Not very good at all
I believe this book was listed as good but it was not. It was very poor with yellowing of pages and stains of other sorts all over.

LOVE IT!
while the MacKade brothers are still my favorite; the Quinn brothers are just as facinating.

3 stars and 2.5 stars for books 3 and 4 in the Chesapeake Bay series.Enjoyable teasing and conversations among family members.
THE SERIES:
The Chesapeake Bay series includes four books which tell a continuing story about a family.Ray and Stella Quinn adopt three troubled boys who came from abusive homes.In the first three books the boys are about 30 years old.They left home, have good jobs and are single.Stella died several years earlier.In the beginning of the first book Ray took in another boy, 10-year-old Seth, who was abused by his mother Gloria.Gloria offered to give legal guardianship to Ray in return for a large sum of money.Before anything was official, Ray died in a car accident.Shortly before he died, he asked his three sons to move back home to take care of Seth.All three men promised they would.They decide to start a boat building business.In the first three books each of the three men meets and falls in love with a woman.The fourth book tells the story of Seth, who is grown, returns home and falls in love.The best parts of the first three books are watching the developing relationships among Seth and the three men and seeing Seth blossom.Each book has a minor amount of fantasy due to some conversations with a ghost.The four books, main characters, and my ratings are:

3 stars for INNER HARBOR (Book 3).

Story Brief:
Phillip's mother was a stripper and prostitute.Phillip survived by stealing, using drugs and sometimes selling himself.At age 13, he was shot in gang crossfire and nearly died.Ray and Stella discovered him in the hospital and took him home.Due to their love and environment, he changed and thrived.He is now a successful advertising executive in Baltimore.He dresses well, drinks fine wines and eats healthy.During his three-day weekends, he handles administrative details, legal issues and paperwork for the brothers' boat building business, as well as some of the sweaty carpentry work.

Dr. Sybill Griffin has made a career out of the study of urban life and has published two books.She has degrees in anthropology, sociology and psychology.She comes to Chesapeake Bay to observe and study small town life for her next book.However, the reader soon learns that she chose Chesapeake Bay because of Seth.She purposely meets the brothers and finds that Phillip is attracted to her.She begins a relationship with him in order to be closer to and learn about Seth.Gloria (Seth's mother) returns to the area.Gloria has a bigger role in this book than in the previous two books.

Reviewer's Opinion:
This was ok, but I couldn't get into the characters.They were good as supporting characters in the Seth story and for the series, but the story about their relationship wasn't as good as I'd hoped.They each were wounded in the past in different ways.Now they are smooth and polished.I didn't see how they grew to love each other.They were sort of thrown together, and then they have sex because they are physically attracted to each other.The value of this book is learning about Gloria and seeing some of her actions.It finishes some of the unresolved issues from the first two books.So it's worthwhile in that way.

Story Brief with Mild Spoilers:
Seth is now about 28.Gloria began contacting him when he was a teen, threatening to hurt his family.He secretly has been paying her money to stay away.He spent several years in Europe to get away from her.But when he became a famous painter, she followed him to Europe.Since he couldn't avoid her and since he missed his family, he moves back to Chesapeake Bay.

Dru is the only child of a wealthy family in Washington D.C.Her fiancé cheated on her, and she moved to Chesapeake Bay to open a flower shop.She bought a house and loves living alone, with no domestic help.She likes the small town environment.Seth sees her and immediately falls for her.He wants to paint her.She is reluctant.He rents the space above her flower shop for his art studio.

Reviewer's Opinion:
The primary weakness was the two main characters were not interesting enough.There was not enough relationship development.I also felt it was too quick for Seth to ask her to marry him.The best parts of the book were the camaraderie, teasing, and conversations among the Quinn family members.That was entertaining and well done.

The major conflict in this story was regarding Gloria, Seth's horrible mother.The Gloria problem was resolved in Book 3.So I was unhappy to see that the author had to weaken Seth's character in order to reactivate Gloria's bad guy role.I did not enjoy seeing Seth wimp out and pay her blackmail money over fourteen years without telling his family.They stood up to her and scared her off before.They would have done it again.I wasn't happy with this plot.I enjoyed the first book the most.

I read all of these books separately before purchasing the book that contained all three books in the trilogy. This book contains the books Daring to Dream, Holding the Dream and Finding the Dream.I will read these books over and over again.

Fantastic Read!
I picked this book up in the local library just for some fun reading and became a fan. Currently I have been in love with J.D Robb series with Eve Dallas. I figured I would give Nora a chance in winning me over with some romance. I loved this book! I loved how at the very beginning something exciting jumps out to keep you on your toes! The book follows Catarina Hale over twenty years of romance, hardship, and the love of a great family. I simply could not get away from this book for three days! Thanks Nora for keeping me entertained!

You won't be able to put it down...
This is the first Nora Robert's book that I have read; it was passed on to me from a friend. I have to say that I was impressed and really enjoyed the book. I liked it so much that I had to pass it along to my sister. She loved it too.

A great romance laced with suspense. Even though I knew who the culprit was before Roberts revealed it she still keeps you guessing as to what is going to happen next. One sceen towards the end of the book is a little grafic so I don't know if it is suited for young readers but still a wonderful book. I would recomend it again.

Not a Roberts Fan - but this is good
I'm not a Roberts fan.I started reading her books as the result of a positive article about her in The New Yorker in 2009.

If you like her Silhouette novels, you can ignore this review.I got one of those compilation books and hated every one of the stories in it.I am, in case you haven't guessed, not a fan of romance novels.

I have, however, now read about a half-dozen of the Robb novels and a half-dozen of the "non-romance" novels.

