stand alone, though short. They are consecutive in the timeline. Each story has unique characters and it's own story line. And, there is prelude to The MacGregor Grooms.

5-0 out of 5 stars The MacGregor Brides
It was a good book.An easy read which I was looking for.And caught me up on the MacGregor Saga.

5-0 out of 5 stars good anthology
**** Laura. This is the first MacGregor story I'd ever read, and that initial bit by Daniel really threw me.I really needed to have gotten to know him in earlier books to not find him strange and kind of creepy. But now that I know him, it's not so bad.Anyway.Parts of this story were great. But I didn't like that the hero was coming on to a woman he'd only just met.And I didn't like the heroine's father much in this one.Other than that, it was a good story.

***** "Gwendolyn."She's an ER doc, he's a writer.Respect on both sides, Daniel of course throws them together.Probably my favorite of this anthology.

****½ "Julia."She's....well, I think she's in real estate. And she has political ambitions. He's a contractor, works with his dad.The standard plot of they snipe at each other but they're attracted, and she wants "rules" for the relationship.Fun stuff when both of them are waiting for the other to say "I love you" first.I know it's not fair of me, but this one doesn't get 5 stars because I'm just so tired of that plot. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars best of the three
I read the third book in this trilogy before I read this one because of the reviews. My mistake. This was my favorite of the three. Beautifully written. Loved it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Maybe Roberts' best
I've read a lot of Nora Roberts' books and this is my absolute favorite. I've read and re-read it several times. Grayson is sweet despite his troubled past, and Brianna is as constant and warm as she was in this first book of the trilogy. You end up really rooting to get what she deserves. To be honest the rest of the trilogy, while not bad, didn't do it for me. But this one was a perfect, sweet love story.

5-0 out of 5 stars This one is my favorite!
This second book in this "Born in" trilogy was my absolute favorite.I loved this one from beginning to end. Here we meet Brianna and Gray and watch how they grow from total strangers to absolute lovers. This union is one of the hardest as they know from the start that they can never be together, not the way they would like to be.They too are from different worlds, his is constantly on the road and her's is thickly rooted in the Blackthorn Inn.Despite their eventual love and passion for each other they both must face the truth that he will have to leave soon. This particular book had me laughing out loud sometimes and crying at others. But in the end the final pages of this one had me crying so much, it was the best ending I've read in a long time, it even had me holding my breath for a time or two.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great romance between two quiet and lonely people; better than its prequel
BORN IN ICE has good reviews on Amazon.com (average customer rating of 4 stars), but it is the least preferred one of the trilogy. I myself liked it better than Born in Fire and give it a solid four stars. I love the quiet heroines and Brianna is definitely that; she's so reserved and cool at times that I would have liked to see her lose her temper in one big fiery blowout at least once in the book. Regardless of this, Brianna was an interesting heroine and despite my apprehensions from the first book, she was much more accessible than I thought she would be.

Gray was a wonderful hero and he and Brianna are perfect for each other. Their trip to New York was one of the highlights of the book;he's so sweet to her and her bafflement when he gives her gifts is very amusing. The love scene while they're in NYC was the hottest one in the book and one of the best. Gray is always so tender and loving when they make love (Brianna is a virgin, so at first she's somewhat frightened/confused by her feelings for and attraction to him) and this one rougher and hotter moment had me fanning myself a little, lol. Though of course nothing beats the scene in Rising Tides between Ethan and Grace against the tree - whew!! ;-)

The relationship between Brianna and Gray was always honest, forthright, and open, which was something I really appreciated. They are reserved with one another about their pasts, but when it comes to their relationship with each other, there were no misunderstandings, no lies, no secrets, etc. As always, Roberts has one of the characters realizing and admitting their love, while the other one refuses to admit the truth until the end - still, the end is wonderful, sweet, and just perfect for those two characters.

"BORN IN" TRILOGY:
1) Born in Fire (1994) - Maggie's story
2) BORN IN ICE (1995) - Brianna's story
3) Born in Shame (1996) - Shannon's story

The trilogy follows the Concannon sisters. The first book features Maggie, a glass-blowing artist of fiery temper, and Rogan Sweeney, a very successful and driven international gallery owner; opposites attract in this book. Then comes Brianna, Maggie's quietly reserved sister who finds contentment in running her inn and making strangers feel comfortable when they are far from home; her hero is Grayson Thane, a well-known mystery writer who has been a lone wanderer for most of his life and treasures the fact that he isn't tied down.

