5-0 out of 5 stars Pain Free Indeed
My husband and I have both benefitted from this book.We owned a copy for years that we would loan out to others which we finally ended up giving to a man who has terrible back and neck problems.I would also be interested to try the other Egoscue books and DVDs.
At one point in time my husband had a desk that moved a dozen ways, an ergonomic chair, and a wrist brace on both arms...the resulting back, neck, and arm pain from heavy computer usage was not getting any better. He got this book and, as long as he does the e-cises, he feels great.
We both highly recommend this book.

"Now You Can Stop Your Tendon Pain -- Even When Your Situation Seems Hopeless!"

Of course you want to find a solution for your pain. You want to get back in the gym, back to work, and stop wasting time. I'll show you step-by-step exactly what to do to cure your tendon pain – especially if you've been to doctors and physical therapists who have been unable to help...

Target: Tendonitis! is about one thing: exactly what to do to relieve the pain and get you back to work, back into the gym or back onto the tennis court in record time. In fact, my cornerstone protocol will take you only a couple of minutes two or three times a day. That's a lot better than showing up at a meeting with an ice pack on your shoulder!

The book shows you exactly what to do, the exact exercise protocols and supplements -- helping you every step of the way, guiding and coaching you to get yourself healed and back on track as quickly as possible.

Here Are Some Of The Strategies You'll Discover How To Stop Your Tendonitis COLD:

* The "common sense" strategies doctors and physical therapists recommend -- ones you're probably using right now - and why they take months to work, if they work at all.

*The single best thing you can do in the to relieve yourself of pain and start the healing process immediately.

*Training mistakes that will result in a recurrence of tendon pain -- and how to avoid them. (You'll probably kick yourself when you realize that the way your training is set up is contributing to your pain.)

* Which nutritional supplements can have a beneficial effect, not just on your tendonitis/tendonosis, but all RSIs.

*The truth about inflammation and tendonitis.

* Why cortisone (and other cortico-steroid) shots are bad for you, and why you shouldn't rely on them.

* The truth about "proprietary blend" cocktails of herbal remedies, and why they are often not as effective as they should be.

* How to develop your own "anti-tendonitis" exercises that will speed you on the path to recovery now and help prevent recurrences in the future. Never feel helpless again!

I have worked as a Personal Trainer with dozens of clients in many different sports, and have hands-on experience working with physique competitors and both professional and recreational athletes of all kinds.

With over two decades of experience, I am proud to say I've helped hundreds of people -- even when they thought they would never be able to fully participate in their sport or professional activity again.

You have a decision to make: are you going to spend more time and money pursuing outdated, ineffective "remedies" that either take months to work or don't work at all? Or are you going to choose the fastest, most effective and cutting-edge techniques known to get you back on track?

It's completely up to you.

Remember, everything you do from this point is either helpful or harmful, and the most commonly recommended treatments for tendonitis simply aren't effective. Simply put, there are better choices out there.

Target: Tendonitis! will give you the specific, step-by-step techniques and strategies you need to enable you to get back to what you want to be doing most -- living and training without pain. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I'm a believer
I was a little skeptical about ordering this title for two reasons. One, the price is much higher than any similar Kindle item, and two, I didn't like the sales-letterish "editorial review".It would have been better IMO to have a summary of the book's contents than something that seems like a slightly sleazy come-on.

That said, I found the book to be extremely helpful and, yes, worth the money. The author's distinction between tendonitis and tendonosis was eye-opening, and sure enough, I didn't have what I thought I had.The recommended exercises were a little hard to understand at first, but after a few minutes I found that I got the hang of it.And they definitely did work. After months of stretches, icing and ibuprofin that didn't really help, I noticed a significant reduction in pain in just four or five days of using the exercises consistently.I can now resume my activity (weight training) with much less discomfort, but it was pretty much impossible before.

There is a Q&A at the back of the book, and the author gives some of the scientific studies that he bases his work on, which is nice if you're interested in that sort of thing, and gave me a little more confidence than the usual "just trust me" approach. There are also exercise and nutritional tips so that you don't fall back into having tendon problems again once you've cured yourself.

All in all, I'd recommend the book to anyone who's had long-term tendon pain.Don't be put off by the sales pitch, because the book itself isn't like that at all.The writing is mostly clear and direct, without a lot of jargon. And there is an email address to write to if you have questions (I didn't use it, though, so I don't know how good the support is).I gave it four stars, three for the sales letter and a definite five for the content. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Watch Your Evidence Closely
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002RKRE5U/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_img

One of R. Austin Freeman's favorite topics is the use of fingerprint evidence in crime solving. His opinion is that it isn't worth much. I'm a fingerprint expert from way back (I was a CSI before it was fashionable), and I think it's worth a lot. But he's right in this: Fingerprints can be forged, and have been forged. The specific device he used in this fascinating book would no longer work because of DNA evidence, but during the entire time I was involved in fingerprint examination it could have worked. His method of proving that it did not prove what it purported to prove was very similar to what I would use to make the same discovery. It was this: If you have two fingerprints that are EXACT duplicates of one another, at least one of them was forged.

