    Travel Health Information
Home Preparations Getting There Destination ... Links A Travel Health Information Guide Travel health information is like your American Express Card: you should never leave home without it. Yet each year, millions of tourists bound for exotic destinations and unknown ports of call do just that, and as a result, end up spending the better part of their vacations becoming intimate with a toilet bowl, or worse still, with a doctor's office. The scale of international travel today is quite astounding considering what is was only a few decades ago. While back then many places may have been out of reach to all but the most intrepid travelers, today, even the most remote locations are accessible to the ordinary tourist. But with this rapid globalization comes exposure to new health risks. Without good travel health information, your trip may well go from being one you wouldn't want to forget, to one you wish you could forget. It's important to remember that even though diseases like polio and tuberculosis have been all but eliminated in developed countries, it is a different story in many other parts of the world. Some countries still have problems maintaining a sanitary water supply while others have diseases that western travelers may not normally be exposed to. Consequently, before you pack the disposable camera, sun tan lotion and snorkel, it's a good idea to stock up on up to date travel health information.

search A-Z of health health news healthy living medicines ... A-Z of health Deep vein thrombosis What is deep vein thrombosis? Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) refers to the formation of a thrombus (blood clot) within a deep vein, commonly in the thigh or calf. The blood clot can either partially or completely block the flow of blood in the vein. What causes deep vein thrombosis and who is at risk? DVT is more common in the elderly and the very overweight, but healthy young people can develop it as well. Some people are not born with vital ‘blood thinning’ substances and are therefore always more susceptible to blood clots. Some medicines, such as the contraceptive pill and HRT, can marginally increase the risk of developing DVT. Although anyone can develop DVT on a flight, certain people are more vulnerable, including pregnant women, people who are overweight, those whose feet don't reach the floor (because the seat puts more pressure on the backs of their legs), the elderly, smokers and those with coronary artery diseases and certain blood conditions. What are the common symptoms and complications of deep vein thrombosis?

    Biological Methods of Therapy Program.
We, at the Biological Therapy Clinic, provide an effective alternative means of curing many serious diseases including some that stymie modern conventional medicine such as; inoperable cancer and paralysis caused by severe cerbral thrombosis.
We use a holistic approach over a period of approximately one to two months that includes:
    • Biological energy therapy to restore the body's energy balance to its pre-injured state. Nutritional therapy based on dietary changes to restore the body's immune system. Colon therapy to clear out the body's accumulated poisons.
Our core medical staff, who are all citizens of Moldova, consist of a specialist-healer, a body energy information analyst and an assistant. To assist our foreign patients we also provide the services of interpreters who are fluent in various foreign languages.
Our staff is in a position to attend to the needs of our patients in the comfort of their own homes where ever that might be, although the cost of their travel, accommodation and meals must be born by the patient, with payment made in advance. Despite the inconvenience we recommend whenever possible that patients attend our clinic in Chisinau, Moldova. This will allow us to ensure the best results possible and the most trouble-free treatment. In the event of travel to our clinic, patients will be met at Chisinau International airport and we will take care of all entrance formalities for them, their attending physician(s) if that is required, and accompanying family members, and will arrange for transportation and accommodation at one of Chisinau's 4 star Western European class hotels.

Air travellers are at increased risk of DVT
Deep vein thrombosis is the formation of a blood clot in one of the deep veins of the body, usually in the leg. It is comparatively rare, affecting around one or two people in every thousand, mainly older people. What is deep vein thrombosis? Deep vein thrombosis, commonly referred to as DVT, is a disease of the circulation. It occurs most often in people who have not been able to exercise normally. Blood passing through the deepest veins in the calf or thigh flows relatively slowly: when a DVT occurs it moves so slowly that it forms a solid clot which becomes wedged in the vein. What are the symptoms? Quite often there are no symptoms at all. Where they do exist there may be pain or tenderness in the leg and raised skin temperature around the area. Sudden swelling in one leg may be the first sign. Occasionally some of the surface veins are more visible through the skin. There may also be pain on flexing the foot upwards.

'Your Health' Home 'Your Health' Topics About This Site Dictionary ... Links YOUR HEALTH: Thrombophlebitis and Deep Vein Thrombosis The body's network of veins is meant to carry blood back to the heart after it has traveled through the tissues of the body. See: 'cardiovascular system' . 'Thrombophlebitis' and 'deep vein thrombosis' are both conditions that involve the formation of a blood clot in one of the veins in the body. 'Thrombophlebitis' is a condition where a blood clot forms in one of the veins that run close to the surface of the body- often visible through the skin. 'Deep vein thrombosis' is a condition where a blood clot forms in one of the veins lying more deeply in the body - usually within the muscles. Inflammation of the vein often occurs in both conditions as well.
Thrombophlebitis In thrombophlebitis, a blood clot forms at a certain point in a vein that runs close to the surface of the body because of irritation or injury to the vein at that point. For example, thrombophlebitis may occur in a vein after an intravenous injection or infusion has been given in that vein. It may also occur as a result of irritation to a varicose vein. Symptoms of thrombophlebitis include:
    • redness, swelling and heat in the area of the vein that has been irritated or injured
