4-0 out of 5 stars very good reference book
Having become a new owner of a 66 mustang, I wanted to have some reference book to fall back on when doing work on the car. This book is a pretty good one to have as it does touch on most every aspect of the car. There are a few things that are not explained in detail, such as major engine work, and some of instructions do skip steps, as in assuming that you are familiar with what should be done or taken apart to get to another part of the engine. But for the most part, it explains things pretty good and it has made me more comfortable trying to tackle some repairs/replacements. It does cover every aspect of the car, i.e. body, engine, brakes, suspension, electrical, and the diagrams are labeled very well. The book does cost more than having it on cd, but I wanted to be able to have the book in front of me in the garage when working on the car, rather than having to refer back to the computer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Guide
I own a 66 Mustang with an inline 6, and this is a great guide to have for any project. So far i have not noticed any images that were of poor quality, and the program itself opened no problem. Must have for any project.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor installer, little support
Purchased this item in lieu of book.Big mistake! The DRM on the disc requires OpenFile with Acrobat, and the installation of the plugin never seems to take.I've tried finding support for my issue, and the extent given is [...].Completely unhelpful.Pay a little more $ and get the reproduction book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yes!I can live vicariously through my 4 year old again.
One night not a long time long ago I left my TV on one night as background while I was doing dishes and Empire Strikes back was on TV.My 4 year old was playing on the computer in the basement but at some point she wandered up and sat down in front of the TV.To my amazement, she was mesmerized by Empire Strikes back. She kept asking, "what is that Daddy?who is that Daddy?"So I wound up sitting down with her to watch and narrate Empire Strikes back for the beginning of the movie. It was quite the experience. After an hour it was time for bed but said, "Daddy, I want to watch the whole movie."I told her I had the movie on the DVD and that we could watch it on movie night, which is Saturday nights. She gets to stay up and watch a movie in her jammies cuddling with her Daddy on the recliner.

I must say that movie night with Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980 & 2004 Versions, 2-Disc Widescreen Edition)is a heck of a lot better than watching The Jungle Book (40th Anniversary Platinum Edition) or even Finding Nemo (Two-Disc Collector's Edition) for the 847th time (although Finding Nemo is watchable even after 400 times).

I promise, cross my heart and swear that I did not offer a child Star Wars.I blame cable TV but I am so happy that we've moved on to more adult movies --- and Star Wars! This bodes well for the future.

After that, she was hooked and as a fan of Star Wars, I was perfectly happy during movie night.

But, my little girl is inquisitive and wanted to know where they sat in the Millenium Falcon and what was inside, so this book is perfect for that. It's really an "owner's manual" and each page reveals a layer of the Falcon with helpful pointers and guides to the interior, configuration, etc.I'm glad I finally have my "owner's manual" AHEM, I mean to say that I'm very happy that my little girl has an owner's manual for the Millenium Falcon. It's definitely bedtime reading and quite wonderful.

I also ordered the Revell Star Wars -Millennium Falcon which we're going to assemble.I am so glad that I have my very own Millenium Falcon....AHEM, I mean to say that I'm very glad that my little girl now has a model of the Millenium Falcon...but I swear, if she breaks it, she's getting a time out ;-)....and then I'm getting my own that she won't be allowed to play with.

Back to the book. This is wonderfully done and really gives you an inside view at what the Falcon looks like.Get it, enjoy it...relive your childhood. And, even if you don't have a child as an excuse, get it anyway - you only live once.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome way to introduce young jedi to the Star Wars Universe
I saw this at a brick and mortar store an had to look it over.I got a lot of weird looks for reading a kids book in a stor(I'm 6'1" 260lbs) but I didn't care.
The artwork is amazing. As far as I could tell it pulls most of its information from the original movies and has a lot of cool comments from Han Solo injected throughout.

