This book is one of the best that I have read in regards to FMS and nutrition.Buy it so that you can refer back to it time and again.

Dr. Michael L. Johnson author of "What Do You Do When the Medications Don't Work--A Non-Drug Treatment of Dizziness, Migraine Headaches, Fibromyalgia, and Other Chronic Conditions".

5-0 out of 5 stars An exciting revelation for fibromyalgia sufferers
As a fellow sufferer of Fibromyalgia Syndrome, I read Christine
Craggs-Hinton's first and xcellent book 'Living with Fibromyalgia' with great admiration, and eagerly awaited the arrival of its sequal / her second book 'The Fibromyalgia Healing Diet'. I was not disappointed. Christine takes the reader simply and fluently through the reasons for good nutrition (especially in terms of Fibromyalgia), and how to go about it, including giving details of a varied - and enjoyable - wholefood diet. She also includes details of an initial detoxification programme, plus hints about a number of nutritional supplements most likely to be eneficial to sufferers of FMS. There is an informative chapter regarding substances to avoid. The second half of the book is devoted to healthy and useful recipes, which can only tempt the reader to 'have a go'!

I felt the book had a positive tone throughout. As a 'holistic health adviser ' and a wholefooder of over 20 years standing, I read this book in a somewhat hypercritical way; as such I spotted a couple of things with which I was not entirely happy - eg I could not condone the use of golden syrup in one of the recipes, or the use of of microwave ovens (convenient though these may be). However, these were very minor disagreements only, and when taken as a whole, I believe this book to be an excellentcomplement to Christine's first book. Believing as I do, that eating the best possible diet is of paramount importance - indeed, the foundation on which to build - for any sufferer of FMS (in fact, any sufferer of anything), I fully recommend this book to anyone who wishes to take the first steps towardsrebuilding their health. It will be an exciting revelation to anyone who normally eats the average 'western diet', and who wishes to help themselves.

I recently gave a 'Health and Wholefoods' talk to my local FMS group - there is now a super book to back this up. I congratulate and thank Christine! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Has It All
A comprehensive guide on Fibro, what it is, how to treat it--oops--no, the focus is how you treat it. This book has all the tools for you to be in control of your fibro and your life. You can pick and choose and slowly or quickly incorporate them, depending on your tolerance for change. For "health nuts" Cabrera's book will hit the spot; for others with not so healthy habits, it is an invaluable guide to lowering your dependence on drugs, pointing out what you unknowingly do to hurt yourself, and countless ways to improve your health.
Part II is devoted to the practical issues; she wisely starts with diet, then moves to herbal therapies and closes with self care. Each chapter is didactically structured so you are drawn into the subject smoothly and convinced, ready for change!
Chanchal Cabrera puts her words where her mouth is (that didn't sound right!)and provides a whole chapter of resources, where you can go for further help, and for implementing a herbal therapy. Although appendix two is a long list of herbs, how to use, etc, I found that I am more comfortable with a reputable practitioner who can design the herbal treatment and oversee my progress (under sources.)
The author's own personal experience, coupled with her impressive academic and professional background make this a very credible source. My wholehearted recommendation on this read.
    Cheers and stay healthy!

