I find this book to be thoroughly useful because for each flower, it lists the ways it can be used: as an herb, a homeopathic remedy, and as a flower essence. The photography is astonishing!Being able to see how the flower really looks, is very helpful when I'm working with clients. The photos and illustrations really convey the true nature of the flower. This is a blessing of a book!

Product Description
Aromatherapy is the fastest growing form of complementary therapy in the UK and USA, and is rapidly being employed by nurses and other health care professionals in the hospital, hospice and community settings. Written by a nurse for nurses, this well referenced book highlights how clinical aromatherapy can enhance nursing care and the role of a nurse. It discusses the implications of essential oils becoming prescribed items, and covers pharmacokinetics and the use of essential oils with orthodox medications. 5-0 out of 5 stars Primary book for Aromatherapy Education
As a consultant and instructor of Clinical Aromatherapy, I have students representing a wide variety of professions.I consider this book to be a MUST for anyone seriously interested in learning the Science of Aromatherapy as well as the Art. When consulting with hospitals or medical practitioners, this book answers the questions that most frequently arise and is used as one of the primary references.Jane's easy to read book is invaluable.

5-0 out of 5 stars The aromatherapy "Bible" for health care professionals.
Rather than being just another aromatherapy cookbook, Clinical Aromatherapy in Nursing is a comprehensive guide on the use of this complementary modality in the clinical arena. It provides a strong clinicalfocus from the nursing perspective, including the incorporation ofAromatherapy into the Nursing Diagnosis and Care Plan as well asregulations and health and safety policies.

The author presents arefreshing and very compassionate approach to nursing care, one that I feelcould fundamentally change the paradigm of the way we deliver care to ourpatients. For nurses who are experiencing care-giver burnout, this book isan inspiration to what our profession is really about.

While this bookwill not qualify a nurse to practice clinical aromatherapy without formaltraining, it will be an instrumental framework for incorporating thismodality into the nursing model.

Having completed Janes 5 moduletraining program after reading this book, I can highly recommend both thebook and the course to all health care professionals.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!
This is a wonderful, wonderful book on aromatherapy!Like Valerie Worwood's The Fragrant Mind, it goes beyond essential oils per se and delves into emotions. And he does so complete with beautiful lineillustrations on themargins and photographs in full living color. Guaranteed to delight you!

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful work !
In this book, the author made an splendid introduction of TCM basics like the Yin Yang theoryand 5 elements.Your clearly way to explain and merge the aspects of traditional western Aromatherapy with Chinese Medicinefundaments, do this work a very good way to people interested learn both. The acupressure directions to help in many disorders and the explanationsabout psychological help of essential oils are other important elements ofthis book. The author made correlations of each oil"personality" with strong mythological and religious symbols andit help us to "feel" the oil soul even never smell it.This is avery important work and I encourage everybody interested in Aromatherapyand TCM must read it.

5-0 out of 5 stars emotional/mental/spiritual healing via aromatherapy
Mojay has presented a lovely, gentle guide to healing the psyche thru the use of Essential Oils.Introductory chapters are an overview of Chinese Medical Concepts which are difficult for my pragmatic Western mind to grasp. However, his pages on each essential oil are much clearer, referring back to the oriental concepts, but also describing the effect of each oil in a terminology I found more comfortable. He gives a loving description of each EO, an overview of its history, current therapeutic uses, known safety data, and its impact on the mind and psyche. The last section of the book deals with Restoring Balance. He describes various forms of emotional/spiritual imbalance and gives suggested formulas for dealing with them. This is, in my opinion, the finest popular work on the market today dealing with the emotional effects of Aromatherapy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Aromatherapy book
Very good book and definitely worthwile to purchase. It has many topics for uses of aromatherapy and herbal remedies. She packs lots of useful information and it is well organized. She shows how to make perfumes, massage oils, herbal remedies for people and animals, some beauty formulas for hair and skin, also a whole section on essential oils with uses and cautions. You won't regret buying this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book
Great service. I would buy from this seller again. Book is very informative if you're interested in aromatherapy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
I love this book and refer to it constantly. It's very well laid out and is easily accessible as a reference book. Thanks!

5-0 out of 5 stars Holistic Approach to Aromatherapy
This book contains brief descriptions of about 50 - 60 essential oils and while it does contain aromatherapy recipes for different conditions, they are not the focus of the book as the author believes that ultimately, you should follow your intuition when putting together aromatherapy blends. This is something that gets much easier with experience.

The book does have some interesting information like "Believe it or not, no two people can blend an identical-smelling fragrance, even though they may use exactly the same blend of oils in exactly the same quantities from the same bottles.Amazingly, the oil will always take on an spect of the blender's personality - their aromatic signature."

