She also serves as an adjunct professor of biochemistry at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of the New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She graduated from Queens University in Ontario, Canada, spent two years teaching secondary school in Sierra Leone, and then attended Temple University, from which she received her doctorate in biochemistry.