Overall a really cool look at the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Twenty Gold Falcons
Aiden Farmer misses her farm. When her father dies, her mother moves them to the city of Gloria and puts the farm up for sale.Aiden doesn't feel like she fits in at the private school she must attend. The kids and even her teacher call her "farmer girl" instead of her name. She and her mother are staying in the tiny apartment of her famous opera uncle Tony Balboni.Throughout this book she meets Liesl, a strange adopted cousin, makes friends with Adam, meets charles the mouse who loves opera, befriends Rosie and her siblings who operate the elevators in the Ingle building, and stumbles upon the biggest mystery of her life. When Aiden hears a story about 20 gold falcons hidden in the Ingle building she dismisses it.That is until the bank has decided to accept them again and they become valuable.Stumbling upon several clues she decides to hunt for the hidden gold and in doing so uncovers several other mysteries.

I read this book straight through. It was so good. The characters were so believable I felt like I was in the story with them hunting for the gold.Amy Gordon is a master story teller.Shedrew her characters so well that you could not help but dislike Marissa and Quentin. You felt the evil exuding from Grip. You wanted to sit in the elevator with Rosie and listen for hours to her tell the stories of the old building. This was my first book by Amy Gordon but will definitely not be my last.I can't wait for my students to get their hand on this and her other books. We need more books like this that keep you on the edge of your seat.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rutgers University Project on Economics and Children
Moving to the city proved difficult for twelve-year-old Aiden Farmer.True to her last name, she loved the farm and wished desperately that her mother did not need to sell it.But they had trouble making ends meet, especially after her father died, and a kind uncle in the city had offered to take them in for a while.Although Aiden could attend the elite private school where her mother had found a teaching job, she felt ostracized and out of place.

Life in her new home and school took an unexpected turn for the better when Aiden became enmeshed in an exciting hunt for a cache of gold coins hidden away in the grand Ingle building. Although those coins had lost most of their value after the Great Depression, they had remained hidden so long that they were worth a lot of money -- enough to pay for Aiden's dream of keeping the farm. Would she and the friends she made along the way manage to decipher the mysterious clues before the other treasure hunters did?

This mystery novel provides middle-grade readers with an appealing mix of intrigue, humor, and adventure. Key to the plot development are some important economic ideas revolving around tight budget constraints, the value of real estate and gold, and the class barriers created by wealth differentials.A bright and vivacious heroine sweetens the pot to make Twenty Gold Falcons a highly satisfying read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Falcon
A marvelous blending of characters woven in an enchanting story that you will have a hard time putting down.

5-0 out of 5 stars Once you finsh...you may just want to read it again
This book is well written. The prose allows you to experience the emotions of the chrcaters, including the falcon.

The book starts when Michael Somers returns to his hometown in northern British Columbia after many years absence he is shunned by the community. Alone and the subject of malicious gossip he attempts to come to terms with the traumatic events of his past.

As well as being a story of redemption, this is a dramatic tale of love, jealousy and insecurity in the pressure cooker of a tight knit community where emotions build to an explosive climax.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great read for anyone.
This should have been promoted more because it would have made the bestseller list for sure.A wonderful story and I recommend it to anyone, animal lover or not!You will find it truly enjoyable!

4-0 out of 5 stars The Snow Falcon
The best book i have read in ages it is truly one of my all time favourites. The love story was great but the story of the Falcon was really absorbing, like i was the falcon seeing it all through the Falcons eyes, would recomended this book to any one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Novel
I thoroughly enjoyed The Snow Falcon. The novel explores the nature of healing - from loss, from a dark past - and the extent to which animals can participate in that process. If you're an animal lover, this book is a must-read. Even if you're not, I highly recommend it. It would be a good book-club selection -- plenty going on here and I do think the characters and plot lend themselves to discussion very nicely. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 year old loves this book!
My 5 year old daughter recently became interested in eagles and this book is perfect in helping her learn more. Each page is dedicated to a bird, and information is written in small amounts so she actually reads everthing about a particular raptor and learns someting too. There are also "cool facts" on each page, and they are exactly that, cool.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Intro For Adults
If you love raptors, then this book is a great way to get you started learning about them. The drawings and full color paintings are superb. The information is more than enough for a good introduction, and if you like bird carving, then this is one of the best reference books you can have. I got one for myself, and gave the kids their own. It's not just a coloring book, the activities are designed to get the reader thinking and doing, especially observing nature and not television. Perfect for home schoolers.

