This book is the view of ischemic heart disease from an internationally acclaimed physician-scientist. It includes a clear description of ischemic heart disease and atherosclerosis from basic mechanisms to pathophysiologyand treatment. The discussion of coronary physiology is particularly clearand rich of informations not easily found in the cardiology literature. Theauthor has a provocative vision of the mechanisms leading to myocardialinfarction, with a particular focus on non-traditional risk factors and onthe role of inflammation. Although some of the informations provided are abit dated, (the book was published in 1995), the aim of the author ismainly to give a "method" of analysing basic and clinical data inorder to produce new clinical investigations. This book is a must foranybody working in clinical research and is also highly recommended forclinical fellows who wants a textbook which helps to to think with theirminds instead of a traditional cardiology textbook. ...