The book is divided in chapters, each dedicated to a different system in the body: circulatory, endocrine, nervous, muscular, etc. - each chapter beginning with a description of the funcitoning of a particular system, following by recommended oils that may be effective in optimizing that system.

One section of the book is dedicated to massage techniques and contains lots of color photographs to make the points clearer.

There is a chapter on proper nutrition, on yoga exercises (surya namaskar is illustrated as an example), meditation and even cleansing and strengthening your aura, as the author notes that aromatherapy can provide the best results as a part of holistic nurturing and care of your mind, body and spirit.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent guide for aromatherapy enthusiasts
This book explains all things about aromatherapy: from its history, to how essential oils are distilled, to good aromatherapy "recipes" for many common problems. It also contains many ideas about how to help thetreatments, or adminster them. Ms. Wildwood is incredibly thorough, andrespectable in her suggestions about integrating this with traditional andalternative medicine. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A bit difficult
This is not an essential book for the aromatherapy novice. It would not call it a quick reference at all. It contains some excellent information but to find it you will have to take some time to read the book. It covers a number of aromatherapy techniques which is very handy.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wealth of information!
This huge book offers a wealth of information to someone who is new to aromatherapy or just curious about it.It has a section on just about every essential oil you can think of, where it comes from, what it's good for, and any precautions.Another section suggests different "recipes" made with essential oils for everything from soothing a cold to setting a romantic mood.If you're interested in aromatherapy, buy this book! You won't be disappointed.

A beautifully presented book that is easy to read and refer to.It contains specific recipes for different oils and their applications.I found it invaluable for household and personal use when I wanted to use anatural, non-harmful product around my family.

2-0 out of 5 stars A gentle introduction to Aromatherapy.
I remember getting this book when I first began studying Aromatherapy. At the time, it was one of a limited number of books available on the subject and acted as a "nice, fireside" introduction to the practice. Now however, it is sadly dated, offering few references and is a bit thinon information. It will always be a gentle introduction to the subject. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
I first checked out the hardback version of this book from our local library. I found it by browsing the stacks in the call number for aromatherapy. It caught my eye with the word "seasons." I fell head over heels in love! I renewed it as many times as possible while my daughter and I had fun mixing up various recipes from the book. Her favorite is "Sweet Dreams," which she used every night for a month this past summer.

When I could no longer renew the book, I looked it up online and purchased this paperback version in "very good" used condition through Amazon. I had a challenging time finding either version and wonder if it is out of print. I got it for a decent price finally and counted the days until it arrived. Quick shipping and in the condition described. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

For more in-depth reviews (including descriptions of the content), check out the hardback version of the book. The cover has a different picture and the name is slightly different. Same authors and same content...everything between the covers is identical.

I have three other Aromatherapy books (all different authors). My first is a general overview with nice pictures and charts (Penny Rich) and includes information on different ways to apply EOs. My second purchase was an A-Z reference manual (Patricia Davis), which focuses on using EOs in massage therapy and describes a lot of EOs. My third is specific to children (Valerie Worwood). I like all three of these books for different reasons and I refer to them often.

What I like so much about this book is that it has a completely different tone and approach from my other books. It is a practical usage book... akin to a cookbook! I like simple recipes for therapeutic purposes and this book delivers in a unique and FUN way.

5-0 out of 5 stars Straight Forward
This is a great book for getting acquainted with aromatherapy. This book is so straight forward that you can immediately begin using the 'recipes' without further knowledge or equipment. It is not cluttered with details but delivers just enough to get started.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yet Another Aromatherapy Winner
Aromatherapy Answers and now Aromatherapy Through The Seasons. As Aromatherapy through the Seasons is possibly more pleasurable to the eyes and the perfect gift, the combination of the two books is a must for any aromatherapy shelf..

5-0 out of 5 stars Delightful and Informative book
Friends and authors Judy Fitzsimmons and Paul Bousquet have succeed in bringing aromatherapy to life.Written in practical, informative, and fun chapters this book is easy to read and learn from.In addition to the history of the oils and traditional uses, they have provided very easy and practical recipes.

