When I arrived in America last year, I saw that many Americans wished to learn Tai Chi Chuan. It is a good sign that the ancient Chinese culture is gradually being accepted by western society. If you say Tai Chi Chuan, many Americans are aware of its health benefits. Although Tai Chi Chuan is popular in America, there are two issues connected to Tai Chi Chuan that the people are not so familiar with: 1. Tai Chi Chuan is a martial art 2. Tai Chi Chuan is not only for seniors to practice for health. It is better to start when one is young.
With its unique, soft, circular and balanced movement and even breathing, it is easy for the body to relax, free from stress and good for joint disease exercise. However, since it is so soft and slow, how could it be a martial art? Very few people can answer this question properly. Actually, Tai Chi Chuan is a part of Taoism. It is also a high level martial art. It was created by Taoist Chang San Feng, who lived in Wudang Mountain in the late Song Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty. Thus, practitioners the orthodox Tai Chi Chuan belong to Wudang School. Wudang School Tai Chi Chuan internal martial art enjoyed the same fame as Shaolin School external martial art in Chinesehistory.
During the middle of Qing Dynasty, in the cold weapon period, Great Great Greatmaster Yang Lu Chen, the first generation of Yang Style, inherited the real skill of Tai Chi Chuan. With his unique and high level skill, he defeated all other martial art practitioners. He was known as the "Invincible Yang" and was invited to the army training center to teach the warriors by working as general instructor. Yang Lu Chen's two sons Yang Ban Hou and Yang Jian Hou, his grandson Yang Cheng Fu, three generations, possessed invincible skill in Tai Chi Chuan.

84. Recaps - Week Of 11-05-00 - Meredith & Gen's Finola Hughes Page
Side note I always thought it was funny how David managed to cureDimitri's prion disease, and didn't get a Nobel Prize for it!
http://www.geocities.com/antigone51/Recaps/11-05-00.html
The Week of November 5, 2000
Tuesday, November 7th
Dimitri is declared cured!
In the hospital, Alex talks to Gillian about Jake and asks her if she still has feelings for Ryan. Gillian dodges the question, then Jake shows up.
In David's office, David declares Dimitri cured, much to the delight of Alex and Dimitri. Both thank David for the daring treatment that saved Dimitri's life.
Later, David tells Alex that he is going to cut back on his hospital work so he can focus more on his research. Despite questioning by Alex, who does not want David jeopardizing the foundation by focusing on libidozone, David does not reveal that he is going to continue testing the drug.
Meredith's take on Tuesday:
Unfortunately, both Gen AND I missed today's episode; thus the brevity and lateness of this recap. Side note: I always thought it was funny how David managed to cure Dimitri's prion disease, and didn't get a Nobel Prize for it! Prion diseases, the family which includes the infamous "mad cow" disease, are caused by mutated versions of a naturally occurring protein in the brain which strangely replicate themselves without any DNA or RNA. They were discovered only recently, and symptoms include holes in the brain, loss of motor control, and dementia. These diseases are not only incurable, but the damage done by the them are completely irrevesible! Medicines today can only hope to slow their progression. Yup, Dimitri's a *very* lucky man! And David should be basking in fame and rolling in money, instead of messing with libidozone...that's soaps for ya! :) ~Mer

PEDIATRIC NEURORADIOLOGY: CONGENITAL DISORDERS OF THE BRAIN WADE H. WONG, D.O. Embryology Congenital disorders of the brain and spine are extremely complex and are best studied by correlating with the embryological development. Stage 1: Dorsal Induction: Formation and Closure of the Neural Tube
    Weeks 3 - 4
Three phases: Neurulation, canalization, retrogressive differentiation
    Failure: Anencephaly
    Cephalocele
    Chiari
    Spinal dysraphism

Stage 2: Ventral Induction: Formation of the Brain Segments and Face
    Weeks 5-10
Three vesicles (prosencephalon, mesencephalon, and rhombencephalon) form the cerebrum, mid-brain, cerebellum, and lower brain stem.
    Division into two hemispheres.
    Failure: Holoprosencephalies
    Corpus callosum agenesis
    Dandy Walker
    Facial anomalies

Stage 3: Migration and Histogenesis
Neuronal migration from germinal matrix to the cortex.
Cellular differentiation.
Months 2-5.
Disorders: Heterotopias, agyria-pachyria, polymicrogyria, vascular malformations, teratomas, phakomatosis.

Stage 4: Myelination
Inferior to superior; posterior to anterior.
