Product Description
The Junky Road seeks to provide a comprehensive road map for the average person to use as a guide to navigate out of extreme credit card difficulties with. It also seeks to provide an overview and historical perspective for people to relate their financial problems to, using the history of coal mining in the Anthracite Region of the Wyoming Valley of Pennsylvania as the historical comparison.

This detailed analysis of the procedures and processes of credit card defaults, lawsuits, judgments, and other associated repercussions of credit card problems also provides insights into applying mental health techniques useful for the average person beset by a barrage of creditors. The brutality of the coal mining history provides perspective-and realism.

The author, Pennsylvania attorney Eugene C. Kelley, of the KPWS Law P.C. law firm, has drawn upon a lifetime of experience in writing this book. The detailed sections regarding bankruptcy and negotiating with finance companies are all drawn from his actual professional experience, which is extensive.

The book is a series of vignettes about ordinary people suffering from bad debt problems, parables that provide real life examples of people who have made mistakes, failed, and sometimes triumphed over adversity. Each story explains some aspect of the world of financial and legal problems that are often incomprehensible to the layperson, but in this format are easily understood.

The book draws upon the writer's vast professional and personal human expererience. One of thirteen children who grew up working through a lot of the adversity associated with growing up in small coal mining towns in Pennsylvania in the 1970's, Eugene Kelley has experienced a lot, and this shines through in a book about human beings dealing with human and financial problems during one of America's most troubled periods in history. The book offers some excellent advice in an easily understood format, but offers no miracle cures. People who wish to climb out of whatever economic trap they have fallen into, for whatever reason, can use this book as a guide for doing so in a sane, rational, and dignified way that will limit the collateral damage which so often occurs in our personal lives when our financial problems go out of control. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask
every parent who has a child in college should purchase this book as a birthday present.

every person out there who is going through their day worried sick about the credit card mountain they've racked up should read this book.

there is a disconnect going on in our culture between how credit cards really work and the people that use them.this book makes the connection and allows us to understand how the massive, plastic installment debt system really works.

and as an added plus, it is extremely well written and enjoyable.attorney kelley writes with balance and an authority born in experience.

Product Description

A brilliant new guide to understanding the origins of codependence and the path to recovery by a nationally recognized authority on dependency and addiction.

In this fresh new look at codependence, Pia Mellody traces the origins of this illness back to childhood, describing a whole range of emotional, spiritual, intellectual, physical, and sexual abuses. Because of these earlier experiences, codependent adults often lack the skills necessary to lead mature lives and have satisfying relationships.

Recovery from codependence comes from clearing up the toxic feelings left over from childhood and learning to reparent oneself by intervening on the adult symptoms of codependence. Central to Mellody's concept is the idea of the "precious child" that needs healing within each adult. She creates a framework for identifying codependent behavior and describes an effective approach to recovery that includes both therapy and self-help processes. Designed to be used with her new workbook for codependents, Breaking Free, this is a powerful tool for understanding the nature of codependence.

5-0 out of 5 stars Recovery Offers Hope!
This book was for me the first time I really started to understand the contention in my marriage and my own anger. I am now a recovering addict and I feel hope for healing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Read it in less than 7 days!
I haven't ever read a self-help book this fast ever.Really, really good for those of us who struggle with relationships.

5-0 out of 5 stars Life is hard enough
A brilliant book to help anyone better understand themselves and partner. A honest and challengingprocess of rescuing each other from toxic relationship situations. My psychologist recommended i read it to stop dancing the same Damaging routine over and over again with my partner. It was time for us to finally accept the addiction, face the music and free our mind, body and spirit frompre-existing rubbish cluttering our whole person. So far the strategies are working for our whole family.

5-0 out of 5 stars Recommended to all my sponsees
I've been in recovery for sex and love addiction for 14 plus years. When I first read this book, about 12 years ago, it blew me away.I've recommended to people ever since and their reaction is nearly always the same..."Oh my god,now I understand why I have such pain and difficulty in relationships!"
While the book will explain the addictive nature of love addiction in the first couple of chapters, it is but a tool to move beyond the shadowy existence so many of us live, to a full life of love, joy and fulfillment. There is a 12 step group that has helped me along this road. I could not have advanced with out the support of other addcits in recovery. If you are serious about getting off the treadmill, you'll find that group. Hope your journey is as rewarding.