5-0 out of 5 stars A truly fantastic coloring book
This is the only children's book I've seen that does a comprehensive job portraying the richness and diversity of birds of prey that exist in North America...As a scientist, this is certainly the kind of coloring book I'd be happy to give my kids. And, as a raptor biologist, I'd be proud to give it to a colleague's kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars A simple, appealing coverage
Coloring books are not appropriate for library lending and are typically not featured here; but Raptors: The Eagles Hawks Falcons And Owls Of North America is a very fine educational guide and a highly recommended pick parents will want to pick up for their children and that librarians could utilize as a reading prize incentive for their summer reading program promotions. Color drawings of hawks, eagles, and owls accompany basic information on North American raptors, with complex and detailed black and white drawings kids can fill in. A simple, appealing coverage.

5-0 out of 5 stars Where's the rest of the series?
Fantastic Conan-like action story about a Crusader returning to Europe to seek vengence on his father's killers. The series never was finished, and neither was Falcon's revenge on the killers.
Mark Ramsay is a nom de plume for John Maddox Roberts, author of the SPQR series.John, why don't you finish this series?

5-0 out of 5 stars The Falcon Series
This is one of the best series I have read! I wish there was some way to convince the author to write more! Can anyone shed light on who the author is, and why no more in the series when #4 has a teaser for book 5?

5-0 out of 5 stars Ramsay
I have loved this series since I first read the books back in the early 80s.I wish the author would write more - these books are very similar to Robert E Howard's Conan stuff, pure genius and pure fun!I suspect that Ramsay (he uses another name on his other stuff) doesn't regard these books as his best work, but I honestly believe the Falcon series captures something very special (perhaps unintentionally) and I treasure these stories.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Falcon Series
These are great reads. Wish he wrote more than four books in the series.

4-0 out of 5 stars A REALISTIC FANTASY

HOWEVER IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A REALISTIC ACTION ADVENTURE SET SOMETIME DURING THE CRUSADES THAT INCLUDES ANENIGMATIC ANDSOMETIMES BRUTISH HERO THEN THIS IS GREAT. Product Description
In this newest and up-to-date book in a long line of respected works, Paul A. Johnsgard provides a comprehensive review of all thirty-one species of diurnal raptors that breed in the United States and Canada.

In his thorough style, Johnsgard presents the evolutionary history and the morphological features of this diverse group. He gives a detailed account of each of the thirty-one included species, including identifying characteristics to aid birders with field study, a survey of habitats, food and foraging ecology, social behavior, and breeding biology. He also discusses the conservation of these magnificent predators, since hawks, eagles, and falcons are among the wildlife that suffered most from use of DDT and other pesticides in the decades after WWII.

In addition to range maps, full-page figures, and numerous sketches, the book is handsomely illustrated and includes appendices, a glossary of technical terms, and a bibliography of more than 1,200 sources. Comparable to Johnsgard's highly prised North American Owls, this book will be a keystone in the library of every ornithologist, raptor buff, and birder, and a welcome new source for the ecologist and naturalist as well. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars At minimum, a very interesting read.
I found the text to be quite readable and a lot more interesting than some other books on raptors that I have read. This book, of course, cites many different sources, and with those cites, they are clearly stated that these are the opinions and facts of the authors he is citing from.A good portion of the books I have read regarding raptors, the authors use pictures of wild birds where this book mostly uses pictures of captive birds; I was some what puzzled by this, but all the pictures are clearly marked.

There are many tables and graphs in the book and where some are incomplete there is at least one where I questioned just how accurate the data actually was; I had to keep reminding myself that when I read this book, the opinions of the experts vary; I got the impression that the author was trying to give the reader the impression.

3-0 out of 5 stars Hawks, Eagles and Falcons of North America: Biology and Natu
I was a little disappointed when I received the book. I found several inaccuracies in the text and many of the photos appear to be of captive or mounted birds.

