Isn't this book almost like Francis Ray's (I know who holds tomorrow) even the cover. This book came out in 2003 Francis Ray book came out in 2002. On each cover a lady is by a window and both ladies husband is killed and so is their mistress.

2-0 out of 5 stars This book was all over the place
I didn't like this book. The story was all over the place.First it was about Tracey losing her husband. Then it went to her sister and her problems. The book was about everything and everyone but Tracey, Travis, and their relationship. It took me forever to get into the story then I had to force myself to finish it. It wasn't worth my time or patience. I want my money back :^(

5-0 out of 5 stars ExcellentRomantic Book
Tracey woods was an hardworking woman and so was her husband Donald they have planned to celebrate their 3 year anniversary but the surprising part is that he don't make it home and then later she recieves an shocking call that he has been in an accident that threw her off for monthes she spends time with her family to forget the nightmares of her husband Donald and secret mistress that he was having affair with she thens run into the mistress's brother at the hospital and then he falls in love with her and can't stop the affection for me later they then hit it offand now she has to help her cheatingsister it 's a good good book for romantic book reader it will catch your eye!

4-0 out of 5 stars A Woman Scorned
You've heard the saying, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." For the main character, Tracey Woods, there are no truer words except in June in Winter, by Patricia Ann Phillips; there is no one for Tracey to bestow her fury on.

Tracey Wood has planned a celebration for her third wedding anniversary with her husband and family. As they wait for his return from a business trip, she receives a devastating phone call informing her that her husband Donald has been in an automobile accident. She arrives at the hospital only to learn that Donald is dead, along with her husband's mistress, Sharon. Mistaken for Donald's daughter by Sharon's brother Dr. Travis Howard, as he extends his condolences and says how much in love Donald and Sharon were. This information turned Tracey's world upside down. She is forced to question everything she knew and believed regarding her marriage.

Tracey has difficulty dealing with her husband's death. It's even harder for her to accept that he was unfaithful to her. She buries herself in her work and in helping family and friends with their lives she neglects to have any kind of life of her own outside of work. Tracey catches a glimpse of Dr. Howard at Donald's funeral and afterwards pays her a visit to apologize for his actions at the hospital. He becomes smitten with Tracey, but she is reluctant to become involved with him because of his sister. Will Tracey be able to overcome the obstacle that Donald and Sharon created? Or will this mountain prove too big for Tracey and Travis to climb to find love and happiness?

This story is not your typical predictable romance story. It is filled with excellent secondary characters and sub-plots that add spice to the mix. Through Tracey's sister, Robin and the fatal attraction ordeal, suspense and blackmail is added to further pique your interest. Aunt Flora adds her words of wisdom.

June in Winter was a very enjoyable read and I think romance readers will find this book worthwhile. I look forward to other works by this author.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not the best book
I bought this book in hopes of finding out new ideas to please my husband. I was very dissapointed because it didn't offer a whole lot more then the basics that you can find just about anywhere else. The "sizzling" photos were mostly photos of topless women who didn't look at all fascinated with the half clothed men they were with.

I gave this book a 2 star rating I did pick up a few things but a lot of it seemed like a research paper on sex and the few positions described wern't really detailed enough to try them due to lack of depth or illustration. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Suprised
Ive read a few of this author's books and her pace is alittle slow but still an enjoyable read. This book was easy read with just the right pace.
I was very happy with this book.

3-0 out of 5 stars A change of heart
Against her husband's wishes, Wanda takes a three week assignment in Africa. She convinces him this trip will secure her career and that she will be back before he misses her. But on the second leg of her flight, the plane crashes in Kenya and her body is not found. Steven appears devastated, but just days after the memorial service, Wanda's best friend offers him more than a comforting shoulder, and he takes it.

Wanda survives the crash and is discovered days later, near an African ranch, she has suffered extensive injuries and has amnesia. Ahmed, the owner, who has been comfortably widowed for three years, does not want her in his house. He realizes this mystery woman could test his resolve, but his meddling aunt has other plans. Wanda is also very taken with him, and when the lush exotic countryside of Kenya captures her heart, so does Ahmed. With him she shares a passion she'd never experienced with Steven.