The trilogy ends with Shannon, their American half-sister, whose existence they have only learned of during the second book. She is the result of a brief affair between her mother and their father and has grown up in America, never having met the other side of her family. Shannon's hero is the wonderful and sexy Murphy Muldoon, who was featured in both of the trilogy's other books.

BOTTOM LINE:
A great read that I would definitely recommend. The first book in the trilogy, Born in Fire, can be passed over, but it's worth checking out from the library if you want to read all three books of the trilogy. Now it's on to Born in Shame for me! I'll let you know what the verdict is :-)

The Fall of Shane MacKade

Shane MacKade loved women. He loved the look of them, the smell of them, the taste of them—everything about them. So the last thing he expected was to become a one-woman man. 5-0 out of 5 stars The MacKade Brothers: Devin & Shane
I have read many Nora Roberts books, she is a gifted story teller, but this is the first one that made me cry (that is a good thing). I finished the first book in this series and had to hunt to find this book, it is worth all the wait and work. A must read for all Nore Roberts fans and all who like to see people recover from abuse and be truely happy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Roberts at her best
Books three and four of the MacKade series, combining the stories of the younger MacKades, Devin and Shane. I read this compilation first, which may or may not have been a good choice. There's something to be said for starting from the top, after all, but I absolutely fell in love with this series and these brothers.

Devin MacKade, former bad boy of Antietam, Maryland, is now the sheriff. Responsible for putting away the abusive ex-husband of his childhood crush, Cassie Connor, Devin takes his duty seriously but doesn't allow himself to confess his feelings to Cassie. Patient, determined, and methodical, Devin is nonetheless quick to rumble with his brothers and can hold his own. Devin and Cassie's romance is sweet -- I think the word might be 'adorable'. I admired Cassie for her resilience and her attempts to take a stand, but her resistance to a relationship doesn't really hold water with me until she takes into account her children's feelings. Then it really stands out. Devin's proposal was the best of the four, in my opinion, and made me cry.

Youngest of the MacKades is farm-boy Shane, who seems as good-natured and lovable as the golden retrievers he owns. Heroine of the story is child genius Dr. Rebecca Knight, who does a great job at playing femme fatale when, in reality, she's barely in touch with her own sexuality. Rebecca confused me, because though she's a virgin, she seems awfully in control of herself. Although this is explained in the story, it never really convinced me, which was the only downfall of the story, in my opinion. Shane was absolutely lovable, and it was his character, and the continuation of the brothers' relationship and escapades, that had me falling in love with the MacKade family. The ending rang a little hollow, and Shane's sudden acceptance of his deep-rooted fears were glossed over in the rush for the finish, but altogether not unsatisfactory.

Nora Roberts truly lives up to her reputation of knowing family, and she nailed the portrayal of the big, happy, male-dominated family in this series. Far and away my favorite Nora Roberts books, and a poignant depiction of what it means to be family.

5-0 out of 5 stars MacKade
Absolutely fabulous book, the four brothers series was a fast paced modern romance series that I just couldn't put down.

4-0 out of 5 stars 3 1/2 stars
The beginning of these stories started out fine, but I had a few little problems with each of them.

In the first one, the character of Conner was just not realistic. His dialogue would change from little kid, to teenager. I could never remember how old he was either because of the constantly changing ways he acted. Also, Cassie didn't always act like somebody who was abused. She liked that Devin wanted to rip her clothes off because he wanted her so bad. She liked that he was rough? No. No no no no no. That makes no sense.

In the second story, it took me a while to like Rebecca. At some times I could definitely relate to her and understood where she was coming from. Other times she was a tad too cold.

I loved both of the men though. It seems like I can never fully like any of Nora Roberts' heroines. She makes them all have a bit of selfishness in them.

