4-0 out of 5 stars not just for girls
Interestingly enough I was working at a local boys and girls club last summer as a reading room supervisor. I ended up picking this book up one day while bored and actually asked to take it home! I think I read it in like a day! To me it was very well written for a YA book, the character's had a lot of demention, it wasn't totally predictable, and Shelley was a really nostalgic character for me. Even though She wasn't much younger than me, I could relate well to her self discovery, new experiences growing up, and fascination when she moved. I'm sure any 12, 13, 14 year old would feel the same way! Good read :D

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book
Received this book way ahead of time and in good condition, although it is a used library book. But worth having as a first edition.

He says:

Oh sure, they say they're busy. They say that they didn't have even a moment in their insanely busy day to pick up the phone. It was just that crazy. All lies. With the advent of cell phones and speed dialing, it is almost impossible not to call you. Sometimes I call people from my pants pocket when I don't even mean to. If I were into you, you would be the bright spot in my horribly busy day. Which would be a day that I would never be too busy to call you.

She says:

There is something great about knowing that my only job is to be as happy as I can be about my life, and feel as good as I can about myself, and to lead as full and eventful a life as I can, so that it doesn't ever feel like I'm just waiting around for some guy to ask me out. And most importantly, it's good for us all to remember that we don't need to scheme and plot, or beg anyone to ask us out. We're fantastic.

For ages women have come together over coffee, cocktails, or late-night phone chats to analyze the puzzling behavior of men.

He's afraid to get hurt again.
Maybe he doesn't want to ruin the friendship.
Maybe he's intimidated by me.
He just got out of a relationship.

Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo are here to say that -- despite good intentions -- you're wasting your time. Men are not complicated, although they'd like you to think they are. And there are no mixed messages.

The truth may be He's just not that into you.

Unfortunately guys are too terrified to ever directly tell a woman, "You're not the one." But their actions absolutely show how they feel.

He's Just Not That Into You -- based on a popular episode of Sex and the City -- educates otherwise smart women on how to tell when a guy just doesn't like them enough, so they can stop wasting time making excuses for a dead-end relationship.

Reexamining familiar scenarios and classic mindsets that keep us in unsatisfying relationships, Behrendt and Tuccillo's wise and wry understanding of the sexes spares women hours of waiting by the phone, obsessing over the details with sympathetic girlfriends, and hoping his mixed messages really mean "I'm in love with you and want to be with you."

He's Just Not That Into You is provocative, hilarious, and, above all, intoxicatingly liberating. It deserves a place on every woman's night table. It knows you're a beautiful, smart, funny woman who deserves better. The next time you feel the need to start "figuring him out," consider the glorious thought that maybe He's just not that into you. And then set yourself loose to go find the one who is. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I bought this to help give advice
Seriously, this is best read after you break up with a guy who was totally wrong for you.And some of these things are so DUH, its like why didn't I see this coming a few years ago? That is, if you're like me and waiting on one of these reasons, wondering why the guy won't do this or that, this is the book for you!I did read this after a breakup. Some of these letters are hysterical, but they get the point across. The obvious things like, He's Not Calling You, He's Sleeping with Someone Else, He's Already Married to Someone Else, Not Sleeping With You, those are in here and its pretty funny at times. But its not like some ladies out there (me one time in college) didn't go through this and wonder if there was a future there. However the others like, He Doesn't Want to Marry You, while not correct for every man, really makes you think if its YOU or MARRIAGE he just doesn't want. And if you're guessing which it is, I suggest you back away very fast! And of course there is the section in here for guys.Which I suggest guys read the entire book incase one of you is doing something thinking you are cool, only to find out you're giving the wrong signals (I've seen it happen).

So while this isn't true for every guy, some instances are dead-on!

And, the book is by far better than the movie of course!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent source of info
Ladies if you have doughts, please read book or listen to audio.I think you get it better if someone tells you.I listen to it 5 times.

1-0 out of 5 stars Extremely one sided
Wow, seriously!I'll admit there is some good common sense information in this book a lot of women could use.If the guy you're interested doesn't call you back or doesn't want to sleep with you, duh!But this author is way too ethnocentric. He's coming from a typical aggressive American kind of attitude that is absolutely not the way that ALL men are. What if the guy you like is from India, (or France, or Germany or...) do you think he'll behave in the exact predictable way that this author would?Hardly- he completely denies that men are different, have different emotional needs, different backgrounds, morals and values. All men do not behave in exactly the same predictable ways.Give me a break Greg!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome book!
Very funny and fabulous read. I know how cliche it is to day a book changed your outlook on life, but this one definately did!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous book!!!
This was an amazingly quick read and completely eye opening.I had never been single as an adult until this past year and was completely clueless about the whole dating scene.I was making mistakes hand over fist and reading signs totally wrong!I found myself nodding along with the book, getting angry at myself and then smiling because it made things so much clearer in the end. This book doesn't beat around the bush ladies! If you can't handle the unvarnished truth, it's not the book for you, but if you don't want to waste your time on all the wrong guys anymore, this is definitely the book for you! ...