2-0 out of 5 stars Something is missing!
After finishing this story, I felt unfulfilled. For one thing, I never felt a connection with any of the characters.Usually, I can "see" the characters and understand them. They were never described physically or otherwise enough to get a picture of them. They didn't have any depth to them. All we know about Ros is that he is a conceited Gypsy warrior who acts like Tarzan (pounding his chest and talking about himself in third person#, and that he is constantly aroused... did they have Viagra back then?Thea is a helpless female who runs around half-naked #in the snow) throughout the book. For another thing, I felt like things were repeated unecessarily to the point of boredom.I like the occasional time travel, but it was a bit overdone in this story. They pass back and forth constantly through time, for pointless reasons.I kept wishing the story would end and wondering why I kept reading it (kind of like a watching a movie to the very end, even though you think it's worthless).Evidently, from other reviews, some people "got it" and even enjoyed it; I'm just not one of those people.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Falcon's Bride
The book was ok but later into the story it keep jumping back and forth. But I will read other books by this author

2-0 out of 5 stars 2 Stars
This book was just okay.It was boring in certain parts and the author used the same words over and over again.I didn't understand at what point the heroine fell in love with the hero and why.It seemed as if on one page she hated him, with very good cause, and the very next page she was madly in love with him.I even checked the book to see if pages were ripped out because it happened so fast. The only explanation being that they were soul mates and that made everything okay.As another reviewer has said, it did seemed like chapters were cut short in this book and it made the story rushed without making sense. Some of the side characters didn't seem to really have a point in the story, they just filled up the pages and left you wondering why they were even mentioned in the first place.

4-0 out of 5 stars A very inventive and gripping read!
It's refreshing when an author can come along with something new and inventive.Dawn Thompson really showed some amazing talent when she wrote this book.I loved how she was able to take us back and forth through time without getting the reader to confused. The characters were great too. However, I wanted to kick the crap out of that little weasle Nigel.Very bad boy!And don't even get me started on his mother...just plain evil.Pick up a copy of this book, you won't be disappointed.

2-0 out of 5 stars Could not get into it
I had to force myself to finish it. Love scenes were wooden, and all that back and forth between different time periods was boring. The whole book had a depressing quality to it. From the reviews, I thought it would be good. I was dissapointed! ... Read more

Product Description

When Major Michael Donnelly was instructing his U.S. Air Force student pilots, he used to tell them three things: Timing is everything; it's nice to be lucky; and there is no justice. Highly decorated fighter pilot, proud young patriot, loyal friend with a mischievous sense of humor, loving husband and father of two, he could not have imagined the tragic meaning those words would assume just a few years after his tour of duty in Desert Storm. In 1996 Major Donnelly was diagnosed with ALS, Lou Gehrig's Disease, at the unusually young age of 35; the onset of this illness marked the beginning of a kind of torture beyond the scope of even the most rigorous military survival training. Betrayed by his body, eventually paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair, he experienced another betrayal perhaps even more difficult to comprehend—betrayal by his country. For despite the fact that over 110,000 Desert Storm veterans are sick, many dying of mysterious cancers and neurological diseases, including more than ten times the normal incidence of ALS—and despite all evidence pointing to U.S. troops having been dosed by low levels of Iraqi nerve agents and exposed to chemical weapons' fallout—the Pentagon adamantly denies any connection between their illnesses and their service in the Gulf War. Falcon's Cry: A Desert Storm Memoir, Michael Donnelly's unforgettable story, is his courageous attempt to unearth the truth and force an acknowledgment of that truth by the government he and his fellow veterans defended with their lives.

Flying 44 fighter jet combat missions in a war fought on an all-or-nothing scale was thrilling for Michael Donnelly. When the war was won, he and his country rejoiced in the knowledge that, unlike in Vietnam, America had gotten it right in the Persian Gulf. Less than a decade later, the world is learning what veterans and their families have known since Desert Storm—we did not get it right at all. Saddam Hussein is still terrorizing a large portion of the globe. Moreover, we did not learn the lesson of Agent Orange which the Department of Defense denied for decades was the cause of early deaths and birth defects among Vietnam veterans and their families. Yet, thanks largely to the testimony of the author before the House of Representatives in 1997, a first step has been taken toward justice for the tens of thousands of Desert Storm veterans who are suffering virtually in isolation, many without any medical or disability benefits.Major Donnelly believes the truth about Gulf War Illnesses will be uncovered by studies funded in the recently passed Omnibus Appropriations bill, as well as through stories like his own, and he fervently hopes that America can, at last, get it right.

