INTRODUCTION
The first documented case report about honey treatment of gastro-intestinal disorders came in Bukhari and Moslem Hadith Books of our gracious prophet Mohammed ( PBUH ) as follows:
"A MAN CAME TO HIM ASKING HIS ADVICE TO TREAT HIS BROTHER WHO WAS SUFFERING FROM DIARRHEA. THE PROPHET (PBUH) TOLD THAT MAN TO GIVE HIS BROTHER HONEY TO DRINK. THE MAN WENT BACK AND GAVE THIS SICK BROTHER HONEY BUT WITHOUT RESPONSE. HE ASKED THE PROPHET (PBUH) AGAIN, WHO ADVISED HIM TO TRY HONEY AGAIN. FOR THE ISECOND TIME, THE MAN DID NOT RESPOND AND HIS BROTHER RETURNED TO THE PROPHET (PBUH) FOR A THIRD TIME. THE PROPHET (PBUH) PRONOUNCED THAT GOD SAID THE TRUTH ABOUT HONEY, BUT YOUR ILL BROTHER'S ABDOMEN LIED. GO BACK AND LET HIM DRINK HONEY. THIS TIME THE ILL MAN RECOVERED". Ever since Moslems and Arabs used honey to treat different types of illnesses. However, many scientific approaches to document the efficiency of honey in diarrhea, abdominal colic, chest affection, skin diseases... etc. have been attempted. (2, 3.) This paper is an attempt to verify the value of honey in the management of upper gastrointestinal dyspepsia including peptic ulceration.

About GERD IFFGD Professional Meeting The 5th International Symposium on Functional GI Disorders will be held April 4-7, 2003. Find out more here. C.A.A.R.D. The Coalition Against Acid Reflux Disease (C.A.A.R.D.) is working to advance awareness of GERD. The most frequent symptoms of GERD are so common that they may not be associated with a disease. Self-diagnosis can lead to mistreatment. Consultation with a physician is essential to proper diagnosis and treatment of GERD. (The disease may be present even without apparent symptoms.) Heartburn is so common that it often is not associated with a serious disease, like GERD. All too often, GERD is either self-treated or mistreated. GERD is a chronic disease. Treatment usually must be maintained on a long-term basis, even after symptoms have been brought under control. Issues of daily living, and compliance with long-term use of medication need to be addressed as well. This can be accomplished through follow-up, support, and education.

Specific Gravity test I consistently have a abnormal reading always 1.000.
Also, when doing an ordinary urinalysis using a reagent strip it shows that I have Urobilinogen in increased amounts. Upon microscopic analysis, after centrifuging my urine and properly mounting on a slide, it showed an extreme amount of Tyrosine and Leucine Crystals. Now, after donating blood to the Red Cross they sent me a letter stating that although I tested negative for any type of Hepatitis, my ALT level was above the cutoff of 120. My ALT level

http://www.mbschachter.com/gastrointestinal_disorders.htm
Gastrointestinal Disorders Upper or lower abdominal pain, chronic constipation and/or diarrhea are some of the most common reasons that people seek medical help. Frequently, these symptoms relate to faulty diets, food allergies, enzyme deficiencies, the presence of abnormal bacteria, yeast or parasites, the relative absence of friendly bacteria, and nervous system imbalances associated with difficulties dealing with stressful circumstances. These may lead to two possible functional problems. The first is the inability to absorb into the body from the gastrointestinal system important nutrients (the so-called malabsorption syndrome). The second results in the gastrointestinal syndrome failing to screen out substances that shouldn’t enter the system (the so-called “leaky gut syndrome”). When these problems become bad enough, we wind up with diseases such as peptic ulcers, colitis, Crohn’s Disease, and irritable bowel syndrome. By focusing on the 4 R’s, we can frequently help these problems. The four R’s are: (1) Removing abnormal organisms from the GI tract, usually with natural substances; (2) Replacing enzymes or other missing links needed for the digestive process; (3) Reinnoculating the gut with friendly bacteria; and (4) Introducing substances to Repair the damage to the gut.

Review Article: Clinical Evidence to Support
Current Therapies of Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Camilleri M Aliment Pharmacol Ther 13(Suppl 2):48-53, 1999 May This review summarizes the clinical evidence to support current therapies in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Fibre is indicated at a dose of at least 12 g per day in patients with constipation-predominant IBS. Loperamide (and probably other opioid agonists) are of proven benefit in diarrhoea-predominant IBS; loperamide may also aid continence by enhancing resting anal tone. In general, smooth muscle relaxants are best used sparingly, on an 'as needed' basis, as their overall efficacy is unclear. Psychotropic agents are important in relieving depression and of proven benefit for pain and diarrhoea in patients with depression associated with IBS.
