Extractions: Success in a bioinformatics course requires a base of skills and background knowledge. Although most third-year biology students should have this base, most students could benefit from a little review. The links on this page refer you to introductory materials on subjects we believe are critical prerequisites for this course. We have carefully selected these teaching materials for their quality and relevance. Part of the design of BIOL 497 this semester is to do some diagnostic testing at the beginning of the course, then allow participants time to review material that they have forgotten, or didn't have an earlier opportunity to learn. The tutorials on this page are part of that process. And of course, feel free to return to these tutorials at any time during the semester if you feel the need to brush up on one of these subjects. Extractions: archive corpcomms products training ... action Designing interactive online tutorials In vain I searched the Web for models of tutorials that enabled the user to learn actively, or better still, interactively. I suspected that marvellous tutorials existed, but were hidden away on university intranets, or reserved for people who paid. Probably, that was a delusion. You can see my early efforts on Trainagain.com . I have mixed feelings about that site now, and yet it's a very sticky site, so it has to stay, with occasional modifications. Take a look at how other educators are taking advantage of the glories of the Web. Note that tutorials are not the preserve of universities: they're appropriate content for many a commercial site. Classic simplicity Mulder's stylesheets tutorial for Webmonkey is deceptively simple. Interactivity is limited to navigation, which is oh so easy. Instruction is clear, and the tone is friendly and relaxed. This is the tutorial you consult as you work with stylesheets in another window. An excellent low-tech model, and harder to emulate than it looks. http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/authoring/stylesheets/tutorials/tutorial1.html

University Of Wisconsin-Madison-Final Report, Section 3 skill level is higher than that of General chemistry students, reveals that thesestudents still found the online homework very useful. online tutorials. http://www.center.rpi.edu/PewGrant/rd1award/UWMFR3.html
Extractions: Online tutorials. Because students come to class prepared to ask questions after completing the tutorials and because they help structure the discussion sections, less preparation time is required from the TAs. Tutorials also provide an effective substitute for faculty time spent preparing and delivering lectures. When the team did less lecturing and counted on the tutorials to provide a major fraction of the instruction, students were not at a disadvantage.