But when Freeman wrote this novel, nobody knew that axiom. So his originality is such that I was extremely impressed. In fact, after reading all of Freeman's works as I have done, I would say that he would have made an extremely good CSI himself, using no more scientific methods than those he used, up until the late 1970s. That puts him way ahead of the game, in the same way that Arthur Conan Doyle's late 19th century Sherlock Holmes novels were ahead of the game.

This is a very impressive novel, and I cannot imagine anyone with any interest in either crime fiction or criminalistics of any type who would not want to read everything s/he could find by this brilliant author.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highest praise for a marvellous book
At one point in my life I worked 'troubleshoting', solving problems that often were descrbied as 'unresolvable' - usually because people believed that when you eliminated the impossible you ended up with the necessary. But I was struck how easy it isto 'hypnotise' oneself into mistakes as to what is 'impossible'. The liklihood of error from mistakenly acceepting false equivalences seemed to me the root of almost all the problems that stumped or misled the really talented, often brilliant, and skilled people I helped. This is the first book I have read that made me feel the author had 'been' there or at least caught 'how it was' to be at the heart of solving such puzzles.I really feel the French expression, chapeau, is merited - in spades. I also found this book first published almost a century ago astonishingly undated in how it felt to me.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Classic By Any Standards
The Red Thumb Mark is the novel that introduces to the world one of thegreatest "scientific" detectives in all literature: Dr. JohnThorndyke. It is rightly regarded as one of the all-time classics inmystery fiction.Raymond Chandler, for example, who typically hatedBritish detective fiction for its consistent implausibilities, found AustinFreeman's work and The Red Thumb Mark highly entertaining and readable.

The novel concerns Thorndyke's attempts to clear the name of a young manaccused of stealing diamonds from a safe.A thumb mark (finger print) nearthe scene of the crime is the only evidence against the young man, but itis decidedly damning.Add a little romance, a sinister villian lurking inthe background, and you have the ingredients that make up this story.

Ifound the work to be wonderfully exciting.Watching Thorndyke break downthe evidence against the young man is a fascinating expereince.Though aperson could argue that too much detail is given to the "science"aspect, you have to understand that these scenes are the backbone of thistype of detective story.

In a day and age of corporate villiany, brutalcrime bosses and hideous serial killers, The Red Thumb Mark might seem tosome readers as painfully old-fashioned.Freeman's writing is similar (andoften compared with) Conan Doyle, and there's little doubt that Freemanfound inspiration from the Holmes canon. However, the novel'sold-fashioned flavor is the very reason to recommend it.It's fun to walkthe streets of Edwardian England, to see the sights, to hear thegentlemanly discussions, to share the thought processes of one of the greatdetective minds. This is the real magic of the novel.

Sadly, most ofFreeman's work has long, long been out of print.I would recommend huntingamong the used book stores for his other great mysteries, especially TheSilent Partner, The Eye of Osiris, and my all-time favorite Mr.Pottermack's Oversight. These great novels are as highly recommended asThe Red Thumb Mark.Someday, I hope the world rediscovers this highlytalented writer and that he is placed along side with the other great nameswhere he belongs.

2-0 out of 5 stars An Edwardian Detective Novel - What Makes Something Evidence
Edwardian London: a city of squalor, pea-soup fogs, and primitive detective work.Into this city, is introduced Dr John Thorndyke, apathologist, who appears as an expert witness in court cases for both thedefence and prosecution. He is also a detective who seeks to solvecases.

In this first Thorndyke story by R Austin Freeman (the first ofmany in the series), Thorndyke takes on a new assistant Dr. Jervis.DrJervis is the foil to Thorndyke, just as Dr Watson is to Conan Doyle'sSherlock Holmes.Thorndyke also explores more than just the case, byhaving Jervis fall in love.Dr Jervis' love affair is an interestingdiversion in how it revealsmiddle-class values at the turn of thecentury.

The basis of this story is interesting: can forensic science bewrong; can you fake fingerprints on evidence ?The book is not a 'who dunit' in the conventional sense. Most readers will identify the obviousvillain early on.The challenge is to work out how the crime was done andthen to prove that it was done that way.Of course, Thorndyke frees theinnocent man inthe end.

Thorndyke is a more scientific detective thanHolmes and achievessurprising results, even within the primitiveknowledge and techniques of his day.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Raciocinative Classic
Freeman's Dr. Thorndyke is frequently compared to Sherlock Holmes, and I like to think the two characters would appreciate each other.I personally have a slight preference for Thorndyke because he has more consciousrespect for logic and the scientific method and is a warmer person.

