5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best cake recipe books you'll find...
I've been a big fan of Women's Weekly recipes ever since I was little (having grown up in Australia and watching my mum collect all their recipe cards and books). I started using their recipes to bake cakes as a teenager, and haven't stopped since! I received this book as a birthday present, and it's certainly been put to good use. The recipes are clear, easy-to-follow, with beautiful photos. The very first recipe in the book is for "Lemon Cream Cheese Cake" and it's already proven to be a favourite with my father, husband, niece, and many, many friends! I've actually lost count how many times I've made it in just the last year. The rest of the recipes are also amazing, with a great variety of cakes. You're sure to find something for everyone in this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars no-fail recipes
This is a mouth-watering collection for cake lovers. The recipes are quick, easy to follow, and the results delicious - I have never had so many compliments for a chocolate cake, and the hummingbird cake is out of this world. Each recipe gives quantities in cups AND grams, as well as calories and fat per slice, etc. The book is also beautifully photographed. In fact, most AWW books are equally fantastic. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Clay Pot Chicken!!
Every recipe in this book is yum.

At least, as yum as low carb can get.

There are many other low carb cookbooks out there, but they're so full of saturated fats you feel like your arteries will turn to solid wax candles before you get to the healthy weight you're aiming for. Others (targeting muscle-bound gym bunnies?) have simple and healthy recipes that take 5 minutes and yet taste like nothing ("eat big pile of boiled brussels sprouts with a steak on top") and make a diet impossible to keep to. For those who don't mind spending between 30 and 90 minutes cooking a really REALLY delicious meal using lots of lean protein, vegetables and fresh herbs and spices, this is the best I've come across so far. Oh, and...CLAY POT CHICKEN I LOVE YOU! ... Read more

Product Description

Australians first confronted the oddities of their national cuisine when this gastronomic classic appeared 25 years ago. Because Australia never had a peasant farming class with local cooking customs, the book explains, camp food became the mainstay of the Aussie dining tradition. Portable weekly rations of mutton, flour, and tea had turned the early settlers into a mobile army, and their suburbanite descendants still survive on tins of jam, condensed milk, camp pie, and beer. A cry for action, the book successfully launched a new Australian taste for fresh produce, farm markets, and international flavors more than two decades—one that still exists today.