To my mind, this book is the furthest that Roberts has moved from her Silhouette days (hints of which, to a greater or lesser degree, are present in all the other Roberts books that I have read, including the Robb books.)

Blue Smoke avoids most of the romance cliches.The characters are richly drawn, people you'd like to know. I could do without the serial killer plot - there's plenty to like in the book without that - and this is the one Roberts book I would recommend to somebody who, like me, has ignored her because of her "romance" reputation.

I'll give her another chance, but only one more
I wasthinking I'd really found an author I would be very happy with.But as the book progressed and the language got worse, and the dialogue became 50's B movie stuff and worst of all the graphic human torture made me sick to my stomach I knew I'd picked up the wrong book.I don't like graphic sex scenes, never have so I just skim over them.

I'm going to try another Roberts book because so many people adore her writing.But I'm going to read something else first so I can get this terrible book out of my head.

If most her books have as wonderful characters as she set up as parents and friends in this book I could become a Roberts fan.

Blue Smoke
Reena Hale learned at an early age what fire could do. She was a small child when she had to watch her family's' restaurant burn to the ground thus beginning her love/hate relationship with fire. As she grew up she devoured everything possible to expand her knowledge because she continued to be tortured to fire. In college, her boyfriend was burned to death, and this is just another event that directs her to her career as an arson investigator.

Renna feels content with her life when she becomes a member of the police department, and buys her first home. She is surprised when she meets neighbor Bo Goodnight to find out he has been trying to find her since college. He saw her at a party across the room and has been trying to find her since. As they grow closer and fall in love, Renna is horrified when Bo's life is threatened again with fire. As they investigate further, it is revealed that two of her other boyfriends were touched by fire, and it is all perpetrated by the same person.

I loved this story. It is definitely one of my favorite NR tales. The characters were phenomenal. Reena and Bo are a good match, but all the supporting characters were an important part - from her loud obnoxious loving family to the creepy villain. ... Read more

The MacGregor
In these stories, The MacGregor plays match maker to his grandson.As The MacGregor sets the stage for each match, none are suspecting, even down to the last.The Winning Hand and Perfect Neighbor take place between The MacGregor Brides and The MacGregor Grooms.Each story is strong enough to stand alone, though short.They are consecutive in the timeline.Each story has unique characters and it's own story line.

I loved it.
I love the MacGregor series, and this one was no exception. The wonderful short stories are satisfying. They don't fall too quickly in love. And of course I love the MacGregor's interference and meddling.
All in all, I seriously recommend this book.

"D.C."I liked this one.Well, except for The MacGregor's "wedded and bedded" phrase that makes me cringe every time he says it.Loved the reverse psychology Daniel used to get D.C. interested in Layna, and the scene when D.C. "rescues" Layna from Daniel's matchmaking.Much fun.

"Duncan".Now this is an ambitious heroine I can like.And the story fits well into the novella length without making me feel like something was left out.

"Ian".This one is About how what someone is thinking and what you think they're thinking can be vastly different things.Well, not completely, but it's certainly a theme throughout the story.

This is Diana's story.Caine's a nice guy, but he's just... there.He has no character arc.Also, I have trouble relating to Diana.Yeah, it's sad that she grew up with that nasty aunt and feeling that Justin had abandoned her, but I'm so impatient with characters who stay out of relationships for fear of being abandoned.Like love is so trivial you can just throw it away on the off chance it won't last?Bah.Nora's writing saved this one.

DIDN'T HOLD MY INTEREST---
My second Nora Robert's book and I was surprised to find it amateurish, repetitive, and very forgettable. It was like something my friends and I used to write in junior high; middle school to my kids. The ending did start to pick up the pace, but by then I had no interest in furthering my acquaintanceship with the MacGregor family. There was also quite a bit of Scotland's more brutal history in the story. Increasing one's knowledge is always good, but I wasn't in the mood for a history lesson. I did enjoy her JEWELS OF THE SUN book.

Absolutly no complaints
I started this series with this book, though I realize it was added later.And this is also the first Nora Roberts book I ever read, and needless to say, I am seriously addicted.It is well written, the charaters are strong, and after reading some of the other books of the series, completly fits in but still is strong enough to stand alone.

This was my first Nora Roberts book. I loved it.I enjoy historical romance so this may be the only Nora Roberts I read as it seems she writes alot in the present.But this was well worth my time.I was pleasently surprised.

I'll start of by admitting I'm not a huge Nora Roberts fan. I usually like romance novels with a lot of humor and quirky characters (think Julia Quinn and Eloisa James) or with mature and emphathetic characters (Mary Balogh).

"Rebellion" was pretty standard fare for the genre. I completely agree with an earlier reviewer who said that Brigham and Serena were fairly shallow characters. They both had interesting backgrounds and really should have been more intriguing. But almost every interaction between the two characters played to the overbearing male/tempestous female stereotype. He provokes her by being heavy handed, she responds by some small act of violence, he wrestles her to the ground... and we all know where this is going. It should be sexy, but I guess I've just read it too many times now.

Also, it baffles me that so many heroines in romance novels (which are mostly read by mature women) act like bratty 13-year-olds. I mean really, how many grown women act like this?

And is it really sexy when a man says, "You will marry me whether you like it or not"? I mean, I'm all for bodice-rippers (it's why I read romance novels, after all) but I prefer the alpha male attitude to be left in the bedroom. Or at least have some subtlety. I know, I know, we're talking about a different time period. But these books are read by contemporary readers. There are many authors out there who do a great job balancing historical reality with contemporary sensibilities (again, Quinn, James and Balogh are great).