Amazon.com Review
Michael Donnelly's diary entries offer a matter-of-factaccount of his 44 combat missions during the Gulf War, but hisdescriptions of dealing with doctors after coming home are morefrightening. Diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease,Donnelly is convinced what he has is "Gulf War syndrome"--brought onby exposure to low levels of nerve and poison gases during the war. "Idon't know what to believe, where to turn for help," he writes. "Allthe while my body continues to deteriorate, heedless of the possiblecauses of its slow degeneration." Although he had served in themilitary for 15 years, Donnelly had to hire a lawyer and appeal to theAir Force Medical Evaluation Board to force the air force to pay himfull disability benefits. And though the government denied anyresponsibility for his illness, we learn that U.S. officials both inWashington and at the front were aware of Iraq's chemical-weaponscapability--and continued with their plans regardless: "Troops cameupon camels lying dead and decaying in the desert ... dogs and rodentsand other small animals died, suddenly, inexplicably, shortly afterthose tens of thousands of 'false' chemical weapons alarms rangout. The alarms were so common, some commanders even ordered theirtroops to disable or disregard them." Falcon's Cry is a storyof courage and betrayal, a war story in which the casualty doesn'toccur until after the fighting stops. --Linda Killian ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book
I bought and read the book when it first came out, and I bought a second so I can loan it to others to read and not worry aboutmy first book getting lost.Besides the Donnellys, some of the people and events in the book were apart of our life as well.Very well written!

5-0 out of 5 stars Michael's Death
I just found out about Michael's death through the Gulflink website. My sympathy goes out to his family. His story, with the help of his sister Denise, will be with us all always. He could have chose to sit back and just kept his disease and facts to himself, but he chose to share it with all in the hopes it might make a difference to someone. What a legacy to leave. And thanks Michael, for helping my family live through our anger we had at my brother's death, and dealing with Gulf War illness. My prayers are with your family....

5-0 out of 5 stars Enlightening
I obtained a tape of this book from the library of the blind , on tape.
I was fascinated with the whole process of his student days as well as the way they worked in the present time illness.
My heart goes out to him and his family and ALL other Soldiers who became ill with no apparent cause after the war.
I would like to know what his present status is, and would like to help in any way that is possible.
In thinking that our present war situation probably is as tentative, to hold this VITAL information back from those who serve makes a mockery of the Ideals our Country was founded on.
I used to participate in Living History, and the good thing about that is that we seem to LEARN from the past.
War does NOT change minds or hearts.
I would hope and pray that this present generation does not have to pay the price of this brave Soldier, Officer, and Gentleman.

5-0 out of 5 stars Please read Falcon's Cry and remember that he was not alone.
I first came across the book in the fall of '99.It was at a critical time in my air force career.Soon, the mandate to submit to the anthrax vaccine would require a decision that would obviously affect the rest of my life.Take a vaccine that has been proven to cause terrible reactions and has been whispered to be a root cause of Gulf War Illness or refuse and be subject to military justice and the end of my career.

In my squadron, the most asked question to management was "If we become ill following the vaccine, will the Air Force take care of us?" As I saw in this book, the answer to the question is NO.

As pilots, our most treasured asset is our health.Without it, we can no longer perform the mission that we love. The manner in which Michael and Denise describe the physical and mental anguish he endured was truly overwhelming.I could imagine myself in his position and the way I would react; how I would feel.

In my months of research, this book proved to be one of the many determining factors in my decsion. When I talked to former commanders who reminded me of their experiences with Agent Orange or when I spoke with members at my own base that had testified to Congress about their illnesses following the anthrax vaccine, in the back of my mind was Michael Donnelly.

