Product Description
Angela Hankins Sachs has suffered with endometriosis for more than 20 years. At least 17 of those years were spent in darkness. Not knowing that she had endometriosis and not even knowing of the condition, she at times thought the world was right, she was crazy. Doctors have been taught for years that a woman must be at least 25 years old and childless in order to have endometriosis.Sampson’s Theory is the oldest and most taught. The menstruation fluid flows backward through the fallopian tubes into the reproductive cavity.Once there the endometrium tissue implants itself and grows. Each month when hormones tell the uterus to menstruate these misplaced cells also menstruate. This can cause severe crippling pain, scar tissue, and a host of other problems. Once Angela was diagnosed she made up her mind to learn all that she could about endometriosis. The more she learned, the more she knew that she had to write this book, she had to tell her story. She had to tell the world about the darkness and depression of endometriosis. However, she also wanted to bring light and hope to all the women and young girls suffering this destroyer of life, this destroyer of mind, body, and soul. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not purchase this book!
I am a long time endometriosis sufferer and I was shocked by the quality of this book! I was expecting detailed and accurate information - this book is basically a sloppily thrown together collection of "notes" - one woman's story told in an often incoherent, gratingly whiny tone with absolutely no up-to-date information on endo!! It is also the size of a pamphlet - I would hardly call it a book! The author cites the Center for Endo Care in GA, but never mentions their (and a handful of other) surgeons' method of extracting the disease via Co2 laser - which has helped numerous sufferers and is the only way to deal with this disease in the long term (the author of this book isonly in her thirties and she has yet to deal with the numerous complications of endo). Yikes and she's whining now - just wait!

If you are looking for definitive answers and/or compassion from a fellow long term endo sufferer - do not buy this book!!! Far more accurate information can be found by simply googling "endometriosis". ... Read more

Endometriosis is a common gynecological condition, characterised by the presence of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterine cavity. It is estimated that endometriosis affects up to 10 per cent of women during their reproductive years, causing debilitating pain and infertility. The aetiology of this condition remains poorly understood, however, evidence suggests that certain immune factors are almost certainly playing crucial roles in the pathogenesis and progression of this inflammatory condition. This book reviews research on endometriosis including endometriosis of the urinary tract; aromatase inhibitors as a new therapeutic option for endometriosis; endometriosis and its implications for fertility; laboratory and imaging diagnoses of endometriosis; and, various treatment options for endometriosis and others. ...