So if you're a fan of any of those authors, I don't think "Rebellion" will be your cup of tea. It wasn't for me.

Wonderful collection!!!!
I had already read the Nora Roberts in another book, but the additional stories were absolutely wonderful. I am glad I bought the book. Now I want all of the Once Upon books!

A wonderful series of magical stories

In Dreams by Nora Roberts
Kayleen Brennan was on vacation in Ireland, exploring the countryside and hoping to find some goods for her family's antique store in the States. When out exploring, she gets caught in a bad storm. The enigmatic Flynn rescues her, and then her adventures really begin. He is cursed to spend eternity living only through his dreams, with one week every 100 years to truly live. He intends to make this week one to remember with Kayleen, hoping to convince her to be with him forever. She is drawn to him, but when she finds out his secret, will she be able to accept him for who, or what, he is?

This was another good story from a master, but has a tendency to get bogged down in details. Granted, the heroine is an antiques expert, but is it really necessary to go into so much detail about Flynn's furniture? Queen Anne this, Louis XV that, it is overdone and detracts from the story. Kayleen and Flynn make an interesting pair however, complementing each other in many ways. The story surrounding Flynn is intriguing, as to why he is condemned to the "life" he has. If one can get past the over-the-top detail in many places, this is a delightful story.

The Sorcerer's Daughter by Jill Gregory
Willow of Brinhaven's father, a powerful dream sorcerer, is imprisoned for angering the great sorceress Lisha. He is doomed to remain there for 100 years, unless Willow brings Lisha the Necklace of Nyssa, which is protected by the Trolls. He father vows to send out a dream to a protector for Willow on her quest, leading her through the Perilous Forest and Troll's Lair. But in error, the wrong person, Blaine of Kendrick, receives the dream. Blaine is known for causing trouble and his exploits with women, and he is the last person she should count on. But upon meeting, they are drawn to each other and eventually agree to go on the quest together. But the more they are together, the more Blaine wishes for a different quest, one to win the fair Willow's heart forever.

This was quite a fantasy tale, with trolls, sorcerers, and magic galore. It has a cute storyline, with details of Willow's quest, and the matching of wits between Blaine and Willow. Blaine is the typical "bad boy" of those days, and Willow is a young woman trying to overcome her position in life. The sparks between the two of them will light up the darkest of nights. There is also an interesting side story; the real reason Lisha imprisoned Willow's father.

The Enchantment by Ruth Ryan Langan
Annie Tyler is trying to make a real estate business for herself in Maine. Things are going fairly well, but she gets her break when Cordelia Sykes Carrington, one of the wealthiest women in the state, solicits Annie to sell her summer home. When Annie arrives, expecting to have the place to herself, she is surprised to find Ben Carrington, one of Cordelia's sons, show up as well. When they become trapped there together by a sudden storm, strange things begin to happen, with a lack of electricity keeping them cut off from the outside world. But even stranger is the fact that they are falling for each other. When the storm is over and things are back to normal, will they find their attraction is real, or just a dream?

This was an okay story, but probably the least favorite of this reviewer's in the collection. Too many things are far-fetched and unrealistic. Example, Isn't it rather strange that ALL the power in the house, all the phones, and their cell phones don't work, but the refrigerator works just fine? The point is made several times throughout how there was a power failure, but neither character thinks it odd that the refrigerator works when the stove doesn't. Some of these smaller details just confuse the story, distracting one from the love story between Ben and Annie.

The Bridge of Sighs by Marianne Willman
Claire is an American art appraiser, trying to overcome her recent divorce from her adventurous ex-husband, Val. She gets the chance of a lifetime when Count Ludovici of Venice, summons her from one of the oldest and richest families in the city, to inventory and appraise his extensive art collection. She can't resist the chance to return to Venice, where she was born, but left as a young child. Her ex-husband is also there, to photograph the artwork, much to Claire's dismay. Or is it? She still loves him but is convinced things will never work. When she starts having haunting dreams of a young girl, Bianca... a dream which fast becomes a nightmare, upon learning Bianca disappeared many years ago, believed to be murdered. Will Claire and Val learn to be together again, or are they truly meant to be apart? Who is the mysterious Bianca, and what happened that fateful night she disappeared?

This was probably the favorite story in the collection. Especially since this reviewer was reading it during her very own dream vacation in Venice! It was fun to be reading about the very sights being visited. The story in itself is well written, too. Claire is a bit lost; trying to find her place in her life after everything she thought she wanted falls apart. The addition of the sad story of Bianca, enhances the feel of the story, and makes Claire realize she needs to go after her own dreams if she ever wants to be truly happy.

All in all, this is a memorable collection. Each and every book in the "series" these four authors collaborate on is a delight, well worth the addition to any romance lover's library. One will want to make this addition to their "keeper" shelf!

A Delightful Anthology!
"Once Upon a Dream" is an enchanting anthology by four very talented romance authors.It's a nice, light read, and is wonderful for those days when you just need to relax!

The first story, "In Dreams" by Nora Roberts, is the best.Flynn has been sentenced to an eternity trapped in a half world of dreams, with only one week every century in which to live.Five hundred years into his sentence, when his week is just beginning, Kayleen Brennan, the dark-haired beauty who haunts his dreams, shows up at his door in the middle of a storm.Flynn brings her in and tends to her, and as the two spend time together, the ever-sensible Kayleen begins to see that there really is magic in the world.The romance these two share is both passionate and tender, and will surely warm readers' hearts.At the end of his week will Flynn trap Kayleen in his half world just to keep her with him, or does he love her enough to set her free?This is a highly original and magical tale, and I guarantee it will make you smile!

