Pregnancy Complications:- Anemia in Pregnancy
Anemia is an iron deficiency in your body, but you needed worry to much about your baby as he/she will ensure that they get enough iron from you. You will in fact run short of iron long before your baby does. Your baby will really start to draw on your iron reserves around week 20 . Your baby may only suffer from Anemia if the situation is ignored. Are you Anemic? The blood tests that you take throughout your pregnancy will tell you if you are anemic or not. Be sure to keep up the tests as although you may not be anemic in the first stages of your pregnancy, you become anemic later on in your pregnancy as your baby starts to draw on your resources. How Much Iron should you get during your Pregnancy? Pre conception, you would have been needing about 15mg of iron per day, which is a fair amount. Many women who aren't pregnant do not even reach the RDA each day. Now that you are pregnant you will be needing almost twice the amount of iron per day. Where do I get Iron From?

Preeclampsia
What is Preeclampsia ?
Preeclampsia is characterized by high blood pressure, fluid retention that first shows up in the second half of pregnancy, and protein in the urine, according to the book Planning for Pregnancy, Birth, and Beyond. Preeclamsia can be either mild or severe, and in more serious cases can restrict blood flow to the placenta. Should the blood flow to the placenta be restricted it could seriously harm your baby.
Preventing Preeclampsia
Although Preeclamsia is a rare pregnancy complication, if you ensure that you are getting all the right prenatal care and keeping all of your prenatal appointments the chances that your health care provider will pick up the problem early enough to treat it.
Treating Preeclampsia
The first option is usually to reduce your blood preasure, and this is usually done by getting some rest. Although preeclampsia is not a common complication, it is definitely not something to be taken lightly, so be sure that you keep your prenatal appointments and have all the tests done that need to be done. • Researchers studied plasma homocysteine levels in the mother and fetus during the third trimester of 26 normal pregnancies and 60 pregnancies with evidence of preeclampsia and placental vascular disease. Maternal plasma homocysteine levels were significantly higher than normals in women with either of these problems.

Previous Screen Complications Most pregnancies will progress safely, happily and without any major problems or emergencies, but for some there may be complications. To be on the safe side and for your own peace of mind, you should be aware of any potential complications and the corresponding danger signs so that you can seek medical care if necessary. If you experience any unusual symptoms, or if you have concerns about any of your pregnancy symptoms contact your doctor as soon as possible to arrange a check-up. Some of the more serious complications include: Ectopic Pregnancy
Incompetent Cervix

Miscarriage

Placenta Praevia
...
Further Information
Ectopic Pregnancy Incompetent Cervix In normal pregnancy, the cervix is sealed closed with a plug of mucus, which holds the foetus in the uterus. In an incompetent cervix, the cervix may begin to open before the term of the pregnancy (usually in the third of fourth month). This leads to rupture of the amniotic sac and miscarriage follows. This condition is rare, but may occur if the cervix has been damaged during previous pregnancies or surgery. This condition is not usually diagnosed until a first miscarriage has occurred. If a previous miscarriage is thought to have been caused by an incompetent cervix, preventative measures can be taken for your next pregnancy. Rest is recommended.

Abdominal Pain
There are many causes of abdominal pains. Some twinges and tightening feelings are to be expected, as the area expands to hold the growing baby. This should not be very painful. You may also feel mild discomfort if the baby kicks and moves around. However, if the pain is severe, does not go away, and is accompanied by bleeding, the cause may be miscarriage or premature labor. Contact your doctor as soon as possible. To relieve pains or cramps particularly, use a hot water bottle on the affected areas. You can also gently massage the areas with lavender oil. If you exercise regularly, you will strengthen and tone your abdominal muscles.

Complications of Pregnancy
What are some of the more common complications of pregnancy?
Although the majority of pregnancies are uneventful, sometimes complications do occur. The following are some of the more common pregnancy complications: amniotic fluid complications
Too much or too little amniotic fluid in the membranes surrounding the fetus may indicate a problem with the pregnancy. Too much fluid can put excessive pressure on the mother's uterus, leading to preterm labor, or can cause pressure on the mother's diaphragm leading to breathing difficulties. Fluids tend to build up in cases of uncontrolled diabetes, multiple pregnancy, incompatible blood types, or birth defects. Too little fluid may indicate birth defects, growth retardation, or stillbirth. bleeding
Bleeding in late pregnancy may be a sign of placental complications or a vaginal or cervical infection. Women who bleed in late pregnancy may be at greater risk of losing the fetus and hemorrhaging (bleeding excessively). Bleeding at any time during the pregnancy should be reported to your physician immediately. ectopic pregnancy
An ectopic pregnancy is the development of the fetus outside of the uterus. An ectopic pregnancy can occur in the fallopian tubes, cervical canal, or the pelvic or abdominal cavity. The cause of an ectopic pregnancy is usually a blocked fallopian tube. This type of pregnancy can never produce a live baby because of its position outside the uterus (a womb).