I ultimately made my decision to resign in lieu of taking the vaccine which has led to the end of my aviation career. The only salvation I have is the knowledge that I will never need to worry about unexplained illness in the future.

My most heartfelt sympathy and gratitude go out to Michael and Denise's families.Michael's story is one that I will never forget.Thank you for helping me make my decision.

3-0 out of 5 stars Freedom--with Responsibility
Although published in 1962 this YA book is set in the country in the 1930's, when it was legal to capture birds of prey to train and keep as pets. The story of June's coming of age takes readers across three summers, with only brief paragraphs to summarize her school years in the city. The extended Pritchard family spends every summer in the inherited Victorian house owned by common grandparents. Besides her older twin brothers and cousin Rod, the premises are shared by a menagerie of mainly wild creatures who have been tamed by budding naturalists.

Every kid in the story has a wild animal for a pet, which teaches them to respect the laws of nature and the importance of personal responsibility. The summer she turns 13 June is presented with a young
sparrow hawk. Naming him Zander she tackles the serious business of training him to come to her call and gradually to hunt on his own.
(Curiously enough these wild pets spend the winter in the city, even going off to college with the boys.) As time passes both June and Zander crave increasing freedom--the right to make their own decisions about their lives. Even parents must recognize when it is time to encourage their offspring to leave the nest--even if they aren't sure they want to.

Jean Craighead George depicts life in simpler times by 21st century standards, but some basic life issues are as true today as they were then.As a society we have recognized the need to preserve the balance of Nature--for the good of both mankind and wild animals. As a maturing girl will June reach the point of spreading her own wings--willingly and eagerly? As a young woman how will she treat Zander who has his own agenda? When does a "parent" realize that it's time to let go--and let fly? A serious read featuring a teenage protagonist--with ecological undertones for adults of all ages.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fine story from a great nature writer
This semi-autobiographical novel by Jean Craighead George, our best children's nature writer of today, is a fine portrait of a child becoming an adult in the confusing, often tedious world of adolescence.Ms. George, author of JULIE OF THE WOLVES, MY SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN, and over eighty other books for young readers, does a splendid job managing to develop characters and blend humanity with the natural world.June Pritchard (reminiscent of the author's name) is given a sparrow hawk on her thirteenth birthday.Over the course of several summers, she trains him, while maturing herself, and forms a strong bond with her feathered friend.Fans of Frightful in the MY SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN trilogy will love to read more about falconry and birds of prey. And girls, especially, can relate to June's frustration as she grows up.All in all, this is a beautiful book, one that any nature lover can enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars SOARS!
This is a lovely story about how a falcon became part of a person's life. This beautiful, independent bird is the central character in this story; the large predator soars across the story, taking the readers along for the trip.

This is such a worthwhile book.It will especially appeal to people who love falcons.

5-0 out of 5 stars Falcon's rising
I can't understand why this book received such negative reviews. I found this book very enjoyable. Especially since it finally brings the Jade Falcons into the Dark Age storyline.

4-0 out of 5 stars I don't know why
I don't know why the other people did not like the book, but i did i like it alot but that's my opinion.

3-0 out of 5 stars It didn't really fly with me
I am a 15 year old kid and a fan of mechwarrior. I had not really read any of the books before but I gave it a try. The word choice was difficult for me because of the foreign words and that my vocabulary is not up to par. As for the book, unless you are a fan of the RPG, computergames, or the wizkids mechwarrior game you will not really have any interest in this book. It is packed with your favorite clans or at least mine the Jade falcon. The book jumps around a lot but the book will tell u place you're jumping to and the date for convenience. Over this entire book will help you better understand the properties of these game and background to your clans.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Battletech book EVER!!
This was the novel that killed MW:DA for me. Having read all the Battletech novels, I decided to give the Dark Age novels the benefit of the doubt. They were okay. I felt that I was getting my money's worth. There were minor inconsistencies where the author obviously didn't know their subject matter, but hey, I was willing to overlook it and follow the series.

