EARSHOT / FEATURE Pinkeye spanks you very much BY LEE SMITH Before they'd ever played live, the punk trio Pinkeye was accepted to play the Rockrgrl Music Conference, held next week in Seattle. The band quickly recorded a four-song demo and sent it in. When the musicians learned they were selected to play the event, they realized they'd need money to make the lengthy trip to Washington state. "We were trying to think of fund-raisers while listening to Michael Jackson's 'Beat It,'" says bassist and vocalist Mitsu Bitchi. Thus, Pinkeye's "Spank-A-Rama" show was born. Curious contributors can buy a dollar ticket from the band for a chance to win a lengthy ass-dustin' from Bitchi. "It will be worth it," she says. "Plus, we just couldn't afford to raffle off a TV." For Bitchi who had never played bass until this year and drummer Kelly Diamond, Pinkeye is their first real band. Providing a needed element of experience is the Liar's Club's Laurie G-Force on guitar. A veteran of the Living Abortions, Thee Foul Licks and pre- "Ultra" Babyfat, G-Force is the group's gravity.