Next is "The Sorcerer's Daughter" by Jill Gregory, my second favourite story in this anthology.Willow's father, Artemus the sorcerer, has been imprisoned by the powerful sorceress Lisha.The only way to set him free is the retrieve the fabled Necklace of Nyssa and give it to Lisha, so Willow embarks on a highly dangerous journey to find the necklace.Concerned about his daughter and her journey through the "Perilous Forest", Artemus weaves a spell that is supposed to send and old friend to Willow's aid, but instead sends the infamous rogue Blaine of Kendrick, who's out to get the necklace for himself.This is a lovely, fanciful tale and it is sure to please readers.

Third is "The Enchantment" by Ruth Ryan Langan.Annie of Tyler Real Estate has just been given the opportunity of a lifetime when she is asked to sell the Carrington estate in Maine.She travels to the mysterious, deserted estate to check it out, just as Ben Carrington arrives to take one last look at his family home.With a little help from a ghostly presence, Annie and Ben get to know each other on borrowed time, and discover the enchantment of true love.This is an enjoyable and entertaining tale about taking the time for what's really important in life.

Finally is "The Bridge of Sighs" by Marianne Willman, which is the weakest story in the anthology, but is still worth reading.Claire of San Francisco's "Sterling Galleries" travels to Venice to appraise a very special art collection.In Venice, Claire runs into her ex-husband Val everywhere she goes and begins to wonder if she could fix what went wrong between them.Claire is also haunted by dreams of a troubled young woman from the past, and is determined to uncover the truth regarding her fate.This is a lovely story about righting the wrongs of the past in order to create a bright future.The plot of this story was a little weak, as were the characters, but that didn't stop me from reading and enjoying it.

Overall, "Once Upon a Dream" is a wonderful anthology filled with magic and love.Each of the four authors has created an intriguing, fanciful, and original story that will leave you satisfied and happy.So read this book today!

I think I can get used to these!
This is my first time reading an anthology of novellas. Since each story is less than 100 pages long, all my complaints are baically centered around their shortness.

There was a definate lack of character development in most of the stories, but my main complaint is the lack of growing love. The characters in Nora Robert's "In Dreams," Jill Gregory's "The Sorcerer's Daughter," and Ruth Ryan Langstan's "The Enchantment" all fall in love in less than a week. Marianne Willman's "Bridge of Sighs" involves a recently divorced couple dealing with the problems that caused the divorce, so they of course had more of a history.

One of my favorite things about romance novels is that you see the character's love grow and their personalties evolve, but this of course cannot be done in less than 100 pages. However, all the stories were delightful, and a good deversion to read separately at different times, so not to be overwhelmed by their shortness. Definatelty a fun read when you have an hour or two to just relax and lose yourself in the world of dreams. ... Read more

Love Nora Roberts books
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.It arrived promptly and was in excellent condition.

A tale that spans a lifetime.......
Whew!!! What a journey this book took me on! Capping out at almost 500 pages, this book is definitely a commitment, but one that is satisfying and unique.

The plot was new to me. The characters were magicians/thieves. I have never read a romance novel that centered around these "talents" and I was riveted page after page just as I am in real life where magic is concerned. It also contains "heist" plots. Max, Roxie, and Luke are accomplished and professional thieves, and I was reminded of one of my favorite movies, The Italian Job, as I read his book.

The romance between Luke and Roxanne is ONE of the books plots.....but it's certainly not the main plot line. This was also new to me as most of the romance novels I read focus exclusively on the main couple. Honest Illusions takes us on a journey through the characters entire lives. Broken up into three parts, part one focuses on Luke and Roxie's childhood, part two focuses on their adolescence and romance, and part three focuses on their adult years.

This is a story of a family as much as it is about a couple. It deals with heartache, healing, and all the places in between. I strongly recommend it.

NOT REALLY A ROMANCE---
This was more of a saga about a family of famous magicians, who were also accomplished thieves. (Hard to root for the bad guys.) It mainly consisted of EXTREMELY detailed accounts of their trials, tribulations and heartaches. It had a few enjoyable moments but was drawn out WAY too long.

Definitely Not Her Best
I have to admit, this is the first Nora Roberts book that I've read that I can say I didn't like. I truely don't see how it has gotten all the four and five star ratings. Nora is one of my favorite authors. However, this book was long and drawn out with what I consider to be tidiuos details. Chapter after chapter of character background. There was nothing to keep your need to read going. You could start in the middle of the book and not really miss anything.

I also agree with a couple of the the other reviewers. It's pretty hard to fall in love with characters who are theives. They don't even need to be theives, they just are because they enjoy stealing. I also hate it when authors use the "woman gets pregnant, and for whatever reason the guy leaves without knowing it, so the woman gets angry and doesn't tell him he has a child when he finally reappears" plot in their stories. When that came to be in this book, I almost tossed it in the garbage. If it hadn't been a Nora Roberts book, I would have. I read romance books because I enjoy reading about good characters and rooting for their happiness in the end. It should leave you smiling. This one left me wondering how much longer till it's over.

written a quarter of a century ago, back when Nora Roberts was still learning how to write.Opposites Attract is as hackneyed and formulaic as the worst Harlequin ever written and gets no stars whatsoever.A Will and A Way has hints of the humor that Nora Roberts will get so good at, but there's no depth.Don't waste your money especially since there are so many great Nora Roberts books from after she hit her stride as America's greatest romance author.