That's when I bought this book. From sex and nudity to the wholesale slaughter of civillians in order to pacify worlds, this book was offensive on so many levels. The old Battletech books--while dealing with the occasional mature theme--were so skillfully written that these themes were either glossed over or written so that they were appropriate for someone around the age or 9 or 10. I wouldn't let any child read this book (and reviews here on Amazon are stating that the content is getting much worse with the later novels).

This content is NOT what I expect from a game that has been traditionally family-friendly since 1984. I got about halfway through the book before putting it down and swearing off the rest of the series.

The 'talking chicken' book (Far Country) was better than this nauseating piece of drek. Don't waste your money.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Gem in a Rough Series
The previous Mechwarrior: DarkAge books were, um, weak. But Flight of the Falcon breathes some new life into the series.Victor Milan is one of the best Battletech writers.

In this book, the Clans come to life again. The Clans you love to hate: vicious, skilled, myopic, relentless. Not the cariatures of the Clans that have inhabited the last several years of BT books.

I will say this though - I am getting really tired of the Tara Campbell character. That is no reflection on Milan though. He works with the material he is given. ... Read more

Could East and West love side by side? They were in love - why shouldn't they be married? But both Felicia and Faisal knew there would be problems. Ordinary English girls just didn't marry wealthy Arabs.

On a cloud of love and optimism, Felicia flew to Kuwait to meet Faisal's family, to gain their trust, love and approval...

But Faisal's dictatorial uncle, Raschid, had no intention of allowing Felicia to marry his nephew, and his methods of driving her away were dishonorable and grossly unfair. Though Felicia resented his prejudiced attitude, she had to admit the man himself fascinated her.

5-0 out of 5 stars BACK OF BOOK
Desert Bride. Felicia accepted there would be hurdles to overcome when she agreed to accompany her fiance, Faisal, to his homeland: she was ordinary English girl, and he was an Arab from a immensely wealthy family. But there was one particular problem she hadn't bargained for- Faisal's uncle, Sheikh Raschid al Hamid al Sabah. It wasn't just Raschid's mistaken conviction that Felicia was an unprincipled gold digger that was causing her alarm. It was the slowly awakening realization that she might have become engaged to the wrong man...

4-0 out of 5 stars Good reference for scale modelers
This book is essentially a collection of photographs of the F-16 from the Thunderbird demonstration team, to the European scheme, to the Air Superiority scheme, to the US Navy Aggressor scheme. The photographs areaccompanied by text which explains unique features of the photo.A usefulreference for scale modelers who want to customize stock plastic kits. Plenty of shots of landing gear, IR sensors, cockpit (as much as can beshown for an unclassified document) and engine. If you're looking forinformation on how the bird actually works, you're better off with a copyof the "Falcon 4.0" PC flight simulation game manual or Shaw's"Fighter Combat: Tactics and Maneuvering" book.

3-0 out of 5 stars Purely pictures.Nothing technical about the Viper.
If you're looking for lots of pictures of F-16's around the world, this is your book. If you want technical stuff, look somewhere else.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Photo-Album
This is strictly a "picture" book with pictures of the different F-16 paint jobs around the world.

There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING worthwile tactical or technical in this book.

Buy it only if you like prettypictures of the F-16!

Product Description
This is a must read! It is the first and the original book of quantitative questions from finance job interviews. Painstakingly revised over 15 years and 12 editions, Heard on The Street has been shaped by feedback from many hundreds of readers. With 50,000 copies in print (late 2009), its readership is unmatched by any competing book. The revised 12th edition contains over 175 quantitative questions collected from actual job interviews in investment banking, investment management, and options trading. The interviewers use the same questions year-after-year, and here they are with detailed solutions! This edition also includes over 125 non-quantitative actual interview questions, giving a total of more than 300 actual finance job interview questions. There is also a revised section on interview technique based on Dr. Crack's experiences interviewing candidates and also based on feedback from interviewers worldwide. The quant questions cover pure quant/logic, financial economics, derivatives, and statistics. They come from all types of interviews (corporate finance, sales and trading, quant research, etc.), and from all levels of interviews (undergraduate, MS, MBA, PhD).The first seven editions of Heard on the Street contained an appendix on option pricing. That appendix was carved out as a standalone book in 2004, and it is now available in its revised second edition published April 2009: "Basic Black-Scholes" ISBN=0970055242. Dr. Crack has a PhD from MIT. He has won many teaching awards, and has publications in the top academic, practitioner, and teaching journals in finance. He has degrees/diplomas in Mathematics/Statistics, Finance, Financial Economics and Accounting/Finance. Dr. Crack taught at the university level for over 20 years including four years as a front line teaching assistant for MBA students at MIT. He has worked as an independent consultant to the New York Stock Exchange, and his most recent practitioner job was as the head of a quantitative active equity research team at what was the world's largest institutional money manager. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Bad and unorganized
I work in banking and knew many tech questions before buying this book. With this book I didn't learn any new questions that can actually be used - they are far but really far from reality. Worst purchase ever

