Extractions: The School's Nondiscrimination Policy About the School The School of Social Work, established in 1965 as part of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, became part of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1975. The School began as a graduate program, the only MSW program in the state. Our BSW program, now in candidacy for accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education, began in 1998. The School's mission is "to prepare practitioners who will empower people and communities to meet the challenges of poverty, social and economic injustice, urbanization, and rural isolation, and who will serve oppressed and vulnerable people." The School pursues this mission through providing undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education, through the engagement of faculty and students in community service, and through adding to the practice knowledge of the profession. In support of our mission, we see the School, its faculty, and its students as an important resource to the communities where we offer our program and to the state as a whole. Impelled by our profession's commitment to make social institutions more humane, we seek opportunities to collaborate with public human and community service systems. Current examples include our participation in the Partnership for Public Child Welfare, a major child welfare project in DCFS Areas III and VI, the Hispanic University-Community Partnership project, and the work of MidSOUTH Center on preservice and inservice training for public child welfare workers and supervisors.

Doug Buford, president of the Arkansas Arts Center Board of Trustees, announced the appointment today following the joint meeting of the Arkansas Arts Center Board of Trustees and Arkansas Arts Center Foundation Board of Directors. Plummer was appointed following a unanimous recommendation from the Search Committee, chaired by Curt Bradbury. She will begin her duties November 1, 2002. Plummer succeeds Townsend Wolfe, who will retire on October 31, 2002. Dr. Plummer is an art historian, educator and administrator from the Toledo Museum of Art. She has a PhD and Masters of Art degree in History of Art from the University of Michigan. She earned a Bachelors of Art degree in History of Art from Mount Holyoke College. Dr. Plummer served as Head of Education at Toledo Museum of Art where she had oversight of the museum's educational effort including School of Art and Design, gallery education, early childhood and family education, outreach and public programs. As a member of the Toledo Museum Directorship, the museum's leadership team, Dr. Plummer shared responsibility for the museum's strategic direction, operational planning and financial oversight. She also worked closely with the Museum's development department for donor relations and grant writing for education-related proposals.

Extractions: Programs of Excellence - Individual and Family Financial Management Program Relevance : Many youth go from piggy banks to credit cards with little or no resource management eduction in-between. Youth need educational programs and resources to learn basic principles of resource management they will use for the remainder of their life. Program Quality : A wide variety of research-based programs are available for use by Arkansas Extension professionals in the area of resource management for youth audiences. Curriculum are available for pre-school through high school aged youth. Additional programs are designed for parents to use when teaching basic financial management principles to their children. The curricula includes a wide variety of teaching methods, which include traditional 4-H project books, as well as programs for school enrichment, day camps, pre-school, and after school programs. A Money 2000 newsletter which targets older youth also is available. County Extension Agents may adapt all of these programs for their particular county situations. Program Accomplishments : Money $ense for Kids, a five session day-camp, has been used in 12 counties and reached 204 youth. Local support and recognition was increased by including local financial institution representatives in planning and conducting these camps. Results from the day-camp evaluations indicated that:
