Yesterday I wanted to show my muscles and who was the boss, so I sent Ernesto, the most "independent learner" of the class (see Level B of the "Framework of European Languages" for reference) to the Farmer in order to have him scolded. I led the boy to the Farmer ’s office and remained outside to respect the student's privacy. I just put my ear on the door as I was tired; obviously my intention was not to listen but, in any case, the student’s cries were so loud that I would have heard them even from the School Cottage. After a while they became so earsplitting that I had to open the door wide and beg: "Mercy on the poor boy, please!" but what I saw was so appalling that it literally left me dumbfounded: the two guys were playing cards! Under an agreement reached in October, Mazda will pay $4.05 million in civil penalties for allegedly violating a February 1997 FTC order. It was the largest civil penalty ever obtained by the Commission's Bureau of Consumer Protection. The 1997 order required Mazda to disclose important leasing terms clearly and conspicuously. The FTC found, however, that Mazda's television leasing ads continued making disclosures that were in small and unreadable print, offset by distracting images or sounds, or that appeared on the screen for too short a time. Mazda will also pay a total of $1.2 million in fines and costs to 24 states as part of the settlement. "This substantial penalty should not only deter future violations of the FTC's order by Mazda, but send a strong signal to everyone in the automobile industry manufacturers, dealers and advertising agencies that important leasing information cannot be buried in fine print," said Bureau of Consumer Protection Director Jodie Bernstein. "This information is vital to consumers who are thinking about leasing or purchasing a vehicle." The 1997 FTC order required Mazda's print and television lease ads to "clearly and conspicuously" inform consumers of important leasing terms such as the amount due at lease inception, and prohibited the company from highlighting only the most attractive lease terms such as low monthly payments.

One night I made the mistake of playing the computer game "The Sims" before going to bed, and no matter how hard I tried, I could think of nothing else but little people walking around in a small little house and dropping food all over the floor and me telling them to clean it up. Due to this, if I were to base my A3 on one of my dreams, the theme would have to be "a normal day", which is not very interesting at all. Therefor, I have decided to "invent" a dream by taking small aspects of my everday week and evolve a theme out of that.

During the second half Cherie will be replaced by the serio-comic, highly dependable and self-deprecating Tom Pauken. This is going to be fun. The next morning is Rosh Hashanah and, after paying my respects, I spend fifty dollars and enjoy a para-glide over the lower Alps, (see photo; note the Sony dvx-1000), which means jumping off a cliff (attached to a professional para-glider, of course) with a parachute one can steer. This fabled city sits on a rock surrounded by water. Its cathedral tower points straight up into the sky starkly defining the town in contrast to the peaceful water that surrounds it. The Mont is famous for its high and low tides; dramatic shifts in the surrounding water level that, in the past, have left many a person and/or cow stranded or drowned. Dillard sets up his Betacam along the shore one morning before dawn and awaits the incoming tide. As day breaks, water begins rushing in and he tapes the definitive Mont Saint Michel shot, complete with red gradated filter to lend the image a touch of class. Like the cows of yesteryear, Dillard just barely makes it out of their without getting soaked.