4-0 out of 5 stars My favorite fibro book!
I was diagnosed nearly 8 years ago so I am no novice concerning fibro.I have half a dozen books which have guided my progress in learning how to live with the "syndrome" [it can't be called a disease until they figure out what causes it, how about THAT].I love this book.It isn't the most basic, but it is the most easy to read and use.Lots of very practial tips that the author has used herself or has been told about by real fibro sufferers. She understands and she offers hope.We can lead full and happy lives and she shows the way.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Fibromyalgia Relief Book: 213 Ideas for Improving Your Quality of Life
Since being diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I have searched for books that advise and explain the condition. I have used the library and bookstores to narrow the choices down for purchase. The author of this book has fibromyalgia and is a leader in educating everyone about it.The practical advice is sound and always reassuring.I purchased 2 copies of this book.I bought the second one for a co-worker I suspect has fibromyalgia. That's how inpressed I am with this author.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pain relief
This book was extremely helpful in finding alternative ways to relieve pain and increase mental power over the negative emotions related to Fibro.I plan to refer to it from time to time to keep my perspective.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best investment ever!
Having been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 1996 I would not have expected to learn boatloads of material from this book. But, much to my surprise, and with the giant library of FMS literature already owned, I DID learn more than a boatload, of knowledge! I was hoping to learn a few new facts here and there. I sat down and flipped it open to see what the inside was like, and to my astonishment, I found I could not stop long enough to start reading at the beginning of that chapter let alone the beginning of the book. I could not believe that I could have learned so much information after all this time. I have been a host in a support chat for years and still found I missed out on vital tips and information. The greatest part about this, well one of them, was when Dr. Williamson discussed a topic that is a problem to most, then she also had a positive reaction to the situation. I was thrilled to read ideas to help some of the topics I couldn't find help with for years! One of the best ideas in this book, that is missing in many, is a Resources Section, one written in common English! I have already started to use the resources today. I called for some catalogs for items that I didn't know where to find nor from companies that I knew nothing about.
This book is not for the newly diagnosed or nearly new but it is for EVERY person, male or female, adult or child/teen. I even recommend this book for the family or friends that give support to a person with FMS, I mean emotional and mental not financial. I also recommend this book for kids whose parent, sibling or other relative has this. What a great way to find a positive way to get the kids and others to do something for you that you need done and without feeling uneasy about it.
One great thing I read was not having to say, "No, I can't" about something. I can now say, "I am not able to do that at this time." Period. What a feeling of freedom of not having that "I can't" hanging over my head day in and day out! I love the idea of not "having to" give up my bed when someone comes to visit. She is right, that is why there is a guest room and a sofa, not to mention nice hotels nearby that are reasonably priced too!
I am very excited to sit down and read this book but then take it one step further and put her ideas into action in order to really improve the quality of my life, just like the title says! This book was worth every penny and if someone could only have one book about fibromyalgia, I would recommend this one. This has plenty of day to day ways to make life easier while teaching long term changes also! I hope you enjoy this as much as I do!

5-0 out of 5 stars Practical and easy to read

I found this book to be hugely informative and helpful. The authors give readers information from both the physicians' and patients' point of view. Definitely recommended for FM and CFS patients and the people who care about them.

2-0 out of 5 stars This book not recommended
I found this book to be very disappointing. All this book basically is is interviews with doctors and patients in regards to different treatment alternatives. If you are trying to TREAT fibromyalgia, i definitely do not recommend this book.If you really want someones gripes and groans about fibromyalgia you can get that point of view FREE on line on Fibromyalgia web sites. If you want alternative treatments options- try The Fibromyalgia Nutrition Guide, although this book is all about nutrition, it is very easy to us and very helpful- All us fibromyalgics know about homeopathic stuff already such as massage and Alternative Treatments just reiterates that and has patients and doctor points of view on Massage, Chiropractic care, Etc....

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb Resource!

    Product Description
Physician and author David Dryland, M.D., helps patients lead fibromyalgia-free lives through a revolutionary approach to the diagnosis, treatment and cure of fibromyalgia. The Fibromyalgia Cure clearly explains the science of fibromyalgia and includes a simple diagnostic test to determine if you have fibromyalgia.

The Fibromyalgia Cure blends traditional western medicine with classical mind-body medicine, giving patients multiple options for the treatment of this illness. Dr. Dryland details groundbreaking research that for the first time links fibromyalgia to chronic dopamine depletion in the central nervous system. He clearly explains how patients can understand what is causing their particular case of fibromyalgia, and how to reverse the progression of this illness naturally. He also describes his success with prescribing medications that are specifically designed to simulate the role of dopamine in the central nervous system, greatly reducing or eliminating fibromyalgia symptoms.

The Fibromyalgia Cure provides comprehensive answers to these straightforward, but previously difficult to answer fibromyalgia questions: What is it? What are the causes? What can it do to you? What can you do about it?

The book provides patients with a step-by-step process for understanding and then treating fibromyalgia. Also included in the book, is an Appendix for Healthcare Providers. This Appendix will help patients and healthcare providers work together to identify the best course of treatment for their particular case of fibromyalgia. ... Read more