In Los Angeles, a mere six months after the plane crash, Wanda's best friend and her husband are planning to marry. But, Wanda regains her memory before the scheduled wedding and returns to L.A. Since her life has changed dramatically, she must make decisions she never imagined having to make. What will she do about her marriage? And can she forget Ahmed?

LAST BRIDE STANDING shares a crazy, twist of fate story about unplanned events that change your life. There are several secondary stories going on here and occasionally they slow the pace of the primary story. A plus to this story would have been more emotions for some of the characters and more depth to their personal drama. With that said this is still a story that will hold your interest.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
Very complete book, just What I need, the delivery was very fast. Thank you!!

1-0 out of 5 stars So many mistakes
If you want a general introduction to J2EE, this book is ok, I suppose. Definitely not for Advanced users, as it claims. The high amount of authers shows through with inconsistant writing and often hard to understand sections. It also appears the authors didn't do much more then rewrite the Sun J2EE documentation - which is free to download.

In addition, the sheer amount of errors in both the examples and in just general formatting of the text would make me embarassed to have my name attached to it if I were one of the many authors. Things like using wrong filenames, wrong file extensions, mislabelled listings, uncompilable code, using the last line of a code example listing as the heading for the following paragrap (so the following paragraph has a heading like "", pre-production comments left in the final text, ... this is all in the first 200 pages! Definitely not a student-friendly book for someone attempting to learn the material by doing the examples.

You'll get the general idea and layout of J2EE, same as the Sun documentation, and not much else from this book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Lacking in detail to an extreme
I've gotten as far as chapter 7 and there is next to no usable information. In less than 40 pages it attempts to cover servlets, filters, and event listeners.I regret spending the money on this book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste
I read every page of this book. It was a complete waste of my time and money. I'm asking for a refund. There was no detail that helped me. While I'm not a new testament kind of guy, I expected more from a "Bible".

1-0 out of 5 stars Didn't meet expectations
Isn't this book supposed to be advanced reading level? It reads like a child's book with words like "screw" and "buzzword-friendly." Plus, there's so much info to cover in J2EE that it only explains the minimum needed to get started. If you plan on reading this book, don't expect to gain substantial knowledge from it. This book is only good for one thing: to establish an introduction. The real deal is to read the specifications which are advanced reading level and written by technical writers appointed by Sun Microsystems.

2-0 out of 5 stars Poorly tested and formatted
I'm not sure why other people are giving this book such a high mark because my experience with this book is that it's written in haste without much check to the codes that are featured in this book. I would say that in many case using the example off the book would not yield the effect that is shown in the figures. For instance on page 272, the source has a typo where its supposed to say IMG src=" is written as IMGsrc=". With the example of this page the logo image will appear with borders ( an effect you don't want with your company logo ) but the figure in the book shows logo with no borders. I also find the format of presentation to be sketchy and not to be clear about what code produced what effects. The author presents a block of code and boom, this is how the page looks is the way things are explained (?). This is unhelpful especially if the code contains bugs. Readers who have minimal exposure to HTML will no doubt find the gap bewildering. The book also lacks scenario for gradually building up for practical application of each tags. (...)

They probably can lead you in a more concise step by step introduction to each tags and publishing on the web. If you're looking for a list of HTML 4 tag reference, you probably can find a better book than this.

4-0 out of 5 stars Practical HTML 4 is a good book to learn HTML
This book is well layed out and has interesting examples that anyone who has never used HTML can follow. I would recomend it as an HTML text or reference book.

The more advanced sections of the book are an ok overview of concepts. Unfortunately, I found that there were a lot of type-o's and some of the javascript examples simply don't work with out being fixed. If the reader has never seen C++ or Java before I don't know how they will figure out what needs fixing.

