Gustav Robert Kirchoff Königsberg 12.3.1824 - Berlino 17.10.1887 E' stato il più brillante allievo della scuola di fisica teorica dell'Università di Königsberg tenuta da F.E.Neumann , e qui, a soli venti anni, enuncia le leggi della ripartizione delle correnti nei circuiti elettrici. Si laurea nel 1847 e nel 1852 diviene professore ordinario a Heidelberg, dove determina spettroscopicamente la composizione chimica del Sole. He is also known for Kirchhoff's laws, formulated in 1845 while he was still a student, which refer to the currents and electromotive forces in electrical networks. Gustav Kirchhoff In 1845 Kirchhoff first announced Kirchhoff's laws, which allow calculation of the currents, voltages, and resistances of electrical networks. Extending the theory of the German physicist Georg Simon Ohm, he generalized the equations describing current flow to the case of electrical conductors in three dimensions. Kirchhoff, Gustav Gustav Kirchhoff (b. March 12, 1824, Knigsberg, Prussia [now Kaliningrad, Russia]d. Oct. 17, 1887, Berlin, Ger.), German physicist who, with the chemist Robert Bunsen, firmly established the theory of spectrum analysis (a technique for chemical analysis by analyzing the light emitted by a heated material), which Kirchhoff applied to determine the composition of the Sun. In 1847 Kirchhoff became Privatdozent (unsalaried lecturer) at the University of Berlin and three years later accepted the post of extraordinary professor of physics at the University of Breslau. In 1854 he was appointed professor of physics at the University of Heidelberg, where he joined forces with Bunsen and founded spectrum analysis. They demonstrated that every element gives off a characteristic coloured light when heated to incandescence. This light, when separated by a prism, has a pattern of individual wavelengths specific for each element. Applying this new research tool, they discovered two new elements, cesium (1860) and rubidium (1861). Kirchhoff went further to apply spectrum analysis to study the composition of the Sun. He found that when light passes through a gas, the gas absorbs those wavelengths that it would emit if heated. He used this principle to explain the numerous dark lines (Fraunhofer lines) in the Sun's spectrum. That discovery marked the beginning of a new era in astronomy.

Gustav Robert Kirchhoff (1824 - 1887) deutscher Physiker Gustav Kirchhoff wurde am 12. März 1824 in Königsberg geboren Er besuchte das dortige Kneiphofsche Gymnasium und legte 1842 sein Abizur ab. Im gleichen Jahr begann er noch ein Mthematik- und Physikstudium am gleichen Ort. 1847 wurde er in Königsberg mit einer Arbeit, über die später nach ihm benannten Stromverzweigungsgesetze (Kirchhoffsche Regeln) promoviert. Ein Forschungsstipendium führte in zu Gustav Magnus nach Berlin, wo er sich 1848 habilitieren konnte. Schon im Jahre 1850 bekam er ein Extraordinariat am Lehrstuhl für Experimentalphysik in Breslau. Hier lernte er Robert Bunsen kennen, der sein physikalisches Arbeitsgebiet wesentlich beeinflusste. Bunsen, der 1962 nach Heidelberg gegangen war setzte sich für Kirchhoff ein, so dass dieser 1854 ebenfalls nach Heidelberg berufen wurde. Hier lehrte er Experimentalphysik und mathematische Physik. Seine in den Jahren 1857 bis 1863, zum Teil mit Bunsen veröffentlichten Arbeiten über Wärmestrahlung und Spektralanalyse zeugen von der Fruchtbarkeit der Zusammenarbeit. Aus dieser Zeit stammen die nach ihm benannten Bunsen-Kirchhoffsche-Spektralanalyse und die Kirchhoffschen Strahlungsgesetze, die Begriffe Schwarzer Strahler und Schwarzer Körper (siehe auch Versuche und ). Estas leyes son mas notables si consideramos que el principal interés de Kirchhoff se enfoco a su trabajo pionero en espectroscopia con el connotado químico alemán Robert Bunsen. Kirchhoff nació en Konigsberg, Prusia Oriental, hijo de un abogado. Entro a la Universidad de Konigsberg a la edad de 18 años y obtuvo su doctorado cinco años después. Kirchhoffove zákony o rozvetvení prúdu sa stali základom pre výpoèet prúdov v elektrickej sieti. Bol tretím synom právneho radcu. Na univerzite v rodnom meste študoval matematiku a fyziky a už ako dvadsajedenroèný študent uverejnil svoje zákony o prúdoch a napätiach v elektrických obvodoch. Habilitoval sa na unive rzite v Berlíne roku 1848. Potom ho povolali za profesora fyziky do Wroclavi, neskôr od roku 1854 pôsobil v Heidelbergu ako profesor fyziky. Od roku 1875 viedol katedru matematickej fyziky v Berlíne. Tam pôsobil spolu s Helmholtzom. Raz ovdovel, bol dvakrá t ženatý; v posledných rokoch mu strpèila život a urýchlila smr choroba nohy po páde na schodišti. V Kirchhoffových èasoch bola berlínska univerzita významným centrom teoretickej fyziky. Schádzali sa tu fyzici z mnohých krajín. Kirchhoffa zvolili za jeho vedecké zásluhy za èlena berlínskej Akadémie vied a od roku 1862 bol aj èlenom - korešpondentom Akadémie vied v Petrohrade.
