Anatomy Quick study guide
This guide is very well put together. I am using it for my college studies, but I believe this will be a valuable item to use for reference when I get into the work place.

Laminated anatomy guide
This guide has six panels, it folds neatly and has 3 holes so you can put it in your binder. The way it's designed, you can have it in your binder and open it like a book, this is very nice. It's a big guide, slightly larger than a standard 8.5"x11" sheet of paper. I was really pleased by this in real life, it's bright and colorful. For some reason, I thought it would be pocket sized, but it's large and legible. It's worth the price, absolutely. The lamination is tight and neat, no bubbling; you'd have to really abuse this chart to damage it. If you're prone to spilling things, this will wipe clean. It's very durable and will come in handy for studying. I recommend this to everyone who needs one. I plan on picking more guides up from this company.

All-in-One Anatomy chart
This is a wonderful quick study academic guide for anyone interested in the anatomy of the body. After reading one of the reviews I decided to order it. I too will be taking Medical Terminology and a Coding course this year, and it helps to have the charts. These charts will last forever. A nice resourse to put in your binder. Great!!
Used this in college, and now that I work in a hospital. Its just great. I have several different charts, and I would buy them again--I probably will when they update them. It just snaps into a 3 ring binder, and I dont worry about something getting spilled on it.

The best body building anatomy book
This is the best body building anatomy book. Much better than Strength Training Anatomy-3rd Edition (Sports Anatomy). The diagrams are uncluttered, focus on one area at a time and provide multiple view points. This makes it possible for a layman to understand the musculo-skeletal system.

The exercise descriptions pack just the information you need atthe gym. The anatomy focus sections are outstanding. A must have for any one lifting weights.

Great book but bad TOC in Kindle Edition
This is a great book for anyone who wants to get into shape the gym or at home. It lists each body section and details the muscle groups. Each section shows exercise options for that body section using free weights, exercise machines and body exercises. each exercise is completely detailed and accompanied with excellent illustrations. I had the paperback copy and then added the Kindle edition to have on my iPhone while in the gym. My only complaint is that the table of contents in the Kindle edition is completely useless to find specific exercises and you are forced to search through the pages until you find what you want.

Clearly Straight-forward
Each exercise is clearly illustrated with color to show the precise muscles being trained. Chaptered by body part with an index by exercise. Some chapters show relationship between muscle and bone, eg:arms,chest. Some chapters show impact of varying your foot position, eg:upper and lower legs. Variations of each exercise are offered. Clear, straight-forward, not over-whelmed with too much informative but confusing detail.

i have got plenty of books on musculoskeletal anatomy but hands down this is the best. it is an awesome learning book for the system. the best detail, detail i have never seen in any other book.

Great item with lots of information.
I would have enjoyed a little more clinical information but it does have a good amount as is. Overall, a great book to start with for anatomy. Be warned though, the most important kind of book for any anatomy with a lab though would be an atlas with pictures of cadavers. I suggest Moses et al Atlas of Clinical Gross Anatomy as well if you're taking a lab with the anatomy course.

Better condition than indicated
Great book. Originally used an older version in med school, but needed a cheap, soft cover anatomy book for quick reference in fellowship. Maybe a little basic, but I think still more detailed than Netter. And not overly detailed like Skandalakis.

I needed this book for a class... I bought of a new one and it is obviously not used. I'm guesses booksrus or whoever i bought the book from bought it from ebay because that is what it had when I finally got my book. It did say it would take about 3 weeks but I was hoping that from the reviews it would come faster... no it did not. The book is good thought easy to read and now I can finally start doing my online work from my class without borrowing my friends book. I am just diassapointed in my not new book because I paid for a new book and the long amount of time I had to wait for it.

Pretty illustrations but...
It's not a page turner. Some of it is simply not worth memorizing.I feel sorry for the students who got stuck with this pitiful offering.

Suble Energy reference
Have only begun to digest the material here.This is a helpful reference on chakras, meridians, etc. that will be useful for years to come.