Product Description
SE Using XML is a comprehensive tutorial/reference that shows you how to create XML documents and applications. This book begins with basic concepts and progresses through the creation of sophisticated XML projects. The book also includes many leading XML tools on the CD-ROM to help you create XML documents more easily. Amazon.com Review
Using XML, Special Edition, is a wonderful reference for those who know what the heck they're doing with XML, but a very confusing primer for those who don't. To be fair, the Using series was never meant to teach someone; it was meant to crouch purposefully on your bookshelf, waiting patiently for that moment when you look vaguely confused--at which point it leaps off the shelf into your arms, dispenses the answer that you're looking for, and then slinks back into hiding.

In that sense, Using XML serves quite well. But if you're looking for a tutorial, this book will simply look up at you with a kind of confused "Pikachu"-style expression and wonder what you're looking for specifically.

If you don't know what to tell it, you're in trouble.

The book delves into the programming realm--where its strength lies, incidentally--after a couple of obligatory "Intro to XML" chapters. Because XML, being a comparatively simple language, is more frequently about understanding when or why to use a particular feature than how, there is comparatively little code (though there's certainly enough of it to go around). Instead, most of the text explains concepts and gives examples of when it is and isn't appropriate to use certain features, what certain features are intended to be used, and so on, which is very helpful. After all, in many cases the reader will be using the book to try to find solutions and not simply answers. The writing is clear and concise--well, as clear and concise as you can be when venturing into the oft-nebulous areas of XML--when describing code functions and real-life examples, but, as stated, this book is fairly weak on XML concepts. If you didn't understand the concept going in, you're not likely to be much wiser on the other side of the chapter.

There is code galore, however, and much of it is notated, as it should be. As would be expected in a reference book, there are pages and pages and pages of tables with classes and features and commands aplenty. Unfortunately, there are several code samples from real-world Web sites or actual working models. This is "unfortunate" mainly because the samples point to the lack of usable examples in the book. A lot of XML's advanced functions would be made a lot clearer if the book would not only give isolated code fragments for many XML features, but also a wider-scale XML page that would let the reader understand how it's used in the field.

This is by no means a tutorial, and if you're fuzzy on critical XML philosophies, you may want another book. But if you're an XML developer working on a project who needs something to pull off the shelf from time to time, this is fine. --William Steinmetz ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars If you want to read a book about XML, try another one!
I'm an IT professional and I don't use XML in my work. I just wanted to find what XML is about. So I decided to buy a book. It happened that I chose this one. And I didn't like it.

First of all, the author writes a lot, but says few things. This becomes annoying. Then, another thing that I didn't like is that, after reading 150 pages, I couldn't tell anyone what XML was about. I had to go to www.w3c.org, spend some time reading some XML specifications and then come back the to the book. Only after I did this, the book made sense to me... But I bought the book in order to avoid reading the W3C specifications. I wanted something "lighter" than the standards...

Probably the book has some good things, but I don't want to mention them here because I am too affected by the weakness of this book.

My advice: if you want to read a book about XML, try another one!

5-0 out of 5 stars It gives you the Foundations of XML
I boughtfive XML books, and have discarded some. I thought twice before buying this one, and still bought a used bookThis is the first book that explains inplain English the fundamentals and foundations of XML, Document Type Declarations (DOCTYPE), Document Type Definitions (DTD), and other related technologies. So far, I've only read the first seven chapters, which gives me enough material to understand the underlying principles of XML. It's true, you have to do a lot of reading, but it's rewarding. This isnot a tutorial book (for that you may need a more basic Step-By-Step book) This is for Intermediate-advanced level XML users. Five stars for Ms. Lee Anne Phillips.

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible
I don't even know how they can pass this off as a reference book, since the index is so incredibly bad. There was ONE page listed for the ELEMENT definition, and that page had nothing to do with what it is or how to write one.

I can imagine, based on the MEANDERING style of writing, what this author is like when she talks - interrupting herself over and over again, until it is forgotten what the conversation was about.

