Sometimes we don't want to let go of loved ones, even when we know they would be so much happier with the Lord. Sandy's lesson through Buck taught her to finally let go of her daddy and understand why he wouldn't have wanted to stay.

ONE LEFT! This situation posed a bit of a problem for me because loner cows have no nucleus to draw to when threatened by the Catahoulas. The only thing such a cow can do is run away or just keep moving and roping in a sugar cane field is next to impossible. If the cow would drive, a decent lead dog could show her the way home and I had such a dog so I thought I would try that first and if that failed I would use my South Alabama Catch Dog or otherwise known as a White English Bulldog (now they are widely known as American Bulldogs), Buck. That part of south Louisiana is swamped with Pitbulls as dog fighting was a previously popular past time, and I had seen many a big stout brahman cow run off through the woods with such a "catchdog" attached. I liked a "catchdog" for cows to be heavy enough to hold the cow and Buck, at 100 lbs could do just that. We met the cow's owner just up the road from the restaurant (1/2 mile north of I-10) and proceeded west to the Vermillion and turned my Catahoula loose and he found the cow straight away. True to my expectations, this cow would just run and ignore my dog so I turn a couple more loose to try and get her attention, still no good. By now ole Buck was pulling on his leash to go so I let him go. He was the type of dog that would just sort of saunter quietly up to what he was to catch and pick his time and spot, and take a hold. But this high horned bremmer had no intention of being caught and she ran up and down the river with her head held up and too fast for ole Buck, so he just tagged along behind waiting for an opportunity.

71. Buck Owen's Crystal Palace: About Buck
He was gonna be a star. buck traveled with Collins to the Grand ole Opry in 1954when Collins performed You Better Not Do That, but otherwise worked only
http://www.buckowens.com/aboutbuck9.html
Buck and Bonnie Owens divorced in 1953 but remained friends Town Hall Party guitarist Joe Maphis, who often played in Bakersfield, to write the honky-tonk ballad "Dim Lights, Thick Smoke (And Loud, Loud Music)."
was at the Blackboard with Tommy Collins discussing the singer’s first national tour when he took notice of Buck. He still savors the memory: "The place was just jam-packed full on a Sunday afternoon. Me and Tommy sat down and we watched, everybody in the band was doin’ their thing, and here comes Buck, to sing. And I watched and watched the way people reacted to what he was doing. Tommy wanted to hire Buck to take him on his tour as his guitar player. Buck Owens had that something. He was gonna be a star." Buck traveled with Collins to the Grand Ole Opry in 1954 when Collins performed "You Better Not Do That," but otherwise worked only briefly as Collins’ guitarist before returning to the Blackboard. The club had given him a leave of absence to work with Tommy.
Meanwhile, Ken Nelson began using Buck on other sessions at Capitol.

Follow Ups Post Followup Ole Miss Basketball Posted by RebFan on December 07, 2000 at 19:17:34: Gametime: Saturday, December 9 at 7:00 PM Central
Place: The Pyramid in Memphis, TN
*The game will be broadcast on in the Memphis area on WLMT* Scouting Memphis:
The Tigers are off to a 2-5 start. Don't be deceived by the record though, all 5 of Memphis' losses have come against nationally-ranked teams. First-year coach John Calpari seems to be doing a decent job with this Memphis team. He inherited a very talented, but undisciplined, team. Center Kelley Wise is a load down in the paint. At 6-10 and 213 lbs., the junior center has been playing like NBA material. He has stepped up and controls the boards, leads in scoring, and provides a good floor general for the team. Juco transfer John Grice is the team's shooter, although he has been having trouble putting it in the bucket through the first couple of games. Don't let him get hot, or you in for a long night. Sophomore guard Courtney Trask runs the offense for the Tigers. Scouting our Rebs:
    *Keys to the game*
For our Rebs, it needs to start with continued defensive pressure. Memphis plays a sophomore and freshman at their guard spots, and if we can harass them into mistakes, it will be a big help in this one. Harper needs to continue to look for his shot and knock it down. Rahim will have to play like a man down low against Kelley Wise. This could be his chance to prove he can play with the upper-team postmen in the country. This won't be an easy win by any stretch of the imagination. A win here sets up to have a really good record going into conference play. A win also should sneak us into the Top 25, not to mention keep us undefeated. This should be a very good game, and right now it is like the election... too close to call!

