Robert Kimball Associates provided design work for a new $2.8 million addition to the terminal at Yeager Airport in Charleston, West Virginia. The terminal expansion project was designed to meet the needs of the regional jet age, according to airport director Rick Atkinson. Many airlines are putting smaller regional jets into service on flights that connect spoke airports to the carriers hub airports; therefore, the regional airports served by these airlines must provide facilities to better serve the passengers who board the smaller jets. The extension of the existing terminal not only provides more boarding gates, ticketing stations, and passenger waiting areas, but it also expands a crowded facility. In the past, passengers for several flights were sometimes boarding their planes from a single gate. The new addition has four additional ticketing stations that are ready for future airport expansion.
Open The Public Aircraft View Park On West Side Of FLL Petition popular public aircraft viewing park on the west side of and we are insulted thatthe airport director feels Why haven't other us airports closed their viewing http://www.petitiononline.com/openpark/petition.html
Extractions: Open the public aircraft view park on west side of FLL View Current Signatures Sign the Petition To: Broward County Commission This petition urges the Broward County Commission to direct the county administrator and Bill Sherry, Director of the Broward County Aviation Department at Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), to re-open the popular public aircraft viewing park on the west side of the airport. This public viewing area was closed on November 28th as an overreaction to the failed shoulder-mounted missile attack on an Israeli airliner in Kenya. 1. Terrorists using this type of heat-seeking missile can do so within miles of an airport and would most likely use an isolated area for their atrocities instead of a public area full of spotters, photographers and families enjoying their fascination with aircraft. Numerous people would immediately call 911 to report suspicious characters in the public view park. Terrorists would prefer to attack an airliner in flight to ensure total fatalities and more deaths and damage on the ground rather than shooting at an aircraft on the ground. Even if the airport director's erroneous view was correct, there are numerous unattended parking lots on the north side of FLL that haven't been closed in the interest of security, in addition to an elevated Interstate 595 that provides excellent views of runway 9-left/27-right, the busiest runway at FLL.

ABOUT ENGLAND In London alone there is so much history, culture, and of course shopping to experience that its no surprise some visitors never get outside the city except perhaps on a day trip to Windsor (minutes from London Heathrow Airport). Steeped in history, London boasts some of the worlds best museums and art galleries, orchestras and pop groups, theatre and opera groups as well as magnificent architecture both old and new. Much of Englands history took place outside London, however. Winchester in Hampshire for example was a Saxon capital, whilst to the west Bath has spas going back to Roman times as well as its magnificent Regency architecture. In the north-west Chester is a fine historical city also with strong Roman connections, whilst elsewhere ancient cities such as York, Lincoln and Salisbury have glorious cathedrals and histories of their own to add to the tapestry of Englands tale down the centuries.

Extractions: US architect Peter Pran represents the new wave of international architects who believe that great work can come out of the largest 'corporate' firms, through the use of small design studios. 'The building must be able to dance as a lone dancer and in a chorus line, and not lose its potency,' he enthuses, in his newly-published monograph. The same analogy could be used to describe the role of senior designers in the large firms, of which he has always been one. Pran, the inspirational designer of mega public and private buildings around the world, trained with Mies van der Rohe in the early 1960s, and became the guiding light at US firm Ellerbe Becket before moving to NBBJ in 1996. Where corporate design has traditionally been perceived as conventional and one-dimensional, modern architecture at the end of the century, as demonstrated by Pran, is achieving a complexity and dynamism of new proportions. For these designers, setting up as individuals is off limits for two major reasons. Firstly, there is the practical issue of managing without the infrastructure and financial resources of the corporate base, and the significant public and private commissions that go with that. Secondaly, such architects are determined to deconstruct the hierarchy in one-man firms thus ensuring that they don't die with the founder.