5-0 out of 5 stars The MacKade Brothers
I really enjoyed reading the stories of the MacKade brothers. I have read both books of theres and loved them both. They are very heartwarming stories of there lives and loves. ... Read more

I picked up Treasures by Nora Roberts, I had not expected it to be much more than a semi-interesting read. However, with every page turn, I became more and more attached to the novel's heroine, and actually found it very difficult to put the book down. Since reading this book, I have highly recommended it to all my girlfriends. It's a beautiful story about life, love and friendship filled with excitement, heartbreak and hope!!! I'd also recommend reading K. G. Glaub's novel -- Circe's Song --if you haven't yet!!

5-0 out of 5 stars My First Nora Roberts Trilogy Book...
I enjoyed reading this book, mainly due to the fact that I could relate to Stella very well. Blue Dahlia really set the tone regarding all of the characters in the series. I have never read any Nora Roberts trilogies, this was my first. I really enjoyed the series and am looking forward to reading more Nora Roberts books in the future.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nora Roberts does it again.
I love her books - especially the trilogies with a little supernatural in it.I get so engrossed in them and they get my mind off other things for a while. This one was no different.I can't wait to start book 2 of this trilogy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!!
Excellent Book. Nora Roberts always out does herself with her trilogies and this one is great. A must read for all Nora Roberts fans.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not the Best of Its Trilogy, But Enjoyable Nevertheless
I've read three Nora Roberts trilogies now and In the Garden is beyond question my favorite. The foundation is formulaic (if you're familiar with Roberts you can guess how she sets the pairings up, for example), but the individual characters aren't carbon copies, or cardboard, or thin stereotypes. The ghost story that brings everyone together is interesting, written with some subtlety--and maybe most importantly, I could guess where everyone would end up in the end but I still wanted to see how they'd get there. _Blue Dahlia_ is my least favorite of the three books, but it sets up our leading pairs and the paranormal arc that connects them in a way that led me eagerly into the next story.

Stella Rothchild, the heroine, is a young woman seeking to make a new life for herself and her family in Memphis, Tennessee. I didn't always care for her. At times she came across as controlling and smug, and oh, I did want to see one of her schemes for improving the nursery fail. Just one! Just to show she was fallible and human rather than the Perfect Manager. This doesn't happen, alas. However, there's a lot I liked *about* Stella even when I wanted to throw a clipboard at the woman herself. Widowed just two years before the main story starts, her priority in life isn't to find herself a new man. She stumbles into romance with Logan Kittredge more or less by chance and her first husband isn't conveniently and immediately forgotten. Nora Roberts doesn't go the cheap route of devaluing that marriage; Logan and Stella love each other, but Stella loved Kevin at least as much, and if he hadn't died Stella would still be with him and be very happy. Stella never seems to doubt that, and I liked her better for it.

Also a treat are Roz Harper, Stella's boss, and Harper Ashby, Roz's son. These two remained favorites of mine throughout the trilogy. Roz's housekeeper David is a fun character too, a homosexual man who doesn't fall into the trap of being the stereotypical 'heroine's bestest gay friend.' David doesn't spend all his pages swishing around advising Stella on what shoes to wear, thank God. He's a real part of the family the various protagonists eventually find in each other. The ghost element stays mostly in the background for _Blue Dahlia_, playing second fiddle to Stella's personal story of establishing herself in Memphis and finding new love.Nonetheless, it's important, only to become moreso later--good news if you like paranormal plots, bad news if such things aren't to your taste.

Oddly enough, if the book falters on any point it's in the romance. Everything I said before is true and good, that Stella's relationship with Logan doesn't erase what she had with Kevin et al; the problem is... why are Stella and Logan together at all? Their personalities seem incompatible at the core. She's controlling, dictatorial, very much a manager, and he's laid-back, disorganized, and artistic. Rather than growing to appreciate one another, it's more like they were suddenly in love, wham, like that, when I was still trying to figure out why Stella stopped annoying the crap out of Logan despite not changing her behavior. Does 'we both like her kids' and 'yay hot sex' a true love make? Of the three books this one is definitely the weakest in this regard.

But it would be hard to follow the rest of the trilogy without reading _Blue Dahlia_ first, and since they're too fun to miss I can hardly keep from recommending this! I enjoyed the story enough on its own merits to recommend it anyway. All the side characters make up somewhat for the clashing leads; I didn't buy into Stella and Logan's love, but it's not one of those cases where that spoiled the book for me. For quick, pleasant romance reading, _Blue Dahlia_ is a fine choice.