Dr. Dryland has written a book that brings together much of the current research about Fibromyalgia along with his own intimate understanding of the syndrome. He presents a revolutionary approach from a western physician in that he not only presents findngs on new medication, but also discusses how our thoughts can influence what happens in our bodies. I would have like to have seen a bit more of the science that he discusses, and some instruction on how to question the fight or flight response in addition tothe tease of his next book.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Fibromyalgia Cure
This is a book that could/will save thousands of fibro patients a lot of pain and foggy brains. My wife has severe fibromyalgia. It was so difficult to watch her suffer after I realised that she wasn't faking pain.At first I just thought she was lazy because she was in bed a lot saying she was in pain and had absolutely no energy. It got worse as the years passed and I got fed up.So I took her to a pain specialist over 200 miles from home. After two visits he diagnosed her as having fibromyalgia...this unknown affliction that was affecting more and more people, usually women. No one could explain it accurately. This book DOES explain it accurately and scientifically. We waited nine months to get in to see Dr. David Dryland. After her appointment I suddenly knew that this was a REAL affliction but now there WAS A CURE.She started on Mirapex 3/7/05 and six weeks later she has NO PAIN!After reading this book everything that had been happening was so clear. It helped me get her to this point and the last seminar Dr. Dryland held helped me personally (The content will be in his next book "Taking Control of YOur Fight or Flight Response - An Instruction Manual to the Human Brain" coming out in July 2005.) as well as gave my wife a way to keep the pain away forever without medication later on.If you have Fibro or your spouse, sibling, or anyone you know has it, help them by reading this book.Soon there will be no fibro sufferers left...if they are smart enough to read this book. Thanks Dr. Dryland.

    Product Description
It is estimated that 4-8 million people in the United States sufferwith Fibromyalgia. Another one million also have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Some statistics state that Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgiamay directly affect 5% of the world's population.

I am one of the individuals in this growing epidemic. In 1997, after achaotic year of intense medical and psychological testing, I was diagnosedwith Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. I spent muchof the last ten years in deep denial feeling alone, confused, frustrated, and angry. It has taken me a great deal of soul searching, but I believethat today I am a better, more centered person because of my experiences.

I've never been someone who dictates advice, so my book provides worksheets you can develop to tailor your personal responses to symptoms and crises. It is the good, the bad, and the ugly of my personal journey that I share with you, my fellow Fibromites. My hope is simple, that you will find solace and renewed hope in my words.

What People Are Saying About Strategies

5-0 out of 5 stars A valuable resource of various means of coping with fibromyalgia and stress that leads to exhaustion.
As Tami Brady suffered from the painful and peace-haunting symptoms of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, she lost control of her life. To mask her fears, she pressed harder on herself in her field work as an archeology student, trying to convey that she was strong as ever. But one day, when she collapsed in the field and was raised to her feet by her friends, she heard the most important thing from one of the students; that she was human just like them. In her latest book Strategies: A Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia Journey (Loving Healing Press, Michigan, 2008), Tami Brady tells the story of transformation as a person after her painful experience of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. In a very important sense, Dr. Brady found herself a more confident and wiser person even to the point of thanking the two diseases for visiting her and making this shift in personality possible.

Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome are quite prevalent with no exact cause or cure known so far and often being wrongly diagnosed as one or more of several other disorders with similar symptoms. Strategies explores the nature of these two debilitating diseases via the author's personal journey through them. Realizing the hazards of passively receiving treatment with prescribed medicine, Tami started to formulate her own treatment strategies, targeting both specific symptoms and general well-being. Thus we learn about three main strategies that every patient of these diseases can benefit from: physical support, stress management, and natural medication. Tami's book is a valuable resource of various means of coping with fibromyalgia and stress that leads to exhaustion.

Strategies also includes a complete treatment plan in form of the many pages to be used by readers who are patients of fibromyalgia and/or chronic fatigue syndrome. By presenting her own treatment plan as a model, the book makes self-treatment easy and simple enough to be used with confidence by any and all readers. For every health conscious individual, and particularly for those who want to win their battle over stress and fatigue, Tami Brady's book is highly recommended.

I admire Brady for telling her story in Strategies: A Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia Journey.I found many of her experiences to be interesting and comforting.I especially liked the list of resources at the back of the book and the inspirational quotes that open each chapter.
However, I did not find the charts and tables which are meant to help with executing the suggested strategies to be helpful, but rather wasted space. Moreover, while I am an advocate for trying alternative therapies and treatments, I found Brady's relentless suggestion to practice Reiki aggravating.Overall, this book is geared toward a Canadian audience - as an American I wasn't familiar with some of the drugs and medicaments that were suggested.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent choice for those who want to overcome what ails them
To be faced with a rare disorder is a lonely thing. "Strategies: A Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia Journey" is an inspirational guide to those who have either of these debilitating diseases that zap the energy out of its sufferer. Tami Brady has dealt with it for much of her life, and relays her story hoping to motivate others not to let the disorder control their life. "Strategies" is an excellent choice for those who want to overcome what ails them.

