Good service, but I have a suggestion.
I ordered two copies of 'Little Preludes and Fugues" and received one of them very quickly.The invoice didn't indicate that a second copy would be sent later, and because they only charged me for one copy, and I'd ordered two copies so I'd have an extra, I decided not contact the seller.I was pleased when the second copy arrived a while later, but it would've been nice to have had that information.The transaction went smoothly, the books arrived in perfect condition, and I would do business with this seller again. ... Delightful discovery!
I have had this book on my shelf for several years and had never read it.It's wonderful!I can't wait to read more of her books and to introduce them to my piano students.What an excellent presentation!And then to discover that she comes from the same town I live in was quite a nice surprise.

It is next to impossible to cover the mighty legacy of JohannSebastian Bach's keyboard works adequately with one compact disc and30-odd pages of text. Because of this limitation, this entry in theBlack Dog Music Library's collection of classical music can't offermuch more than a perfunctory introduction to the work. Still, itincludes some of Bach's most deservedly famous works for organ andharpsichord and introduces the beginner to the great composer's life,music, and family, as well as to five well-known performers. One mightfault EMI and Black Dog for some of the recordings here (evidently,EMI's back catalog is somewhat thinner in this repertoire than in someof the other classical music basics). Maria Tipo is a fine pianist,but a modern grand piano does not really present Bach's music as itought to be heard; Albert Schweitzer was a great humanitarian andhelped boost the presentation of Bach earlier in this century, but hewas not a full-time musician and not as precise in his playing as onemight have hoped; Wanda Landowska was a truly phenomenal artist, butthis recording was made in 1936, and the technology was, by today'sstandards, decidedly primitive. Nonetheless, this book and CD providea good overview and sample of works from which to proceed on tofurther exploration. The text is less but the CD more?
Johann Sebastian Bach might be called the father of modern western music.
He made the keyboard instrument a viable form
and with his sons/ family really started a school of composition
and music theory in a German image.
The book actually doesn't go into the text detail I would have liked,
but the depth of the CD with some great artists that I wasn't at all familiar with, made up for that. I was actually hoping for more scores
and analysis of style in composition. ... Read more