The recipes use the basic oils covered in the book. For the beginner (or home aromatherapist) is this great!I have always been frustrated by aromatherapy books that give recipes and then you need 100 different oils to make them!I don't want shelves of oils I only need for one or two recipes. And, I don't always know what will work as a substitution. This is not the case here. Seasons is written with practicality in mind. The authors really want you to experience and enjoy true aromatherapy!Their love of aromatherapy comes through the words.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great start
This is a great book to use to get oriented to using essential oils because the authors have selected a short list of basic oils, 12 in number, that are a good balance of stimulating, relaxing, "breathe easy", skin and hair enhancing, and cleansing oils and they are reasonably priced, except for the chamomile. They also offer a short list of 12 oils that one might want to try next. They suggest a variety of ways to apply and use the essential oils and all of them are easy to apply.I have given this book to several people, along with small amounts of the oils, because it is a fine introduction and avoids the confusing mass of options that might discourage a beginner. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars This Book is a MUST have
As I was starting to learn Aromatherapy my High Priestess lent me her book to start out with. I fell in love with this book "The Magick of Aromatherapy: " that I kept turning to her for the book for information I couldn't find in any other books I acquired.. I have 7 in all.. This is a MUST have for any serious student of Aromatherapy ~ Serenity ~

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect!
I had to give this book 4 out of 5 stars simply because it didn't have some oils listed in it that I thought should have been, and had some that I didn't think should have been (i.e, did not have tangerine or lemongrassand a couple other popular ones I can't recall offhand, but did liststrawberry, apple, civet and ambergris which are usuallyartificial/synthetics which I don't use.)

But, aside from that, it hasmany recipes and blends for both magickal and theraputic uses as well asquite a few good correspondence tables in the back that always come inhandy! There are sections for prosperity and success, health, love andlust, general recipes, and more that escapes me at the moment. Since I gotthis book a few weeks ago it has been one of my main references along withCunningham's Magical Aromatherapy and compliments my theraputic (read:non-magickal) aromatherapy books nicely. The first half of the book ismagickal and general application information about oils and thier uses, andhas summaries of all the oils used in the book one by one. The second halfis blends, recipes and correspondences. The writing style is great, it'seasy to read and put to use immediately. I especially liked the print type- done in a dark forest green on off-white recycled paper, very easy on theeyes and you feel as if you are reading a hand written book or someone'snotes.

Overall, I think the Magick of Aromatherapy is a valuableaddition to anyone interested in the magickal applications of aromatherapyandessential oils but wants some medicinal and theraputic info as well;it hits the mark on both. Even for those who may have books of this typealready and some on "regular" aromatherapy (like I do) will findvalue in it as the recipes/blends are different and more varied than most Ihave run across; a rather eclectic mix. It's also a good book for someonewho doesn't already have a book or two of this type and would make a greatgift for someone just starting out in magick or whose interests lean thatway and they are interested in aromatherapy, just add acouple ofinexpensive essential oils, a nice bow and voila'! ... This book would make a great gift for anyone you know who is expecting. The book itself is small and fits in my purse easily. This book covers quite a few helpful topics for during pregnancy and child care after thedelivery.I liked the section for the partners, which explains whyaromatherapy is beneficial and encourages them to massage you (which isalways a plus). The layout of the book was confusing, because it jumpedright into pregnancy care without much discussion of the essential oils touse first. It may be better to buy this book if you already know a bitabout aromatherapy.I really like the chart at the end of the book tellingyou the oils to use in each trimester. It makes looking up a particularoil very easy. This book is a good thing to have on hand while you arepregnant. It tells just enough to give you all the information you need tosafely use aromatherapy in pregnancy without repeating itself.I thinkI'll take it to the hospital! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
This is an awesome book. I can't wait to try some of the formulas. There's a lot of information regarding our sense of smell and how it works along with formulas to try to enhance your sensuality and sexuality.

5-0 out of 5 stars Aromatherapy for Pleasure
Valerie Ann Worwood has created one of the most interesting and entertaining books on sensuality and sexuality I've ever read. She presents intriguing stories from history and includes a short section on the language of love in flowers and herbs.

Valerie Ann Worwood seems to work as a part-time sex therapist, making up blends for various concerns. She advises against using aphrodisiacs like Spanish fly and suggests using a variety of essential oils to induce passion or interest in sensuality.

There are lots of recipes using a wide variety of essential oils. For example here are the ingredients for an uplifting bath: pettigrain, neroli and orange. For anxiety you might want to try rose, chamomile and neroli.

While this book is mostly for women there is a section on the sensual man. Women might be interested in making up some blends for their lover. In the women's section there are recipes for PMS massage oils and cellulite eliminator oils.

The chapter on touch/massage is very helpful and informative although I'd recommend watching a massage DVD in addition to reading the chapter. There is an interesting section on how to scent "ink" for when you write your lover letters.

While others have complained that there is no safety information on the oils used I can report that there is a list of oils not to use and many cautions throughout the various sections about essential oils that are poisonous and could irritate the skin or mucous membranes. There is definitely a warning about not using too much ginger.

