Differential equations The placement process Most students entering Rutgers-NB are required to take the Rutgers Placement Test in Mathematics. This test determines readiness for the mathematics courses offered by the Rutgers-NB Mathematics Department. Exceptions to this rule are students presenting 4 or 5 on AP Calculus exams or certain transfer students. Transfer students who have passed with a grade of C or better either a Rutgers-NB math course equivalent or an approved course at the level of first semester calculus at another post-secondary institution are exempted from taking the math placement test. I have some good advice to give any incoming Math 175 students. Going into this class, I expected the worse because of what I heard from fellow students and peers. I feared this class so much that I put it off until the end of my collegiate career. I had not taken a math class since my first semester freshman year and had not done anything related to Algebra or Calculus since my senior year of high school. So that was probably why I had my biggest fears. Before taking this class, I wish I would have known how much Algebra was a part of Calculus. I should have done some research on Calculus before I took the class, and it probably would have helped me. I did not even really think about it and nobody told me anything about it. If I would have known how much Algebra was a part of Calculus before taking this class, I could have least brushed up on my Algebra and practiced it. In addition, if I would have known that I could have audited an Algebra course to refresh my memory before taking this Calculus class. So as result of not knowing much Algebra, the first couple of weeks were tough and my grades reflected it.

Posted by Eileen on 12/18/02 Personally, and as part of a principal search and evaluation team, it is highly unlikely that you would get a principalship without putting in many years in the classroom. Principals who have not been strong teachers in the classroom lack credibility with their staff and have their hands tied when it comes to seeking cooperation or respect. A principal candidate who has been strong in the classroom and spent time in "the trenches" has the knowledge and skills to be a leader in curriculum and is skillful in developing a "team atmosphere" within their building. The principal is not a manager - the principal of a building is supposed to be an educational leader. They need to have more experience with students, curriculum, and parents, than anyone else in the building.
