2-0 out of 5 stars Unfinished
The chapters in this collection, each of which comprises a separate 'episode', read more like treatments or outlines rather than fully-realized stories. With the exception of the opening segment which, interestingly, picks up immediately after the events in final aired episode of Star Trek's original series ("Turnabout Intruder"), each story leaves one wanting for expository text or some sense of closure. Many questions are raised, but few are answered. Questions such as "Why is Captain Kirk behaving so oddly?", "Did the author run out of time?" and "Where's the rest of this?"

References to classic original series clichés are dutifully repeated in nearly every chapter. A Red Shirt will always be killed and Dr. McCoy will always state "He's dead, Jim." One mention of each of these in the collection would have been humorous, but one in each chapter comes across as satirical and disrespectful of the material.

The artwork ranges from interesting and appealing to awkward and childish. Some manga art has an intentional awkward childishness to it, but one gets the sense the art here is unintentionally so.

Overall, these stories feel like proofs of concept and not completed work. There's just enough here to make the volume worthwhile for fans, though they're likely to to be left unsatisfied.

4-0 out of 5 stars Binding problems.
It was a good comic book but several of the pages fell out due to poor binding. Still a good story.

3-0 out of 5 stars Year Four Comic Review
I can really only give this comic three stars. At times the artwork is brilliant and at other times it's very simplistic. The writing is weak and relies on cliche. I've read other comics of this Genre by IDW and they were a lot better and the art was more consistant. I have to say that some of the art reminds me of the things I used to post at some of the Trek Forums. Looking forward to the Mirror Universe comic.

Keep on Trekkin!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great addition for original Star Trek fans
Warning: A few spoilers ahead...

This graphic novel is terrific for fans of the original Star Trek series. After a brief foreward, it contains multiple stories, including one story about dilithium with some references to today's politics on energy. The characters include Arex and M'Ress from Star Trek: The Animated Series. The artistry is well done.If you are a Star Trek fan of any era, it is definitely worth buying...

5-0 out of 5 stars Captures The Essence Of Star Trek Perfectly
This is a great book. It really has the characterizations down pat. From McCoy saying "He's dead Jim" many times to the banter between Kirk, Spock and Bones, these stories have the feel of left-over scripts from the original series. The art is somewhat cartoony at times but it works. There is one instant classic panel which shows Kirk in his melodramatic pose of being in pain from an unseen force that will incite instant laughter from any fan of the show. The word balloons even have the emphasis on certain words in Kirk's dialogue to incorporate the immortal melodramatic cadence of William Shatner. Buy this book now, you'll love it. 5 stars. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Summary of Roadmap To Restructuring
A tremendous amount has been written about school restructuring during the past half-dozen years. Writers and researchers have investigated, discussed, and debated the need and rationale for change in publiceducation, the various strategies being attempted, their relativeeffectiveness, and the difficulty of bringing about change in publicschools.

This wealth of information has not been easily available topractitioners. It is widely dispersed in journals, papers, and unpublished,hard-to-find documents. When school people begin to consider restructuring,it is not easy for them to assemble the resources that might aid theirdiscussions and decisions.

This book is designed to help address thisneed, at least in part. It is an attempt to assemble many of the salientworks on school restructuring that have appeared in print since discussionson the topic began in earnest in the mid-1980s. But this book goes beyondsimply summarizing the writing in this area. Its goal is to provide aconceptual framework within which restructuring activities and processescan be considered; to provoke thinking, discussion, and questions regardingrestructuring; and to enable readers to go beyond this text to many othersources that will deepen their understanding of ideas presented here.

Thebook draws from more than 600 sources across a wide spectrum ofperspectives and beliefs regarding restructuring. It incorporates andbuilds upon several of my earlier works on this topic, along withinformation I gleaned from discussions and interviews with practitioners.Additional insights have come from my role as a school restructuringconsultant, as a site facilitator for nine schools participating in a U.S.Department of Education grant designed to enable schools to take the"next step" in restructuring, and more recently as director of aproject that works with 30 high schools to develop proficiency-basedcollege admission standards for Oregon's public colleges and universities.

This book provides a picture of many of the trends and issues in schoolrestructuring and attempts to place these issues into a context that helpsexplain where schools have come from and where they might be going. Thebook is designed to serve as a tool to help faculties develop their visionof school restructuring and their strategies for pursuing the process ofrestructuring. It might also be used profitably as a resource forprincipals, administrators, and boards of education who are trying tounderstand in greater detail this concept and its implications.

My goalin writing this book is to help educators, community members, andpolicy-makers understand more clearly why many educators are trying torestructure education, what people may mean when they talk aboutrestructuring, what a few select schools are doing, and how the process ofattempting fundamental change in education is being played out.

I hopethat this book will enable the reader to have a more informed opinion onschool restructuring, and to be more aware of the causes, issues, techniques, and strategies that are associated with this movement.

Product Description
This is a AIR FORCE INST OF TECH WRIGHT-PATTERSONAFB OH report procured by the Pentagon and made available for public release. It has been reproduced in the best form available to the Pentagon. It is not spiral-bound, but rather assembled with Velobinding in a soft, white linen cover. The Storming Media report number is A195163. The abstract provided by the Pentagon follows: This research investigated the fatigue response of precracked 558 x 177.8 x 6.35 mm (22.0 x 7.0 x 0.25 in) 2024-T351 aluminum panels repaired with single-sided partially bonded, unidirectional, eighteen ply boron/epoxy reinforcements. Disbonds were introduced into the bondline of each repair during the adhesion process using teflon inserts. Five different disbond configurations, with varying disbond locations and sizes, were tested. Each repaired panel was subjected to constant amplitude cyclic fatigue loading with a maximum stress of 120MPa. Results from the different configurations were compared against one another and against repaired panels with no debonds to assess the effect of disbonds on repair life. Results from the experimentation showed that even in the case of very large disbonds (20% of total bond area), the bonded repairs significantly extended the lives of the cracked panels. Disbond configurations with disbonds located away from the crack in the aluminum panel, performed comparably to the repaired panel with no disbonds. Disbond configurations with disbonds covering the crack in the aluminum panel yielded slightly lower lives than those obtained from repaired panels with no disbonds. Cyclic fatigue loading caused no increase in size of the artificially induced disbonds. Cyclic disbond growth was observed in the immediate vicinity of the crack. Finite element analysis using the Three Layer Technique was performed to assess the ability of current modeling techniques in predicting the life of cracked thick aluminum panels repaired with composite patches. ...
