Heart Sounds and Murmurs Across the Lifespan defines the concepts needed to learn or review cardiac auscultation. The combination of audio (available on either CD or audiocassette) and text explains how to identify and interpret normal and common abnormal heart sounds. Some heart sounds are reproduced on a heart sound simulator, allowing for a clear, crisp grasp of specific, individual sounds. Others are recorded from real patients to distinguish between similar heart and lung sounds, and to help the listener select the heart sounds from the auditory milieu. Covers the distinct heart sounds (S1 through S4) first, then graduates the listener to more complex sounds and murmurs. Builds upon the individual heart sounds by including end-of-chapter reinforcement in more than 170 self-learning, "unknown" heart sounds exercises and questions with answers. Also groups extraneous sounds around which normal heart sounds they are likely to be heard, i.e., "sounds around S1". Great book but A cassette??
The book is good. But be aware the audio is a horrible cassette. I don't even own a cassette player. Thus, the purpose of listening to the sounds is lost. DON'T BUY THIS! Tedious Read
I am currently reading this book. I found I LOVE periodic black novels and there are soo very few(Beverly Jenkins is the only other author I know of)
I am finding the book slow and hard to follow, and I am finding it hard to grasp the concept, there is no explanation of the lead male Roget's character as to his intentions is one thing that makes no sense. With all the wording in this book, why then was there no provision for the man to express himself? I guess I am saying there is no clear sides to this story. As I said I am finding it hard to follow and confusing.

Refreshing Read
I enjoyed this book just as I did her other book "Shadows on the Bayou". I thought the book could have been much shorter with some of the details. Lauren got on my nerves sometimes because she was always the victim but in the end she gain a lot of strenth and courage. Roget I could have him strangled the way he treated Lauren but all in all I thought the book a pretty good read. It's good to read African American novels set back in the 1800's in another country. I wish we had more authors as Patricia Vaugh and Beverly Jenkins.

A Lovely Book
As an African American who is also a Christian, it is very hard to find books that represent me as one or both, but this book did it! It is truly a pager turner and offers a great history lesson on Haiti, Frederick Douglas, and Paris,France. I couldn't put it down! It was wonderful to read on the unfolding of Lauren and Roget's love. Although the book starts out to be a slow read, that quickly changes,and once it does, you're sure to stay up all night reading it! Kudos to Patricia VAughn fo her wonderful work!...

This is a Wonderful Read!
I read "Shadows on the Bayou" and found Patricia Vaughn to be a wonderful writer. I search for over a year to find a copy of the book "Murmur of Rain".Thanks to Amazon I was able to purchase a good used copy off thier web site.It was worth the wait!This book was as good as "Shadows on the Bayou" I Like Patricia's style of writing and how the two books have totaly different themes yet tell a story about the history of the french-black-haiti people of color....When a woman loves a man for the first time she is unable to see the "true" colors of her situation.Think on that for a few "ticks".Everybody, If you can find the book read it!
