Linda Dunn, Linda Dunn (Linda Dunn, 1999) Although Linda is a successful writer, she wasn't content with being just that. Something was still missing from her life, and it turns out that it was music-making. Beginning as a solo acoustic act, Linda's music has evolved considerably. This singer-songwriter has a lot of talent, diverting her writing skills from stories to songs that hold a lot of realism. This debut disc contains everything from sultry blues to some serious soul, with a taste of country, rock, and some ardent folk tracks. Linda proves here that she can hold her own in any of these music styles. Linda is another one of those rarities who can travel the spectrum of styles and breathe life into everything she does. Out of the twelve tracks on this disc, all but one are Linda Dunn originals. Her lyrics contain a great deal of realism when she turns her attention that way, although there is a track or two that hold an element of the fantasy world and Linda's skill as a Science Fiction/Fantasy writer. This previous pursuit has given Linda a very deep well from which to draw material forth. Linda has a wonderful sultry and smoky alto, which helps to get the message behind the songs out in front. There is a passion burning deeply within this woman that it is impossible to miss if you listen to even a partial track, and matched with her great lyrics, it's a combination that shouldn't be missed.

(Prime CD, 1998)
"Streetlights cast their circles just like
stepping stones
She sticks to them like a childhood game
so afraid to be walking along
She listens hard for footsteps
when she's got the heart
But sometimes its easier to avoid the dark." With long-suffering lyrics, memorable melodies and a voice smooth and thick like a fresh-poured cup of hot chocolate, Linda Dunn is poetry in motion. Sung with wisdom and conviction, "Bastard Amber" reveals feelings exposed when held up to a night light. Stunningly introspective and instrumentally inspiring, this track provides exquisite insight into an undesired sexual encounter. Although a star in a sky of many, this song far outshines the rest. More hopeful, "This Time Tomorrow" is a snappy, movin' on song. A headstrong Dunn won't let anyone hold her back, and tells them so in "Be Somewhere Else." "Be somewhere else," she says, "you're standing in my light." "Fortune's Courtesan" continues Dunn's unique but folksy style, with a noticeable heartbeat. Her passion shows not only in her spirited lyrics, but in the beat and strum of her acoustic guitar. In "A Broken Heart is a Terrible Thing" she sings the blues, proving her multifaceted talent. A slow, beautiful melody of regret, "Sorry for the Rain" provides a soft apology for things that don't work out. But you will not linger in lament for long as you will soon be bopping to the rhythm of the upbeat "Does the Future Look Black." My only problem with any of the songs lies with this song where the pace of the music doesn't seem to jive with the lyrics. By the way, great sax on this one!

Her life philosophy: "You can always revise your writing, but you cannot change a single instant in your past. You've got to live life carefully the first time." Good advice.
Dunn is also a computer specialist in the defense industry. I don't know what "Computer Specialist" means, exactly, but it's the defense industry, so I probably don't want to.

that they say never happens in the music business " says dunn. linda went to a party given by the aunt of a friend.
http://www.primecd.com/lindadunn
"It's one of those stories that they say never happens in the music business," says Dunn. Linda went to a party given by the aunt of a friend. Soon she was talking with a woman whose knowledge of the music business far supassed mere cocktail chat. When the conversation turned to the topic of miking techniques Linda mentioned an article she had read about Mary Chapin Carpenter's producer, Bob Dawson. The woman told Linda that Bob Dawson was her brother and encouraged Linda to give her a demo to pass along to him. "Yeah, right, I thought," says Linda. Eight months later Linda got a call from Dawson saying that he'd like to make an album with her. It got even better from there: Bob asked her, "In a perfect world, who would you like to play on your album." Linda mentioned that she had seen Mary Chapin Carpenter perform four times and loved her band. "We can get some of them," Dawson replied. Other of Linda's favorites were Nils Lofgren and Pete Kennedy. So Bob got them too. "It was amazing to work with those people," says Linda. "I learned so much." The result is a debut album with production qualities that match the depth of this woman's undeniable talent and versatility. Linda Dunn's songwriting is first-rate; she really knows how to tell a story. In fact, telling stories has always been a passion for Dunn, who received her Master's Degree in Creative Writing and has had many of her short stories published in literary magazines. "But I started to notice that all of my characters were becoming musicians. I realized that I was living vicariously through them." A career change was definitely in order.

My Family's Testimony Both my wife and I are converts - that is to say, we were not born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We have both come from a Christian background and have read, and studied the Book of Mormon. We have prayed about the truthfulness of the things that are contained in it. We have come to know of ourselves, through reading the Book of Mormon and through prayer to our Heavenly Father, that the Book of Mormon is true and that it is indeed, the word of God. It is another witness that Jesus is the Christ. This sacred book fulfils many Biblical prophecies, such as the one that is to be found in the Old Testament, in the book of Ezekiel chapter thirty seven. We would encourage you to read in the Book of Mormon, of the visitation of the Saviour to his "Other Sheep" as is recorded in 3rd Nephi chapters 11-27 (Pages 427-460).Within the pages of the Book of Mormon is the promise to those who read it with a sincere heart, that if we pray to our Heavenly Father honestly for the truth, that we will know not only that He lives, but that the Book of Mormon is exactly what it claims to be, the written word of God. We will also gain a testimony that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he did indeed translate the ancient writings into English with the gift and power of God. Since its publication in 1829, the Book of Mormon has gone through the length and breadth of the world in numerous languages, testifying to any who would read it, that Jesus is the Christ, and that there is hope for any and all would simply repent of their sins and be as a little child in their humility and be baptised into the Lord's own Church.