Classic Nora Roberts!
When I picked up this book, I thought "Hooray!" I finally have all of Nora's books. But I'd been mistaken. I'd read both before, both are in separate omnibuses, but that's okay, LOL! I loved them both anyway and read them again. I'm missing "Promise Me Tomorrow."

Opposites Attract

Married and recently divorced, Asher Wolfe is back on the tennis circuit. And she plans to win it all. She'd left suddenly 3 years before, and after having announced her retirement, her father/mentor, refused to speak to her. A loveless marriage ends in divorce and now Asher wants to conquer the tennis world once again. One thing - she has to learn to block her heart from Ty Starbuck - and she better learn fast.

Ty knows Asher's back, and he plans on cornering her. Three years ago, she left without even saying goodbye, without leaving a note. He thought she loved him. **Incredible! The intensity you can feel between them is palpable to say the least, love scenes making the reader hot under the collar! Descriptions put you right there with the couple, right there in the middle of all tennis matches, won or lossed. Different places and settings, you can't help getting swept away with the story.

A Will and a Way

After the death of their uncle, the will is read before the entire family. Even from the grave, Uncle Jolley is having the last laugh. He gave the meaningless things to his son, to the rest of the family. But to Pandora and Michael, he left the "rest of his estate, in entirety, all accounts, all business interests, all stocks, bonds and trusts, all real and personal property with all affection. Share and share alike... I ask only one thing of each of them in return. Beginning no more than a week after the reading of this document, Pandora and Michael will move into my home, Jolley's Folley. **I loved this one, even the first time I read it. The way they fought their attraction to each other, the way they irritated each other, the way the defended and fought for each other, and the sweetest things Michael does for Pandora ... *sigh*A wonderful love story together with mystery and suspense, all wrapped with Nora's writing style and descriptions, you can't ask for a better story.

The book arrived in a timely manner.It was not in as good of condition as I expected.
The sale ad did not make it clear that the book was a large hard-cover book.I expected the trilogy as three books.

Dream series
I LOVE this Irish series, it is the best! I never wanted it to end, that's the truth!

You can never go wrong with a Nora Roberts romance novel and this is just one more great one in the list.

Nora Roberts does it again!
Nora Roberts has a wonderful way of making you feel as though you know the characters in her series book.You just can't wait to see what the next chapter brings. She has a way of writing that you feel as if you know exactly where the story takes place, you laugh, cry and worry right along with each character.

Great reading as always.

3 in 1...what a deal!!!
It's great when one of your best friends just happens to own a book shop. I found this trilogy of Nora's in the book shop and got a great deal on it. I think my favorite was Finding The Dream, with Laura Templeton & Michael Fury, probably because he's the handsome, dangerous type of guy that every woman wants to fall in love with.And he struggled to be good enough for where hefinally ended up. And she was so level-headed in so many ways, except the creep of a husband she was married to. Laura struggles with her two daughters after she divorces their father, with the oldest blaming Laura for his departure. Kids can be so cruel when they don't understand. The story just took me to tears at times. Then too, I really enjoyed Daring to Dream with Margo and Josh Templeton. She finds out about her mother's one and only love, Margo's father, and Margo regains a relationship with her mother that she'd felt was lost. Margo is the beautiful, well-built woman that every man dreams about, but she's a wild child that Josh Templeton has long been waiting for to return home. The dialogue is great, both witty and warm at the same time. Margo is nearly bankrupt when she returns to Templeton House, but finds her roots again, not only with starting a new business, but also with her mother. Josh was my second favorite of the men in this trilogy. He's so cool.
And then there's Holding The Dream with Kate and Byron. This story was okay, but not nearly the page-turner that the other two were. But Kate is an altogether different type of woman than Laura and Margo. It's the bond that holds them together as sisters, even though they aren't, that I really found endearing. Great Book!
I loved this book.This is on that I will most likely read again if I dont have a new book.I love to scan over books that I have already read, and go over my favorite parts.This was one of them.

Nora Roberts Fan
If your a Big Nora Roberts Fan like I am then you will enjoy this book, it's part of her Night Tales collection,(I suggest you read each one) I'm not going to give away any of the story it's up to you to read but this book and the other books in the collection you will not be dissapointed, If you want Romance and Mystery you will get it in this book, I was not dissapointed at all and if a book can keep me engrossed in it for as long as this did then i give it an A+. I couldn't put it down after i started reading it.
So If your looking for a good Book, then Please try this one and the rest of the collection of the Night Tales collections, Also check out her Other collections.

Night Shadow
I have all the books in the "Death" series and they are great.I also have many of Nora Roberts other books which are also very good.Night Shift was an easy, entertaining read.However, I did not especially care for Night Shadow. It seemed as though the characters were "borrowed" from the JD Robb, In Death, books.There is Gage who is very wealthy and handsome as is Roarke.Gage owns a ton of high end real estate as does Roarke. Gage has the ability to hack into systems (IRS, etc.) illegally, as does Roarke.Gage's "Majordomo" is Patrick and Roarke's is Summerset.

Too short for closure; not Roberts' best
I liked "Night Shadow" better than "Night Shift," but both of these were shorter than they could have been and I would have liked. Just didn't feel there was enough time to get through all the plot points. The characters seemed more "real" and were more likeable in "Night Shadow." ... Read more

Nora Roberts is great
I have only been reading Nora Roberts for about a year now. She is becoming one of my favorites. I look forward to reading more books by her. She brings her characters alive for the reader. I love how she intertwines the lives of the sisters in this book.

great story--read the entire book in one day!!
I just bought this book yesterday and finished it last nite.I really like
Nora Roberts style.The romance, the mysteries, and especially the settings for
each story.A must read.I will reread it again very soon I am sure.
Each story takes you to a new location, new characters, and more.You just don't want to quit reading it.What a way to pass away the time!!

