Insofar as there still may be apprehension or misunderstanding or simply lack of familiarity on the part of the public audience concerning the scope and potential of electronic music, SEMI attempts to bridge the gap by presenting concerts, demonstrations, lectures, seminars, and recordings. Obtaining support as a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation from various funding agencies (such as the Connecticut Commission for the Arts, the greater Hartford Arts Council, the Evelyn W. Preston Foundation, the Edward C. and Ann T. Roberts Foundation, and the New England Foundation for the Arts), SEMI has strived to present at least one concert a year.
