This book is great for my first grade students.The 28 topics can be correlated to the curriculum subjects or reading topic I am focusing on for the week.The lessons offer book links, as well as guided and independent lessons for each topic.It takes a week to complete each topic.Which is great because it provides a step by step approach about how to present the subject matter and having the students prepared for independent writing and publishing on the topic at the end of the week.Teaching the Six traits?This provides excellent modeling of the traits. ... Where's the F/X?
I thought this book included some F/Xs but when opening the book I realised the book does not include any tips and tricks of F/X. Anyhow, for a beginner this book can be useful but for an advanced user it's useless.

Don't waste your money
I was extremely disappointed by the lessons in this book. They are really nothing special at all and I don't think I found a single lesson in the book worth doing with my K-5 students. Two thumbs down.

Can't believe I bought this book!
Most of these lesson plans could be found elsewhere, for instance on state curriculum websites. The graphics are laughable. I wanted some new and different lesson plans, and these ideas are stale. Try "Funbrarian." Cheaper book, more FUN! ... Read more

Excellent Companion Book
This book, conveniently spiral bound, serves as a companion book to Oxford Picture DIctionary and is meant to be used by a teacher as a lesson plan resource.I teach ESL and it is an integral part of my lesson plan.The book follows the subjects in OPD and is thus easily coordinatable with the OPD.I would rcommend it highly to anyone teaching ESL to adults.