Fooled Again!
Like many of Ms Roberts recent "book releases" this book simply has three of her old books repackaged as new.Fortunately the Amazon listing is fairly open about this but it can get CONFUSING if you don't know what you are are looking for!

There is a book on Amazon now that helps you keep all of Nora Roberts books straight including an omnibus guide (tells which books contain which stories), a series guide where you will never be confused about a Nora Roberts series order or how many books are in the series, the COMPLETE list of all Nora Roberts book (next to impossible to find, even on Nora Robert's own website!)as well as a JD Robb booklist and guide.

I can't seem to tell enough people about this guide!It is called the Complete Nora Roberts Book List and Series Guide and is available on Amazon.I have found it to be IRREPLACABLE and it has saved me a TON of time!I no longer buy multiple copies of a book (because I forgot which one I read) and it helps me start new series with the knowledge of which series I am reading and in which order the books go it.I highly recommend this book so you never have to be fooled again by a repackaged Nora Roberts book that is nothing more than old stories polished off.

Mysterious: This Magic Moment/Search for Love/ The Right Path
Again Nora Roberts has taken us for a wonderful adventure. I enjoy most all her writings.

My first Nora Roberts read
I thoroughly enjoyed all three of these stories. Maybe I'm easily pleased, because this is the first time that I have read anything from Nora Roberts. However, I found all three stories completely engaging; the story lines were enthralling, and I could not put them down until I finished them. Now I am hooked to reading more of this wonderful story-telling... if the other comments indicate anything, I am surely going to enjoy being a NR fan!

Not So Mysterious, but Still Good
Mysterious is a reissue of three older books Nora Roberts wrote in the 80's. While not her best, the first two are pretty good and the last one is just okay.

Their feelings and actions ring true to who they are and their story is more then completely satisfying. You almost don't want it to end, you get to love these characters so much. Link and Bess are two enchanting secondary characters that I would have enjoyed reading about in their own book, but I enjoyed the way it turned out. Nora Roberts weaves her magic in this tale written in the '80's that still feels modern and not at all dated. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend any Nora fan to see for themselves and enjoy the magic!

Search for Love

Search for Love is about Serenity Smith, a woman who has just lost her parents, then travels from Washington D.C. to France to meet with her grandmother, whom she'd never known. There she meets Christophe de Kergallen, the Count of Kergallen, whose grandfather married Serenity's grandmother after they were both widowed with children.

While Serenity is a fiery, vibrant, stubborn woman, Christophe is an icy, arrogant, and equally stubborn man. Serenity's independence and spunk makes her a fine heroine who you'll love, Christophe on the other hand can be hard to deal with, you'll either love him or hate him. At times you want to smack this hero with how smug and overbearing he can be and you can feel the frustration Serenity feels while dealing with Christophe. But through the story sparks fly as these two try to deny the passion they feel for one another. The secondary characters are great and I hope to see them in another book or two.

Though this story is quite different from Nora Roberts usual tales, it still packs quite a punch and you can see how diverse she is in her talent. This is more a gothic tale than any of her others I have read. As a gothic tale, it is one of the best, as a Nora Roberts, while not her best, it is a very solid tale that is timeless. It may not be for everyone, but I'd say give it a try!

The Right Path

The Right Path tells you the tale of Morgan James, who is visits her friend in Greece while on vacation, and Nicholas Gregoras, a secretive man that lives there. While this is a okay story, it is far from Nora Roberts best. I found the characters lacking, they seemed to be one-dimensional to me, more Nicholas than Morgan but not by much. At times I found my attention wandering from the book and had to get my focus back in on it. Usually N.R.'s books' keep me riveted page by page. I think the main thing was that you didn't see how they fell in love, what made them love each other. You could see they had passion, but you didn't really get to know them all that much. The plot was good and it worked out nicely, I just wish there had been better main characters, or at least that they weren't so flat.

Not to bad . . . .
Every now and then I like to pick up a fantasy book and this time around I read this one. It wasn't horrible by any means but it wasn't the greatest either. It kept me entertained for the most part and that's what counts. As with other books with short stories written by different authors some of the stories are better than others, but all in all it wasn't to bad.

better than a soporific....
After trying two stories in this book (Nora Roberts and Jill Gregory's) and falling asleep through both several times every time I tried to read this I just gave up. The writing wasn't bad per se, just SO boring as to be pointless. Nothing new, exciting or original in any way. Hackneyed and formulaic.I disagree with the other reviewers-I HAVE seen Nora Roberts write better than this.Unless you are having trouble sleeping -then I'd suggest skipping this mundane book.

Wonderful collection of stories
I had already read the Nora Roberts Spellbound in another book, but the additional stories were absolutely wonderful. I am glad I bought the book. Now I want all of the Once Upon books!

Zero Substance
These stories are all ridiculous fantasy that center around witches, goblins, werewolves and mirrors. To enjoy these short stories you'll need to suspend reality for quite some time. They wouldn't be that bad if the writing was quality, but it really isn't. Each author only has about 40-50 pages of writing so there obviously isn't a lot going on in terms of character development, believability, and storyline. The stories were a bad trip to fantasyland and should be in the sci-fi section and not romance. Don't waste your time, especially with the latter two stories. Don't listen to the audio version!!
I'm writing this review for anyone who might be thinking about listening to the audio version.It is the worst audiobook to which I've listened! The reader poorly conveyed emotion of the characters in conversation, sometimes, I think, messing up what was actually being said. What was worse was trying to figure out who was actually speaking since all characters had the same accent, voice, and expression.I'm really disappointed that I didn't actually read this book...I think it would have been a decent suspense read!