Some of the essential oils used in this book include: lavender, bergamot, jonquil, tonka bean, chamomile, petitgrain, patchouli, rose orange, cedarwood, neroli, chamomile and jasmine. I was surprised that she didn't mention the artificial Egyptian musk (Caswell Massey sells it or look for The Body Shop Musk Perfume Oil) as it is a very sexy fragrance.

I can also recommend:

Aura Cacia Pure Aromatherapy, Love Potion, .5-Ounces(Pack of 2)

Kama Sutra Massage Oil Therapy Kit

Herbal Infusion Tea-Passion

4-0 out of 5 stars The romance of fragrance
The author examines the powerful sense of smell and shows how pure essential oils of nature can enhance the pleasures of daily life, with emphasis on the romantic side of life. The chapters discuss questions like What are essential oils? How to use them, The scentuous woman, The scentuous man and Synergistic blends of oils, among others. The text includes many tables of oils suitable to various body types and hair colours as well as tables recommending the right oils for a variety of conditions including tension, stress, anxiety and depression. This is quite an authoritative book on essential oils and their applications with a beautifully illustrated text. An extensive bibliography and index round off this valuable contribution to the literature on the therapeutic uses of fragrance. Definitely a must for aromatherapists and for practitioners of alternative medicine.

4-0 out of 5 stars A useful guide for more advanced work
I agree that there should be warnings about a few of the oils mentioned in this book. That aside, it is well worth getting if you are more experienced and know something about the oils already. It is full of manyideas and recipes specific to romantic and sexual aromatherapy, and wouldhelp complete that area of your library.I recommend it not as a basic, but as something more in depth.

1-0 out of 5 stars Where's the safety info?
Why is there no safety data in this book?I realize that different "experts" in any given field can disagree slightly. However, I saw at least 3 essential oils mentioned in this book that were listed astoxic in one of my other books. She never even mentioned the possibilitythat these oils weren't safe. I expect "experts" to at least letme know that an oil is considered questionable by others so that I can makean informed decision for myself. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Really fun!
This is such a fun book - the artwork that decorates every page is terrific, the writing style is fun, and while I've only played with a few recipes so far - I can definitely say so far so good! The book opens with an intro to faeries, the flowers of faeries, and essential oils. The it gets to drying flowers/herbs (I actually buy mine but plan to expand the gardens next spring so I might be doing some rdying next summer). There's general info on making potpourri in here like using fixatives to keep the scents etc. Then there's a great one-pager that lists the different plants and the type of scent they have so you can be creative if you want too.The recipes comprise the rest of the book and they have great names like "christmas magic", "dance of the morning nymphs" etc.On the facing page to each recipe is a little text of faerie lore pertaining to different plants that were used in the recipe. The recipes are broken out by season so as you welcome the changes of the year you can make a corresponding potpourri. The results are pretty and smell nice too.

1-0 out of 5 stars a bit of a waste
the book is just a bit too cutesy, and doesn't really fit in any category. It is certainly not a guide to scent or perfume blending, nor is it a book about aromatherapy.I regret spending the money on it, and plan to offer it used for the price of shipping.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you want to use aromatherapy on babies you need this book
The authors bring many years of experience inaromatherapy to the writing of this book. They cover their topics in a clear concise manner yet with enough depth that the reader feels empowered to act. My only criticismsare: The authors selection of oils, though well done, left out a fewreally important oils and the section on "inhalation" wasn't ascomplete as I'd have liked. The section on massage was very well done withexcellent photographs. If you are new to using pure essential oils insupport of your younger family members health this is a must buy. ... Read more

Product Description
This book contains a foreword by Robert Tisserand and Angela Avis, Respectively, Aromatherapist and Senior Lecturer, School of Health Care, Oxford Brookes University. "We accurately extrapolate from scientific studies meaningful hypotheses that can be used to develop a host of effective treatment strategies for common dermatological conditions. Through the course of our work, we have encountered individuals seeking relief from the symptoms of many skin disorders and aroma dermatology is as much about offering an integrated, complementary approach, as it is about providing alternatives in cases where mainstream approaches have little to offer." - Janetta Bensouilah and Philippa Buck, in the preface. 'With the growing interest in aromatherapy, it is important that therapists and healthcare professionals are able to offer a valid rationale when integrating essential oils into clinical care. Sound knowledge of bio-chemical principles and the ability to critically appraise and apply relevant research are fundamental requirements. This book offers a comprehensive, in-depth view of current knowledge. The authors have skilfully woven research and clinical application.A range of therapeutic possibilities is explored and offers practitioners alternative approaches to the management of skin conditions. These include detailed discussions on different methods of application. I hope that this book will become a standard text on both pre-qualifying and CPD courses in aromatherapy.' - Angela Avis, in her foreword. ... Read more