4-0 out of 5 stars speaking from my success
i was one of those people who was addicted, but did't know it...then came this book.It was both a blessing and a curse.A curse because i realized i had a problem bigger than myself and comming to terms with an addiction is not easy(which is why admitting to your problem is the first step). A blessing because it let me know that there was help.It identifyed my every symptom, my every emotion and my every devestation.
Most of the book describes what love addiction is,how it is developed, and the various ways in which it ruins your life with out you even reliazing it.The author gives lots of examples, many including her owm experiences.I give the book 4 stars for beeing such an important eye opener and teaching me so much about this emotional illness. The reason i don't give it 5 stars is because the "work-book" in the end is not enough to help you break the addiction on it's own.If you are really interested in moving past your addiction i would recomend adding to your collection her book + workbook "facing codependence".even in this book she will tell you that at the heart of the addiction is codependence, which you need to overcome.
Love addiction is most of all Painfull and isolating.Your relationships go so wrong so fast that it really takes a toll on your heart...to be honest there were times when i thought that i must have been born wrong, that there was something so inately wrong with me that i was destined to only find heart break.I had decided to not even try anymore because there was no point when they all ended the same:with my heart crushed.
In order to encourage others to get help i will admit that in the past my longest relationship lasted 5 months(most averaging about 3) and only the first month was good because after that a very intense hell would break loose.I felt out of control. But after Pia's help and with my persistence to get better i have now been in a HEALTHY,LOVING, relationship with someone for more than a year :0)and emotionally i am more stable than i have ever been in my 26 years of life. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book!
Great book that outlines and helps one to understand a lot of the fundamentals to addiction. Some of it is a little intellectual but then returns back to earth to help individuals create a more stable life for themselves emotionally, physically and spiritually.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bring the Light of knowledge...
We often forget how much we all are attached to our own behavioral and psychological habits. But more often we find that it is very challenging to face our own vices of ignorance which continuously divide ourselves from the most natural state of mind, Bliss. This book truly invites the readers to the most profound Vedic guiding light which can uplift anyone's precious life with its most NATURAL, easy and comfortable techniques. I was very pleased with the simplicity of the author's approach to the physiological mind-body coordination and his "manual" to re-program one's own consciousness.

If you are looking for an EASY and NATURAL way to re-program your-old-self and ready to make a positive change to your old habits, this book would be your must-to-have to start with!"Bring the Light of knowledge and the darkness of oneself and one's surroundings will go away." -Maharishi Mehesh Yogi.

5-0 out of 5 stars I just want to get to "normal"...
Spiritual Recovery Manual

We all want to get beyond "one day at a time" and put addiction behind us. This book can take you beyond recovery to wholeness.

A good book for those in recovery and his or her loved ones. Very methodically describes the stages of spiritual recovery, and the tools available to help you.

If you're going to do the work of recovering, you might as well have the best advice you can get to help you on your way. In my experience, this is it.

5-0 out of 5 stars An important new way of thinking about recovery
The yogic techniques Williams describes in "The Spiritual Recovery Manual" are practical and surprisingly down-to-earth, presented in a way that tends to resonate with everyday experience. These subtle mental and physiological roots of recovery provide valuable models for recovery not available in traditional, "Western" addiction/dependency literature.

I admit that when I picked up the book, I thought it might be something lightweight and fluffy, filled with affirmations and good moods but little substance. But it's packed (and I use the word advisedly) with practical techniques (some of which I have since tried and found quite effective) from meditation to preventative Ayurvedic medicine to balanced, balancing diet tips, to architecture (of all things). Williams throws in a surprising amount of solid research on the recovery techniques, which a lot of people will find reassuring. I was particularly interested in his societal framework for addiction ("Healing Society"), in which he ties individual addiction to addictive socities (like America's), and offers solutions to create balance and recovery at that level, as well.

I found this toolset to be of real use in issues around being an adult child of an alcoholic parent, not only in the strict definition of recovery as it's traditionally understood, but -- and this is the great gift of the book -- in taking my recovery to a broader, and more profound level, towards spiritual enlightenment: the "Total Recovery" with which the book culminates.

I hope this book gets into the hands of people in recovery, and particularly that it's read by recovery professionals: I think "The Spiritual Recovery Manual" represents -- yes, I have to say it -- a paradigm shift in thinking about recovery. ... Read more