A incredible book
The book is a general collection of some of the best known subtle energies in the world such as: chi and kundalini, with a more extensive explaining of these two main streams. I'm also a pathologist and accupuncturist in Taiwan, and my suspicious of the existence between the link of meridian points and connective tissue, this book proves my hypothesis and incredibly others have already done. There is no mention of course in western medicine,but in the near future, the grouping between physicists and medical physicians are much needed. The era of Biophysics could enter a new age. Chapter 21 is very enlighting for western physician. Page 310 explains the Chakra development and age and the final development of the Twelfth Chakra: 49 to 57 years, this finding extraordinary match the commentary of the book "Meditation and Kabbalah" by Aryeh Kaplan, Page 82: The best time for the deepest levels of meditation is in old age, when the intellect is well developed and the pull of the body is weak.....This reflects the Talmudic teaching that such mysteries should not be taught to an individual unless he is "halfaway through his years". (This part is using the intellect to attain enlightment through the way of the 72 letters by the Abulafia system, a little different from the Provence school of the Ten senfirot where emotions are more important than intellect, but meditation dependences of the personal character to choose itw own path). It is a pity that the book "Medicina Magnetica" by William Maxwell is only found in microfilms and in Latin (I found that in the web page: [...]), because by using a more easy method, my guess is one could analize it in the outpatient office rather using a more complicated and expensive machine.

TOO COMPLICATED
I THINK IS A BIG BOOK, WITH LOTS OF PAGES AND CONTENTS BUT FOR ME VERY SUPERFICIAL. THERE ARE PARTS LIKE THE CHAPTER ON ENERGY THAT TALK ABOUT PHYSICS THAT I DIDNT UNDERSTAND ALMOST NOTHING. THE IMPRESSION THAT I HAD IS THAT AFTER READING THIS BOOK WE WOULD NEED TO DEEP THE STUDIES ON THE SUBJECTS TO REALY LEARN.

For knowledge on genuine experience with them read gopi krishna and muktanandas autobiographys. youll hafto have grace and hard inner work to genuine heal with the hands.The new age that says its easy only sells in rich countrys. trying to force the kundalini or chakras awake before the mind is 99 percent pure is very dangerous. meditate pray and make good karma for purity. Be patient and dont expect instant results. never do dangerous breathing exercises or practices

More information than newer editions.
We were pleased to find this edition as it contains more details than the current version my daughter is now using in school.If you are struggling with newer editions of this book, take a look at this one to see if it helps answers some of your questions.The book arrived quickly and in the condition described by the seller.Excellent book for the price.

Never received Book
Unfortunately, the book was never received from the third party. They said they mailed it but it never came to my house or back to theirs.Therefore my review of the book doesn't exist and my review of the sender is poor.

Good textual resource, but activitites are lacking
I have taught A&P labs at the university level for a few years now, and I have had some success using this text.However, the labs outlined in this text are often over-complicated, time-consuming, and expensive.We find ourselves skipping worth-while activities just to make sure the foundational information is covered.Though the textual introductions to each lab are well-written and complete with superb diagrams and graphics, I would say that I spend a great deal of my time talking to my students about sorting out what information will be applicable when we actually enter the lab room (because we skip activities). Many of the BIOPAC and a few of the Physo-ex activities exceed 3 hours in length, which well exhausts an undergraduate's attention span and enthusiasm.Also, many of the long physiology experiments require fresh dissections; often the specimen (such as a beating heart) does not stay fresh long enough for students to complete the activity.This leaves them (and me) confused and frustrated.

A wonderful addition...
...either to your library of as a medical reference. A very beautiful book that shows some of the most beautiful pictures of anatomy.

Must Have for A&P Students
This is a great resource for anyone in A&P. Most topics are easy to follow and to understand. There are a few errors (or, that's what my A&P instructor told me), but not enough to worry about. Excellent!
There were few more detailed structures that I was not able to find at this anatomy book, but overall I really liked it.

solid resource
This book is a very good pocket resource for those first acquiring a grasp on Orthopedics. It includes info on most anatomy and many common disorders with those great Netters pictures.
I give it only 4 stars because it does squeeze a ton of info into condensed and abbreviated tables, lacking good explanations for a lot of the subject matter. You get good pictures and basic info on most disorders, but you'll still find yourself seeking more background info.

2nd year medical student
This book provides great material in easy to understand tables and pictures.Great for anyone interested in the field as it offers various surgical procedures and gives a brief description of them.Small enough to fit in purse or brief case.

AMAZING!
Amazing book. I keep it in my white coat and pull it out at free moments to review, study, and learn anatomy. It has even more than the large Netter - a lot of new diagrams and charts and tables focused on orthopedics. A must have for med students interested in ortho as a career. It may be too heavy for residents to carry around on a daily basis, however.

misleading product info by publisher
The book is ok, to be honest it made things clear BUT it clearly stated from the publisher that there was a companion website that offered animations, quiz generators etc. etc.sound good?well, not so fast, the only thing on the website is an image bank of the illustrations ALREADY IN THE BOOK!Apparently the rest of it is only available for instructors.Of course, once you scratch off and reveal the code to enter the website it nullifies your ability to return the book.And those "pocket size" study cards are just more illustrations but the size is much larger than normal pockets (hint: they are pages to be torn from the book..full sized pages) most would assume pocket sized to mean about the size of a 3x5 card otherwise just lug the book around.In any case, like I said the book I would rate a 3-4 the resources promised -1

Great review study tool for the HESI
I bought this book as a study tool for the A&P portion of the HESI exam.I am finding it to be simple to read and understand but also indepth enough that I feel it will help me remember some of the information I've forgotten since taking A&P in the summer of 2009.I highly recommend this book to anyone taking the HESI or anyone who just wants a good overview of the principles of A&P.