Tami Brady's newest book, "Strategies: A Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia Journey" is excellent. The book starts out with Tami explaining how she came to be diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. The author explains how the process was lengthy: at first she had undergone all sorts of blood tests. The doctors had ruled out chemical imbalances, cancer, diabetes, lupus, and a whole variety of other conditions and they were still stumped. It was at this point they sent her to a Neurologist to rule out MS or Multiple Sclerosis, which they did.

This process can be very unnerving for an individual, I know because my wife has gone through the same process. It's just like the author explains. My wife, Colleen, went from doctor to doctor trying to find out what was wrong with her.It took quite some time until we found a very good doctor that took the time needed to diagnose my wife with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia.Unfortunately, my wife was also diagnosed with Parkinson's.It wasn't until Tami went to a sports medicine specialist that she was told she had Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The process the author went through is very similar for many other people to find out what is wrong with them.Once the author received her diagnoses of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia she went into denial for almost a decade.

Once the author accepted her condition and stopped seeing it as a weakness, she was able to move on.The author discusses several ways to treat Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. She states there are vitamins, herbs, over the counter drugs, prescription drugs which the author did not use and meditation. The author uses meditation and visualization to help overcome the pain.Tami created several different meditation and visualization routines for herself, depending on how her pain was and where it was.

After reading Tami Brady's book and all the trouble my wife has gone through with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia I have to say the author has a real winner with this book.I would recommend that if you have been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, both, or if you even think you have them to buy this book. And when it comes to doctors you can see that they don't know everything. So many doctors take the quick route and blame a person's problem on weight or stress. If the author had settled for that reasoning or that kind of doctor, her life would have been very dreary. She would have no hope of ever finding out what was wrong with her and continued to think of her illness as a weakness or some kind of atonement for past wrongs. So I recommend this book to everyone with the same condition as the author.I know my wife and I enjoyed reading it.

3-0 out of 5 stars More Journey than Strategy
Every Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia patient has a unique story to tell.In Strategies: A Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia Journey, Tami Brady shares her experiences with these two debilitating illnesses.

I could see a lot of my own experiences in those of Ms. Brady.Like Ms. Brady, my illness made itself apparent after a very stressful period in my life.I also endured the frustration that came from waiting for months for a correct diagnosis. Even after I received that diagnosis, there was very little offered to me in the way of treatment options. As Ms. Brady noted: "No follow up visits. No care regime. The rest was left up to me."Many patients will see something of themselves in the author's struggle to adjust to life with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia.

The book, however, seems a little unbalanced. The first ten chapters chronicle her journey to diagnosis and accepting the limitations that come from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. The last four chapters are aimed at specific strategies for living with both conditions. These four chapters are incredibly helpful and well-organized, but they make up a very small portion of the book.

There were also many typographical and grammatical errors throughout the book. These were extremely distracting to me during my reading.I hope that these errors will be corrected in future printings.

I enjoyed reading this book and found it helpful to my own struggle - both physical and mental - that comes from living with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. As Ms. Brady states in the Foreword, "In the end, we are all changed forever. On good days, I believe for the better." ... I had just been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and didn't know much about it.My doctor recommended this book. Now I am well informed on what is going on with my body and what I can do to regain control of my life. This book is written by a Doctor who has the condition himself.. thus he can give you the ins and outs of battling with this disease/condition.I find myself referring back to this book constantly. What I really like about this book is that the information is straight forward...you are not told that you will be able to cure this condition, but what to expect, what can happen, what you can do to make yourself feel better, how to cope, drug therapies, natural/pharmaceutical supplements, etc.. If you are newly diagnosed or if you have had Fibromyalgia for some time...it's a great book for information.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Number One Choice on the Suject
The best book I've found on Fibromyalgia. Who better to write on fm than a medical doctor who both specializes in fm and actually has the disease (yes, disease) himself? As a new fm patient, I found this book to be the most comprehensive, medically sound, and practical for helping to diagnose and treat fm. It even helped with my diagnosis. Another good source is "Living Well with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia" by Mary Shomon (another patient, but not a medical doctor; however, her book seems incredibly well researched. How did she find the energy?) A warning, "Fibromyalgia for Dummies" is an imcomplete piece of fluff, a waste of paper. (See my scathing review of it.) I agree with the reviews below, "Inside Fibromyaligia" is the first choice for fm patients. Thank you Mark Pellegrino.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book Easy to Read
This book helped me understand Fibromyalgia. It is well written and broken down into easy to understand chapters. If you are new to Fibromyalgia this is the book for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
Inside Fibroy... is an awesome book that I highly recommend reading and following to anyone who suffers from fibro.I do not however recommend that anyone actually track Dr. Pellegrino down in Ohio to see him personally. It is not worth the $200 which he demands up front. You can get more out of the book.He is more concerned with the bottom line than helping his patients especailly those who travel from out of town to see him.Unlike what he says in his book he will not write a detailed letter to employers to help them understand fibro or to help the fibro patient obtain restrictions or job modifications.I would recommend showing the book to your employer. The book is very helpful, in person the doctor is not.

5-0 out of 5 stars Helpful and Fun
This book is full of practical suggestions for every facet of life with FMS - work, vacations, housework, etc. There is an illustrated series of stretching exercizes that are very helpful. I think this book is most different from others in its use of humor. If you don't have a sense of humor, you need to develop one with FMS, when "fibro-fog" becomes a way of life.
Dr. Pellegrino deserves a better editor - several typographical errors mar what is otherwise a wonderful book. ... Read more

    Product Description
Fibromyalgia is a form of chronic neuromuscular pain, a pain-amplification syndrome brought on by abnormal interactions between hormones, the immune system, neurotransmitters, and the autonomic nervous system, that afflicts six million Americans every year. Often misdiagnosed, and widely misunderstood, the majority of patients are turned away from doctors or treated for depression. This guide offers expert advice to sufferers of this painful syndrome and gives them the education they need to get the help they require but rarely get. In their earlier books, Making Sense of Fibromyalgia and All About Fibromyalgia, noted medical writer Janice Wallace and Dr. Daniel Wallace, a leading expert on this disorder, provided comprehensive guides--for both patients and professionals--to this little known and poorly understood syndrome. Now, in Fibromyalgia, the Wallaces provide an inviting and succinct version of the syndrome they have studied, laid out in clear and accessible language. The authors provide a clear, concise explanation of the syndrome and its symptoms, and also outline the recent advances in treatments. Fibromyalgia addresses a desperate need for concise, accessible information on this syndrome and offers reassurance to patients and their families. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful info
I have many Fibro books. This one has given me information that the others have not. Don't get me wrong when you've read one you basically have read them all, but this one has a few new items in it that the others do not.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent balance between layman explanations and medical terminology
This is the first book I have purchased since my FMS diagnosis. It explains things very well, and covers a wide array of treatment options and loads of study information ranging from physical therapies, to medicines, and even to alternative treatment options such as herbal tinctures.
After reading this book, I was able to express to my family, especially my daughter, what I was going thru, how it felt, and identify my needs more accurately for a more engaged lifestyle. I realized I was not a lost cause, that the syndrome was not all in my head, and there are proactive measures I can take to improve my life.
Anyone who is serious about really wanting to understand the mechanics of the syndrome, co-existing and similar illnesses which are easier to explain to others, and have a need to understand the syndrome itself should read this book.
Finishing this book reassured me that there is hope if you are willing to accept pacing yourself with realistic goals to improve your life. Despite my excellent medical care, I previously felt more as if I had "whining female syndrome" rather than something real which can be and needs to be treated.
It does get technical in parts of the book, but was well within my ease of understanding all of the author's information, and left me with a feeling of hope and positive well being I have not experienced in years.

4-0 out of 5 stars Concise Book Great for Patients & Family
I loved this book. As a FMS sufferer of 2 years now I'm still at times struggling to cope and understand and accept this illness. This book was great, it was written in such a clear consise mannerthat didn't talk down to me! This book is wonderful also for sharing with family and friends when they have questions. It doesn't overwhelm you with tons of overly detailed information. If you want that you can get "Fibromyalgia and Chronic Myofascial Pain: A Survival Manual" (2nd Edition) by Devin J. Starlanyl which is the bible on FMS. I love Devin's books too, but they can be quite mind boggling reading fora friend or relative who wants to know more about the illness without overexposure! *LOL*

As a former librarian and researcher by nature (I had to quit my beloved job due to the severity of FMS along with arthritis, migraines, PCOS, etc) I have read more than twenty some books on FMS/CFIDS, living with chronic illnesses, etc and this book along with Cladia Craig Marek's "Fibromyalgia the First Year" has become one of my two favorites! The writing is so easy to understand and I even found out new information that I hadn't come across before on medications, symptoms and new theories on what's behind the cause of FMS.

