A Must for Every Household
This book is like that first lick off a chocolate mint ice cream cone or the feel of the ocean breeze on your face ; you just gotta experience it first hand to know why I purchased over a dozen copies for every household of my nieces and nephews, friends who help their children with math homework, K-12, and to a middle school math teacher to remind him how math can be taught quite simply with meaning andenjoyment.

This book ought to be next to thatdictionary in every household. It covers concepts from addition to Trigonometry in the most learner/reader friendly way. This book covers all subjects at the most practical level. You won't need to purchase books on various math topics, they're all here. And I didn't thinkI'd chuckleor laugh, learning about math.

Recently a math book for girls was released. What?Technical Book for Dummies doesn't perpetuate that myth about girls being less teachable or capable.This book addresses all people as learners, thus respecting all learners without indulging in gender myths.

I grew up hating and fearing math and avoided all math courses beyondbasic math. This book changed everything. The difference is the humorous and patient voices of the authors. It's as though they knew they had to be delicate, uncomplicated with their language and funny to hold my attention before they could help me rid myself of past fears.This they did, without a touch of intimidation.

I highly recommend this book.You just gotta read a few pages to know why I compare this to an ice cream cone. Besides, I like authors who have confidence in their work. I've been promised that if I can't balance my check book after the chapter on checkbooks, one of the authors will personally come to my door to balance my checkbook for me.

over-priced and very elementry
This book has large print and small pages, thus making it seem that there is more to it than what there really is. Most of is unit conversions, a subject that is more than adequately covered by shareware and the publicdomain. The author might rethink his marketing stratigy and reduce theprice to 14.95 for book and CD combo, He also possibly make the softwareshareware when he finds out the market is smarter than he thinks it is.Another futuristic avenue for the book would be as a "freebie"item that a company could give to one's better customers. To do this youwould have to a quanity of the books at 1 - 5 cents on the dollar.(Reference the NATCO conversion book)-I expected more for"Industrial Press" (the publishers) because the print the classic"Machinery Handbook" which is finally now available in CD format.

A Must Have Reference!!
I wish I would of had this reference when I was going through school.I like how the book is laid out alphabetically, which makes it extremely easy to find what you are looking for.I think it should be required for allengineering students.

Riemann's 1859 Zeta paper elaborated
Riemann's 1859 Zeta paper defines the Zeta function and uses its properties to approximate the count of prime numbers up to a number t, and the density of the primes at the number t.

To that end, Riemann defined the auxiliary function xi(z) that has the same zeros as Zeta in 0 < x < 1.

The book shows that xi(z) has a factorization that depends on the zeros of Zeta, and that if the zeros are all on the line x = 1/2, that factorization produces in the formula for the count of the primes, a series of Logarithmic integrals.

Riemann obtained an erroneous product formula that does not produce the Logarithmic integral series term.

Already in 1860, Genocchi pointed out that the product formula should use the value of xi(z) at z=0. That comment eventually diverted attention from the error in the factor in the product, and the main problem seemed to be that a derivation was missing.

In 1893, Hadamard supplied the derivation, but his product formula does not make the connection to the Logarithmic integral series in the formula for the count of the primes.

Indeed, to make that connection, one has to follow through the Zeta paper, and execute the book that is outlined in it. The book supplies detailed explanations to the claims that Riemann made in his Zeta paper. ... Read more