I'll never buy a book from this publisher again, since obviously the editors never read it OR they DID read it , and weren't technical enough to know that it was garbage.

Glad I only paid three bucks.

1-0 out of 5 stars I hope Ms. Phillips isn't a teacher...
This book uses far too much theory and virtually no examples for clarification. I had hoped for a book that would give me something to *do* with XML. There has to be somthing better. Don't waste your time with this one.

1-0 out of 5 stars Think twicw b4 u buy this one
The author seems to know her staff pretty darn good but I think she doesn't know her audience.I am not a "computer geek" by any stretch of the imagination but I do code a lot and I purchase and read a lot of computer programming books. This is the first one I have read and didn't understand. There are no examples its all just theory.I read up to the the 150th page and still couldn't write a 6 line XML document. She talks about "well formed" documents, DTD's etc and doesn't show you what they look like.It was until I read another book, that I actually new what XML was all about and I could write somewhat sophisticated xml documents.

I certainly think this book is good for some people but it just didn't do it for me.So next time Lee Ann, when you write your book put a "for computer geeks only" sign in front to let us know not to touch it.There are three audiences for computer books: 1. Beginners ...2. Intermediate ...3. Professional ...Just pick one and and stick to it. ... Read more

I received Ann Byrn's book in 1988 as a gift from Susan Byrn, my coworkerand the author's sister. It has been our favorite cookbook for the lastdecade. We grew up in Arkansas and Louisiana, so updated southern favorites(lower fat, modern processing) are right up our alley. My husband loves tomake Red Beans and Rice, the Seafood Gumbo is our special occasion recipe, and I am always asked to bring Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie to familyholidays. I've won raves at pot luck meals with Seven-Layer Salad andSouthwestern Squash Casserole. I am so pleased to see this book back inprint so I can give it to my friends and family. Product Description
Historically, leftwing accounts of injustice focussed primarily on economic harms, such as poverty, exploitation, and inequality. Recently, however, with the collapse of Communism and the rise of identity politics, attention has turned toward cultural harms, such as cultural imperialism, 'misrecognition,' and disrespect. New challenges for the left are raised: How to do justice to the legitimate claims of multiculturalism without abandoning the left's historic-and still indispensable-commitment to economic equality? How to broaden the understanding of injustice by adding (cultural) insult to (economic) injury? Adding Insult to Injury traces the debate sparked by Nancy Fraser's controversial effort to combine the social politics of equality and the cultural politics of difference, while probing the tensions between them. Introduced by Richard Rorty, the volume contains Fraser's influential essay 'From Redistribution to Recognition?'; critical responses by Judith Butler, Joseph Heath, Kevin Olson, Anne Phillips, and Iris Marion Young; and Fraser's rejoinders to them. The result is a wide-ranging and at times contentious exploration of alternative approaches to rebuilding the left. ... Read more

Product Description
Sean Scullyis one of the best-known contemporary artists to carry the painterly tradition into the 21st century. For more than thirty years, Scully has produced a vibrant and compelling body of work that is widely collected and internationally exhibited. His familiar signature style of lines or bands of color, alluding to architectural elements such as portals, windows, and walls, is one of the most instantly recognizable in contemporary painting. More than any other artist of his generation, Sean Scully combines formal European traditions of painting with forms of aesthetic experience whose roots lie in American abstract painting.Sean Scully: Wall of Light will present paintings, watercolors, and pastels from the artist's Wall of Light series. In the 1980s and 90s, Scully embarked on a significant body of work following a number of trips to Mexico, entitled Wall of Light. In this series, Scully transcribed his experience of color and light as he traveled through Mexico and witnessed the interplay of light and shadow on the stacked stones of ancient ruins and architectural formations. The resulting paintings combine color and shape in a way that is more airy and balanced than his earlier work. These paintings confirm Scully's position as one of the world's foremost abstract painters. Scully continues to work actively in his studios in New York, Barcelona, and Munich, where he is a professor of painting. ... Read more