Inthis tale, Dr. Thorndyke, who is primarily employed as a medical expertwitness, is asked to mount the defense for a young man accused of the theftof diamonds from his uncle's safe. The evidence against Mr. ReubenHornby--his bloody thumbprint inside the safe--is so compelling that evenhis own solicitor is convinced of his guilt.Thorndyke, however, isequally confident that the thumbprint is a forgery and, with the assistanceof Dr. Jervis and Thorndyke's resourceful servant Polton, sets out to proveit. He makes quick progress, too, because he soon finds himself the targetof several cleverly engineered assassination attempts.

While I was quitecertain early in the book as to who was responsible for the theft, I likedhow Freeman made the point that it is one matter to know who did or did notdo a thing, but it is yet another matter entirley to prove your knowledgein a court that is not only not ready to believe you but is governed bypolicies in direct conflict with your methods.

Dr. Jervis played aninteresting role in the case, at once keeping the reader apprised of keyfacts and insights and distancing the reader from Thorndyke's speculations. He also had an internal conflict regarding his interest in the lovely MissGibson that provided even more confusion for the reader.Freeman did anadmirable job of making me wonder till the very end about Miss Gibson'slevel of involvement in the crime.

I had sought this book out afterenjoying one of Freeman's short stories, and I was not disappointed. Freeman introduces interesting characters and an intriguing puzzle againstthe backdrop of turn-of-the-century London to great effect.I'd think anyfan of Sherlock Holmes would be delighted to discover Dr.Thorndyke.

Do you have Carpal Tunnel...the tingling...the numbness...and the inability to effectively use your hands?

Do you want to overcome it but don't actually know much about Carpal Tunnel Syndrome? If so, then you've found the right book!

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Is A Big Problem That Affects A Lot of People

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (or CTS) affects more people than you might think. Anyone who uses their hands and fingers a lot at work can get it.

CTS is caused by some kind of compression in the nerves in the wrist. Your nerves, veins, and ligaments all run through the carpal tunnel, and any pressure on the nerves can cause CTS.

Doctors don't really know exactly why it happens, but they have some ideas on who is affected.

The most commonly affected people are those that use their hands a lot, such as in cutting, typing, or anything that uses small hand held tools. Also, people who work in factories or mills can develop carpal tunnel syndrome as well.

The most common symptoms are tingling, numbness, and pain in the hands. You know you have CTS if it wakes you up at night.

Even though doctors don't know exactly what causes it yet, they do have some ideas on how to remedy it...But most people who have CTS don't even know that they have it, much less how to treat it.This means they could be trapped with a condition they don’t know that they can overcome.

The first step to helping yourself, or someone close to you, is to understand what you're dealing with. Then you can begin to understand the different treatment options.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and its treatments are not that complicated.

This book teaches you everything you need to know about CTS.

You'll discover:

- How To Understand Carpal Tunnel Syndrome…You must know what you're dealing with before you can actually deal with it.
- How To Diagnose CTS…So you can stop wondering and move forward.
- Non-Surgical Treatments...Get free without any surgery!
- Surgical Treatments...Make wise, informed decisions about your future so you can be pain free.

This is a complete guide to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in a simple, understandable language so that you can easily learn all there is to know about CTS.

Things like:

- Introduction To Carpal Tunnel: The first step to freedom is knowing your condition.
- CTS Symptoms: Simple keys to discovering if you have CTS.
- The Causes of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: Find the root of the issue and take care of it!
- Diagnosing CTS: Know what you have so you can start treating it today.

Product Description
Shoulder injuries often result in pain and swelling that can limit your range of motion, weaken your shoulder muscles, and cause discomfort at night while you sleep. While approximately 6 million individuals in the US suffer with shoulder injuries, many of them will only find temporary relief with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and cortisone or steroid injections. In some cases, given time and care, a rotator cuff tendon or muscle tear can heal itself. Unfortunately, this method is often a slow process and most likely results in the buildup of scar tissue leaving you with inflexible shoulder tissue that is prone to further injury.

By reading this book, you’ll learn about 3 alternative treatment methods you can use that are proven effective by other sufferers just like you. All 3 therapies are safe, painless and effective…with no harmful side effects. They are much less expensive than constant visits to a doctor or surgery and the technologies have been widely used and accepted by medical professionals for many years.

Read on and find out how to treat your rotator cuff and reduce your pain now! Don’t let your shoulder pain force you to make drastic lifestyle changes, pay far too much for treatment, or put your health at further risk – Take charge of your own health! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars No story, not much information
The book was free. So I can't complain too much I guess.

I read the first 30-40% of the book and put it down after that. There was no story line and not a lot of information. The initial idea of a journalist travelling accross China some 100+ year ago sounded super intriguing. I read a lot of China related books and am very interested in history and culture. This book never managed to rope me in.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great description of a difficult journey
This is an excellent travelogue of a journey taken in 1909-10. It's well written, entertaining, and has lots of info on cities, towns, geography, politics, religion, native peoples, animals, and the difficulty of traveling through such unforgiving territory. ... Read more