This book is amazing. I bought it with the lab guide for a joint lab/lecture class. The pictures match up identically and are very clear.

I ordered Human Anatomy by Michael McKinley, Valerie O'Loughlin from amazon and paid for one day shipping. the estimated delivery date is august 31, but i still don't see my order. the status of this order is "SHIPPING SOON". should still trust Amazon?

Not in the best condition
Overall, this product will work for the purposes that I have for it. It was cheaper than the brand new book, and that's all I really cared about.

Big complaint: there is considerable water damage to the last pages of the book. This includes the last chapter, index, glossary, etc. The damage is quite extensive, to where you have to peel the pages apart to look at them.

Hopefully I won't need that portion of the book too much, but it would certainly be nice to have a glossary and index that are in better shape.

The best human anatomy text I've come across
In a field where several excellent titles are available, this text manages to stand out.

Perfect
I purchased this book as a review exercize for RN school, since its been about 2 years since I took anatomy. I would recommend this for anybody either In class (as a supplement) or reviewing, like myself, in that it shows you where everything is, tells you what it is, and even explains funtions.
For someone who might want to use this book for fun, or to get a head start on A&P, it would even be worthwhile because of the explanations it gives you for functions, and the fact that the reading is short, and directly pertains to the activities of coloring the parts.

Great Study Tool...Some Errors....
I bought this coloring book to help study for my Anatomy & Physiology class.I did not rely on this to help me study for an exam or anything, but I would use it in conjunction with my text book to really get familiar with the locations of the structures.The diagrams are really clear, and I like that there is a brief description accompanying the structures as well.The reason for the 4 star review is just the fact that there are some labeling errors in the book.If all the errors were corrected I would give this 5 stars for sure!

Compare and save!
This is a required text for A&P 1&2. The campus bookstore sells it at $213.35. Buying this book from Amazon I saved $53.61, 25%! I also didn't have to sacrifice quaility since the book is new.

A great book for class or personal study!
I bought this book on Amazon for my college classes, because they had the cheapest "new book" price that I could find. This book is great. The pictures and diagrams throughout the book are superior! I haven't even started my class yet, and I can't help but flip through this book looking at what all it has to offer. I am very excited to be using it this year.

If you are a college student and need this particular book for class, the only thing I recommend is making sure you get the right book listed for your class. This one is the Fifth Edition, Copyright 10 of Saladin's books and it is the US Version (not international). I didn't know that there were different versions until my husband pointed it out to me.

This book is a requirement for my A&P 1 and A&P 2 classes. I rented it for A&P 1 and realized that I had to own it for future reference. It is not too hard to understand and easy to study from!

This book is extremely clear and concise. The reading is easy and the diagrams are extremely easy to interpret. I found this book to be a great introduction to Anatomy and Physiology. Great book for anatomy of dog's
I required this book for a class on Canine Massage. It is great !!
I had used one for Human anatomy and the idea worked. I was glad to find that they had one for Canines and Horses.
I suggest using copies of you pages as coloring pages and keep your original clean. I also enlarged several of the major plates.
I then took them and hung up and located the bones on my dog.

Coloring Book
If this book was not needed for one of my daughter's courses, we would not have purchased it. Expecting to see a very colorful representation of the brain all the pages were without color. I guess we did not read the title fully. But not as sophisticated as my daughter had thought it would be.

Great Book
I was at a local book fair and stumbled across this book, flipped through a few pages, and decided to pick it up for $2.50.All I can say is that was an absolute steal!I am an entry level civil engineer with a great interest in urban planning and architecture working for a city.I do have an understanding of some processes, but this book is a great guide to covering general city processes; nicely illustrated and presented very well.

very interesting book
I found this book in a bargain bin, and thought it seemed so interesting I had to buy it. It didn't disappoint. I've always been interested in how everyday, overlooked stuff works, and what's more common and overlooked than city infrastructure?The book was presented in a clear and visually interesting way, with plenty of detail, but not an overwhelming amount.There were only a few things I would improve on it.As someone who works in emergency services, I would have been interested in more on how that works in New York (police, fire, ems). The thought occured to me that a really facinating spread could have been done on a cross section of a typical street, from street level to 100ft down. Most every utility, the subway, etc runs under the street, and there is so much going on underfoot, it's almost hard to figure how it all fits. Overall, a great read for the layman. An entertaining approach to a potentially dry subject.

