Ate the jar of jalapenos in 2 days... olives are gone... can't keep eating ice cream, so I guess it's a cereal nite. Watched Paramedics, and the Lifeline episode tonite was pretty interesting. Life (and health) in New Orleans. Dang, didn't know they still got "Hansens" disease around here, otherwise known as Leprosy . Interesting. The medicine doctor - gathering all of those herbs for treatments... OH! and Poke , as in "Poke Salad Annie" - I had no idea that was real. I mean, I thought it was just words in a song, ya know? Then, I noticed the tests on the site , so of course I had to take a few. Pretty right-on. And they explain the results in depth. Not that I'm up for advice about how to change bad habits or behavior right now... have to be a willing participant for that. Alrighty, s'pose I should go to bed so I can work like a fool tomorrow on everything I didn't do today. ya, I took the "procrastination" test. Like I didn't know the answers to that one!

It is a notorious cause of blindness, nasal, hand and feet deformities with neurotrophic ulceration and neurotrophic ankle and feet joint changes. It is widespread in the world especially in Tropical Africa, South and Central America, India and other parts of Asia. In recent years it has declined worldwide with introduction of multiple drug chemotherapy, intensified treatment and improved living conditions. In 1986, 5.4 million patients were registered worldwide and this fell to 2.4 million by 1994. The leprosy burden drops by 68% in the global prevalence since 1985. Leprosy elimination in the Western Pacific region is feasible with following statistics in 1994: 39,911 registered cases, with a prevalence rate of 0.25/10,000, down from a prevalence rate of 1.7/10,000 in 1985 12,694 new cases with a detection rate of 0.08/10,000 over 95% Multi-drug therapy (MDT) coverage in 1994 (8.8% in 1986)

Full Text: Health, Labor and Welfare Minister Chikara Sakaguchi submitted at Friday's regular Cabinet meeting his ministry's first white paper since the former Labor Ministry and the former Health and Welfare Ministry were integrated in April. The 2001 white paper, immediately approved by the Cabinet, highlighted recent shifts in demographics in addition to observed social changes in the role of the family, household composition and employment practices. Subtitled "Toward a Health, Labor and Welfare Administration that Supports the Lifetime Independence of Individuals," the paper emphasized that a social-security system was needed as a safety net to support the marginalized.
