27 years later and it still rules!!!
This was one of the highest selling albums of the 80's! This album is a must have for any hair metal fan!

Brings back old memories
I bought this CD because it brought back many childhood memories and I was not disappointed. Pretty much exactly as I remembered and the songs are still great. If you listened to Def Lepard growing up, then you know this is a must have. I'm glad I made the decision to pick up a piece of my past.

Pyromania es el disco definitivo de Def Leppard
Hablar de "Pyromania" puede resultar repetitivo, pero éste disco es definitivamente el que lanzó a la fama y a lo más alto a los ingleses "Def Leppard", no sólamente por su gran éxito en ventas y su masiva aparición en el naciente "MTV", sino por la calidad en la producción impecable de Robert John "Mutt" Lange, quién venía de grabarles también su anterior "High and Dry" de 1981, además de 3 discos con AC/DC, y el aclamado "4" de "Foreigner", haciendo una cadena de discos que marcaron época y que se encuentran entre lo más destacado del Rock.

Este disco comienza las grabaciones con su formación original, la cual sufre su primera sacudida con la salida del guitarrista Pete Willis durante la grabación, debido a su falta de compromiso, y al no poder realizar solos de guitarra convincentes durante la misma, entrando en su lugar Phil Collen, proveniente del grupo "Girl", quién de inmediato se adaptó al grupo, y a la forma cuidadosa del productor, para terminar las canciones, describir uno a uno los temas es interminable, ya que aún siguen siendo himnos del Hard Rock ("Rock Rock (Till You Drop)", "Photograph", "Too Late For Love", "Foolin'" y "Rock of Ages") son todos inmensos y siguen dando la vuelta al mundo por haber dado vida a toda una generación de grupos y de discos de un género, que más de 25 años después, sigue manteniendo despierto el interés por todo lo hecho durante ese periodo, abanderando junto con Iron Maiden y Judas Priest lo mejor del rock británico.

Este es uno de los mejores discos que se grabaron jamás, siendo el antecesor de su exitoso "Hysteria" de 1987, y el que definió el sonido de la banda para hacerlos "leyendas del rock ". No te cansas nunca de escucharlo, para mí, al igual que para la mayoría de los seguidores del rock, no nos queda más qué decir: "Gracias Def Leppard!"

A Must Own
If you don't own this CD, you are living under a rock. This is one of the best rock CD's of all time. I would rank it in the top 100 of rock n' roll CD's to own. The harmonizing is incredible. You want to get up when you hear this CD. From melodic beginings on "Foolin'" to the live sound of "Stage Fright" it just ROCKS! I am not the best at describing things but the best thing I can say is... If you don't own this CD, you don't like ROCK music!

Better to burn out...
`Pyromania' was a watershed record for Def Leppard and for the Eighties in general as it broke the band big in America no doubt through the combined efforts of strong radio play and MTV and it also made heavy metal commercially acceptable in a way it never really had been before. Mutt Lange wanted to create a ``Star Wars' for the ears' and a rock record to rival pop phenoms like Michael Jackson and `Pyromania' nearly achieved this with its radio friendly , hook heavy hard rock that made the Sheffield lads teen beat idols and Joe Elliot's Union Jack sleeveless a pop icon for the Valley Girl generation.As a one who grew up in this era, I can honestly say Def Leppard and this mega-album hit me rather hard and hooked me into hard rock forever. However looking back on this record and its even more ridiculously successful follow-up `Hysteria' I feel like the Leps lost something early to the Mutt Lange hit making machine and that their earlier working class boys' metal from the first two records was lost forever. For that reason alone I deplore `Pyromania' though it is still a fantastic record.I had friend in high school who begrudgingly liked metal because of Leppard and it was popular but he also liked pop like Wham and Madonna and right away I knew that there was a problem with `Pyromania'. It was for all intents and purposes metal for non metal people and that is why I will always have a chip on my shoulder for it. Once Def Leppard left the NWOBHM far behind; they would NEVER be among my favorite bands though I do like them still very much to this day.As far as the record itself goes, the hits speak for themselves and after the years have gone by I can now enjoy them more than ever....."Photograph" (such a woman, you've got style), "Foolin'" (is there anybody out there?) and of course "Rock of Ages" (man, I always thought the song was much heavier than it really was). Some of the deeper cuts became more of my favorites of course with "Too Late for Love", "Comin' under Fire", and "Action, Not Words" having more staying power because they weren't beaten to death by MTV.`Pyromania' definitely deserves it classic status but still I cringe when critics say it's their `best' record...for me `High N' Dry' will always blow it away in terms of pure metal enjoyment. But still ......don't ever stop rock rock or do it to me rock, rock you really move me.... ... Read more

This book is quite old and is not intended to give a modern or sophisticated approach to pyromania nor any new data on this very rare disorder. However,there are various stories in the book, most of which are from the earlier 20th century (1930s-1940s). Little knowledge from a psychiatric standpoint are really given. ... Read more