A beautiful Roberts novel.
Sweet, shy and slightly broken/psychic Victoria "Tory" Bodeen has made the decision to return to her hometown of Progress, South Carolina. Abused as a child by her father, Tory knows that returning to her hometown will be difficult. After all, her parents are outcasts and no one, not even the Lavelle's, ever understood Tory's relationship with prominent, wealthy and now deceased Hope. Coupled with that, Tory was blamed when her visions lead them to discover Hope raped and murdered in the swamp. Unfortunately, Tory's psychic visions never allowed her to see Hope's killer.Wanting more for herself and to escape the abuse of her father, Tory leaves Progress briefly and uses her "powers" for good (to locate missing children) until her heart is broken by a careless man. Wanting to find closure on her past, yet filled with hope for the future she returns to Progress to open a shop and discover who killed her childhood friend. With Tory's return, the Lavelle's lives are turned upside down. Cade (Hope's surviving brother) and Faith (Hope's surviving twin) each have definite ideas about what Tory means to them, one is falling in love with her while the other harbors animosity and jealousy about their relationship (Hope and Tory's). There are town gossips, a loving grandmother (who regretsthe decisions her child has made, picking her abusive husband over her daughter), a sweet uncle (JR), Cade's zany Aunt Rosie (who shoplifts), Wade's caring mother (who only wants her son's happiness), a vengeful mother (Margaret), a loving housekeeper (Lilah) and town snobs. What I enjoyed the most about this dark, suspense story was Robert's ability to allow Tory to flourish and overcome her background. Although the odds were against her, in the end, she found true love and happiness. And while the story ended abruptly (we all could have had just a little more), I knew that Tory and Cade would live happily ever after because what had been broken in them both was now repaired. And finally what I really liked about this book, as I do so many other Robert's novels, is her ability to take a tragic story of lost innocence, betrayal and murder, and weave a decent story that leads to redemption. I really enjoyed Carolina Moon and would recommend it to any Nora Roberts lovers out there.

Last few pages ruined story.
All the way through, the book was really good. I LOVE the name Kincade Lavelle. And I really liked all of the characters, especially Faith. There always seem to be great secondary characters in Roberts' books (Like Farley in Black Hills). The plot was good and so was the romance. I was very satisifed as the very end of the book neared.
But in the last few pages, when you find out who the REAL murdering creep was, it ruined everything. when the identity of Hope's real murderer is tossed at you in like the last four pages, it isn't clever, it isn't good. This overall good story was ruined and left me very disappointed. There were no good clues leading up to make you believe he really was the killer. Roberts just kind of put him there, I suppose as like a final twist. Well, it stunk because it's unbelievable. Not even a spectacular kind of unbelievable, it was stupid. Completely stupid.

The characters in this story are so strong and well developed. Tory and Cade are wonderful, but so are the supporting characters like Wade and Faith. The romance is to die for, and the mystery will draw you in and keep you guessing until the very end.

continuity
I really enjoyed finishing up with the royal family.It's not Roberts best work but it held my attention and I enjoy the continuity of stories about the whole family.It completes the royal families story.However, they are really good and I'm sure I will read them again.No one spins a romance like Roberts.It's a feel good book and that's what I'm after.

Royal Kingdom of Dreams
To me, Cordina's Royal Family is the best of Nora Robert's series.I have read other of her series, but none have the magic that I found in the Royal Cordina Family.I loved each character: Bennett, Camilla, Alex, Eve, Gabriella, Hannah and Reeves.Somehow this series stirs the fairy tale mystery that exists in all of us.I really wish Ms. Roberts would continue with the Cordina family series.As a talented and skillful author, she shouldbe able to find a way!What about Bennet and Hannah"s wedding?To me, that would be wonderful to read! I want more of that wonderful family!

hopless romantics will love it.
If you are a hopeless romantic, like stories about princes and princesses and love a classic ending. Then you will enjoy this book.I really like the fact that Hannah was a heroine but Bennett also took some credit. Very entertaining.

Where's the Juice?
Based on the recent recommendation by a Stephen King article in Entertainment Weekly, I purchased this book expecting to read some really good romance writing. The writing lack depth, dimension, and offered zero emotional skill, and after struggling through the first 100 pages, I threw the book away.So much for Stephen King's opinion - although he's written so really good things, he's also put out a lot of mediorce work too. If you want somejuicy romance as well as good storytelling, read Susan Carroll's "The Dark Queen", The Courtesan" and "The Silver Rose"
Trilogy.Once I read these I went back and purchased Carroll's earlier works, all with underserved tacky covers I might add, but the writing is fun and her heroes are "broad shouldered with powerful thighs and sensuous mouths" etc.Diane Galbaldon (could be incorrect spelling) writes well with very interesting characters and story lines but too sexually violent for my taste. ... A Good Read
A bit of suspense and lots of Romance, this is a good book to snuggle with. It's the first Nora Roberts novel I've read, and let me tell you, this author has talent, maybe because she creates intersting characters or maybe it's the way she structures her sentences that make the story come alive. Anyway, it's an entertaining, quick read.

And did you know there's an unabridged audio version? I'll be listening to that next (the narrator sounds perfect!)

A Juicy Love Story
A journalist falls in love with the woman who is the subject of a story she's been assigned to write.You'll read this book quickly despite the large size.

