Extractions: Robeson Jr., scholar, activist, to be at Stetson DELAND Paul Robeson Jr., the son of legendary actor, singer, scholar and activist Paul Robeson, will lecture next week at Stetson University. Robeson Jr. will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Stetson Room of the Carlton Union Building, on the Stetson campus, 131 E. Minnesota Ave. The program is part of the Spring 2003 Howard Thurman Lecture Series at Stetson. Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, call (386) 822-8920. Robeson is a freelance journalist, translator and lecturer on American and Russian history (he attended school as a child for a time in Moscow). He also is the author of a book on his father titled "The Undiscovered Paul Robeson: An Artist's Journey, 1898-1939," which was published in 2001. In the book's preface, Robeson says part of the reason he wrote the biography was to dispel "the media-nurtured myth that his (father's) political persecution stemmed from a 'love affair' with communism, or that he was 'duped' by Russian or American communists." Instead, Robeson writes, "the reason for his banishment from the nation's public life lies in his relentless challenge not only to anti-black stereotypes but also to the cultural foundations of American racism."

Extractions: Home About Contact Design ... Pricing The idea of clean, tasteful, no-nonsense design is at the core of our philosophy. There's no mystery to it. But there's also no quick solution to creating a good 'look-and-feel' for a web site. The issues that affect a site's design need to be spelled out. Who will be browsing the site? Who will need to use the site? Will it be just a 'storefront'? Or will there be business transacting behind the scenes? The answers to these questions determine where the time spent building a site is invested. And, when a tight budget is involved, as it often is, knowing where to spend time and money is as good as saving time and money. Tech-Space provides design services encompassing all the hottest design techology: F lash, D HTML, and general photo-graphic V oodoo. For a nice show and tell, check out samples from our portfolio: For composer and 2000 Pulitzer Prize winner, Lewis Spratlan , publishing is a largely self-directed business. He wanted a simple, elegant site, with a bio, links to news articles on his work, and a detailed list of his music published by the venerable G. Schirmer, Inc. But most of all, he needed an avenue of growth for his own publishing business. He is among the many successful artists and writers turning to the web to increase their exposure and lower their costs. Ed-Invest.com