Do make this book part of your personal library on FMS. It is qutie definetly worth the cost!

1-0 out of 5 stars I would NOT recommend this book to ANYONE
Fibromyalgia is a confusing syndrome as it is. I was looking for a guide for my family and what I got instead was a book that, contradicts everything my doctors and other reputable authors and experts on fibromyalgia have said or written. The author obviously hasnt done much research on the issue. Anyone that has done any research into fibromyalgia knows that we have TENDER points, not TRIGGER points, the author mentions several times TENDER points injections as a pain remedy. I could go on and on about this book but I wont. Instead I suggest you read "The Fibromyalgia Advocate" by Dr. Devin Starlanyl before you read this book. She is not only and author/M.D. but she lives with fibromyalgia herself, and writes from experience. I feel that if I were to give this book to my family, they would be even more confused about my syndrome than they were before, and probably less sympathetic/understanding.

    3-0 out of 5 stars .
I would give the book more stars if it was openly listed as an update of their earlier book, "Making Sense of Fibromyalgia." There is very little difference in the two books. On it's own, it's a good resource for understanding current thoughts on the causes for the symptoms, medical and complementary treatments, and ways to minimize its effect on your life. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars So Helpful!
Reading this book was like sitting down for a long chat with someone who genuinely cared about me and who understood me.It is full of wisdom, humour, antecdotes, and practical suggestions to help those who have these diseases cope with them.I can see people returning to it again and again, consulting different chapters depending on their need at the moment. The advice is practical and considerate. The range of subjects covered (emotional and physical needs, medication advice, how to talk to a doctor, and how to understand lab tests are just a few!) is immense and will be useful in all sorts of situations. The suggestions are given as suggestions and not mandates, which I also appreciated.I particularly loved the suggested daily diary in the Appendix that would help someone chronicle and study what exactly makes them feel worse or better. It is excellent and thorough. If you have these diseases or love someone who does, buy the book and be prepared to learn, laugh, cry and grow in your understanding.Great job!

This book is for everyone.Well written and reader friendly, it is useful not only for people who suffer from CFS or Fibromyalgia, but also for those who know people who do.It is valuable for any person who has undergone medical tests for vague symptoms and received no specific diagnosis or treatment plan. This book invites the reader to formulate an attitude adjustment about illness of any kind and is filled with information about tests, medications, and nutrition as well as a lot of good common sense about things that affect us all such as sleep, exercise and stress.A healthy person will learn techniques on how to live better but also how to have compassion for people who struggle with illness. Those of us who are not privileged to have a medical background will find this book sufficeintly technical to be helpful, simple enough to understand and practical enough to apply.Every library should have a copy.

This book was a long time coming.Women have been suffering for many many years with these symptoms and no doctor could explain them or at least give them the assurance that they were really sick and not mentally ill or a hypchondriac. This book has helped me immensely and I would recommend it to any woman who has the feeling she knows something is wrong with her but no doctor has been able to help her.It will give woman who suffer from both CFS or Fibromyalgia their life back!

5-0 out of 5 stars 34 Names for One Set of Symptoms
If you check out the cover of this book, you will see 34 names that have all been given to the same set of symptoms: pain, foggy thinking, lack of energy, and 83 more symptoms listed in the book. No one knows for sure what causes the symptoms for any of these diseases.

People have reported these symptoms, but doctors, employers, and loved ones have not believed them.

That's the great message of this book. The pain is real. The foggy thinking is real. The lack of energy is real. We are not alone. Others have had the same problems and learned to cope with the disease, whatever its name.

Nancy Fowler and Lisa Ball have put together a practical book that describes the problems associated with this set of diseases and then offers solutions. You can see that they have been helping others for a long time. They talk about medical tests and how to advocate for appropriate lab work. They discuss traditional and alternate therapies, medications, nutrition, exercise, and sleep. I may not agree with every bit of the book (I think they should have included Emotional Freedom Techniques), but overall it is a really helpful set of ideas. I highly recommend it. ... Read more