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Ever for Wall Street Interviews
I got a masters degree in financial engineering, I definitely learnt a lot there but it was not enough to tackle wall street job interviews. I practiced on "Heard On The Street" and this book has been of tremendous help. Many of the questions that I have been asked were in this book. And it also helped me to answer other questions that were not in the book - the reason is because you will be fluent with the mechanics that you need to answer interview questions. I am recommending it to everyone looking for a quantitatively (slightly or strongly) oriented job in wall street. It definitely helped me to get some offers this year.

5-0 out of 5 stars Essential preparation for finance interviews
This is a must for people heading to trading firms, banks, or other financial service firms for interviews. These firms typically scout for a few skill sets. One is general brainpower, as hard as that is to measure. Another is the more difficult math in finance, derivatives pricing. This book covers both in a quick and easy format to let you see where you stand. Moreover, if you can master the material in the book then you will be ready for the majority of an entry-level interview.

The derivatives questions cover "plain vanilla" options pricing and some basic understanding of the principles behind the formulas. Most firms want to see that you know the terms in the Black-Scholes equation and how options prices depend on things.

The earlier part of the book I find even more impressive. It's a nearly comprehensive list of the brain-teasers you get in this process. That's where the employer is trying to measure general brainpower. Of course, a brain-teaser you haven't seen before will give you pause and maybe elude you in the stress of an interview. But after reading this book the answers could be at the ready. The set of brain-teasers through history is actually very small. That is after distilling all the variations on them such as whether you are weighing coins or cannonballs and such. And that set of puzzles, questions designed to test basic reasoning and logic, without depending on formal math, is well covered in this book. In fact, in many interviews I have only encountered one single brain-teaser that is not in this book (and it's not a very good one either).

Finally Mr. Crack inserts notes on the culture of banks which might scare or excite the prospective employee. This book is both good orientation and preparation for starting a career in finance.

It is still relevant and helpful ten years later. That said, there is one area this book totally misses (because of what's happened in the past ten years). That is programming questions. Especially in the past couple of years most interviews will look for somesoftware development skill on top of the general brainpower and command of financial derivatives. Tests on C++ or OOP are common these days. For that material you have to look elsewhere.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just right
Bought this for my son, who was in the process of interviewing for an internship in investment banking. He got an offer from a prestigious Wall Street firm.Coincidence?Or was it this book?Either way, everybody here is very happy with my purchase!

3-0 out of 5 stars This is NOT an i-banker interview book- for quants only
I'm in financial engineering so this book is reasonably useful if you are interviewing for a job as a quant, quantitative strategist or quantitative trader. However, this book purports (explicitly) to be an interview guide for "Investment Banking" jobs.I suppose that Timothy Falcon Crack doesn't know what investment bankers do, but must i-bankers I know (and I know many) work at raising capital either through debt or equity or some hybrid.Only in the case of securitization jobs would an i-banker be expected to know much of these questions. Many of the questions relate purely to derivatives, which an i-banker who will be spending the next 5 years valuing companies on spreadsheets will not be expected to know at the level of the questioning.Other questions are so absurdly quantitative that there is no way anyone applying for a job in the capital markets division of an i-bank would mean that you would get such a question.

This book is useful for quants - but it is NOT for investment bankers. ... Read more
