  • This paper is a survey paper written for high school teachers and describing the results of various chaos games.
  • Singular Perturbations of Quadratic Maps
  • With Kresimir Josic and Yakov Shapiro In this paper we describe the global bifurcations in the family F(z) = z + c/z , i.e., the singular pertubation of z obtained by adding a pole at the origin.
  • Playing Catchup with Iterated Exponentials
  • With Kresimir Josic, Monica Moreno Rocha, Pradipta Seal, Yakov Shapiro, and Alex Frumosu In this paper we discuss an interesting phenomenon in the exponential family where certain exponential functions have orbits that cannot "catch up" with other, supposedly faster orbits.

There is an index to the men, women and children commemorated or otherwise named on them. The memorials are numbered and the four numbers which end with an "A" indicate that this is a difficult churchyard - they were late discoveries among the long grass or shrubbery. There are other oddities in the numbering for the same reason . The inscriptions developed from the extreme brevity of initials and dates in the earliest to the direct, matter-of-fact statements characteristic of the eighteenth century -Isabella Toplis/ dyed Anno Doml 1707 I TT RT (number 393). Castle, an extensive walled enclosure retaining its Norman keep, and exhibiting in its outer walls considerable evidence of Roman workmanship; Professor Haverfield, however, denies that it occupies the site of the Roman Portus Ma gnus. The church of St Mary has some fine Norman portions. It belonged to an Augustinian priory founded by Henry I. At Titchfield, 3 m. W. of Fareham, are ruins of the beautiful Tudor mansion, Place House, built on the site of a Premonstratensian abbey of the :13th century, of which there are also fragments. Farel wrote much, but usually in haste, and for an immediate purpose. He takes no rank as a scientific theologian, being a man of activity rather than of speculation or of much insight. His Sommaire was re-edited from the edition of 1534 by J. G. Baum in 1867. Others of his works (all in. French) were his treatise on purgatory (1534), on the Lord’s Prayer (1543), on the Supper (1555). He “was remarkable for boldness and energy both in preaching and prayer” (M. Young, Life of Paleario). As an orator, he was denunciatory rather than’ suasive; thus while on the one hand he powerfully impressed, on the other hand he stimulated opposition. A monument to him vvas unveiled at Neuchâtel on the 4th of May 1876. Lives of Farel are numerous; it may suffice to mention C. Ancillon, Vie de G. Farel (1691); the article in Bayle,; M. Kirchhofcr, Das Leben W. Farels (1831—1833); Ch. Schmidt, Etudes sur Farel (1834); F. Bevan, W. Parel (1893) ; J. J. Herzog, in Herzog-Hauck’s Realency
