Talks about Poser 7 but shows Poser 6 screens
I have to agree with the previous reviewer in the amount of material covered but for the price that I paid I would have liked the screens to be in Poser 7 and not in Poser 6. It also seems that the cartoon figures were dropped from Poser 7 but had several minutes within these tutorials. If this was really Poser 7 than why not show Poser 7 items.

I contacted the publisher and they said that they used a beta version to produce this tutorial which means that they were actually writing a tutorial for version 6+. The figures from version 6 were used since they didn't know what figures came with version 7. There were no plans to update this product to include references to the version 7 figures (I guess that we'll have to wait for their Poser Pro tutorial for the Poser 7 figures).

If I knew this I would have lower the review by at least 1 star.

Poser 7
This is a great dvd for getting the hang of Poser 7 for those who are new like me.
I also have the books for Poser 7 but I do better with a hands on type of learning, but with both you can learn from the dvd and later you can read up on anything from the books that you have a question on.Plus it comes with a 2nd dvd with execercise files on it.

All in all it's a great investment for those who are serious about Poser and how it can you can use the knowledge from this dvd to express yourself as an artist...... graphics, illustrator, or even photography can be incorporated into poser.

Poser 7 Essential Training
I know that nothing is perfect, but this training content is so far the best. It covers most of the items/topics used in Poser. He uses many examples, and it is easy to understand. Great beginner video!
This is a great video tutorial if you're wanting to learn Pro Tools. Easy-to-follow DVD instructions will help students navigate the somewhat challenging geography of PT from doing the set up to using plug-ins. My students can learn at their own pace and I have a resource for years to come.

The place to start...
I find the technical part of being an independent musician very intimidating--cables, recording, etc.For me, this video was great because it covered the basics of audio recording in a systematic, logical and comprehensible way, then took me through the basics of ProTools and into intermediate recording & editing strategies.What I want now is some detailed coverage of advanced mixing and editing tricks, though; I expect that they'll put this out in the next volume. EXCELLENT BOOK
I tried several other books on the subject before trying this one. It is by far the best I've encountered so far. The tutorial approach is an excllent way to grasp all the fundamentals of VIZ as opposed to other books that only go through a boring explanation of the commands and their functions. This book will teach you how to light a scene effectively, what makes a rendering interesting, making believable materials as well as great modeling techniques. Even though some areas of the interface have changed comparing Autodesk VIZ 4 to 3d Studio VIZ, the differences are minor and this book remains an excellent way of mastering the program.

3D Studio VIZ Tutorials
Excellent, easy to follow, lots of additional tips and information. Very good sample projects allowing to gain knowledge on software use fairly fast. One needs to pay attention to EVERYTHING that's printed, otherwise will miss something very useful.

great for starters!
I bought this book with a background in 3D Max which made it very easy to understand. Although, I think with no experience, this book is an excellant teaching tool for 3D VIZ beginners. It takes you step by step through the process and explains the reasons behind the actions. It's best feature is that all commands are in large bold type while all explanations are in regular font type. You can cruise through picking out the steps of the process if you want to create your model with out reading all of the explanations first. Then you can go back and see the reasons why.
There are a wide range of models that span many disciplines as well. I would recommend this book for anyone who wants to learn the basics of 3D VIZ. ... Read more
