Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a degenerative brain disease that usually begins gradually, causing a person to forget recent events or familiar tasks. Advancement of Alzheimer's Disease varies among individuals.
Smell loss is among the first alzheimers symptoms. Although not all older persons with smell loss have AD, such loss, alone or in combination with memory problems and/or certain genetic markers, is among the best predictors or indicators of AD.
  • Impaired sense of smell is among the first signs of Alzheimer's Disease Early Alert is a home version of a widely-used olfactory test employed in physician's offices Each test just $16.95

Four million Americans have Alzheimer's disease. Unless a cure is found the number will be 14 million by the year 2050. It is estimated that 22 million people throughout the world will have Alzheimer's disease by 2025. Nineteen million Americans say they have a family member with Alzheimer's disease.

    One grandchild's birthday
Now she can't remember my name
And it makes me so angry
    I shake my fist
And cry out to the heavenly one
Why would you play Such a cold hearted trick I thought your job was to love And the answer came down from above She's gonna fly When her time here is through First she'll have to let go Of some things she can't use 'Cause people and places Memories and faces Are just way too heavy it seems To carry on angel's wings This is the woman Who saw things so clearly The one who could pick out One crumb on the floor She saw through a white lie Saw me through love's eyes She hardly can see anymore And it makes me so sad And it just isn't fair Why should so much be taken away But when I cry out For all that she's lost I silently hear someone say She's gonna fly When her time here is through First she'll have to let go Of some things she can't use 'Cause people and places Memories and faces Are just way too heavy it seems To carry on angel's wings And oh, the wonders she'll see

The price of fluoridation? George Glasser /Andreas Schuld
USEPA admits that no chronic toxicity safety testing has been done with the fluorosilicic acid used to fluoridate drinking water, (phosphate fertilizer production pollution scrubber liquor and other fluorosilicates). On 10 May 1999, US Rep. Ken Calvert, US House Subcommittee on Energy and the Environment, wrote to the US Environmental Protection Agency. The response, dated 23 June 1999, was made by J. Charles Fox, USEPA Assistant Administrator, at EPA Headquarters. In answer to Question Two: "What chronic toxicity test data are there on sodium fluorosilicate? On hydrofluorosilicic acid. . . ?" Fox wrote: "In collecting the data for the fact sheet EPA was not able to identify chronic studies for these chemicals." Aside from the much debated fluoride issue, there is a component of the product that might be as bioactive as fluorine. It does not appear on Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) or in any quality control specification sheets (contaminant analyses). However, the component is part and parcel of the empirical formula and the chemical name, Silicon/Silica. All US government agencies are aware of this inherent, possibly carcinogenic, component of fluorosilicates, but refuse to acknowledge it. OSHA requires that any product containing a hazardous substance exceeding 1.0 % of the product be labeled on the product, yet OSHA will not acknowledge that fluorosilicic acid or sodium fluorosilicate used to fluoridate drinking water contains any elemental silica.

Information on Alzheimers Disease (AD) and Sundowning
This is a collection of abstracts from published research which relate to circadian rhythms and phototherapy (light therapy) and Alzheimer's disease. - Light therapy research is continuing all the time. This is a snapshot of some of the results to date. By inclusion here we do not claim that the authors endorse our products specifically.
    SUMMARY
The common thread is that the organic progress of the disease results in damage to a part of the brain ( the Suprachiasmatic Nucleus or SCN) which controls body clock or circadian rhythms, but by using bright light (also known as phototherapy ) the disruption to the normal circadian rhythms can be reduced, making it more likely that the patient will be able to fit in with the normal daily sleep-wake cycle.

What Is Alzheimer's? Alzheimer's is a progressive, degenerative disorder that affects the brain. It damages the brain cells responsible for intellectual functioning in the brain, including memory , intelligence, judgment, and speech. Alzheimers leads to the loss of mental and physical functions. Alzheimer's is the most common cause of dementia in older people. It affects the parts of the brain that control thought, memory, and language. A small percentage Alzheimer's patients are under 50 years of age. However, most are over 65 years of age. A rare and aggressive form of Alzheimer's can happen in some people in their 40s and 50s. Over the course of years, as the disease progresses, individuals loose their ability to perform the basic tasks that are part of everyday life and usually end up requiring constant care and supervision.

There's Still a Person in There: The Complete Guide to Treating and Coping with Alzheimer's (Perigee)
by Michael Castleman, Matthew Naythons, Dolores Gallagher-Thompson To Buy This Book, Click here Chapter One "There's Still a Person in There" Profile of Ann and Julian Davidson The absentminded professor. That's how Ann Davidson often thought of her husband, Julian. A handsome, quick-witted man with roots in Scotland, Julian spent virtually his entire career as a professor of physiology at Stanford University. He looked the part of the academic, with rumpled casual clothes, wire-rimmed glasses, an ambling gait, a graying beard, receding curly gray hair, a deep love of classical music, and an air of perpetual preoccupation as he pedaled his bike daily from their large, comfortable ranch home on the prestigious campus to his office and back. During their thirty-seven years of marriage, Ann and Julian raised three children. Ann trained as a speech pathologist and worked part-time while their children were growing up. The children went off to college, and later their daughter produced three grandchildren.
