Product Description
Do you spend more time on the computer than you do on any other single waking activity? If so, you probably have or will experience pain while using the computer. Many people live in pain and discomfort for many years and then are forced to change careers. You can avoid this fate. Unfortunately, conventional approaches for treating computer-related injury like traditional medical care will cost you precious time and money and may not even come close to preventing or treating your injury. This book offers an unconventional approach to attaining pain-free computing without sacrificing productivity through the vision of a Computer Athlete.

A Computer Athlete is a computer user that is fit for and skilled at working with a computer. The difference between a computer athlete and a computer user is similar to the difference between a track athlete and someone who just goes for jogs in the park. An athlete has skill, discipline, special technique, and training for the activity that he/she participates in. People who use the computer on a daily basis are computer users whereas computer athletes must meet other qualifications. To become a Computer Athlete, you must master the five key areas : Equipment and Usage, Nutrition, Strength and Conditioning, Self-Awareness and Self-Care, and Stress Management.

You must work on all of the disciplines above. If you ignore any of these areas, you can still develop pain and debilitating injury.

By becoming a computer athlete, you can:

1. Be happier at home and at work
2. Save time and money
3. Gain an edge over your peers
4. Avoid painful computer related injury
5. Assist co-workers, friends, and family

The ideas and techniques in this book have helped students, writers, investment bankers, computer programmers, and many others. Now it's your turn . . .

Learn the principles of a Computer Athlete and through them a better way to live and work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pain Free Computing
I have been in the electronic industry for over 10 years.Battling arthritis, back pain, and obesity, I went to doctor after doctor. Finally, a recent addition to my company heard my cries for help and mentioned a word that would soon change my life, ergonomics.I searched ebay, found a few books, and started to read.I read almost ten books on the subject and have to say this one was by far the best, and the only one worth writing a review for. From life style changes, to computing habits (where I work 12 hours a day), to eating healthy, this book offers the best advice.I'm no longer in pain and on my way to a healthy life.I've lost over 20 pounds and my arthritis is gone so I can pick up the guitar again.I highly recommend this book and extend my gratitude to the author.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Huge Help
This is a pretty quick read and definitely worth the time.I've had some computing pain recently and really value the information and recommendations in this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Anyone who uses a computer extensively should read this book!
Computer related injuries are very harmful to both individuals and businesses. This book explains many common problems and offers potential solutions to work pain free.Did you know the mouse and keyboard are not "one size fits all" devices? There are many different computer devices on the market that tailor to specific body types and personal computing styles.Get educated and then become pain free.

This book is merely the starting point and I look forward to additional research on the subject.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Computer Athlete's Handbook: Your Guide to a Healthier, Happier Techy Lifestyle by Brian Bentow
I very much appreciate a title of this book and this new concept ofthe "computer athlete."
I hope that this new idea will become a very popular among all the people who are using computer. Everyone should strive to become a computer athlete It is the same as being physically fit and lead long and productive life.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pain Free Computing is Obtainable
This book does an excellent job of providing a holistic analysis of `how to achieve maximum productivity' while using a computer. Rather than focusing on a single aspect of pain free computing (like posture), it addresses many of the root causes of it. While the author acknowledges that becoming a `computer athlete' isn't as simple as following several steps and may require a change in life-style, his breakdown of and insight into each ofthe areas of `computer athleticism' demonstrates even small changes can lead to great productivity gains.

This book is an easy read that provides much value. While not every chapter will be relevant to all, certainly anyone who uses the computer frequently will be thankful they read it. ... Read more