Beauty is Skin Deep, Or Is It?
Skin Deep was the first book I read involving the flamboyant O'Hurley family (my second favorite family created by Nora Roberts - the O'Hurley's place right after the MacGregors). I was so enthralled with this story that I read it in one sitting and enjoyed every minute of it! In fact, I immediately set about trying to find one of the other books with these characters (Without a Trace and The Last Honest Woman are a couple of the other ones).

Chantel O'Hurley had once been a member of the O'Hurley Dancing Triplets until she left the family act and started out on her own, much to her father's regret. But Chantel had done well for herself; after all she was a blonde bombshell and used those fantastic looks and her immense talent to get where she wanted to be: The big screen. Chantel O'Hurley was famous and had reached many of the goals she set for herself. Just when she reached the apex, she started being stalked by an obsessive fan and felt as if her life was in danger. Also fearing for her safety, the studios she was contracted with made her hire a private investigator/body guard. (Ok, so you can probably see where this is heading, right?)

Quinn Doran enters the picture as that private investigator with a tough guy attitude and enough good looks to make Chantel stop and take notice. What neither of them wanted was the mutual attraction that sparked and continued to grow no matter what they did to stop it.

The romantic side of this tale is stronger than the mystery portion, but Nora Roberts douses the reading audience with humor just to round things out a bit. Chantel isn't anyone's dumb blonde and can hold her own in a battle of wits with Quinn, as shown several times during this tale. Chantel's father, Frank, makes a candid appearance just to stir things up a bit and let the reader understand where Chantel gets her spunk. It's a fast paced, fun, well-rounded book that can be enjoyed in an afternoon or weekend if you want to stretch out the enjoyment.

The plot is somewhat predictable, but that doesn't deter from the overall book, as there is enough humor and mystery thrown in the mix of things to make up for the predictability. One thing Skin Deep does show is that Nora Roberts can write a melting pot type book - one with a touch of everything so most can enjoy the story. Her characters are well developed and the settings are very descriptive, right down to the dance step that Frank demonstrates to his captive audience.

If you haven't been introduced to the O'Hurley family, I strongly suggest that you pick this book up and begin your journey. You won't be sorry you did!

entertaining read
When Chatel, a big Hollywood movie star begins to receive obsessive phone calls and letters, she hires Quinn, the five hundred a day bodyguard.He is watching out for her while the staker gets closer and closer,the heat between them turns red hot. This book was a fast and entertaining read.Not the best by Nora but not the worse by far.This is the third book in the O'Hurley series.I would recommend this book because it is a very fast read.

Another visit with the O'Hurley family!
This is the third book in the O'Hurley series and my least favorite so far.Although there certainly was a love story between Chantel O'Hurley Hollywood actress and Quinn Doran the man hired to protect her, the wasn't the type of book by Roberts which I most enjoy.As I often say, I really love Nora Roberts' pure romance books, not the romantic suspense titles.Having said what I did, though, this is still an entertaining read.

When Chantal receives obsessive phone calls, flowers and notes her agent hires private investigator Quinn who is quite a good looking man.At first there's the usual cat and mouse games between Chantal and Quinn, as she doesn't think he's necessary to protect her and he stubbornly refuses to leave.Clearly there is an attraction between the two of them which both denies and they continue to resist these urges even though it's clear to everyone else something is brewing.As usual there's the standard Nora Roberts reunion of the O'Hurley family as first sister Abby who is now pregnant arrives with her second husband (The Last Honest Woman) and then their parents Frank and Molly arrive for sister Maddy's wedding (Dance to the Piper).But once the family wedding is over,Chantel must reveal a long held secret that none of Quinn's snooping has unearthed and one which may forever change their relationship.As romance readers and Nora Roberts fans know there always must be a happily ever after ending.Quinn eventually finds the stalker, but not before Chantel's life is in danger, and finally Quinn and Chantel are able to pledge their devotion and love to one another.

I imagine that those readers who enjoy the romantic suspense genre will find this book a most enjoyable read. ... Read more

Night Tales
I don't know what it is about this series, but all the females in these Night stories are such snots. They're rude, conceited, snotty, and unlikeable. What do these guys see in them? I liked Ryan a lot, he was so sexy and mysterious, but Natalie was an outright biotch to him. She needed a serious attitude adjustment. I couldn't stand how she talked to him like she was so much better than him.

Great reading
Both stories in this book are well written and hold your attention.I had trouble putting the book down.

Night Tales/ Night shade / night smoke
This was a wonderful seriesby Nora Roberts.She is an exceptional writer, takes you into the books for a wonderful adventure.

Disappointing series from Roberts
More like 1 1/2 stars.

First of all, I know this is a really minor thing, but the title "Nightshade" annoyed me, because it was just the guys' last name rather than something related to the story like the other stories, which I just felt was a cop-out. Other than that, "Nightshade" was pretty good; the investigation into the prostitution ring and Althea's past was interesting, and Althea and Colt were funny together at times. However, as I've said about the other books in the series, they're just too short to include both a complete and thrilling suspense and romance at the same time, and both tend to suffer as a result. I liked the premise of "Night Smoke," because I find arson investigators very interesting, but the heroine was just stupid and annoying. When someone tells you that there's a fire and to run and call 911, you listen to them. Also, the end was just wrapped up too neat, with the bad guy turning himself in and all. Overall, although I had higher hopes for "Night Smoke," I ended up liking "Nightshade" better. That being said, I enjoyed Night Tales: Night Shift & Night Shadow best of the series, and I wouldn't recommend this to readers other than hardcore Nora Roberts fans.Try Blue Smoke or Born O'Hurley (The Last Honest Woman / Dance to the Piper) for the best of Nora Roberts. ...