or jump straight to Jim's latest entry W hat's all this talk I hear about fags hating football? Sez who? Let me tell you, dearie, if anyone around here's gay, c'est moi, and if there's anything I like, it's a good, long, college football game. Of course, I haven't played much since high schoolI think the act of swallowing a cheekfull of Skoal during one particularly brutal tackle scared me away from the sportbut I'm still a big fan. These days, however, my interest in such events is, well, largely prurient. I cruise the restrooms. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me give you some lead-in to my t-room tale.... Growing up the South's perennially temperate clime, my brother and I spent most of our time outdoors, frolicking in the woods with other children of the neighborhood. At some point during our adolescence, the headiness of the sun, sweat, and kudzu began to affect us, and there, beneath towering pine trees, we started a series of experiments. We created, in the words of Babs Kruger, elaborate rituals to view and touch the bodies of our friends, and for those of us who felt especially curiouswhich is more than you might thinkthis evolved into furtive but enthusiastic pre-teen orgies. Like most novelties, this was great for a while, but as the years passed, most of our intimes outgrew their bi-curiosity. When we hit junior high, only one other guy on our street still "enjoyed" himself with me. (Pity the feeling of enjoyment wasn't mutual; I don't think I've ever been with anyone as bad in bed as he.) Far from having exhausted the possibilities of the male body, however

History of A Replacement Pilot - Part VI
by: Donnie S. Dyke Part I Part II Part III Part IV ... Part V
Chapter 6 - My Buddy, Buck
I went through my advanced twin-engine training with Buck. Buck Holtzinger was a pompous, self-centered, know-it-all jerk. And he was my buddy the whole time. Buck was a 'first-impression' type of guy; after you first met him you either accepted him the way he was or you wanted to pound the snot out of him. Either way, your feelings about him wouldn't change.
Buck and I went our seperate ways after training and we made no special effort to stay in touch or keep track of each other. There was a war on and letters were for the folks back home. Anyway, I met Buck again on one of my trips 'procuring' Lightnings for the 78th.
September 12th, 1943 dawned in typical English fashion. A dull gray glow through patchy, hazy overcast. I yawned and stretched my legs as best I could in the cab of an Army supply truck. As we bounced along the narrow country road leading to Ingressen, I tried to decide which was worse; the hours long, late-night train ride north, or the slow, uncomfortable truck ride to the airfield. Digging out my Luckys, I decided that the weather had them both beat.
I shook a cigarette up in the pack and held it toward the driver, "Smoke, Corporal?" "Don't mind if I do, sir." He said, accepting it. "Help hold us over 'til breakfast." I added, searching for my Zippo. The Corporal lit his trench lighter and extended it to me. "Breakfast here is well worth the wait, sir. Ever been here before?"

“Ask The Doctor” “Ask The Doctor” is a feature of the Fellowship of Christian Hunters. Dr David Harrison, President of the North Carolina Chapter answers questions and provides information that will be beneficial to both “Christians” and “Hunters.” Question: “What can I do on my small tract of land that will be most beneficial to whitetail deer? Is supplemental feeding the best answer, or should I plant food plots?” Answer: There has been much discussion over the issue of “growing bigger and better” deer. Of course, states vary in their regulations concerning feeding and planting so first you need to check with your local DNR. There are some who use feeds and feeders to increase deer quality. Many are planting plots and the varieties and options can confuse the average consumer. In a recent conversation with a man who works with the QDMA and advises plantations on feeding and planting, he revealed some simple advice that I think is worth passing on. One of the goals of feeding or planting is to provide the deer with nutrients that they need to become trophies. Protein is found in many feeds and seeds, but to my surprise, the best things are those things that God provided for the deer and if properly utilized, can become our greatest asset in helping the whitetail.

    OBITUARIES MINNIE
MAX We'd take them out with us on the lake and they'd get sick from it being too hot or the water too rough. So Minnie and Max are the main reason we opened a kennel. We couldn't go anywhere without feeling guilty and there was no one we wanted to leave them with and that is why we are here today. Minnie and Max died at 16 years old. They had a wonderful life.
OLE We also lost our Golden Retriever Olivia Newton John (OLE) to cancer when she had puppies that were 18 days old. That one almost killed me. Our heart goes out to all of you who have lost a pet. It is not an easy thing to cope with, not everyone can understand your pain. I can and all I'll want to do is cry for you! Ole was the best dog. I kept one of her puppies and she is so much like her mother it fills that empty spot. Ole's favorite toy is now her daughters and not any of my other dogs play with that toy. Ole brought me my slippers, my bottles of water and fetched the newspaper for me everyday. Oh HOW we miss her.
    Love, Mom and Dad!!!
