Extractions: Butterfields consistently features blues. Buttersfields and Blues West helped give Harmonica Slim the exposure he deserves which makes them worthy of your patronage. Butterfields tends to have scheduled "house bands": Ron Thompson also plays there on Thursday nights; Blues West usually plays on Saturday nights, etc. It is a clean, well lit place with excellent micro-brews and good food. I like their salads. This should be the first place you call if you are in town on a Thursday or Saturday. Brix isn't usually a blues place but they feature Ron Thompson (who is just terrific) every Tuesday night. Ron is a relative new-comer to Fresno and we are privileged to have him. I recently read an ex-San Franciscan quoted as saying "we thought he was a blues god when he lived here." Ron Thompson and a good meal at Brix would be hard to beat! The menu is excellent and not too expensive considering the quality. It a small and artsy looking place. I don't think they have cover charges.

Shockwave and QuickTime take between 30 seconds and a couple of minutes to download, depending upon the song length and the speed of your internet connection. However, you're rewarded with pictures from around the world and up to 5 minutes of music at quality close to CD. You need the QuickTime plug-in v2 or higher to play QuickTime audio/visuals, which come with semi-streaming audio and a streaming sequence of world photography. The MP3 files may first have to download to your hard disc before you can use your favourite music player to listen to them.