"Look Inside..."- Seriously?
This book looks great, but my criticism is for the LOOK INSIDE feature on Amazon.Note to the publisher - if you are going to block virtually every single image from the Look Inside preview, perhaps it is best to just not offer the option.It is very frustrating for the potential customer, particularly for such a graphics-based book.There are plenty of competitors that offer a generous preview through the site.

This is a wonderful resource that explains the nuisances of what it takes to keep New York City operating.It was excellently illustrated and diagrammed so may can see how things work.It is also a valuable resource of statistics concerning New York City.For instance, New York has 11,000 miles of local streets, 7,300 miles of secondary roads, and 1,250 miles of highways.The Grid Plan adopted in 1811 set the basis for Manhattan streets.Roads were clogged so more northbound streets were created.

The number of roads increased 45% from 1983 to 2002 while the population increased 10%.Yet, rush hour traffic increased from occurring an average of 3.4 hours to 7 to 8 hours a day.

No way TMI.Simply beautiful.
I am not a reviewer, so this will be short.What I want to say is in response to a review that said the book suffered from TMI.My sense is that the reviewer utterly missed the boat when he lost the connection between Carter's devastating struggles in finding and valuing his true self amidst the religious dogma of his day, and Hayes' own struggles with coming out.That these were resolved relatively early in a long-term passionate, loving relationship with his partner, Steve, is one of the most beautiful parts of the book.It is late in the story that the reader comes to know this book as a meditation on life and death, which helps Hayes make meaning (if such a thing is possible) of his own immense loss.This is a memoir of utmost restraint, told with a poet's attention to detail, by a deeply interested, curious and wise person.Hayes doesn't flinch from the hard facts and faces the vulnerability of knowing we are all going to die and there's nothing we can do to control it.

An anatomist reviews The Anatomist
I just finished reading The Anatomist by Bill Hayes and as an anatomist who teaches medical school, I found it interesting on a number of levels. Mr. Hayes' descriptions of the anatomy labs of today were pretty accurate. I must agree with another reviewer that the book IS NOT about Henry Gray since not that much is known about Henry Gray. It is more about Henry Carter, the illustrator of Gray's Anatomy, and a great anatomist and physician in his own right. Additionally, the book is, as the other reviewer said, more about Bill Hayes' experiences in the anatomy lab than it is about the history of my profession, one which has a long and fascinating history. I, however, don't fault Mr. Hayes except for a glaring anatomical error on page 220 where he whispers to himself that the three muscles that attach to the pes anserinus are the "Sartorius, gracilis and biceps femoris". The biceps femoris attaches to the head of the fibula on the lateral aspect of the leg. Hopefully, the mnemonic he quotes "Say grace before food" is not being passed along at UCSF as the way to remember the three muscles that attach to the pes anserinus. The third muscle, by the way, is the semitendinosus.

Anatomy for Everyperson
The Anatomist is a delightfully told story about Henry Gray and Henry (HV) Carter, the author and the illustrator, of the landmark and still in use monumental tome, Gray's "Anatomy, Descriptive and Surgical".

I was first introduced to "Gray's Anatomy" while taking Human Anatomy in College on my way to degrees in the psychological sciences. That was many years ago. Years later, my interest in anatomy was again piqued while studying the life and works of Leonardo Da Vinci whom many consider the father of medical illustration.

So it was that when I came upon a copy of "The Anatomist" I grabbed it, sight unseen as it were.

It proved a good read, interesting, full of the history of the study of human anatomy, and as the title purports, Gray's Anatomy in particular. It is largely seen through the eyes of H.V. Carter the illustrator. The historical tract for Carter is extensive. That for Gray himself has been lost.

Hayes takes one not only through the history of anatomy, but manages with some skill to take the reader right into the dissection room where the wonders of the unveiled human body are revealed. Tastefully done this short work is well work reading.

