Altogether I have 6 medical problems which you should find out halfway through reading this site. I have always got bullied at school practically and still do i never seem to tell anyone that I have Aspergers Syndrome becasue I think they will abuse me. There is also a feedback form I have put on just incase some people feel more comfortable with feedback form or guestbook whichever you sign I do not mind. Extractions: How i got diagnosed with aspergers syndrome In early 1999 mum and dad noticed I had very odd behaviour i wouldnt hold their hands, throw tantrums every 2 weeks, demand them to let me change schools, would sit in my bedroom everyday listenening to the same cd over and over again, never gave them hugs or kisses, cry about schol because I was getting bullied and was very upset I did not have a nice class at all they were a nasty bunch of teenagers and did not have hardly any friends I had in the end up to 3 or 4 friends when in the first place had heaps more than that I also bocked peoples way in the supermarket and stare. Then in may 1999 I got assessed at puketerio centre by someone as you would probably guess i spoke very little through out the interview and mum did the rest of the talking and mum described my behaviour to her and she said i fit the Aspergers Syndrome category. Whe we were at puketero centre on the same day Diana Kane gave mum some information on Aspergers syndrome and mum and dad reaad all of it and said its just like reading a book about Janine it had just described just about everything of me on that piece of paper!!!!!!! The impairment in social interactions may consist of an inability to interpret and express nonverbal cues, difficulty in developing and maintaining friendships, and an inability to engage in appropriate social exchanges. The adherence to rigid routines and interests may involve an inability to be flexible, a need to engage in compulsive routines, a tendency to engage in repetitive movements, and/or an intense preoccupation with a specific area of interest. Associated features of Asperger's Syndrome which are not required for diagnosis but are commonly present include delay in motor development often seen as clumsiness, extreme sensitivities to sensations (tactile, visual, and auditory), and excessive, but non-interactive, speech when related to areas of interest. In addition, many children with Asperger's will have behavior problems due to their difficulty in understanding the world around them. Children with Asperger's Syndrome are of at least average intellectual development and develop language, curiosity and self-help skills within normal age limits. Frequently, Asperger's Syndrome occurs with other childhood disorders such as Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.

They have not the patient for what they see as useless small talk or games, so antaganise other children. But this also causes problems in the classroom. A.S. children hear speach literally so when the teacher tells 'the class' to go to page six in their reading book, the A.S. child hears this as the teacher wants the class to read that page, what does she want me to do. I am not the class, I am me. If the teacher does not understand this he/she believes the child is being delibertly disruptive. More education is needed in all schools so these children are not labelled. This Web Site is part of a course I am doing and will only be up for two weeks. However, genetic or environmental obstacles can obstruct development, especially early in life. One such obstacle is Aspergers Syndrome. Aspergers Syndrome (or AS) is a congenital neurobiological condition that affects 0.25% of the population. AS is linked to autism spectrum disorder, and includes autistic-like behaviour and marked deficiencies in social and communication skills. AS individuals are of average to above average intelligence, some with unusual gifts and creativity. As a diagnosis, it has been known in Europe since the 1940s, but has only been included in our medical diagnostic manuals since 1994. Thus many adults and children remain undiagnosed. Consequently AS is relatively unknown and not clearly understood, even among professionals. AS is indeed a puzzle, and researchers are working to identify the pieces and form them into a meaningful picture. My experiences as an adult recently diagnosed with Aspergers, together with my studies in child development, suggest that individuals with AS are like young childrenstuck in time, so to speak, never able to advance beyond early stages in social, cognitive and language development. For example, most AS difficulties centre around social competencies. A salient characteristic of young children is egocentrismthe inability to recognize that other people think and feel differently than oneself. Persons with Aspergers Syndrome remain in this egocentric state, unable to interpret the thoughts and emotions of others, or to experience empathy. Another name given to this condition is "mind blindness"the incapacity to visualize the mind states of others. Thus it is hard for AS individuals to develop normal friendships, as either children or adults. Without empathy, they become emotionally stunted. A related problem is the inability to carry out social referencing through understanding nonverbal cues, such as facial expressions or body language. Such cues are "invisible" to those with AS.

Thirdly, there is Gordon's aversion to women: he is on record as having refused invitations from women if he felt that he was being lined up to marry a young woman. Gordon remained a bachelor all of his life.