For those who do not know, Gray's Anatomy is not the television series, Grey's Anatomy, it is the medical school anatomy textbook after which the series is named.The Anatomist is a nonfiction book about the author and the illustrator of this famous textbook which was written 150 years ago and is it in its 39th edition.Physicians all over the world use it in dissecting cadavers and learning human anatomy.Additional stories that Bill Hayes skillfully weaves into the main story are his own experiences participating in anatomy classes with doctors, physical therapists, and pharmacists, and the story of working with his partner sifting through books, manuals, catalogs, diaries, and letters in libraries and archives in England and India as they uncover the story of the lives of these two men, both named Henry, Henry Gray, M.D.and Henry or H.C.Cartwright, M.D., Illustrator.
Henry Gray is a man driven by ambition, fame, status, and money and is the principle force behind the writing of a concise and inclusive manual of anatomy to be used as a guide to dissection of the human body.He does achieve his goal but meets an early painful demise at the peak of a successful career.H.V.Carter, the illustrator, is the coauthor but was not given credit in name or financially to the degree that Dr. Gray was.He is a complicated, driven, obsessive, self deprecating man with strong Christian beliefs whose motivations regarding the book are to make the world a better place and live a life commensurate with his religious values.He pursues it with little regard for status, fame and fortune.His life is productive but tortured, and his career takes him to India studying and writing about tropical diseases.He has a scandalous marriage in India that leaves his wife and himself leading separate lives, he living in India, she in Europe with an occasional rendezvous when he is able to take a break from his work in India.She dies at an early age.He eventually acquires stature and fortune in the British government Indian Medical Service and remarries.At the age of 50, he presents his research on tropical diseases to peers such as Louis Pasteur, Robert Koch, and Joseph Lister.I will leave the rest for the reader to discover.It is an interesting tale.
To research the book the author, Bill Hayes, participates in anatomy classes and cadaver dissections with medical students, pharmacists, and physical therapists.Interwoven in the story of the two authors is a tour of the human body and the process of learning anatomy through dissection of human cadavers.It involves teamwork and getting to know the different types of people and their feelings of awe as they visualize, touch and feel the parts and understand the workings of the human body.It is an anatomy education for the lay person as well as some insight into the personalities of the different professionals.The other part of researching the book involved working with his partner who assists with the research by sifting through letters, diaries, notes, medical research papers, anatomy manuals, etc. both in Great Britain and in India.The materials are 150 years old and frequently illegible or very difficult to read.Of interest also are the authors' experiences gaining access to archives and dealing with various archivists.There is a much unexpected ending to the book that I will leave the readers to find.
Personally, as a Physician, I have read Gray's Anatomy and used it in my dissection of a cadaver.That experience made the reading of this book particularly appealing.The book is of educational value to those without a medical background.It also gives insight into the personality types of the different professionals that the author worked with.The three stories of Dr. Gray and Dr. Cartwright, the anatomy classes, and Bill Hayes and his partner's research experiences were cleverly interwoven.The only negative I would say about the book is that the descriptions of Bill Hayes' experiences in anatomy class occasionally became a little long to sustain interest.The stories were fascinating, and I would rate the book as excellent.It was well researched, well written, and very interesting reading.I would recommend it to anyone.It is not a book with the gay theme but has a gay author. It is not written for the gay reader only but is a mainstream book.

Excellent Anatomy book
This Anatomy book really helped me understand exactly how even the smallest parts of the human body look. I am studying speech therapy, so to be able to see an actual larynx was very beneficial to me.

A gold standard for learning anatomy but for serious students of anatomy you need Acland Anatomy DVD
Rohen and Netter are great at showing you the anatomical parts in a 2 dimensional style, but using these great atlases with Acland DVDs will aid in efficiently learning anatomy in a way that you would barely need the help of the instructors.Acland DVDs have the advantage of dissecting the structures from start to finish and then showing you how all of it functions as a whole to the physiology of the body.I used Netter's, Rohen and Acland DVDs to for my anatomy class and it increased my efficiency of learning by ten fold.

I've looked at them all and this one is really helpful
I'll keep this short and sweet.To get through gross anatomy (with cadaver lab) I use Netter's and this.Period.Sure the dissections are perfect, unlike mine, but the photos are amazing, well labeled and highly detailed. There are coronal/longitudinal sections, MRI/CT scans, and a few schematic drawings as well.We have every major atlas and dissection guide you can imagine in our lab and I took the time to look at them all and compare.This is a great resource, it's not that large and the hardcover will ensure it lasts at least throughout your academic career.Also - I got a great price and quick delivery through Amazon.I joined Amazon student which I had only heard of recently and enjoyed free expedited shipping.

Great for cadaver lab!
I don't know how I would have gotten through my cadaver lab without this book. We are tested on cadavers (not pictures) and this was a great way to fuse the information gained from drawn pictures and actual cadavers. I would definitely recommend this to anyone taking anatomy lab.
